SmackDown: 1/2/2001

Thursday night SmackDown was live at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio. SmackDown kicked off with the Tag Team Championship on the line in a Table Match, as the Dudley Boyz defended against the Hardy Boyz. A spectacular match was made even more intense when the Hardyz brought a ladder into play! The men soon battled their way up the entrance ramp, where Buh Buh Ray Dudley gave Jeff Hardy a full nelson slam off the stage through two tables! That move allowed the Dudleyz to retain their Tag Team Championship!

Backstage, Stone Cold Steve Austin was shown in a locker room, watching the action and drinking a few Steve-weisers.

After the break, Matt, Jeff, Buh Buh Ray and D-Von were all shown in the locker room area writhing in pain after their table match. Lita came over to check on the Hardyz, and Matt told her not to worry - and to go out and defeat Ivory for the Women's Championship.

Lita then headed to the ring for a Triple Threat Match for the Women's Championship, pitting her against Jacqueline and Ivory. Lita hit the moonsault on Jackie, but Ivory snuck up behind Lita and threw her out of the ring, and then Ivory covered Jackie to retain her title!

Triple H and Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley then entered their locker room to find it covered in empty beer cans and reeking of beer. Stone Cold had been drinking in the McMahon/Helmsley locker room.

The Texas Rattlesnake then came out of the bathroom - much to Stephanie's horror! Taking advantage of the contract stipulation which subjects Triple H to a six-month suspension if he touches Austin before No Way Out, Stone Cold further aggravated the Game and his wife, before leaving them in their locker room, seething with rage.

Edge & Christian came to the ring to say that they had been booked in the toughest match of their careers - against Kaientai! As Edge laughed, Taka and Funaki came to the stage, where Taka informed Edge & Christian that Funaki had come down with a rash and would be unable to compete. However, because they are evil, they introduced Edge & Christian's new opponents - the Acolytes! At one point, Edge & Christian were about to give Faarooq the con-chair-to, but Funaki pushed Faarooq out of the way, sacrificing himself to the con-chair-to. Moments later, Faarooq picked up the pin after nailing Christian with a spinebuster.

The Coach then interviewed Billy Gunn about Chyna's recent media appearances. As "The One" talked about the Ninth Wonder of the World, the Big Show snuck up from behind to interrupt. After knocking Billy to the ground, the Show said that he had been gone for six months and he had yet to be interviewed since his return. The Big Show said that he was back in town, and that was bad news for the other World Wrestling Federation Superstars.

Bladewolf is shown backstage with Trish Stratus in their locker room, Bladewolf getting a message from his girlfriend.

"You seem tense, Bladewolf. It's not good to be tense all the time, you need to relax some more. If you want, I could help relieve that tension tonight." Trish said in a sultry voice as she seductively massaged her boyfriend's shoulders.

"Hmm, believe me, my dear, I would love nothing more than to spend the night in your embrace. But unfortunately, I have a championship to defend later." Bladewolf said, reffering to the fact he was defending his Intercontinental Championship tonight against Tazz.

Trish humme. "That's too bad. How about some motivation? If you win your match, I'll fulfil your every desire and I mean every desire you have."

Bladewolf stands to his full height. "Say no more."

Next up was the Bladewolf vs Tazz for the WWF Intercontinental Championship.

In the arena...

OOOOOOWHOOOOOO!

Dead Silent plays to a pop from the fans as smoke fills the stage, the lights dimming to a familiar sinister blood red and dark blue. Trish is standing on the stage in a dark robe, dressed in a black top that gave a great view of her cleavage, wore a black leather skirt that stopped mid-thigh, giving a great view of her long legs and wore a black cowgirl hat, before the Bladewolf walks out, the Intercontinental Championship around his waist, and stands in front of her, facing the ring with a dark glare on his face.

Trish takes the robe off, then walks around him, running a hand seductively across his shoulders as she walks forward to the ring while singing.

"He is time... famine, war... pestilence you cannot endure..." Trish gets in the ring and seductively rubs her body against the ropes as she continues while getting more frantic by the second. "the end is here... the end is here! Fall and Pray! Fall and Pray! Fall and PRAY!"

The lights flash blood red repeatedly as Trish falls to her knees and moves out the way as Bladewolf appears in the ring, unleashing a primal yell as he stands under the flashing red lights while the songs repeats the 'fall and pray' part.

Bladewolf beats his chest in sync with the drum part of the theme and the song slowly ends as Trish slides between Bladewolf's legs and poses on her knees in front of him while her back is pressed against his knees.

The lights go to normal and Trish gets to her feet as Bladewolf takes off his coat followed by his short-sleeved shirt to reveal his ring gear underneath. Bladewolf takes off the Intercontinental Championship, handing it to the referee as Trish gets out at ringside.

Tazz's theme hits and the former ECW superstar makes his way down to the ring.

"this is gonna be a fight, King." Cole said. "This will be the first time Tazz and the Bladewolf have met in action and it's for the Intercontinental title. Bladewolf won the title back at SummerSlam in August and has held the title since then. For 158 days, Bladewolf has been the Intercontinental Champion and defeated all challengers in the process, Tazz may just end up being added to that list."

"Yeah, and he's got the reward of being with trish tonight!" Jerry said with envy. "i'm so jealous!"

"Well, go tell him that and see what happens!" Cole challenged.

"No thanks!"

Tazz enters the ring... AND THEY GO AT IT!

'Ding! Ding! Ding!'

Bladewolf tackles Tazz and gets him into the corner right away, driving his shoulder repeatedly into Tazz's stomach, pulls him close and hits a belly-to-belly suplex across the ring.

"Look at the strength and power of the Wolf of Destruction and Darkness!" Cole exclaimed.

"What power." jerry agreed.

Bladewolf walks over to Tazz who is getting to his feet in the corner, but Bladewolf throws some boxer punches at Tazz, striking anywhere all over Tazz's upper body, too quick for Tazz to block and defend himself. Tazz suddenly shoves Bladewolf... AND SLAPS HIMA CROSS THE FACE!

"Oh no!" Jerry said with wide eyes.

"That... might not have been smart on Tazz's part." Cole said. "You do NOT want to upset the Demon Wolf."

Tazz was quick to land some chops to the Bladewolf's chest, then Irish whips Bladewolf who reverses it. tazz rebounds off the ropes, ducks Bladewolf's right hand and turns into a clothesline from Bladewolf who had been quick to stop and whirl around. Bladewolf stomps on Tazz several times before he drives his boot down on Tazz;s neck, causing the referee to step in but gets scared off when Bladewolf whirls on the referee.

Bladewolf goes back to punishing Tazz as he stomps on him, grabs him from behind and hits a German Suplex across the ring. Bladewolf gets to his feet and pulls the straps of his ring attire to his waist, flips his hair back and adjusts his elbow pads before walking towards Tazz.

"Bladewolf's ready to finish this." Cole noted.

Tazz stumbles to his feet and turns around only to be hoisted onto Bladewolf's right shoulder, held upside down in front of Bladewolf... WHO HITS THE TOMBSTONE PILEDRIVER! BLADEWOLF HOOKS THE LEGS!

"One!"

"Two!"

"Three! Ring the bell!" The referee called.

'Ding! Ding! Ding!'

Dead Silent plays as Bladewolf gets to his feet. "Here is your winner and STILL World Wrestling Federation Intercontinental Champion... THE BLADEWOLF!" Tony Chimel announced as Trish slides into the ring, Intercontinental Championship in hand, and leaps into Bladewolf's arms, wrapping her arms and legs around him and slamming her lips against his as she grinds on him while draping the title on his shoulder.

"Woah." Jerry said as he watched.

Bladewolf puts Trish down and raises his title before he throws his arms down, causing lightning to hit the turnbuckles and fire explodes from them, the lights turning to the sinister blood red and dark blue. The couple then leave the ring and head to the back...

he Kat then came out to the stage and said she wanted to take "extreme" to a whole new level. She said she would give everyone exactly what they wanted to see - full frontal nudity! But as Kat prepared to take off her bikini top, out came the Right to Censor! Steven Richards was irate at the Federation fans for nearly allowing such a thing to happen! He said that if the fans wanted to see extreme, then the Right to Censor would show them something truly extreme, and it would be for their own good.

Finally, The Rock had come back to Columbus! The People's Champion talked to Kevin Kelly about the Triple Threat Match on SmackDown! Xtreme.

The Rock promised to win the title and to headline WrestleMania for the third year in a row.

Stone Cold then drank a few beers in the locker room area, and shook up a few others.

In a match after their earlier confrontation, the Big Show took on Billy Gunn. The Show pinned "The One" after a chokeslam.

Lilian Garcia talked to Kurt Angle about the Triple Threat Match. Angle said that the developments earlier in the night didn't surprise him, and that nothing surprised him in the Federation anymore. He said that all anyone wanted was to see him lose his title - and he promised that wouldn't happen.

Kevin Kelly talked to Kane and the Undertaker. The Taker said that on Monday's episode of RAW is WAR, Haku and Rikishi had unearthed a side of him that fans hadn't seen in a while, and he liked it. He promised to bust the island boys open later in the night. Kevin then asked Kane why he and the Bladewolf had gotten back together with their brother, and Kane said that blood was thicker than water.

The match between the Brothers of Destruction, Rikishi and Haku was next.

The Undertaker and Kane took on Rikishi and Haku in the first ever tag team First Blood match. The rules were that the first duo who is busted open are the losers. After a monstrous brawl, Kane nailed Rikishi with the ring steps, and the Taker creamed Haku with a chair. Both the Samoans were busted open as Taker and Kane won the match!

However, the fighting continued even after the match ended, and the crowd cheered when the Bladewolf came sprinting down, steel chair in hand. Kane whirls Rikishi around... AND BLADEWOLF CRACKS HIM OVER THE SKULL!

"Bladewolf with a chair shot to the skull of Rikishi!" Cole exclaimed. "Payback for the chair shot Rikishi gave Bladewolf on RAW."

undertaker's theme plays as the Brothers of Destruction stand tall in THEIR yard. They raise their arms then throws them down, causing fire to explode from the turnbuckles in the process...

I really love the 2001 version of the Brothers of Destruction.
