"That was the Rhyme City Jail," Hide explained. He put his phone down on his desk. "Christopher Ames broke out of jail earlier. We are investigating why no one was notified of this. We believe some guards were helping."
"We need to investigate every guard and the warden," Harry said.
"Already on it," Hide explained. "Can I see your phone? We can try to track the call."
Harry handed Hide his phone. "Thank you," Hide said. "Listen, you and Christopher were good friends. You went to detective school together. You're the one who experienced his insanity first hand and lived to tell the tale. I need you to tell me everything you know."
Harry shuddered as he remembered that night. He hadn't even told Tamara his wife doesn't know the full story. He wrote it all down in a diary and submitted it secretly to the police. It led them to the location and most of the evidence. He had let it slip around Hide that he was the one who sent it in. He didn't know all of the details. Hide hadn't been able to see the confessions since he wasn't head detective at the time.
"I'll bring you my notes from that year," Harry said.
"Also, Detective Goodman," Hide said. "The higher-ups don't think you should be on this case. They think it's too personal for you. You know the escaped convict. You told me that he was your best friend. He's also holding your son hostage. Do you think you should stay on this case? I want your professional opinion."
"I know him the best," Harry stated. "I know his weaknesses. I need to stay on this case."
"I'll tell them I choose not to remove you," Hide explained. "Don't make me regret this."
Tim grunted as the electricity was shot through his body. His hands were hanging from the ceiling. He was on his knees. "Had enough yet?" Christopher asked.
"Not even close," Tim grunted.
"You've got your dad's fight," Christopher commented. He turned up the shocking up the device. Burns was already forming on his chestnut skin. He felt his self slipping into unconsciousness. Christoper turned off the shocker. He slapped Tim hard against the cheek. His eyes woke up. "I can't have you dying yet. I need you alive for a little longer."
