Chapter 3: It's Just You and Me

(Isabela's POV)

"What…what just happened?" Antonio asks me.

"I don't know…I really don't know. But I'm going to get her back."

"How?"

"…I have no idea. If anyone asks, tell them Becky and I are out for the day and we'll be back soon."

"You know that won't work."

"I know it won't, Antonio…but how am I going to get her back?"

"You're asking me?"

"I don't know who else to ask, Antonio. If I don't come back…tell everyone I love them."

"You might not come back?"

"Hopefully I will. Casita? Can you maybe help me out here?"

Casita responds, and a portal appears in front of the front door going out to the village.

"Well…that was unexpected. But thank you, Casita! It's been a pleasure living within your walls!" With one last hug to Antonio, I walk into the portal.

After walking through the portal, I almost get hit by a car barreling down the road, and don't notice the portal closing behind me.

"Watch it!"

"Sorry!" I move towards the house that used to appear in my dreams…and still does when I dream about mi amor, to be honest.

It's been over two years since I last had dreams about her…but they've been happening again.

"Okay. I just walk up to the door and ask to see Becky. Shouldn't be too hard." I tell myself.

I walk up to the house, and I knock on the front door.

Becky's mother comes to the door.

"Great. What do you want? And how did you get here?"

"I know you don't like me because I'm a woman married to your daughter, but I'm here to bring my wife back home."

The door is closed in my face.

I hear something above me, and I walk to the front of the house.

Becky is climbing out of the second story window that I'm assuming is her bedroom window.

"Mi amor!" I whisper shout. Becky nearly loses her grip on the window and I wince.

"Please be careful." I whisper.

She drops, narrowly missing the bush beneath her window, and she plops down safely next to the bush. Thankfully.

I run up to her and pull her into my arms.

"Oh, Isa. I've missed you so much…and it's barely been ten minutes since I last saw you."

"I know, mi amor. I've missed you, too."

"Um…how are we going to get back home?"

"We can just go through the portal I came through."

"What portal?"

I look behind me.

"Crap. What are we going to do? We can't just hop on a plane to Colombia…there was magic involved in getting us both here." I say.

"I don't know, Isa. I really don't know."

"You know what? I'm going to look on the bright side of things."

"What bright side? My parents won't let you in."

"We're together again, and that's what matters, baby girl."

"That's true…but where are we going to go for food and shelter?"

"I…don't know. You don't think your parents would have a change of heart about me?"

"I highly doubt they would. No offense."

"None taken, mi amor."

"Maybe if my parents could get to know you better, they'd see how much you care about me and love me, and how much I care about you and love you."

"That's a good idea. Let's do it." I kiss my wife's cheek.

With that, we walk towards the front door, wishing and hoping to be accepted by my in-laws, and for Becky to receive an apology from them for what they said to her.
