Chapter Twenty-Five

Humming lightly to herself Kagome happily moved about the kitchen, dinner was almost done. The scent of meat and herbs wafting around their small home, to think she would be a homemaker. The thought made her giddy, laughing as Parker came up behind her and wrapped her in his arms.

"I missed you!" He nuzzled her neck, placing a kiss to her beating pulse. Turning in his arms she wrapped her arms around him, leaning into him as he pressed a kiss to her lips before pulling back to rest his forehead on hers. "How was your day?"

"It was okay, I saw Bai." She laughed at the small huff her mate gave at her name, still a bit miffed about Bai dragging her along on her kidnapping adventure. "Oh hush, she's fine. The Ape king gave her a home on the edges of the city for when Curtis comes looking for her." When, not if, they had no doubt he would come looking for the young girl. Even more so given the fact that she refused to remove the mating mark.

Parker let out a low hiss at the mention of the snake, his arms tightening around Kagome's waist. Pressing forward she placed a small peck on his lips. "I guess she has a bodyguard, an eagle named Muir." She paused, wondering if she should tell him of how close Bai had been to Muir but mused that there was no need, it was better kept between the females.

"She looks okay, happy even. She's settling in well. She also asked me to ask you to bring her bag and some herbs from Harvey back from the old village. If you don't mind." She laughed as he grumbled under his breath, he did after all offer.

"Okay, I'll probably go sometime next week, I want to make sure we have a backlog of food before I leave...though if you want to come with me..." Kagome blinked at the offer, she hadn't expected him to make it, most males liked to keep their females safe at home so the fact that he thought her up to such a trip made her heart skip a beat, her love for him growing.

He truly was trying to broaden his way of thinking for her and it was honestly the most attractive thing in the world to her.

"Mmm, maybe. I've been talking to a female here in the village, she is very interested in my 'magical grass' and thinks that if I branch out a few of the other females might be interested as well. The more people know about herbs and such the better I think things will be in the city."

Parker felt pride swell in his chest, already his female was making changes, he was glad they decided to stay in the city of beasts, she would be able to flourish here instead of how she had been in the old village. Judged and ostracized. He couldn't wait for everyone to see how smart and powerful she was...though he would make damn sure all the other males knew she was taken and even if she did decide to take on another mate he would always be number one.

The thought of her taking on another mate put a sour taste in his mouth but he knew it was a very real possibility, females were far outnumbered, and it was normal if not expected for females to have more than one mate, it didn't make it any less annoying.

He didn't want to share her but it wasn't up to him, it would be her choice and he would always support her choices. Plus he would always be her first, and he would always know her to her very core. He was the one to break down the walls around her heart and he knew she would never forget that.

He blinked as a semi burnt scent met his nose and quickly let go of Kagome to pull the overdone meat from the fire, fretting as Kagome gave a small yelp. "Oh shoot! I'm sorry Parker, here!" She held out a wooden plate for him to place the still simmering meat onto. A small frown on her face. "Damn, is it salvageable?" She hadn't meant to forget about the meal, an inkling of embarrassment blooming in chest.

Laughing, Parker pressed a kiss to her knuckles, "I'd eat anything as long as you made it my love." The line was corny but it made her laugh as she forgot about her brief embarrassment.

Love swelling she let herself be pulled into his lap as he sat at the table and began to feed her pieces of the over done meat, the semi burnt taste of it overpowered by the warmth in her chest, this was something she had never thought she'd be able to have, and she not only had it but she knew this was just the beginning.

Dinner finished the two found themselves lazing about, curled up together on the bed of hay and furs they called a bed. It wasn't as comfortable as the beds of the modern day era but it was better than the stiff bed rolls of the feudal era. Maybe she would have to find a way to recreate futons in this world, not only would it be more comfortable but it would also make sleep easier to come by thus making life better all around.

She would have to ask Parker's mother about how to go about ordering fabrics and what not, she knew there was a market in the large city just not where it was located. Sure, she could ask her mate but he was always so busy working and hunting to provide for them. She hadn't been lying when she told Rosa that she wanted to help shoulder the burdens.

"What are you thinking about my little mate?" Kagome giggled as Parker pressed a kiss to the top of her head, her cheek resting on his chest as she laid half on top of him.

"Mmm do you think your mother would want to go shopping with me?" Parker blinked, a smile blossoming on his lips.

"I'm sure she would love it, though my father not so much." He gave a laugh at her puzzled look, "When mother goes shopping...she goes shopping. He'll no doubt have to go jewel hunting." Kagome laughed, rolling so she could wrap her arms around his neck, her breasts pressing into his chest.

Glancing at the top of the large orbs Parker could only blink, excitement settling in the pit of his stomach as he rolled her over and pulled the top of her dress down exposing her bra like tube top. He ignored his mate's small squeak, her face flushing as she yelped out his name.

"Parker! What are you doing?" It wasn't that she was averse to the position but to go from talking about a shopping trip with his mother to being flat on her back with him pulling down the top of her dress!

"Kagome look, my mating mark!" She blinked at the emotion layered in his voice and followed his gaze, arching her neck to look down at the valley of her breasts, there above her heart rested what looked like a tattoo of some sorts, it was of a leopard face, she blinked and glanced up at to smiling Parker. Parker's happiness and joy was contagious, a smile blooming on her face as she felt him run his fingertips over the mark making her body shiver as her nipples hardened.

Warmth bloomed in her chest as he leaned down to place a kiss on the mark, nuzzling it before pulling back to press a kiss to her lips. "We'll always be linked Kagome. Even if I'm not here all you have to do is reach out to me through our mark and I'll come running, I promise." The conviction in his voice made her heart flutter as she pulled him down for another kiss, sighing as his familiar weight settled over her.
