RAW is WAR: 22/1/2001
RAW is WAR was live at the Cajundome in Lafayette, Louisiana. A pissed off Triple H and Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley came to the ring as RAW kicked off.
The Game, clutching a sledgehammer, told the sell-out crowd that he had been looking forward to going to Lafayette for a very long time - because he was supposed to be the champion, and it was supposed to be his night. But Stone Cold Steve Austin ruined all of Triple H's plans! Triple H went on to say he was tired of everything involving Stone Cold, so as soon as Austin got in the building, he would be waiting with his sledgehammer. He said Austin would see it coming, but he wouldn't be able to stop it. Triple H said that he would have his night, and he would finish it by standing over Stone Cold's bloodied body!
Kurt Angle's music then hit and the World Wrestling Federation Champion came out and told Triple H he should stop whining. Angle said the only person who cost the Game the title, it was Kurt Angle. Kurt said that Triple H should spend less time crying and more time trying and he might actually win something! After the Game threatened Angle with a sledgehammer, Kurt suggested that Triple H couldn't beat anyone with natural ability - he always won using foreign objects! The Game then challenge Kurt for the title later on RAW - a challenge Kurt accepted!
In the parking garage, a limo carrying Mr. McMahon arrived. When Michael Cole asked Vince his opinion on the match just made. Vince said that in the interest of fairness, the match may not take place at all!
William Regal put his European title on the line against Test. Before the match began, the Goodwill Ambassador aplogized to the fans because he wasn't exactly going to be nice to his opponent. The match was a physical affair, and Test picked up the shocking win over Regal after hitting him with a flying elbow!
In Mr. McMahon's dressing room, Triple H demanded to know what Vince meant by saying his match may not take place at all. The Game asked Vince who he was looking out for, in the "interest of fairness". Vince then told Triple H to go get ready, because there was a good chance his match would happen anyway.
Faarooq and Bradshaw, joined at ringside by Jacqueline, faced the Hardy Boyz, who were joined by Lita. Jeff and Matt Hardy seemed to be arguing with each other throughout the match, which was an APA-style brawl. Faarooq picked up the win after pinning Jeff Hardy.
Triple H complained to his wife about the fact that Vince might cancel his match, and Stephanie said that her dad would make the right choice. Stephanie went to talk to her father and told him the Triple H's match should go on, and Vince maintained that he was taking the match under advisement.
In an interview taped earlier, Michael Cole asked The Rock his feelings about the Royal Rumble. The Great One said he was disappointed that he didn't win the Rumble. He wanted to go to WrestleMania and fight for the championship. The Rock said his goal was to once again become the Federation Champion, no matter what he had to do.
Next up, the Rock teams with the Bladewolf to take on Chris Benoit and the Big Show.
In the arena, Chris Benoit's theme hits and the Rabid Wolverine comes out, making his way down to the ring. "The following tag team contest is scheduled for one-fall! Introducing first, from Winnipeg, Canada, weighing 229 lbs... CHRIS BENOIT!" Lillian Garcia announced as Benoit slides into the ring and paces around inside the ring as his theme dies down.
The Big Show's theme hits next and out comes the giant superstar as he makes his way down to the ring. "And his tag team partner, weighing in at 500 lbs... THE BIG SHOW!" Lillian Garcia announced.
"And we saw the damage done by this man last night at the Royal Rumble." JR said.
"And he's back, badder than ever." Jerry nodded.
"And he Chokeslammed the Rock through our announce table last night." JR pointed out.
Big Show enters the ring and walks over to Benoit, the two partners fist bumping each other. Bog Show's theme soon dies down and the two superstars wait for their opponents.
OOOOOOWHOOOOOO!
Dead Silent plays to a pop from the fans as smoke fills the stage, the lights dimming to a familiar sinister blood red and dark blue. Trish is standing on the stage in a dark robe, dressed in a black top that gave a great view of her cleavage, wore a black leather skirt that stopped mid-thigh, giving a great view of her long legs and wore a black cowgirl hat, before the Bladewolf walks out, the Intercontinental Championship around his waist, and stands in front of her, facing the ring with a dark glare on his face.
Trish takes the robe off, then walks around him, running a hand seductively across his shoulders as she walks forward to the ring while singing.
"He is time... famine, war... pestilence you cannot endure..." Trish gets in the ring and seductively rubs her body against the ropes as she continues while getting more frantic by the second. "the end is here... the end is here! Fall and Pray! Fall and Pray! Fall and PRAY!"
The lights flash blood red repeatedly as Trish falls to her knees and moves out the way as Bladewolf appears in the ring, unleashing a primal yell as he stands under the flashing red lights while the songs repeats the 'fall and pray' part.
Bladewolf beats his chest in sync with the drum part of the theme and the song slowly ends as Trish slides between Bladewolf's legs and poses on her knees in front of him while her back is pressed against his knees.
The lights go to normal and Trish gets to her feet as Bladewolf takes off his coat followed by his short-sleeved shirt to reveal his ring gear underneath. Bladewolf takes off the Intercontinental Championship, handing it to Trish, who gets out the ring to stand at ringside.
"Bladewolf is not afraid to enter the ring by himself." JR said as Bladewolf stares down Benoit and Big Show who stared back. "The Bladewolf was impressive last night, entering the Royal Rumble at number 1 and outlasted everyone else, eliminated Stone Cold Steve Austin last to win the Royal Rumble for the first time in his career. Bladewolf made history in becoming the 2nd man to win a Rumble as the first superstar in the match, Shawn Michaels being the first."
"And he eliminated ten men." Jerry pointed out.
The Rock's theme hits to a pop from the fans as Bladewolf keeps his eyes on Benoit and Big Show, not breaking eye contact with Benoit as the Rock makes his way down to the ring.
"And his partner, from Miami, Florida, weighing 270 lbs... THE ROCK!" Lillian Garcia announced before leaving the ring.
The Rock had just gotten onto the ring apron when Benoit tries to attack Bladewolf from behind, but gets decker with a right hand. The referee calls for the bell to begin the matchup.
'Ding! Ding! Ding!
"Look at Benoit and Bladewolf!" JR said as Bladewolf and Benoit slugged it out. "These two have never been great friends nor will they. Benoit wants the Intercontinental Championship but Bladewolf has beaten him at every turn. Bladewolf has held the title since winning it from Benoit at SummerSlam."
Bladewolf knees Benoit in the stomach and goes for German Suplex but Benoit manages to slide out and wrap his arms around Bladewolf, only for Bladewolf to hip toss Benoit into a headlock that Benoit managed to break out of and they locked up into a collar and elbow tie up before Bladewolf landed a knee to Benoit's stomach, then brings a forearm down across Benoit's back.
"Forearm by Bladewolf." JR said as Benoit crawls over and tags in Big Show. Bladewolf tilts his head as Big Show enters. "And look at this stand off. These two monsters facing each other down."
Bladewolf uppercuts Big Show, who retaliates with a clothesline that floors the 2001 Royal Rumble winner but Bladewolf gets to his feet and blocks a right from big Show, then starts unloading with a fury of lefts and rights before Big Show headbuuts Bladewolf.
"What a headbutt1" Jerry exclaimed as Big Show picks Bladewolf up and Irish whips him off the ropes. "What's he gonna do here?" Big Show lifts Bladewolf up into a military press. "oh my God!"
"Look at the strength of this man!" JR said. "Bladewolf is 310 lbs and Big Show is lifting him like he weighs nothing!"
Big Show slams Bladewolf down to the mat before tagging in Benoit who comes in and stomps on Bladewolf before pulling him to his feet, Irish whips him off the ropes then delivers a double axe-handle to the forehead of the Demon Wolf. Benoit pulls Bladewolf to his feet again, landing a few right hands, causing Bladewolf to stumble back and lean on the ropes.
"Benoit getting the upper hand here." JR said.
Bladewolf blocks a right then floors Benoit with one of his own, but Benoit came right back with a right of his own then a knee to Bladewolf's stomach before he brings both forearms down onto Bladewolf's back, sending the Demon Wolf to his knees but he suddenly tackles Benoit down, rolls ove rhim... AND TAGS IN THE ROCK!
"He got it!" Jerry exclaimed.
"And here comes the Rock!" JR said.
The Rock comes into the ring and unloads on Benoit as Bladewolf rolls out the ring. The Rock throws a fury of rights to Benoit, Irish whips him off the ropes, then picks him up... AND DROPS HIM WITH THE SAMOA DROP!
"Samoa Drop!" JR exclaimed.
The Rock hooks the leg. "One!"
"Two!"
"Thr-!"
Benoit kicks out at two.
Both men make it to their feet and the |Rock goes to irish whip Benoit, who reverses it and sends the Rock to Big Show who tries to clobbers the Rock but the Rock blocked it and lands a right hand to the Big Show's face, knocking the big man down on the apron.
"oh no!" Jerry said.
The Rock and Benoit go at it again but Benoit manages to hit a back suplex and hooks the Rock's leg.
"There's the cover!" JR said.
"One!"
"Two!"
"Thr-!"
Bladewolf come sin and breaks it up with a stomp to Benoit
"Bladewolf stopped the count." JR said as Bladewolf runs and knocks Big Show off the apron. "And now he's going after Big Show!"
Bladewolf exists the ring and starts attacking Big Show, Irish whipping him into the barricade hard. Bladewolf and Big Show fight it out at the bottom of the ramp until Big Show grabs Bladewolf by the throat, lifts him up... AND PLANTS HIM WITH A CHOKESLAM ON THE FLOOR!
"A Chokeslam on the floor!" JR exclaimed.
"That's it for Bladewolf, call the EMTs!" Jerry said. "Get help out here! He's done! Could've broken his back!"
Later in the match
The Rock hadn't been doing well on his own now that Bladewolf had been taken out of the match. The Rock was unable to tag out and recover from the punishment Benoit and the Big Show dish out, allowing the two heel superstars to overpower the Rock at every turn. However, right now, the Rock had tossed Benoit out of the ring after avoiding a charging Benoit from crashing into him.
As Benoit began getting to his feet, the crowd began cheering... AS THE BLADEWOLF WALKS OUT AND IS MAKING HIS WAY DOWN TO THE RING!
"It's the Bladewolf!" JR exclaimed.
"How the hell is he still standing?!" Jerry shouted.
Bladewolf limped his way down and uppercuts Benoit before throwing him into the steel steps. Bladewolf picks Benoit up and tosses him into the ring but falls to his knees afterwards, still in pain after being Chokeslammed on the floor by the Big Show.
In the ring, the Rock goes for an irish whip but Benoit reverses it and goes to clothesline the Rock, who ducks it, hooks him up... AND HITS THE ROCK BOTTOM!
"Rock Bottom!" JR exclaimed.
The Rock hooks the leg "One!"
"Two!"
"Three!"
"Oh my God!" Jerry shouted.
'Ding! Ding! Ding!'
The Rock's theme plays as the Rock celebrates victory. "Here are your winners... THE BLADEWOLF AND THE ROCK!"
"The people's Champion and the Demon Wolf have won a hard-fought match here live on RAW!" JR said as the Rock poses on the turnbuckles.
The Big Show enters the ring and the Rock turns around... INTO A GOOZLE! Big Show lifts the Rock up... AND PLANTS HIM WITH A CHOKESLAM! Bladewolf slides into the ring and clobbers Big Show from behind, but he was still hurt, which allow Big Show to grab him by the throat, lift him up... AND PLANT HIM WITH A CHOKESLAM AS WELL!
Benoit walked up and shoved Big Show, the two arguing but that just ended with Big Show giving Benoit a Chokeslam as well before he left...
