Riley

Sex: Female (Riley is physically a female)

Gender: Currently female, but may change in the future

Changes from original: Riley is this universe's version of Frisk. She was younger than Frisk when she ended up in the underground. She can't save or load. When she resets, she loses one year of her life. Dying also affects her in ways seen in this chapter

Appearance: Currently, Riley owns no clothes. Her hair is a plain brown, similar to Classic Frisk. Her eyes are a bright red, almost like rubies. (Chara's eyes were blood red)

Backstory: Riley died as an infant, and her mother, wanting her daughter's spirit to be happy, brought the deceased baby to Mt. Ebott. The mother heard about the stories of monsters living under the mountain and thought that her daughter's spirit would be happier with a group of monsters than stuck in some boring graveyard. As Riley fell through the barrier, she absorbed some of its magic and was brought back to life.

"Chara, something is wrong," said Flowey as he appeared out of the ground. "I can't...why do you have a baby sitting on you?"

"They're one," said Chara. "They crawled on top of me, and I didn't feel like moving them."

"I don't remember you being this lazy when you were alive," deadpanned Flowey. "Anyways, I can't reset."

"So I was right," Chara said as they looked at the child that was currently chewing on her own foot. "Look like Riley here stole your reset button."

"You named it?" questioned Flowey as he watched the kid try to stick their fingers into his sister's eye sockets.

"I wasn't planning on it, but I got sick of calling them baby, kid, and other synonyms," answered Chara as they gently moved Riley's hands away from their eye sockets.

"Hmm, mind if I kill them?" asked Flowey. "You know I have the goal of killing everything-"

"In the Underground at least once," finished Chara. "You'll have to go through me." They wrapped their arms around Riley and pulled her into a tight embrace. Their hair changed color to a plain brown. Flowey sighed, knowing what Chara meant, used a vine to impale both of them through the stomach.

"Thanks," said Chara as they smiled at the flower.

"Don't do that," said Flowey as he waited for the reset to happen.

"Why not?" asked the eyeless human as their hair turned back to its usual shade of light brown.

"When the emotionless, soulless genocidal flower finds it unnerving," explained Flowey as he wondered just why the kid hadn't died yet, "then you know you have a problem."

"You aren't," Chara suddenly found herself back in front of Riley, "emotionless. You sure have bad timing, Riley."

Riley wrapped her arms around her stomach and began crying. Chara raised an eyebrow and asked, "Do you still feel the pain after a reset?" Chara grabbed Riley's arms and moved them away from her stomach. "What's that?" wondered Chara as she saw a strange mark on Riley's stomach. It looked like a child's drawing of a flower with Riley's belly button being the center.

"You didn't have that before the reset, right?" asked Chara as Riley curiously poked one of the petals. "Let me check something." They placed Riley on their lap and searched through the child's hair. 'It's hard to see, but I think I can see cracks drawn on her head.'

"Great, now I'm going to be at Snowdin every time the brat resets," complained Flowey as he joined the two.

"Hey, did the resets ever affect you physically?" asked Chara as she helped Riley learn to stand. "Riley developed marks on her after she dies, so I wonder if anything similar happened to you."

"Not that I know of," said Flowey as he used to poke the cartoonish drawing of a flower. "We should probably get the idiot to Mom, so she has another stranger to bitch to about Dad."

"Bitch," repeated Riley. This single word made Chara burst into laughter. Seeing the eyeless ghost happy, Riley said "bitch" again.

"What's so funny, princess?" asked Flowey. 'Sure, the brat saying bitch is amusing, but not that much.'

"That was Riley's first word," said a laughing Chara. "her first word was bitch."

Flowey let out a small chuckle and thought, 'maybe this kid won't be as annoying as I thought. Maybe they can help Chara.'
