Blueeyeddevil06, thank you for being my beta!
Mamoru woke up with Usagi snuggled against his chest and his arms wrapped around her. She hadn't had a repeat of her nightmare after that one time last night. He was glad. He looked down at her cuddled up to him, and he was filled with deep contentment.
He had no intention of waking her up yet. He was happy to lay there and hold her while she slept. He couldn't disturb her. She loved to sleep, and he figured she was getting precious little of it with her nightmares and her role as Sailor Moon.
Sailor Moon —the perpetually bubbly Usagi was the heroine who fought youma constantly. He wondered how she remained so pure and so sweet when she was a fighter.
He smiled down at her. Somehow, she was even more perfect than he knew. Her strength floored him. With her loving family and her devoted friends, he'd always assumed it was easy for her to be happy and carefree. He was so wrong. She fought youma sent by the Dark Kingdom who were set on killing her. She also had her nightmares about her death —the ones that ended up being true. Then yesterday she found out she did die… will die…? could have died…? It was all so confusing.
The truth struck him then. She took that really well. Future Mamoru said she died, and she didn't even cry or worry about herself. Why? How was she strong enough to face that and not have it affect her more?
He inhaled her scent, and as it filled him, he realized that she believed he would protect her and keep her from dying. She trusted the man she loved and the protector that aided her in every battle.
Future Mamoru had given him everything when he discovered how to come back.
Now he had to figure out how to access a golden crystal he didn't even know had before yesterday to save a princess he loved in two lifetimes. He knew he would wholeheartedly devote himself to the training.
He smiled wide when he heard the other him making breakfast. He almost laughed out loud when he realized the two of them combined were the perfect boyfriend for her. He could hold her while she slept, and Mamoru could cook for her. She'd have the perfect morning. He then smelled coffee, and he realized that he was taking care of both of them.
As much as Usagi liked to sleep, she perked up when she smelled breakfast being made. She smiled up at him and whispered, "That was the best sleep of my life. I love being in your arms and having you comfort me when I have a nightmare. It made all the bad feelings go away."
Damn, if that didn't make him feel amazing. She needed him, and it felt so good. The woman who was his everything really needed him in her life —something he never imagined could be true.
"I've never felt love before I had you in my life. As much as I didn't remember having love, I didn't love either. Even before yesterday, you were my first love of any kind."
She blushed and buried her head in his chest. "You love Andrew. He's your friend."
Mamoru chuckled. "So Andrew is my first love," he teased.
"It makes me sad to think that you didn't love anyone."
He rolled her to her back and looked down at her. "You're probably right. But you know what I'm trying to say. I've loved you for a while."
"Well!" She huffed out. "I've loved you too, and now you know that."
"Why are you huffy about it?" He looked at her, confused.
"Because I thought I was so obvious, and you're a genius. I would have thought you'd have figured it out. No one literally runs into a man that many times."
"That was on purpose?!" he asked in shock.
She nodded and said, "I like it when you catch me. If I got really lucky, I fell on top of you."
He chuckled and began tickling her. "Minx! You did that on purpose! You ruined my purple pants —they got ripped."
"I know!" she said as her eyes danced with mirth. "That was a particularly lucky day for me. I hated those pants."
"They were my lucky pants. I was wearing them when we met."
"Ugh! Don't remind me. There you were looking all hot, and it was ruined with those stupid pants— well, and the words coming from your mouth."
She pushed him to his back and hovered over him and ghosted her fingers along his waistband. She then kissed his nose and said, "Those can be your lucky boxers. After all, this has to be even better than that day."
He caressed her cheek, "It was the day I met you. That was important."
"You're so sweet! Still not sad they were ruined. I would have met you that day even if you weren't wearing hideous pants."
He chuckled as she flopped onto her back. "I love you."
She smiled over at him, "I love you too. I like that our teasing is still there. It's just sweet now."
"I have a feeling we won't be able to help ourselves." He paused and then added, "I can't believe you didn't like those pants. I loved those pants."
She laughed and said, "You realize you looked like an eggplant when you wore them with that ugly green jacket."
He laughed and then looked at her in shock. "You don't like my jacket?!"
She rolled her eyes, "For such a good-looking man, you have terrible taste in clothes."
"Yes, but my taste in women is impeccable."
"True," she said loftily. "I'm okay with you wearing that jacket, though."
"I thought you said it was ugly?"
"It is," she said, smiling hugely. "It will scare off other women."
"And what do you want me to wear around you?"
She ran her hand over his bare chest and said, "I like what you're wearing now."
His eyes dilated with desire. "Well, you're overdressed." He then grabbed her breast and massaged it. "I want to see your boobs."
He moved and slowly lifted her nightgown, giving her plenty of time to stop him. He then feasted his eyes on her breasts. "Wow…" he whispered.
There was a knock on the door and the promise the food was ready. He couldn't believe he cock blocked himself.
"Time for breakfast," he whispered and then suckled on her nipple.
She let out a breathy sigh, "When my life is saved, I'm going to spend the day in bed with you."
"I can't wait," he promised.
Future Mamoru stood in the kitchen preparing breakfast. He'd come to a decision the night before as he lay awake. He would do everything he could for Usagi. The other him could hold her. He could cook for her and make sure her other needs were met.
Last night he struggled to sleep because he was so damn happy. She was alive! She was breathtakingly alive and happy. It was something that he hadn't even dared to hope for.
He knew he was jealous that the past him got to hold her in her sleep, but not a bit of him was bitter or upset about that fact. She needed that Mamoru to be there for her, and he wouldn't make that hard on her. Plus, it made sense to him. Any kiss they shared would be one the other him didn't experience, and he'd cease existing.
In the early morning hours, he thought about how he'd train Mamoru. He needed to show him how to use his golden crystal. Yes, he could use his and save her, but that was something else he wouldn't do to them. He wanted "her" Mamoru to save her. He needed to be her hero.
He also thought about whether the Senshi should be told about what was happening. He thought a lot about many different topics he didn't consider before he came back to save her. He didn't regret his haste, and he wanted her opinion on everything anyway.
He realized he didn't regret stealing that one kiss from her. Current Mamoru couldn't blame her since she didn't know it wasn't him, and he needed to feel for the first time in over two and a half years. He was actually proud of Mamoru for pulling him off her. He fought for her, and that pleased him.
He finished breakfast and knocked on the bedroom door to tell them the food was ready. He then walked back and plated up the meal.
When he turned around and saw Usagi, he said, "Oh, hell no! I'm trying to be good here. You need to dress for breakfast." She blushed to her ears and disappeared into the bedroom.
"I tried to tell her. Somehow she thinks a modest nightgown matters at all." He shook his head. "She's just so beautiful in everything."
"She is."
"Oh!" He said, perking up. "Do you know she hates our purple pants and green jacket?"
"What?"
"Yup! I just found that out this morning." The look of distress on future Mamoru's face made him chuckle.
"Those were my lucky purple pants!"
Usagi walked out in sweats and shrugged, "Still ugly."
"I met you wearing them."
"I already explained that to her."
She shrugged and sat down in front of her breakfast. "This looks delicious! Thank you so much!" They then all sat and began eating.
She took a bite and moaned, "This is so good!"
"I'm going to need a cold shower," both Mamorus mumbled.
