Summary:

Meena and Molly go on a girls' trip around the city and do some shopping while talking and catching up.

.

.

Meena gasps as she runs over to a little pink and white striped onesie that hung from a rack in the baby store they had decided to check out. "Molly! Loookkk! Oh my God, it's so tiny! I miss when Maisie was that small", she pouts.

Molly giggles and looks over at her. "I think this is the most exciting part. Picking out the teeny clothes and shoes, deciding on a name, and then of course finally getting to meet them for the first time." She skims over some more baby clothes tenderly as she looks around.

"I know, it's the most amazing thing. Terrifying, don't get me wrong; but amazing."

Molly nods and picks up a small one piece that says 'Daddy's little princess' on it with a faux tutu attached to the bottom. Grinning, she adds it to the basket she's carrying.

"Yeah...as excited as I am that I'm finally going to be a mom, I'm so scared of the birth. I know that I'll be in good hands, and I pray everything will go smoothly but I just can't really imagine it, y'know?"

"Neither could I when I was pregnant, but when it happens, everyone's adrenaline is running so high, and you're emotional and feeling a million things, and its honestly just a clusterfuck, and then suddenly she'll be on your chest and all the noise just dissipates and you feel so fucking proud of yourself and so in awe of this tiny little human life you've just made...it's the best and the worst time of your life all in one."

"Honestly, I'm just glad I don't have to think about doing it all alone anymore..."

Meena rolls her eyes and sighs. "Well, you know what I think."

"Yes, I do, and respectfully, he's changed, Meemee. It's been quite a journey for us both, but he's changed for the better, and I know that the baby only makes him want to keep at being better."

"Look, I can't help that I'm still bitter. I'm the one you cried to every time he broke your heart. I'm the one you talked to when he made you feel like shit, and I'm the one that build you back up when he tore you down. You're easily forgiving him because of a few tender moments, and him swearing he's changed. For your sake, I do hope he has, but I'll always be here just in case he hasn't and goes back to his old ways. I saw what it did to you, and nobody should feel that way."

Molly sighs softly and nods. "I know, and you're the best friend anyone could ever have, and I love you for that. So much. I know him, though. I can see when he's bullshitting, I've gotten great at it actually, and I know he's telling the truth. Plus, he's apologized a million times."

"Mhh...well he could apologize a million and one, but it doesn't take them back."

"Meena..."

"Okay, okay. Backing off. I'm glad you're happy and I hope for you and your little girl's sake, that he's as good now as you believe him to be."

"I know he is."

"Okay...sooo what about names? Have you been discussing?"

"A few random ideas here and there, nothing too definitive or major yet. We know that Joy will be her middle name. It's Sherlock's mother's name, and she's always wanted grandchildren."

"Oh yeah, doesn't he have an older brother? Why wasn't he at the little shindig?"

Molly snorts. "Uhhh, let's just say he's a very stern government type. Not the easy-going partier. He's pretty vacant to everyday life."

"So that whole lot is weird? Damn."

"Not weird...special."

"Whatever you wanna call it", she smirks.

"And actually, his parents are fairly ordinary for having three crazy genius kids. They're sweet. I met them once in passing and we have spoken on the phone; Sherlock told them the news a few days ago. We are planning a visit there next weekend. Should be nice."

"That's nice, I hope it goes well."

"I have no doubt his Mum will be all over me. But that's nice...it will be nice to have a mother figure who cares."

Meena looks at her a bit sadly. "Despite that piece of shit who happened to birth you, you're an incredible woman Molly, and you're going to be such a great Mum. I can't wait, really."

Molly smiles softly, getting a bit teary-eyed. "Thanks, Meemee. Honestly, I wish I could just pick up the phone and call my dad or visit him and tell him it's finally happening", she sniffles. "I know he's watching over me...I just wish he were here. He would've been such an awesome grandfather."

"He would've", she smiles and squeezes her shoulder gently.

"Well...I'm sure he is already. I did name my son after him, and they're together now. It's...crazy how much heartache I had to suffer to be right here and right now, finally happy. Thanks for getting me through a bunch of it."

"I wish I would have known you sooner...when you went through everything with your dad dying, and then losing Declan, going to rehab...it makes me sad that I wasn't there for you then. But I also have so much respect for how fucking strong you are to have gone through it alone and to have still gotten through it, all while raising your brother. You're a damn warrior, Molly. I'm in awe of you."

"Oh hushhh", she turns red.

"I am, I swear dude!"

"Get outta here", Molly giggles softly.

"Nope, you're frickin amazeballs."

"Oi."

Meena plops a bunch of baby stuff into Molly's basket and grins. "Necessities."

"Oh really? Heaps of clothing in an array of pinks and purples and whites and yellows are a necessity?"

"Yesss, you want your daughter to be stylish. Plus, they all come with matching bow headbands!", she squeals. She's gonna need them if she has her father's curls. Even if she doesn't, she'll need them because they're adorableee."

Molly laughs and rolls her eyes. "Okay, yes, you win. This stuff is pretty darn cute. The teeny little booties too though!? Oh my gosh."

Meena grins. "God, you're gonna make me want another one Molly, and Maisie is only two."

"Well, could be a good age gap", Molly teases, nudging her with her elbow.

She blushes and chuckles. "David and I haven't been actively trying, but we haven't been actively /not/ trying either..."

"Oh my God, Meena!"

Laughing, she looks around at some more baby items. "Feel like being a godmother again, if it does happen?"

"Um, do you?"

"What? Wait, really?"

"Yes, really! You're my best friend."

"Molly! Yes, of course I'll be her godmother!" Meena hugs her excitedly then rubs her belly. "Hiii baby! It's your godmother and sort of auntie Meemee!"

Molly laughs happily and grabs her cart. "Shhh, you'll make a scene. And yes, I'd be your second child's godmother too when that happens. Now let's get out of here before I go absolutely broke and can't even afford diapers."

"Fine, but I'm treating you to lunch, and then we're getting our nails done. So your feet look cute when you give birth, y'know? Then maybe some fro-yo or coffee after that."

"You are crazy."

"I'm crazy, but you love crazies", she smirks.

"Oh my God."

"Nope, but you wishhh", she giggles.

Molly snorts and rolls her eyes at her rambunctious friend, placing the baby items on the counter to check out.

"I've always liked Abigail for a name. Simple. Not too common, not too rare. Easy nickname. What do you think?"

"I think Abby is cute! What does Sherlock think?"

"I'm not sure yet. I'll have to ask him." She smiles as her items are bagged up and handed to her. Thanking the woman behind the register, she grabs her bag and hobbles out with her friend for the rest of the girls' day.
