SmackDown: 15/6/2000
WWF SmackDown was live at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois. SmackDown opened with Edge taking on Grand Master Sexay in a King of the Ring Qualifying Match. During the match, Shane McMahon came to ringside, and hit Sexay with a chair, allowing Edge to score the pin and to advance in the tournament.
We would soon find out the motivation for Shane's actions, as the McMahon-Helmsley Faction headed down to the ring. Shane announced that Edge would compete again that night, teaming with Edge to take on the Dudley Boyz. After Vince bragged about the Faction's domination on Monday's RAW, Triple H took the microphone and added some fire to the six-man tag-team main event at King of the Ring, which pits him, Vince and Shane against Rock, Kane and Undertaker.
Addressing the No. 1 Contender situation, the Game said that in the unlikely event that his team was to lose at King of the Ring, whoever scored the pinfall would get a title shot in July. Of course, the Game then asked if Rock, Kane and Undertaker could really trust one another with so much on the line. Triple H said that in the likely event that his team is victorious, then he will go on to defeat the Bladewolf the next night on RAW, then defend his title in July against the winner of the King of the Ring Tournament.
Mr. McMahon then took back the microphone and declared that he had special surprises that night for Chris Jericho, the Bladewolf, the Undertaker, Kane and The Rock.
The scene suddenly shifted to New York's Times Square, where Pat Patterson, Gerald Brisco and referee Mike Chioda pulled up in a cab. The three were looking for Crash Holly, so Brisco could attempt to regain the Hardcore Championship. As the three bickered, another cab pulled up behind them, and Crash himself got out, staring at a piece of paper and mumbling something about having to find some guy for protection.
T&A, took on the Hardy Boyz. The Boyz seemed set to win, but Albert was able to hit an Avalanche, followed by a kick from Test, Matt Hardy suffered the loss for his team.
The Undertaker then arrived at the arena on his motorcycle, and it was time for Mr. McMahon (and Bull Buchanan) to give him his surprise - a warrant for his arrest. The Undertaker was arrested and charged with felony assault and car jacking after taking a car to follow Bull Buchanan on Monday's RAW. Surprisingly, Taker didn't put up a fight as he was being arrested - that is, until Mr. McMahon said, "You're not such a bad ass after all, are you?" Taker then spat his tobacco in Bull's face, and Bull attacked him! Cops pulled the two men apart and Undertaker was then taken to jail!
With the American Bad Ass out of the way, Vince felt that his work for the night was done, so he left the arena, leaving Shane to assume the reins of the company.
In a match for the final spot in the King of the Ring Tournament, Scotty 2 Hotty defeated D'Lo Brown after a DDT from the second rope.
Back in Times Square, Brisco and Patterson did some window shopping while looking for Crash. At one point, Crash walked right by them, but the Stooges never saw a thing!
Next up was the Bladewolf vs Chris Benoit for the first time.
In the arena...
OOOOOOWHOOOOOO!
Dead Silent plays to a pop from the fans as smoke fills the stage, the lights dimming to a familiar sinister blood red and dark blue. Trish is standong on the stage in a dark robe, dressed in leather as usual, before the Bladewolf walks out and stands in front of her, facing the ring with a dark glare on his face.
Trish walks around him, running a hand seductively across his shoulders as she walks forward to the ring while singing.
"He is time... famine, war... pestilence you cannot endure..." Trish gets in the ring and seductively rubs her body against the ropes as she continues while egtting more frantic by the second. "the end is here... the end is here! Fall and Pray! Fall and Pray! Fall and PRAY!"
The lights flash blood red repeatedly as Trish falls to her knees and moves out the way as Bladewolf appears in the ring, unleashing a primal yell as he stands under the flashing red lights while the songs repeats the 'fall and pray' part.
Bladewolf beats his chest in sync with the drum part of the theme and the song slowly ends as Trish slides between Bladewolf's legs and poses on her knees in front of him while her back is pressed against his knees.
The lights go to normal and Trish gets to her feet as Bladewolf takes off his coat followed by his short-sleeved shirt to reveal his ring gear underneath.
"How does a beautiful woman like Trish Stratus go with Bladewolf?" Jerry asked curiously.
Cole shook his head at his partner. "Tonight, we'll find out who Bladewolf is facing here tonight on SmackDown by choice of the Faction."
"It's gonna be a surprise, Michael." Jerry nodded. "But I know there's one eprson he won't be facing."
"Who?" Cole asked.
"The Undertaker! He's in jail!" Jerry laughed.
Chris Benoit's theme hits to boos from the fans and out comes the reigning WWF Intercontinental Champion with the title around his waist.
"Uh oh." Cole said.
"Oh yeah!" Jerry cheered. "What a great surprise this is, Michael!"
"And his opponent, from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, weighing in at 225 lbs, he is the World Wrestling Federation Intercontinental Champion... CHRIS BENOIT!" tony Chimel announced.
"Well King, Chris Benoit is the Intercontinental Champion. But this isn't about the Intercontinental Championship. Chris Benoit is the chosen choice of the Faction/ He's working with the Faction to take out the Demon Wolf." Cole said.
"And he'll cripple the Demon Wolf." jerry said firmly.
Benoit enters the ring and takes off his title, handing it to someone at ringside as his theme dies down. Trish exits the ring as Bladewolf stares his opponent down. The referee then calls for the bell.
'Ding! Ding! Ding!'
"This is the first time these two have ever met in a match." Cole said as Bladewolf and Benoit walked forward and went eye to eye. "And look at this. Bladewolf is bigger than Benoit."
Bladewolf and Benoit then lock up and have a test of strength but Benoit gets Bladewolf into a headlock, but the Demon Wolf send shim running into the ropes but Benoit rebounds, comes running back and shoulder blocks Bladewolf which takes the Demon Wolf down onto his back. Benoit rebounds off the ropes, runs across Bladewolf who jumped to his feet, grabs Benoit in a Tilt-A-Whirl, but Benoit managed to reverse it and get Bladewolf into an arm drag which brings Bladewolf down.
"Nice!" jerry exclaimed.
"Benoit doing well here." Cole nodded.
Benoit attempts to go for the Crossface but Bladewolf flips Benoit over him but Benoit manages to land on his feet. The crowd gives a round of applause for the sequence between the two wrestlers who circle each other. Benoit rushes at Badewolf but is picked up... AND SPERED INTO THE CORNER!
"Ooh!" Jerry winced.
"Bladewolf driving Benoit into the corner." Cole said. "These two have never met before, so Bladewolf has got to be careful he does not get locked into benoit's Crossface submission hold."
"And Bladewolf doesn't have a mask on anymore, so Benoit can lock that in." Jerry pointed out.
Bladewolf drives his shoulder repeatedly into Benoit's stomach before he lands some hammering right hands to Benoit's forehead but Benoit lands a kick to bladewolf's stomach and reverses their positions, hipping some chops across the chest of the Bladewolf, then delivers stomps to the stomach and legs of the Demon Wolf.
"Benoit's strategy is simple, King." Cole said. "Wear down Bladewolf, lock in the Crippler Crossface and make him tap out. But we've never seen Bladewolf tap out in a match before. He has never tapped out in his career here in WWF."
Bladewolf suddenly stands, grabs Benoit by the neck with both hands and reverses their positions, throwing Benoit into the corner. Bladewolf unloads on Benoit with a series of lefts and rights before he strikes at certain parts on the body, landing a blow to the stomach, then the ribcage, then the side of the head, then one to the forehead before he ducks a clothesline from Benoit who turns around into Bladewolf's own clothesline.
"What a clothesline!" Cole exclaimed.
Bladewolf flips his hair out of his face before he grabs Benoit and Irish whips him into the ropes, but Benoit ducks the coming big boot and Bladewolf turns around into a dropkick from Benoit.
"Nice dropkick there by Benoit." Cole said as Benoit hooks the leg. "The cover!"
"One!"
"Two-!"
Bladewolf tossed Benoit off.
"He just tossed Benoit off!" Jerry exclaimed.
"That's the strength and power of the Demon Wolf." Cole pointed out.
Bladewof and Benoit get to their feet, with Benoit grabbing Bladewolf from behind to attempt a German Suplex but Bladewolf blocks it and elbows Benoit in the side of the head, knocking him back but Benoit quickly came back as he goes for a frontal suplex but Bladewolf blocks it again, knees Benoit in the gut before he slips behind Benoit, grabs him and hits a German Suplex across the ring.
"German Suplex across the ring!" Cole exclaimed. "Benoit tried to go for one of his own but Bladewolf was quick to reverse and block."
Bladewolf grabs Benoit and lifts him onto his shoulder before he runs and hits a running powerslam, hooks the leg but Benoit kicks out at two. Bladewolf gets to his feet, flips his hair back and raises his right arm to cheers from the fans.
"I think we know what's coming next, King." Cole said.
"Oh no!" Jerry said.
Benoit makes it to his feet and turns around... INTO A GOOZLE!
"Bladewolf's got Benoit! Looking for the Chokeslam here!" Cole exclaimed.
Bladewolf lifts Benoit who gets out of Bladewolf's hold and attempts to lock in the Crossface but Bladewolf escapes and backs off. Benoit runs at Bladewolf who ducks it, rebounds off the ropes... AND TAKES BENOIT DOWN WITH A SPEAR!
"What a Spear!" Jerry exclaimed.
"Bladewolf could have this won!" Cole added.
Benoit wisely rolls out the ring before Bladewolf can attempt a pinfall. Benoit grabs his title from the timekeeper's area but Bladewolf was on the hunt as he come sup behind Benoit and grabs him, sending him into the barricade then uppercuts Benoit. Bladewolf tosses Benoit into the ring and slides in after him... BUT BENOIT STRIKES HIM IN THE HEAD WITH THE TITLE BELT!
'Ding! Ding! Ding!'
"Referee calls for the bell!" Cole exclaimed.
"For what?!" Jerry said. "He defended himself!"
Bladewolf sit sup and gets to his feet... ONLY TO BE NAILED IN THE HEAD AGAIN BY THE TITLE BELT!
"benoit drops him again!" Cole said.
"Haha!" Jerry laughed.
"Two shots to the head-" Cole started to say when Bladewolf sat up. "And Bladewolf sits up a third time!" Benoit has a look of disbelief on his face. "And look at the look on Benoit's face, he can't believe it!"
Benoit quickly leaves the ring as Bladewolf gets to his feet and glares at the Intercontinental Champion. Bladewolf's theme plays as Benoit backs up the ramp, raising the title, staring back at Bladewolf...
Off screen.
"Good match out there, kid." Christopher (Chris Benoit) said to gere as soon a she and Trish came through the curtain. George and Christopher shook hands with each other. "I hope we have more matches in the future and a possible feud."
"Well, i hear the writers might be planning that for the title." George said with a smirk.
Chris chuckles. "I look forward to that. See you around, kid." With that, Chris leaves.
"You alright?" Trish asks as she sees George rubbing a hand across his forehead and grabbing a nearby towel to remove the remaining face paint from his face. "guess this is what happens when you ask to be legit hit in the forehead with a metal title belt."
"I can take the bumps." George said with a snort as he finished cleaning his face.
Trish shook her head with a small smile. "I'm gonna go take a shower. See you around." With that, she walks off, leaving george to stare at her until he wss snapped out of it when Paul (Triple H) walked up from behind, putting an arm around his shoulder.
"She's a fine pick." Paul said with a wise tone like he was some samurai master and George was the student. George gave his friend a annoyed but amused look as Paul chuckled. "Hey c'mon, you haven't dated anybody in your time here ever since you attempted to go for Sable."
"Only to find out she was married." George said with a sigh. George had never tried to pursue an interest in other women in the WWF after Sable. He wanted to be with her, but when he found out she was married... he backed off and just focused on his wrestling career. He wasn't a homewrecker of any sorts, and wouldn't get in the way of a woman's marriage just to have her for himself.
Paul patted his shoulder. "I'm sure you'll find someone... like a certain blonde-haired valet that just left you to shower."
"Oh shut up." George said with a chuckle as he walked away, Paul walking after him, still teasing him about a relationship with Trish.
"You two should get to know each other more." Paul suggested. "I mean, dude, you're as cold-hearted and closed off as Mark is just to keep yourself in character. I mean, mark is the Undertaker even outside of WWF, and you remain in character as well outside the ring... sometimes. Ever took drama school?"
"I was good at drama and acting enough that I can act like I have a different personality." George said with a nod. It had been a good skill to have and it's how he makes himself feel different when heading out to the ring. When his music hits and he walks out, the Bladewolf persona takes over. That was just how good he was at acting in school, he's able to get completely in tune with the character he plays and seems to become a different person.
"Look, all I'm saying is... she might be the girl for you." Paul said, giving George one more pat on the shoulder before walking away as George paused, looking off in the direction Trish had went in to the women's locker room...
Sorry for the lack of off screen chapters, so I decided to put an off screen moment into this chapter at the end and Bladewolf's thoughts on pursuing a relationship. He's still a little sore about how things with Sable went, being that he pursued a married woman and isn't a homewrecker of any sorts so he backed off and just focused on his career rather than dating anybody.
Next chapter will be an off screen one so as to develop the friendship with George and Trish that will eventually become a relationship.
