Chapter 10

I don't know how long I had been asleep for but when i finally regained consciousness i felt it had been a while as my body ached from not moving for a while

I opened my eyes and found myself in what looked like a hospital room, one of the medical rooms at the tower I realised. The sky outside the window to my left was glowing orange. Was the sun going down or coming up, I wondered?

I went to sit up but a hand came against my left shoulder and I saw that it was Cap.

"Easy soldier, lay back down, you need rest" he said as I felt an ache in my right shoulder.

"What happened? How did we get back here?" I asked groggily as I complied and lay back down looking at my right shoulder. It was bandaged up under a hospital looking gown.

"Well, you got shot and Tony carried you back onto the jet after we took all the bad guys out" Cap sighed. Oh yeah, I fell backwards.

"Oh, right, so I did a Clint?" I laughed and Cap laughed too.

There was a small movement to my right when we laughed and I looked over to see Loki asleep in a padded chair.

"He's been here the whole time" Cap smiled and nodded towards Loki.

"He has?" I blushed. "How long was i out? Is it night or morning?"

"You were out all day and overnight. It's about six in the morning. I'll let you get some more rest" Cap squeezed my left shoulder and left the room.

I lay my head back in my pillow and looked back over to Loki and smiled.

His eyes fluttered open when Cap closed the door over.

"Morning sleepy head" i greeted Loki

"Liz! You're awake! Are you okay?!" He rushed over to my bedside and took my hand in his, heat rising to my cheek at his touch

"Yeh, I'm okay. It hurts like a...well, a bullet wound" I winced as I tried to move my arm.

"Here, let me help. I can't do much in the ways of healing but it'll close it up and take some of the pain away" and he placed his hand over the bandage and it glowed green. The pain subdued to a dull ache and it didn't hurt as much when I moved it.

"Thanks Loki, you didn't have to" I smiled back to him

"Nonsense, of course I did. You've been so kind to me the last few weeks, I do not want to see you in pain."

"I can't believe I got shot on my first mission" I groaned. "Well, I can believe it because it's me," I added with a shrug.

"I will go and find us some breakfast, you need to get more rest" he said as he made his way over to the door. "I really am glad you're okay," he added with a smile as he left the room.

I was cleared to leave the medical wing around lunch time and when I walked back into the lounge, with Lokis help, the rest of the team cheered in jest.

"Alright, alright" I laughed with my friends. "Am I officially part of the team now that I've been shot?" I joked as I sat on my sofa and Loki sat next to me. That was new, he hadn't sat next to me in the lounge before but no one commented on it.

"You sure are, kid" Tony chuckled.

"But don't make getting shot a habit like Clint has" Nat laughed and Clint shot her a playful glare.

"Once is more than enough for me, I'll leave it up to Clint to take the bullets" I smiled apologetically at Clint but smirked at the end.

"Gee, thanks" Clint rolled his eyes.
