It had been 2 years since I had met Mipha and I never saw her after she saved me that one dream. Ever since then, each day has been slower and more mundane than the last. But two things stood out to me over the past few days: two web series called Zoophobia and Helluva Boss, coincidentally made by the same person, Vivziepop. I do not know why, but I could not take my eyes off of 2 characters from those videos: Kayla and Loona. There was something about Kayla's optimism and Loona's hardcore attitude that I really admired about them. They were 2 complete opposites and wondered what it would be like if they lived together or something. After a heated argument with my parents about what I planned to do after high school, I carried on my day and went to bed after watching more of them.
The dream I had was very strange for the most part. I was in a room, one-half white, covered with what looked like report cards and sheet music, the other half black and adorned with weapons and bloodstains. Before I could even think about the symbolism of it, something hug-tackled me and pinned me to the ground. Something...soft and fluffy?
"Oh! Hello there, mate!" I looked up to see a pair of baby blue eyes staring back at me, a smile from the face to which they belonged. She appeared to be a kangaroo of sorts, with long, brown ears with heart-shaped symbols in them, brown fur covering most of her body, and what looked like extra-fluffy fur on her chest. "My name's Kayla, what's yours?"
"Uhh...I'm Adam," I said shyly, my voice muffled by her furry body on top of me. "Nice to meet you, Kayla."
"Adam...That's such a cute name!" She said, making me blush a little. "Oh! Wait till you meet my friend! She'll love ya!"
"Okay," I murmured, my face buried in her velvety fur. "Could you please get off of me? Not that I hate this or anything, it's just a little hard to breathe, y'know?"
"Oh my, how rude of me! I just thought you could use a hug, that's all."
"Don't apologize. I've been having a rough day, so I guess this is my mind telling me I needed one."
"Oh, you're so sweet! Anyway, let me go get her, ok? I'll be back in a jiffy!"
I didn't know what to think of her. She was this soft, fluffy, adorable little ball of energy ready to explode at any given moment. And who was her friend? Judging by Kayla's personality, she must have represented the white half of the room. So that meant her friend must be the black half, which made me a little nervous. After all, there were bloodstains on the walls of that side. About five minutes later, Kayla appeared from around the corner and told me to close my eyes. I hesitantly shook my head and close closed them.
"Okay, you can open them now," Kayla said. "Say hello to my friend, cutie!"
I opened my eyes to see a tall, slender wolf with long silver fur that looked almost like hair, eyes with ruby-red scleras and white irises, pointy ears with 2 piercings on her right one, and a crop-top with spaghetti straps in the shape of an inverted pentagram holding it up. I instantly blushed at the sight of her beauty, which made her tilt her head slightly in confusion.
"Uh...You okay?" She questioned, unsure of what had just come over me.
"Um...yeah," I said, my voice going quieter the longer I talked. "I'm...Adam...nice to meet you."
"You're weird, kid. And you know what," she said in a slightly annoyed tone. I braced for her to insult me or get one of the weapons off the wall and bludgeon me with them for being so shy and stupid. "I kinda like that. Name's Loona. And I take it that you've already met Kayla."
"HELLO AGAIN!" Kayla yelled, waving at me.
"She's annoying sometimes," Loona said. "But other than that, she's a good friend."
"I think she's cute. Hell, I think both of you are cute."
"That's...flattering," Loona said, slightly blushing. Her phone went off, and she stumbled to pick it up a few times, and then finally answered it. "Yeah? Ok. Ok. Fine, Blitzo, I'm coming."
"Who was that?"
"That was my boss. He said he needed me at his office for something about our next client. Sorry kid, but I gotta run. Here's my number if you wanna hang out after I'm done with work. And it looks like Kayla's taken a liking to you too, so here's her's. Call either of us if you have a rough day or something, I don't know... Anyway, see you around, kid." Loona walked into the black part of the room, winked at me, and vanished before my eyes.
"Wow... she winked at me... I don't know if she likes me, but this is clearly a- OOF!" With a thud, I fell to the ground. "Kayla, is that you?"
"Oh, I'm sorry! I couldn't help but notice you were alone... did Loona leave to go to work again?"
"Yeah, she did. She winked at me before she left and gave me her phone number. Oh, and she gave me yours, too. She said call either of you if I'm having a rough day and need a pick me up."
"She did? Yay, I get more chances to hang out with you!"
"That's nice of you to say, Kayla. Can you get off me now? I can't breathe good, and I think I broke a rib or something."
"Oh! Sorry again, mate. Maybe this will make it feel better!"
She leaned in and gave my a gentle peck on the cheek, which made my heart skip a beat. "I-I-I-I" I stammered, trying to say thanks, but Kayla cut me off with another hug. My face was as red as a tomato, my heart going a million miles an hour, and a smile a thousand miles wide appeared on my face.
"Left you speechless, didn't I? Oh, look at the time! I better get to class!"
"Kayla, wait!" I said in a hurried tone. "When will I see you and Loona again?"
"'When the 4 are met inside the one's mind, they will bless it with eternal happiness as long as they may live.' That what an ancient text I saw at the museum said anyway. Bye!" She leaped into the white side of the room, winked at me, and disappeared just like Loona did.
I woke up, looked around my room, and jotted down what she said, and sighed. "This might be good. Only one way to find out, though!"
