chapter 20

1.

"I wonder if Benkei's death is really the reason that triggered Shinichiro-san's once-tamed dark impulse," Takemichi muttered as he pushed the covers up to his body. "Or there must be something else before that...what actually caused his first awakening? I mean, he already had this dark impulse of his...I don't know what I'm even implying."

He rolled over to his side, sighing before wafting off to sleep, "I'll ask Mikey tomorrow."

Then, somebody banged at the door. The poor ravenette's whole body shook, then immediately got out of bed in response. He whined, going towards the door to see who it is.

"And who knocks on somebody's door at two in the morning!?"

He opened the door, growling in annoyance. He then softened when he saw who it was. Then tensed when he saw the guy behind him.

"Mikey?! Naoto?!" Takemichi shouted but in a lower tone to not wake up the other occupants. "What are you doing here at two in the morning?"

"Surprise, motherfucker," Mikey gleed, making his way into the entrance, He removed his sandals by the genkan and went towards the room. Naoto unbuttoned two on the top of his dress suit before settling inside.

"At least you can wait in the morning, right?" Takemichi groaned, moving to the side to let Naoto in.

"I thought you wanted to know what really awakened Aniki's dark impulse," Mikey sat by the futon lying by the small table in the middle of the room. "So I went here with Naoto to tell you some details."

"Do you have cameras here in my house or something?!" Takemichi said. Naoto chuckled.

"No, just my instincts," Mikey stood up and went towards the cupboard, opening it and scanning over it. "Now, what snacks do you have, Takemicchi?"

"I have dorayaki by the second cabinet," The owner of the house pointed out. "No, the other one."

"Ah! There," He took some, but turned over to look at Takemichi and Naoto. "Want some?"

"I'll have one," Naoto smiled. Mikey gave back the smile and took another and threw it to him. The ravenette with dark eyes caught it.

"Takemitchy?"

"No thanks, I'm full."

"Alright," Mikey closed the wooden cabinet slightly, then sat down beside the blue-eyed male, leaning down by the shoji-covered cabinet behind them. "So, wanna know what actually awoken Aniki's dark impulse? And that's what made him very protective over Wakasa-san?"

"Wait, it's connected to Wakasa-san?" Takemichi turned his head over to his lover, who had the dorayaki dangling between his teeth. He looked down, holding his chin. "So Benkei-san's death just awoken it more...I was right."

"Mr Tachibana," Mikey took the dorayaki out of his mouth. "Mind taking that case in September 2003?"

"Thank you, Sano-kun," Naoto smiled, taking out his laptop from the bag he's been holding, and opening it, waiting for it to fucking load before he can get all information.

"Your laptop lags too?" Mikey chuckled. "Relatable."

"It just hurts your head, you know?" Naoto jested.

"I know, right?!"

I'm happy they're at least, getting along, Takemichi smiled to himself. I mean, Mikey's still a criminal and yet he acts like a commoner.

"But back to the topic," Naoto said. "September 2nd of 2003, The battle of Shibuya's ruins. In an abandoned parking lot, a battle between the three of the first generation Black Dragons and an unnamed gang erupted, causing severe injuries towards Imaushi Wakasa, aged 23. Two were dead and three from the unnamed gang were arrested. Rumour say that these three were connected to the mastermind that killed Arashi Keizo."

"I was there," Mikey interrupted. "Toman was backing up the three. No one won though, both resulted in severe injuries and deaths."

"Why were they unnamed?" Takemichi took glances at both of them.

"They were introduced without a name, without a leader, without an origin. That's why it's hard to also find them as of the moment," Mikey answered.

"Do you have any other questions?" Naoto closed the laptop and stuffed it in the bag for it.

"As of now, no," Takemichi shook his head. "I'll do my own research and ask you if I need help."

"Alright," The grey-eyed male stood up and walked for the door. He waved goodbye before leaving the two alone.

"Can I stay here for tonight?" The white-haired man asked.

"Yeah, of course."

2.

"Kazutora!" Takemichi entered the pet shop. He had a simple white shirt on, tucked in skinny jeans. He had a wristwatch by his left wrist, with feet clothed in white sneakers. Kazutora was by the counter, stroking the ears of a ginger cat who was resting there. "I need your help."

"What is it?" Kazutora smiled at him.

"Help me go back to the past."

The tiger stopped to process what he said.

"WHAT?! WHY?!"

"Call the others," He ordered. "Let me explain."

...

"So, you want to save Wakasa-san? So that it doesn't awake Shinichiro-kun's dark impulse?" Baji questioned, settling down beside the time traveller by the couch. "Are you sure?"

"Or would it be better to stop the fight before?" Takemichi thought, his fingers tapping on the pillow resting on his lap. "I mean, two weeks from now will be September 2. Or at least investigate about them in that time?"

"Listen, you won't be with anyone or talk about it with anyone," Chifuyu explained, as he sat down parallel to them. "We still don't know about your time travel at that time."

"I dealt more of these myself, please remember," Takemichi chuckled. "It's also going to save Wakasa-san and Shinichiro-san's relationship in the process."

"Are you sure?" Kazutora leaned over the door, crossing his arms under his chest. "I mean, Wakasa-san and the others had a life-and-death situation back them. We don't want you to die as well."

"I remember that time," Baji added. "They were ambushed, not declared into war. Like the one that happened in 2015."

"Then I'll time leap now," Takemichi stood up. "It'll give me time to research and at least delay it."

Kazutora sighed, going towards Takemichi, "It's your choice. But come back alive."

"Like I never."

3.

His eyes opened, the sun emitting from the half-opened curtains hanging from the window. The light blinded his blue orbs, as he squinted to adjust his eyesight. He fully opened them, wondering about the ceiling.

Did I change my ceiling? He thought. I remember having a white ceiling.

He then sprinted up, looking around the unfamiliar room. The said place was designed like a traditional Japanese room, with little bits of modern furniture scattered around the room. He stood up, stumbling from his wrong footing, and tidied up the futon, placing it on the side near the cabinet.

"Where am I?"

"Takemichi-kun," Somebody opened the Shoji doors, revealing a tall man, probably about six foot, wearing a royal blue yukata. He had dark and short unruly locks, his fringe covering the top of his eyelids. He had eyes reflecting the night sky, the shining present, unlike his younger brother's pair. "You're awake."

"Shinichiro-san...?"

He chuckled, opening the door fully, "You're still half-asleep. Come, Emma's making breakfast."

He left the room, leaving the door open, as his steps pitter-pattered across the wood by the halls. Takemichi scratched the back of his neck, still wondering what was going on. But he guesses that nothing bad happened...right? He went out of the room, closing the door behind him slowly, before going in and out some places before reaching the dining room. The dojo was a whole maze, as he describes.

He entered quietly, trying not to attract attention. But no, even just a small push of the door from him lured all eyes. Takemichi stopped for a while and took a deep breath, before fully opening the door. Before his eyes, there sat Shinichiro with Grandpa Sano and Mikey parallel to him. Behind the two was Emma, cooking breakfast. There was one seat beside the oldest sibling, and he doesn't know if it was for Emma or him.

"Here," Shinichiro patted the empty seat beside him, giving off his closed-eye smile. "Sit here, kid."

He gladly took the offer and was met with Shinichiro ruffling his dark locks.

"Here, Takemichi-kun," Emma placed the plate of freshly cooked eggs and bacon in front of him.

"Thank you, Emma-chan."
