SmackDown: 29/3/2001

SmackDown was live at the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, Michigan. The final stop on the Road to WrestleMania began with Triple H and Stephanie walking to the ring. Mr. and Mrs. Game were flanked by a number of cops as they headed to the ring. The "cerebral assassin" reiterated his claims that he felt he was the best in the business, and said it angered him when the Undertaker said he could topple the Game. Triple H said that the Undertaker's yard was right in the middle of Triple H's ring, and that since Taker first challenged him, Triple H has been dominating the Deadman. Triple H promised that at WrestleMania, the Undertaker would play the game, and the Undertaker would lose.

The Undertaker then headed to the stage, and said he didn't play games. As Taker made his way to the ring, Stephanie screamed that the Undertaker was violating the 25-foot restraining order, and ordered the cops to arrest the Dead Man. The Undertaker told Stephanie to shut her face, and then said he made a few calls - to a lawyer, to a bail bondsman and to 911, because he said Triple H would soon be in need of medical help. The Taker then jumped into the ring and started brawling with the Game!

The Dead Man knocked Triple H from the ring, and was arrested by the cops for his efforts - but as per his earlier conversation with the bail bondsman, the Taker was assured he would be out of jail within 12 hours!

Backstage, the Bladewolf was shown arriving with Trish Stratus at his side. Bladewolf put the WWF Intercontinental Championship on his right shoulder as they walked when they stopped due to Commissioner Regal getting in their way.

"What do you want?" Bladewolf asked with a glare.

"I'm not here to cause trouble, I assure you." Regal assured. "I just came to inform you that Stone Cold Steve Austin will be at the arena soon, and Mr. McMahon has instructed me to not let anything happen to the WrestleMania Main Event, so you and Austin have to stay away from each other tonight."

Bladewolf scoffed and looked at Trish who shook her head. Bladewolf looked at Regal before he reached into his coat and brought out his baseball bat and placed it against Regal's forehead.

"I dare you to try and keep me away from Austin tonight." Bladewolf threatened with a glare before he took his bat back and walked past Regal with Trish.

The first match on SmackDown pitted the APA (accompanied by Jacqueline) against X-Pac and Justin Credible (accompanied by Albert). The Right to Censor soon came to ringside to get involved in the match, leading to Tazz getting up from the announce position to help Faarooq and Bradshaw! The APA & Tazz were still outnumbered, however, and Bull Buchanan hit a scissors kick on Faarooq, allowing X-Pac to score the pin. After the match, Steven Richards hit a Stevenkick on Tazz, and Val hit the thug with the Money Shot.

In a backstage parking area, a limo pulled into the arena. The license plate said "WCW 1." Shane McMahon then got out of the limo! The Boy Wonder walked into the arena, saying hi to Kurt Angle and Eddie Guerrero on his way in. Angle was apparently telling Eddie that he never tapped out to Chris Benoit's crossface on RAW!

After a commercial break, Shane exchanged greetings with the Hardy Boyz, and Paul Heyman joined Michael Cole for commentary. Paul revealed that Mr. McMahon had banned all references to WCW from Federation programming.

In tag team action, Benoit and Test took on Angle and Guerrero. Benoit won the match for his team, forcing Latino Heat to tap out to the crossface. After the match, Angle attacked Benoit from behind and locked him in the ankle lock!

Debra then entered Commissioner Regal's office, and Regal asked why Stone Cold still hadn't arrived at the arena. Regal told Debra that Mr. McMahon would hold her personally responsible if anything happened between the two men at the arena. Regal told Debra to use her influence to make sure that nothing happened, which Debra said was unfair.

Backstage, Shane exchanged pleasantries with Billy Gunn, who congratulated Shane on his purchase of WCW. Stephanie then walked up to Shane, irate that he has bought WCW from right under Vince's nose! She said that Vince was going to kill Shane at WrestleMania - and Shane said he would worry about it on Sunday! Shane then walked away with a big smile on his face!

Stone Cold then arrived at the arena, and Commissioner Regal tried to tell him about Mr. McMahon's warnings, but Austin just walked away.

Mr. McMahon then walked by Shane's limo, and was irate to find it parked in his spot! The Federation chairman was irate to find out that his son was in Detroit for SmackDown.

The sounds of broken glass then filled the Joe Louis Arena, and Stone Cold Steve Austin headed to the ring! Austin enters the ring, does his pose on all four turnbuckle corners, then gets down and grabs a microphone as his theme dies down.

"I'm gonna make this real simple." Austin said. "I didn't come out here to just flap my gums, I got something to say to a man face-to-face. So Bladewolf, bring your face-painted ass to this ring. And I ain't asking, I'm telling you to."

Austin paced back and fourth as he waits for his WrestleMania opponent to come out to the ring, but Vince McMahon's music hits to boos from the fans and out comes the Chairman of the WWF, much to the displeasure of Austin.

Vince enters the ring and grabs a microphone. "Wait a minute-"

"I said I wanted the Bladewolf not a jackass!" Austin cut him off to cheers from the fans.

"Now listen..." Vince said. "I've had a bad couple of days as of late, and I'm not gonna let-SHUT UP!" He shouts at the fans who are chanting 'Asshole!' at him. "And I'm not gonna let you ruin my WrestleMania. Oh no, I told the Commissioner and I'm telling you. this WrestleMania Main Event is gonna be intact and it's gonna make it to this Sunday, and I don't know what you got on your mind Stone Cold Steve Austin, so I would advise you to get the hell out of the ring, right now."

Austin's response was to attack the Chairman and stomp away on him.

OOOOOOWHOOOOOO!

Dead Silent hits to a loud pop from the fans as the lights dim to the sinister blood red and dark blue, and out comes the Bladewolf with the WWF Intercontinental Championship in hand as he makes his way down the ramp and slides into the ring, tossing his title aside as he walks right up and gets in Austin's face and his theme dies down.

The crowd are cheering as the two men stare each other down before Bladewolf picks up his Intercontinental Championship and puts it on his shoulder while Austin does the same with the WWF Championship.

Austin takes a microphone without breaking eye contact with Bladewolf. "I'm glad you came out here, Bladewolf, cause I got something to get off my chest. Last Monday night, you did something to Stone Cold Steve Austin that ain't ever been done before! You gave Stone Cold Steve Austin a Stone Cold Stunner! And not only that, when you finished giving me the Stunner, you proceeded to drink Stone Cold Steve Austin's beer! And I know... you're in my space right now, you might want to back up. You might not believe me when I say this, Bladewolf, and I don't give a rat's ass if you do or not anyway, but I respect what you did cause like I said, ain't nobody ever do that to Stone Cold Steve Austin before. Give me a damn beer!" A beer can is tossed and Austin catches it. "Give me another damn beer!"

Austin catches a second can of beer and opens it before shoving it against Bladewolf's chest, to which the crowd 'oohed' at as Bladewolf slowly took the can of beer with a small frown on his face as Austin opens his own can of beer.

"Since you like drinking beer of a sudden, i thought I might make a little toast to the Bladewolf." Austin said as he raised the beer. "Here's to your health, here's to your... happiness. And here's to you, Bladewolf, walking down that aisle, at WrestleMania, as the Intercontinental Champion for the very last time!"

Austin smashes his can of beer into Bladewolf's, sending beer everywhere and Bladewolf's face covered in beer. Bladewolf flips his hair back and snatches the microphone out of Austin's hand as the WWF Champion is about to drink his can of beer.

'Bladewolf! Bladewolf! Bladewolf!' The crowd chanted.

"Well that was a fine toast, but I happen to have one of my own." Bladewolf said as he raised his can of beer. "Here's to YOUR health, your happiness, and your last reign as WWF Champion because I'm going to beat your damn ass at WrestleMania!"

Bladewolf smashes his beer into Austin's can, sending beer everywhere. Austin looks away for several seconds... BEFORE HE PUNCHES BLADEWOLF! Bladewolf and AUstin get into a slugfest before Austin tackles Bladewolf down and they start fighting as Vince calls for security and referees to come and separate the two men. They manage to do so, but Bladewolf runs and leaps at Austin in the corner and the two are going back at it as the security and referees are trying to separate the two men but they can't seem to do so.

This leads to the WWF locker room running down the ramp and helping to try and keep Bladewolf and Austin away from each other. Kane and the Undertaker are there, holding their little brother back. Bladewolf gets out the ring... and runs around it to leap onto the ring apron where Austin was and the two start punching each other again as the wrestlers and officials are still trying to keep them away from each other and manage to take Bladewolf off the ring apron and pull him back, but Bladewolf gets free again, slides into the ring and tackles Austin down and starts hammering away on him.

Bladewolf is dragged off Austin and pushed into the corner by wrestlers as the same is said for Austin.

'Let them fight! let them fight! let them fight!' The crowd chanted.

Austin gets free and runs at Bladewolf who tackles him down and it's chaos as wrestlers, security and referees try pulling the two men apart, leading to cops coming down the ramp and separating the two men who are dragged backstage and away from each other.

"I'll see your ass at WrestleMania!" Austin yelled.

"I look forward to it!" bladewolf yelled back before he was taken away...
