In San Francisco, a taxi pulled up outside of the Transvaleian Business Pyramid. Sonic looked at it, tilting his head.
"So that's the place?" Sonic asked
"Yep, that's your pyramid." Tom replies
"So, now what do we-" Maddie starts until Sonic rushed off and tried to run up the side of a building. "Oh, he's gone."
Sonic then came back since the sides of the building were too steep to run up.
"Running up is no good. I saw a door up there but it needs a special key." Sonic states
"How do we get up there?" Maddie asks
After some thinking, Tom got an idea.
"Time to abuse the power entrusted to me." Tom states. "Probably gonna hate myself for this, though."
Later, once going into the Transvaleian Building, Sonic was hidden in a dufflebag as Sonic zips it closed, Sonic feeling a little cramped and hardly able to breathe.
"Stay in there and be quiet." Tom whispered to Sonic
Tom and Maddie walked up to a receptionist as Tom pulled out his officer's badge.
"We've got a jumper up on the roof, we need to get up there otherwise we'll have a human pancake on our hands." Tom stated
The receptionist looked at the badge and asked, "You came from...Green Hills?"
"Yeah." Tom stated as he put his badge up. "That's how serious this situation is."
After some silence, the receptionist handed Tom the keys to the roof.
"You just saved a life." Tom said as him and Maddie walked off to the elevators
Maddie called the elevator and when two employees got nearby, Sonic whispered from inside the bag him and his siblings were in.
"How much longer? We can't breathe in here!" Sonic whispered
"Do you have your child in that bag?" The female employee asked
"No." Tom answers. "I mean, yes, it's a child, but, it's not mine."
"It's not your child..." The male employee responded as the two employees walked off
"Smells like body spray and an old ham sandwich." Sonic comments
When actually up on the roof, Tom set the dufflebag down and unzipped it, Sonic, Manic, and Sonia springing out and coughing.
"What were you keeping in this bag?!" Sonic said as he got out
"Okay, okay, what are we looking for?" Tom asked
When Sonic spotted his ring bag and ran over, grabbed it, hung it over his shoulders, and pulled out a ring before running back to Tom and Maddie.
"This." Sonic said, looking at the ring
"So that's it? We did it?" Tom asked
"Yeah, we did." Sonic said before looking down
Tom looked around a bit, noticed the reluctance of the three hedgehogs, kneeled down next to them and asked, "Not sure you wanna go?"
"We don't want to, man. But we just can't say." Manic stated
"As long as we're here, we're putting everyone in danger." Sonic added
TOm stood up.
"Well, i'm gonna miss you, you rainbow speedsters." Tom stated
"We'll miss you too, Doughnut Lord. And thank you." Sonic comments
"For what?" Tom scoffed
"For saving our lives." Sonic added
Tom smiled as the Sonic walked to the edge of the building to open a portal to the mushroom planet, but when he threw thie ring, however, one of Robotnik's egg drones was there as the ring bounced back, somehow landing right back in Sonic's ring bag.
"Okay, did someone leave their 'Find My Phone' on?" Sonia comments as the roof gets surrounded by egg drones
Suddenly, there was a large engine roar heard approaching, everyone turning to see Robotnik's transport/combat pod.
Sonic stepped back from the edge as the pod positioned itself in front of them all, and the pod's hatch opened, showing...
"Welcome to San Fransisco, Mr. Wachowski." Robotnik says. "Are you enjoying the Clam Chowder?"
"That's the military wack-job that keeps trying to kill us." Tom told to Maddie. "UNSUCCESSFULLY! Nice of ya to swing by on your way to Rem-Con."
"Yeah, what are you wearing, sir?" Maddie asked
Robotnik looks at his flightsuit before saying, "It's a flightsuit! Designed to modulate my body temperature and reduce drag."
"Yeah, and yet you are still one." Tom spoke
"Oooh! God one. You are catching FIRE, Tom." Robotnik states. "And speaking of heat, I see you've taken a lover. Does she have a name or should we just call her...collateral damage?"
"Hey, watch your mouth unless you want some more of what I gave you earlier!" Tom snaps before turning to Maddie. "I punched him right in the face."
"He punched him right in the face, it was awesome!" Manic comments
"The time for talking is over!" Robotnik snaps. "It's time to push buttons."
"Your flying eggs are pretty impressive, Mr. Eggman." Sonic scoffs. "But let's face it, you'll never catch me! Or my siblings!"
"Confidence..." Robotnik said with a nod before his face quickly changed. "A FOOL'S substitute for intelligence."
Just then, all the drones opened up, aiming at Sonic, Maddie, and Tom.
"Uh...Sonic, I know you and your siblings have various ways of going at high speeds, but Maddie and I..." Tom starts
"Totally defenseless? Probably gonna get blown up?" Sonic asked
"Pretty much, yeah." Maddie responds
"Don't worry, I know exactly what to do." Sonic states
Within seconds, he shoved Tom, Maddie, Manic, and Sonia of the roof of the building, them screaming as they fell, Robotnik looking over the side of his pod fr a second or two before looking back at Sonic.
"I was not expecting that," Robotnik stated. with a mild touch of shock. "But I was expecting not to expect something, so it doesn't count." he added with a shrug
Just then, all of the drones shot at Sonic, only for his medallion to flash and time to slow down for Sonic.
Sonic looked at his wrist, pretending he had a fitbit on.
"Look at this, I took 9,000,000 steps today." Sonic scoffed
Sonic then grabbed some missile, knocked some bullets own out of the air, then slammed the missiles on a couple of drones, destroyed a few more, before destroying one as he slides under it.
Just then, a button in Robotnik's ship glows blue and the cockpit closed and the ship took off, escaping Sonic's time manipulation.
Sonic then goes down the side of the building, aiming some drones at each other. However, he went wide eyed when he saw Robotnik's pod flying right at him and aiming a shot He tried to get away.
"Ah!" Sonic screamed as the shot then hit the side of the building nearly
Just then, Sonic blacked out shortly, leaving his time manipulating state as e fell as well, his rings being all over the place around him. He only woke up at the sound of Tom and Maddie's screaming and saw Manic was going downwards with his hoverboard and Sonia was riding down the side of the building on her motorbike after seeing she had turned it from a cube into a motorbike.
"Come on, come on, come on, come on!" Sonic mutters as he reached for a ring he could use to save the two
Eventually, Sonic just gives up and pulls a quill off and uses it's extra reach to obtain a ring. He then resumes running on the building and throws the ring, opening a portal below Tom and Maddie as they fall through it and land on a series of haybales by a road somewhere else, the two getting located in Green Hills.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa!" Sonic gasped before falling through a tree since the portal closed, and landing face first on the ground
The rest of the rings, along with all the dead drones, landed all around Sonic as he slowly got up with a groan, Manic and Sonia coming to a stop right next to him.
"Sonic, are you okay?!" Sonia asked with genuine concern
Sonic nodded a little, but when he got up, they looked over at Robotnik as the large pod the crooked doctor was in floated there.
"Can I give you one GENIUS piece of advice? Don't run, it'll only hurt more if you do." Robotnik states with a smirk. "And it's bad for your joints, they proved it."
"Alright, Eggman, wanna get fast? Let's get fast." Sonic responds, running around and picking up his rings and putting them back in the bag
Once Sonic had picked up all of the rings, he took off running into San Francisco, Sonia and Manic following on their respective transport methods.
"The hard way, it is." Robotnik states, putting on his goggles as his ship follows Sonic not being too far behind
They had to go fast. It was his only choice if Sonic and his siblings were to escape Robotnik. Robotnik kept shooting his ship's laser weapon at Sonic, Sonia, and Manic. The chase eventually has the two taking a hard left.
"That was an illegal left, by the way." Robotnik says, trying to shoot at the three again, but hitting a car instead
When they dodged the explosion, everything freezes again.
So, here we are again. We've been through so much together. Now you understand why there's a psychotic robot doctor chasing a super-sonic blue hedgehog and his siblings. Wanna know how it ends? Yeah, me too.
Once everything unfreezes, for whatever reason, Robotnik's sped up Bullhead spun around, still shooting at Sonic.
Sonic jumps up onto a long exterior windowsill, then jumping and making a pose to dodge another shot, then sliding back down to the ground, all while leaving a short blue streak behind him while running. He quickly slides under a truck, narrowly avoiding an explosion as Robotnik's pod is still not far behind.
"How is this possible?!" Sonic questioned as he pulled out a ring, unsure as to how Robotnik is able to keep up with him. "No one's ever caught up to me before."
Sonic opened a ring portal to somewhere random in France, running past a few random citizens, and even a local mime but not noticing while running, Manic and Sonia not that far behind.
"Coming through!" Sonic shouts
Just then, Robotnik's pod soars through the portal, going right over the mime, missing him by a few inches, no, centimeters.
"Excusez-moi monsieur." Robotnik said with a chuckle
Just then, the chase led them to a long wall in China. The Great Wall of China.
"Here we go, room to open it up!" Sonic says as he grabs yet another ring
While going along the Wall of China, Manic noticed they were failing to lose Robotnik.
"He sure is persistent!" Sonic said as Sonic opened a portal ring to Egypt, jumping past a shot
They came to a sliding stop, dodging three shots and Sonic started getting an idea when the sand was kicked up a little and Robotnik flew right past.
"If you can't beat 'em," Sonic states, smirking. "Blind 'em."
Sonic began running in circles on the ground right below Robotnik's pod, creating a sand tornado
"Lost...visual...contact!" Robotnik says, seeing through his cockpit windshield, he saw Sonic running up the side of one of the pyramids nearby, Sonia going up on her motorbike and Manic going up on his hoverboard. "You're not allowed up there, it's one of the seven wonders!"
Robotnik flew his ship right out of the sand tornado, right at Sonic and aiming his laser gun at the speedy hedgehogs, mainly Sonic. Sonic threw a ring portal, this time one to Green Hills in hopes of him and his siblings being able to escape.
The hedgehogs were getting closer and closer to the portal as Robotnik pulled the trigger.
The laser shot was about to hit the hedgehogs until...
