SmackDown: 1/3/2001
SmackDown was live at the Tucson Convention Center in Tucson, Arizona. Former World Wrestling Federation Champion Kurt Angle made his way to the ring as the March 1 episode of SmackDown kicked off! Angle demanded that the crowd be quiet as he ran down his long list of accolades. He said he'd accomplished every one of his goals - which is why he was upset after not accomplishing his goal of snapping The Rock's ankle on RAW is WAR. Angle said that he has been paying close attention to this Bladewolf/Stone Cold Steve Austin thing going on and that he should be involved in it.
The American hero then issued a challenge to Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Bladewolf- he said he would face the first man to answer his challenge on SmackDown, and he would make sure that person left the arena on a stretcher.
The sounds of broken glass then filled the Tuscon Civic Center, as the Texas Rattlesnake marched to the ring! Austin said he and Bladewolf weren't friends, but there is one thing they could agree on and that is they want this to be just about the two of them and they would rather Angle piss off than get involved in their business. Austin said that since Angle wasn't Federation Champion, he had no interest in his health.
OOOOOOWHOOOOOO!
Dead Silent plays to a pop from the fans as the Bladewolf and Trish Stratus walk out and make their way down to the ring.
"And here comes Austin's WrestleMania opponent." Cole said. "We saw these two confront each other this past Monday on RAW, and Bladewolf announced he'll be putting his Intercontinental Championship on the line as well."
Bladewolf and Trish enter the ring, Trish handing a microphone to her boyfriend and stepping back in the corner as Bladewolf's theme dies down. Trish was also holding the Intercontinental Championship in her hands.
"Kurt Angle. You actually got the balls to come out here and run your mouth to stir things up between me and Austin. I don't really care cause me and Austin have something you don't have and never will have."Bladewolf looks to Austin. "Me and Austin for the WWF title at WrestleMania and most importantly, a date with destiny."
"You can feel the intensity." JR said.
'Bladewolf! Bladewolf! Bladewolf!' The crowd chanted as Bladewolf and Austin continued their staredown.
"Austin, let me make one thing perfectly clear to you... I don't give a crap about your interest in my health." Bladewolf said as he gets right up in Austin's face, causing the crowd to cheer as Austin just smirks. "I WILL be at WrestleMania 100%, so don't worry about that. All I say is for you to be healthy between now and WrestleMania. I will take no excuses."
"hey! hey! I just wanna say-!" Angle started to say when Bladewolf's baseball bat suddenly slides out of his right sleeve and he grips the bat, pointing it at Angle who backs up into the corner.
"Bladewolf's got his trusty baseball bat." Cole said.
Bladewolf turns his attention back to Austin befor ehe looks back at Angle and faces him. "Angle... the last time you and I were meant to meet in this ring, it was for the WWF title, I was the Champion, but injury prevented me from taking your damn soul. However, I will give these peopl the chance to see that... tonight."
"Bladewolf wants Kurt Angle tonight!" Cole exclaimed over the cheers.
"Oh yeah!" JR said.
Suddenly Vince McMahon's theme hits to boos from the crowd and out comes Vince and William regal who make their way down to the ring and enter. Bladewolf and Austin are still staring each other down, even as Vince gets a microphone and his theme dies down. Vince looks between Bladewolf and Austin who have not broken eye contact.
'Asshole! Asshole! Asshole!' The crowd chanted at Vince.
"I certainly hope everyone appreciates the gravity of this ituation." Vince said, ignoring the crowd "Quite frankly, I'm impressed. I'm impressed. I'm certainly not impressed with these rude people here in Arizona. But I am impressed with Kurt Angle. When you consider the size of the grapefruits that it takes to come out here and challenge, in one night, either Stone Cold or the Bladewolf, that's impressive. And of course we do have a problem that you have created, Kurt. Which one of these two men will you face here tonight? Well, I am a problem-solver. Bladewolf, you are going to be in action tonight... but not against Kurt Angle."
"Oh come on." Cole threw a hand up as the crowd booed while Bladewolf finally looked at Vince.
"You will be defending that Intercontinental Championship against a most deserving individual.. William Regal." Vince announced to the boos from the fans as Bladewolf turns his dark stare to a now nervous looking William Regal. "Which leaves you, Stone Cold. As far as you go, you will face Kurt Angle in a non-title match."
"Well if it's gonna be me and Kurt Angle, ain't no reason to wait until later-!" Austin drops the microphone and attacks Angle as Bladewolf attacks Regal and sends him out of the ring as Austin's theme plays.
Backstage, Lilian Garcia interviewed Jeff Hardy, asking about the new relationship between Matt Hardy and Lita. Jeff said that he had always looked at Lita as a sister, and he said Matt apparently looked at her differently. He said that he wasn't spending as much time with his brother as he used to, but he was happy for him and Lita.
The opening match on SmackDown! was a mixed tag match pitting Matt and Lita against Crash and Molly Holly.
Matt won the match for his team, pinning Crash after a Twist of Fate. The happy couple embraced in the ring after the bout.
In the Radicalz' locker room, Chris Benoit told Eddie Guerrero that he didn't trust him anymore, and that Guerrero had better stay away from the ring when Benoit took on X-Pac later in the night. Guerrero said that after all he had done for Benoit, he had no right to talk to him that way. Benoit reiterated his warning, and told Guerrero to stay away.
Backstage, Buh Buh Ray Dudley was talking on a pay phone when he was viciously attacked from behind by Christian, who repeatedly pounded on him with a steel chair.
Elsewhere, Ivory, Bull Buchanan and the Goodfather of the Right to Censor stood in front of a locker room door. Ivory listened at the door, and told the men that someone inside was still being interrogated. Goodfather said he hoped the rumors weren't true.
Next up, Benoit took on X-Pac, who was accompanied to the ring by Justin Credible. As the match began, Guerrero sauntered to ringside to provide color commentary for the bout! As the bout began, fellow Radicalz Dean Malenko and Perry Saturn headed to ringside to try to cool Guerrero down. When Credible tried to interject himself into the match, Guerrero snuck in the ring and knocked X-Pac down. Benoit then locked X-Pac in the Crossface, earning a submission victory. After the bell, Saturn and Malenko attacked Credible as Guerrero and Benoit stared each other down.
Backstage, Ivory, Bull and the Goodfather were still listening at the door when Steven Richards emerged from the room - and Val Venis was seen inside the room, not looking too happy. Steven told the trio that he feared the worst, and he told them to prepare to take action. Steven then went back into the room and was heard to scream, "How could you do this to us? Why? Why?"
Up next was Bladewolf vs William regal for the Intercontinental Championship.
in the arena, William regal's theme hits and out he comes to boos. "The following contest is scheduled for one-fall and is for the World Wrestling Federation Intercontinental Championship!" Tony Chimel announced. "Introducing the challenger, from Blackpool, England, weighing in at 240 lbs... WILLIAM REGAL!"
Regal walks down to the ring and enters, grabbing a microphone as he goes to speak.
OOOOOOWHOOOOOO!
Dead Silent plays to a pop from the fans as smoke fills the stage, the lights dimming to a familiar sinister blood red and dark blue. Trish is standing on the stage in a dark robe, dressed in a black top that gave a great view of her cleavage, wore a black leather skirt that stopped mid-thigh, giving a great view of her long legs and wore a black cowgirl hat, before the Bladewolf walks out, the Intercontinental Championship around his waist, and stands in front of her, facing the ring with a dark glare on his face.
Trish takes the robe off, then walks around him, running a hand seductively across his shoulders as she walks forward to the ring while singing.
"He is time... famine, war... pestilence you cannot endure..." Trish gets in the ring and seductively rubs her body against the ropes as she continues while getting more frantic by the second. "the end is here... the end is here! Fall and Pray! Fall and Pray! Fall and PRAY!"
The lights flash blood red repeatedly as Trish falls to her knees and moves out the way as Bladewolf appears in the ring, unleashing a primal yell as he stands under the flashing red lights while the songs repeats the 'fall and pray' part.
Bladewolf beats his chest in sync with the drum part of the theme and the song slowly ends as Trish slides between Bladewolf's legs and poses on her knees in front of him while her back is pressed against his knees.
The lights go to normal and Trish gets to her feet as Bladewolf takes off his coat, followed by his short-sleeved shirt. Bladewolf hands his Intercontinental Championship to the referee... WHEN REGALL ATTACKS FROM BEHIND!
'Ding! Ding! Ding!'
Trish was quick to get out of the ring as Regal hammers away on Bladewolf's back and land some knees to Bladewolf's ribs, but Bladewolf shoved him off then elbows him in the head before clotheslining him.
"What a clothesline by Bladewolf." JR said.
Regal gets to his feet only to be grabbed from behind but Regal holds onto the ropes as Bladewolf attempts a German Suplex, but seeing he couldn't, Bladewolf then clobbers Regal across the back with a forearm, sending regal to his knees. Bladewolf then drives a knee into the side of Regal's ribs, then grabs him from behind and hits the German Suplex across the ring.
"Nice German Suplex there." Cole said. "you have to wonder what is going through Bladewolf's mind right now. he wants a title vs title match with Austin at WrestleMania, but if he loses, then he just gets the WWF Championship at WrestleMania."
"Bladewolf has been Intercontinental Champion ever since SummerSlam. 186 days as WWF Champion, that is impressive. he's beaten all challengers." JR said. "William regal, as experienced as he is, he may just end up being added to that list of challengers that failed to take the title off Bladewolf."
Bladewolf grabs Regal and drives him into the corner, driving his shoulder repeatedly into regal's stomach before he straightens up and uppercuts regal, then lands a hard right across his face, then lands another uppercut before he drives his elbow into the side of Regal's head. Bladewolf pulls regal close and hits a belly-to-belly suplex across the ring.
"Nice belly-to-belly suplex there." JR said. "Bladewolf has a brutal technical wrestling style, almost similar to Chris Benoit. it's what he uses to gain the advantage."
Bladewolf grabs Regal from behind and hits another German Suplex before he quickly hooks the leg.
"One!"
"Two!"
"Thr-!"
regal kicks out at two.
Bladewolf gets to a knee and hammers away on Regal's forehead before backing off to adjust his elbow pads. Bladewolf watches Regal stumble to his feet and turn around... INTO A GOOZLE! Bladewolf lifts regal up... AND PLANTS HIM WITH A CHOKESLAM!
"Chokeslam!" Cole exclaimed.
"All the way to hell!" JR added.
Bladewolf grabs Regal... AND LOCKS IN THE DEATHBITE CROSSFACE!
"Crossface is locked in!" JR exclaimed. "Will William regal tap out?!"
Regal is screaming in pain as he rises his left arm... AND TAPS OUT! REGAL TAPS OUT!
'Ding! Ding! Ding!'
Dead Silent plays as Bladeowlf gets to his feet... WHEN KURT ANGLE COME SRUNNING DOWN THE RAMP! Bladewolf sees this as Angle slides into the ring... BUT BLADEWOLF NAILS HIM WITH A SPEAR!
"A Spear to Kurt Angle!" Cole shouted.
Bladewolf gets to his feet, grabs Angle, lifts him onto his shoulders... AND HITS THE FURY OF THE WOLF! Bladewolf gets to his feet, grabs Regal and lifts him onto his shoulders... AND HITS THE FURY OF THE WOLF ON REGAL!
"This is a message to Austin, JR!" Cole said. "Bladewolf knows Austin is watching and he's just sent a message to him."
Moments later, Regal talked to Mr. McMahon backstage. Regal said he thought he had Rock beat, and he apologized for disappointing the chairman. Mr. McMahon said he wasn't disappointed at all, and the Federation chairman said that this was just part of a bigger plan.
Back in the Right to Censor locker room, Steven and Val emerged from the room, and Steven told Ivory, Bull and Goodfather that Val had confessed. Ivory, Bull and Goodfather then started beating on Val - and Steven told Val that it was for his own good! Bull and Goodfather then led Val to the ring.
Val looked like he was about to cry as he addressed the crowd.
Val said that for years, he led his life as a "whoremonger," as a man who knew no better, and that was his excuse. He said tonight, he had no excuse. Val said he had made a horrible, horrible mistake. He said that in one lousy night, all the good he had done for the Right to Censor now means nothing, because he wasn't man enough to resist temptation. He said he had allowed a vixen to engulf him in her perversion, and he had taken pleasure in it. As Val dropped to his knees, he said he had no one to blame but himself, and that he didn't deserve the Right to Censor's pity or forgiveness. Val then broke down and cried, saying he had made the biggest mistake of his life. He promised to cleanse himself of the immorality which had crept into his heart.
Steven asked everyone to forgive Val, saying he had just lost his way. He said the Right to Censor would indeed forgive Val. Steven and Val then embraced. As the five members of the group made their amends, Faarooq and Bradshaw ran to the ring and cleaned house!
In six-man action, Christian teamed up with Haku and Rikishi against D-Von Dudley, Kane and the Undertaker. Since Buh Buh Ray had been taken out by Christian earlier in the evening, Kane joined D-Von in the "wassap!" spot, in a hysterical moment! Team Taker picked up the win, when Taker pinned Christian following a chokeslam and a Last Ride.
Next up was Stone Cold vs Kurt Angle.
Stone Cold Steve Austin took on Kurt Angle in the Main Event. The Bladewolf was shown watching the match in his locker room backstage with Trish Stratus. However, near the closing moments of the match, William regal came out and made his way down to the ring. Austin didn't like this and slides out the ring, sends Regal into the ring where Austin gives him a Stunner.
The crowd cheered when the Bladewolf ran down the ramp, slides into the ring and watches Austin stomp on Angle, setting up for a spear. Austin turns around... but Bladewolf didn't go for the spear! Bladewolf stands up straight as he stares at Austin who stares back as SmackDown goes off the air...
