One Piece: Sunshine Island - Ch. 2 Vacation Awaits For The Straw Hats

It was a peaceful Friday afternoon in the New World for the Straw Hat Pirates, as the Thousand Sunny sails through the Grand Line. So far no harsh, dangerous weather occurred, much to everyone's relief. The sea was calm and soothing, the temperature was at least between 65-69 degrees, which is not too humid, and the seagulls were chirping while gliding above the ship. Yes, indeed it's a perfect day, and our heroes enjoying their usual routines.

Inside the Crow's nest, slash gym, Zoro was doing his training regimen, as usual. Holding a pair of 70-pound dumbbells from each hand, lifting them up and down, causing them to flex his muscles.

On deck, Robin was sitting on a beach chair with a parasol over her head, reading a book, drinking her ice coffee that, Sanji made for her.

Usopp, Chopper, and Aika were sitting on the Portside railing, fishing some lunch. The little youngster manage to reel up a king crab, while Usopp caught a flounder, and Chopper caught himself a hake.

"Hey, that's quite a catch there, Akia!" Usopp exclaimed.

"Thanks, Usopp," Aika smiled. "So did you!"

"Yeah," Chopper agreed. "We'll have crab cakes with a crab that big!"

"Shisisisi!" Aika giggled. "Yay crab cakes!" She cheered.

While that was going on, Blizzard and Kumi were laying on the grassy floor of the deck, having a nice soothing nap together.

Franky is on the helm, steering the ship, whistling a tune while the ocean breeze brushes through his face. Brook was practicing violin, playing his favorite song, Binks' Brew.

"Looks like smooth sailing from here, today." Said the skeleton musician.

"Yeah," Franky agreed. "It's been long since we've had nice weather here."

"It would seem so," Brook nodded. "I sure hope we don't come across any hurricanes or tidal waves."

"Same here, bone bro," Franky added. "But if we do, we'll be sure to warn our navigator in case. But I'd hardly doubt it."

"Speaking of which, where is Miss Nami?" Brook asked.

"She told me she'd worked on finishing her map," He replied. "Come to think of it, Luffy asked me the same question, too. He said something about giving her a little surprise for her."

"Oh?" Brook stroke his boney chin as he pondered. "I wonder what surprise, Mister Luffy has in stores for her?" The musician wondered.

Meanwhile, inside the library, Nami was working on her latest map of the island where Angel Grove is, while she has a nice cup of tea on her desk, along with a raspberry tart, which Sanji made for her as a snack. It's been quite nice for the orange-haired navigator, she got herself a new stack of map paper stack from Angel Grove, she was very thoughtful to the villagers for giving out all the free supplies, after saving them from the bandits. Even though it would've been nice if they'd accepted their offer the half-share of the treasure. But with a subtle reminder of how her home village had been raided and taken over by Arlong and his pirates, so she decided it's probably for the best for them to keep all of their treasure to rebuild their town.

"I sure hope the villagers will recover soon," Nami sighed. "...seeing how much they've suffered, and all their homes burn to the ground by those bandits must've been so horrible to go through." She then smiled warmly as she observe her halfway finished map. "Still, at least we did everything to help them while no one else can't. Plus with their village now safe under our protection, least that counts for something."

Just then, she heard a knock on the door.

"Huh?" She turns towards the door. "Who is it?"

"It's you know who~" a familiar voice sang, and Nami laughed knowing who it was, her boyfriend/captain, Monkey D. Luffy.

"Oh, come on in, Luffy." She said, turning back to her desk to make her final touches on her map.

The door opened as Luffy entered, with both hands behind his back, hiding something from her, snickering. He makes his way towards his beloved girlfriend/future Pirate Queen, wearing his usual wide toothy grin, still chuckling which causes the navigator to look a bit perplexed.

"What's so funny?" She asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Oh, nothing~" Luffy played innocently. It didn't take long for, Nami to notice both his arms are behind his back, which she smirked playfully at his lover.

"Ok, you got something you're hiding back there~?" She said, earning her a chuckle from Luffy.

"Perhaps," Luffy tittered. "Let's just say it's a surprise."

"Really?" Her eyes sparkled. "You mean...like...a present?" She asked as he nodded.

"Yelp," He grinned. "Close your eyes and no peeking~!"

"Alright," Nami giggled, closing her eyes. "they're closed."

"Okay, now open them."

Nami gasped when opened her eyes to see Luffy holding out a gem flower, sparkling, and shining due to the sunlight beaming through the windows.

"Surprise!" Luffy exclaimed with glee.

"Luffy..." Nami gaped.

"Thought I give this to you as a gift, do you like it?"

Nami gazed at him for a moment before her lip trembled and embraced her boyfriend captain, taking him by surprise at first, but warmly smiled, hugging her back.

"Oh, yes, it's wonderful!" She cried. "I love it!" Nami placed her lips against his, kissing him before she pulls away. "Thank you, Luffy, you're the best!"

"Shisisisisi!" Luffy laughed, scratching the back of his head. "Ah, shucks, Nami! "It's what I do to make my navigator happy." He slipped in his hand inside the side of his pocket. "But that's all."

"Hmm?" She hummed. "There's more?"

Pulling the eternal pose out, handing it out to her in the palm of his hand. "Uh-huh, check it out!" He excitedly exclaimed.

"An eternal log pose?" Nami tilts her head. "Where did you get it?"

"The old man gave it to me before we've lifted," Luffy pointed at the inscription carved into it. "It leads to Sunshine Island."

"Sunshine Island?" She asked. "I never heard of an island like that."

"Me neither," Luffy added. "But he said it's peaceful, isolated, paradise place in the world!. So I thought if it's okay that we can stop over for a little vacation, there."

"Really? You want us to go there?" Nami asked, to which Luffy responded with a nod.

"Hmmm, You know what, that's a great idea." She said.

"Of course, it is a great idea, so can go there for the weekend? Please?~ Pretty please?!" Luffy asked so eagerly, which Nami just stood there, chuckling.

"Sure. why the hell not? I mean this island you speak of, could be quite interesting for me to add it to my maps!"

"YES!" Luffy cheered, hugging his girlfriend. "You're the best, Nami! Come on, let's tell the others!"

"Okay," Nami nodded, before returning to her desk. "But I just need to finish up my work first, so I'll catch up with you."

"Okay, honey." With that, he gave her one more peck on the cheek before heading out.

After Luffy and Nami broke the news to the rest of the crew about the trip to Sunshine Island, this of course made them equally more thrilled and excited, (Mostly Aika and Kumi) about it.

"HOORAY!" Aika and Kumi cheered. "Vacation! Vacation!" They chanted.

"A Vacation on an uninhabited island, eh?" Zoro grinned, intrigued by this idea. "I could sure use one after combating those lowlife bandits. Sure, I'm gamed."

"Sounds like fun." Robin agreed. "I can sure go for nice sunbathing, myself."

"What a SUPER great idea, bro!" Franky exclaimed, sticking his usual pose. "I'm looking forward to testing out my Franky-Jet-Surf Board I've been working on last week!"

"REALLLLLLLLLLLLLYYYY?!" Luffy, Chopper, and Usopp cried with twinkling eyes. "SO COOOOOOOLLLL!"

"I can hardly believe my ears," Brook said. "Even though I don't have any. Yohohohoho!" He chortled.

"Maybe I can make some new recipes I can try out while we're spending the weekend there," Sanji said, lighting up his cigarette.

"And as for me," Nami added. "I can go out charting out the whole island for my map."

"Big Sis Nami, can me, Kumi, and my Big Brother come with you?" Aika asked, looking up at her with a big smile, which cause the navigator to chuckle.

"Why of course, Aika," She petted at the wolf-girl's head. "That is if that's alright with your brother that is, right, Luffy?" She looks at him, wearing a sweet smile at his boyfriend captain.

"Sure, little sis!" Luffy grinned. "Just as long you and Kumi stay close with us. Besides, Blizzard will come with us too, won't ya?"

"Why the hell not?" Blizzard lazily yawned, after waking up from his nap, stretching up his hind legs. "I can sure use a little workout for my legs."

"Then that settles it," Luffy said, he point his finger way up high to the sky, giving his dramatic pose. "LET SET SAIL TO SUNSHINE ISLAND!"

"YEAH!" The Straw Hats cheered, and thus was the beginning of their great vacation!
