SmackDown: 8/6/2000
SmackDown was live at the HSBC Arena in Buffalo, New York. At the start of the show, Chris Jericho took on Test in a King of the Ring Qualifying Match. As the match began, Test used power moves to take Jericho down, but Y2J stayed in the thick of things. Jericho was able to to pull off the win with a Lionsault. Jericho will now move on to the King of the Ring Tournament!
As green and black balloons and confetti fell from the ceiling, the McMahon/Helmsley Regime came to the ring for a celebration party. Even though Triple H had regained his title nearly three weeks earlier, this was the first opportunity the group had to actually celebrate. The Game thanked the special people in his life, specifically his wife, Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley.
As the group hugged, The Rock's music played, and the People's Champion made his way to the stage. The Rock demanded payback from Triple H - but the Game made a case that The Rock should instead look to the Undertaker for payback. After all, said the Game, it was the Undertaker who cost The Rock the title at Judgment Day and the ensuing title match on RAW. That brought out the Undertaker, who cleaned house on DX for a while. But DX regained the advantage, and just as the Undertaker was being overpowered, The Rock ran to the ring to clean house. In the melee, the Undertaker accidentally hit The Rock with a chair after X-Pac moved out of the way. The Taker then nailed Triple H with the chair.
As the Rock went backstage, the camera cut to show the Bladewolf and Trish Stratus were watching everything on the TV in their locker room, the crowd giving the duo a loud pop at seeing them.
"I think this little joke festival just turned into parade. Wouldn't you say so?" Trish said, looking at the Bladewolf.
He nodded. "I agree. But one thing's for sure, this day just got a little more interesting."
The two chuckled as they continued to watch the show.
Backstage, The Rock asked Kane where the Undertaker went. When Kane didn't answer, Rock got mad, and the two wound up duking it out.
Too Cool defended their Tag Team Championship against the Godfather and Dean Malenko next. Although the fun-loving Malenko and Godfather put up a good fight, Grandmaster Sexay was able to pin Malenko after a Hip Hop Drop.
In the McMahon/Helmsley locker room, the Regime discussed what had happened just moments earlier, and then made the main event for the evening - Triple H, Road Dogg and X-Pac vs. Kane, The Rock and the Undertaker.
Chris Benoit again defended his Intercontinental Championship on SmackDown!, this time against Jeff Hardy. Although usually a tag team competitor, Jeff appeared to have the title won after a Swanton Bomb. But Benoit was able to get to the ropes in the nick of time and, moments later, locked on the Crippler Crossface for the win. After the match, Benoit extended his hand to Hardy, who shook it, only to be blindsided with the Intercontinental Title. As Jeff lay on the mat, Benoit flashed a sadistic grin.
The trio of Kurt Angle, Edge and Christian instantly earned the wrath of the Buffalo crowd, ragging on the Bills' Super Bowl history and the Sabres bad luck in the Stanley Cup finals. The pose for the evening was a recreation of Scott Norwood's missed field goal in the Super Bowl. The trio's opponents in a 3-on-2 Handicap Match were the Dudley Boyz, who picked up an upset, defeating Christian after a 3-D.
The Coach then interviewed Stephanie, the World Wrestling Federation Women's Champion, about the battle royal to determine a No. 1 contender. Stephanie said that the battle royal was open invitation - and then barged into the women's locker room to see who would answer the challenge, much to the surprise of the shocked (and half-dressed) ladies.
Backstage, the Undertaker confronted Kane and asked him where he was during the earlier melee with DX. Kane said that he was watching it and enjoying it, and that he would definitely be there for the six-man-tag main event.
Stephanie and Tori made their way to the ring for the battle royal, with Tori dressed in a black-and-white striped shirt. It was announced that she would be the referee for the contest! Five participants took part in the battle royal - The Kat, Terri, Lita, Ivory and Jacqueline. Terri and The Kat fought in one part of the ring as the other three divas battled in the other. After Terri eliminated The Kat, Lita quickly eliminated Terri, and then Jacqueline with a powerful hurricanrana. Finally, after a stunning top-rope moonsault, Lita pinned Ivory to earn a title shot. She pointed at Stephanie, who was doing color commentary - only to be attacked by Tori! Tori abused Lita, and when Stephanie had the timekeeper ring the bell, Lita was easy prey for the Women's Champion, who pinned her 1-2-3 for a successful title defense!
After the match, Kevin Kelly interviewed Lita, who demanded a re-match.
In another King of the Ring Qualifying Match, Matt Hardy took on Eddie Guerrero, accompanied by Chyna. After a hurricanrana, Eddie pinned Matt, meaning that both "Latino Heat" and "Mamacita" are now in the King of the Ring Tournament.
Before the show went to commercial, Bladewolf was shown coming out his locker room with Trish Stratus. The Bladewolf takes on Rikishi next!
OOOOOOWHOOOOOO!
Dead Silent plays to a pop from the fans as smoke fills the stage, the lights dimming to a familiar sinister blood red and dark blue. Trish is standong on the stage in a dark robe, dressed in leather as usual, before the Bladewolf walks out and stands in front of her, facing the ring with a dark glare on his face.
Trish walks around him, running a hand seductively across his shoulders as she walks forward to the ring while singing.
"He is time... famine, war... pestilence you cannot endure..." Trish gets in the ring and seductively rubs her body against the ropes as she continues while egtting more frantic by the second. "the end is here... the end is here! Fall and Pray! Fall and Pray! Fall and PRAY!"
The lights flash blood red repeatedly as Trish falls to her knees and moves out the way as Bladewolf appears in the ring, unleashing a primal yell as he stands under the flashing red lights while the songs repeats the 'fall and pray' part.
Bladewolf beats his chest in sync with the drum part of the theme and the song slowly ends as Trish slides between Bladewolf's legs and poses on her knees in front of him while her back is pressed against his knees.
The lights go to normal and Trish gets to her feet as Bladewolf takes off his coat followed by his short-sleeved shirt just as Rikishi's theme hits. the crowd cheers as Rikishi makes his way to the ring while Bladewolf is staring with no emotion on his face-painted face.
Rikishi had just gotten onto the ring apron and enters the ring... WHEN BLADEWOLF ATTACKS!
'Ding! Ding! Ding!'
Bladewolf was wasting little time here as he attacks Rikishi with a fury of lefts and rights, forcing Rikishi to cover up to defend himself. Bladewolf attacks with boxer punches to the stomach, head, anywhere he can hit that Rikishi didn't quickly cover up. Bladewolf lands a hard right befor ehe runs, bounces off the opposite corner, runs back and hits the turnbuckle clothesline, scoops Rikishi up... AND NAILS SNAKE EYES! Bladewolf flips his hair back, scoops Rikishi up... AND HITS THE RUNNING POWERSLAM!
Bladewolf gets to his feet and looks down at Rikishi before grabbing him, pulls him to his feet before grabbing him from behind... AND HITS THE DOOMSDAY SAITO SUPLEX! Bladewolf gets to his feet with a primal roar and beats his chest several times as he glares down at Rikishi, looking like some animal. Bladewolf grabs Rikishi from behind... AND HITS ANOTHER DOOMSDAY SAITO SUPLEX!
Bladewolf watches Rikishi trying to recover from the two big moves as he gets to his feet using the ropes but Bladewolf runs and clotheslines Rikishi over the top rope before getting out to join him. Bladewolf stomps on Rikishi a few times before he starts hammering away on him with hard right hands to the forehead then gets to his feet, flipping his hair back.
Bladewolf looks around before he stares at the barricade then grabs Rikishi before ramming his head into the barricade, sending Rikishi to his knees. Bldewolf lands a punch to Rikishi's ribs, then follows it up with a hard right hand to Rikishi's forehead. Bladewolf then grabs Rikishi... AND TIOSSES HIM HEAD-FIRST INTO THE STEEL RING POST!
Rikishi falls onto his back... AND RIKISHI HAS BEEN BUTED OPEN! RIKISHI IS BLEEDING!
Bladewolf stands over Rikishi before he starts hammering away with right hands to the cut on Rikishi's forehead before stopping. Bladewolf stomps on Rikishi a few times before picking him up and tosses him back into the ring. Bladewolf slides in after him as Rikishi stumbles to his feet and Bladewolf walks towards him when Rikishi lands a right hand, then another, then knocks Bladewolf down witha reverse elbow to the chest. Bladewolf got to his feet quickly and turns around into a clothesline from Rikishi.
Rikishi lands a few more right hands to the midsection and forehead of the Bladewolf, then Irish whips him into the corner hard enough to make Bladewolf bounce off it. Rikishi scoops him up... AND HITS THE SAMOAN DROP! Rikishi hooks the leg! ONE! TWO! THR-! Bladewolf kicks out at two!
Rikishi lands a leg drop across Bladewolf's chest before getting to his feet, grabs Bladewolf and Irish whips him into the corner, runs and nails the turnbuckle clothesline. Bladewolf stumbles forward... INTO A SUPERKICK FROM RIKISHI! Bladewolf falls back into the corner, shaking his head from the attack. Rikishi backs up a bit before he runs and hits a running hip attack, causing Bladewolf to fall down and sit in the bottom turnbuckle, set up for a familiar position.
As Rikishi walks over to get the Stinkface ready, bladewolf grabs the top ropes and big boots Rikishi in the face, causing the man to stumble back and allowing Bladewolf to get to his feet. Bladewolf then runs and clotheslines Rikishi hard enough that Rikishi actually flips over and lands hard on the mat. Bladewolf gets to a knee and starts hammering away on Rikishi's cut forehead several times with hard right hands, then he grabs Rikishi, rolls him onto his front, and then... LOCKS IN THE CROSSFACE! Or the Deathbite as he calls it.
Rikishi... TAPS OUT! RIKISHI TAPS OUT!
'Ding! Ding! Ding!'
Dead Silent plays but Bladewolf refuses to release the hold as Rikishi keeps tapping until his arm weakens and goes limp. Bladewolf eventually releases Rikishi and kicks him out of the ring to a mixed reaction from the fans. Bldewolf ignores them as he leaves the ring and grabs Rikishi... THEN IRISH WHIPS HIM INTO THE STEEL STEPS!
Bladewolf grabs the steel steps and moves them out of the way a bit so he can place Rikishi's head behind the steps. Bladewolf takes a step back before he strides forward... AND KICKS THE STEPS INTO RIKISHI'S HEAD! Rikishi goes limp as the crowd gives an even louder mixed reaction though they were stunned at this new viciousness in Bladewolf.
Bladewolf grabs Rikishi and drags him back into the ring where Bladewolf grabs him... AND LOCKS IN THE REAR NAKED CHOKE! Bladewolf keeps the hold locked in, even as blood comes out of Rikishi's mouth. Bladewolf eventually releases and shoves Rikishi off him. Bladewolf gets to his feet as Trish walks up to stand at his side and pressed her body against his as Bladewolf's theme plays...
Yeah, Bladewolf's gonna be more of a Tweener (Heel and Face at the same time) since that seems to suit his new gimmick.
