"Damn ankle." George hissed in pain as he limped out the bathroom, his ankle flaring up in pain with each step. During his match with Daryl, hi ankle had been aggravated and his doctors told him to take a few weeks off to rest it before he does something worse that could keep him out for more than a few weeks, and that was something George didn't want to here he was at home, in his apartment with Trish. It was September the 11th, and George had been off WWF tv since the 30th of August episode of SmackDown.
"Oh stop being a big baby." Trish, who was sitting in the living room, watching TV, teased him. The curtainw ere open, the balcony doors were pen since it was sunny and bright, and it was too warm today for windows to be shut. So Trish had opened the windows and kept the balcony door open. "You heard what the doctors said, just a few weeks off WWF and you'll be right as rain."
"Still." George sighed as he sat down beside her and saw she was watching last night's episode of RAW is WAR, which was currently showing the Undertaker vs Booker T. "Glenn's recovering well from the elbow infection, he might be back sooner than anyone expects."
"Good." Trish smiled. "by the way, why did you change your theme back and fourth between Dead Silent and Down with the Sickness?"
"That was WWF creative's fault." George was quick to say. "They figured me going solo needed a good theme to go with, and I didn't agree but I just went with it. Sometimes you just have to do what they say and argue about it another day. But I'm glad I was able to convince them to let me use Dead Silent and our old entrance for SummerSlam and so on. I feel much better now when I come out. I mean, don't get me wrong, I like Disturbed, but I don't think it suits the Bladewolf character anymore. I feel like my character has just... softened after coming back unmasked and speaking more."
"What, you thinking of returning to the masked gimmick?" Trisha sked.
George shrugged. "Maybe sometime in 2002 or in the future. I just feel like wanting to bring Bladewolf back to his original roots as a masked, destructive and demonic monster that cares only about destruction and hurting others. But with the way things are, that version of the character wouldn't fit into the era of WWF today, it wouldn't fit into the current storyline. It would just be random and out of nowhere. If I'm going to return to the mask gimmick sometime, then I'd want to build it up and do it right."
Trish nodded before she looked at her boyfriend. "So, found any new place for us yet?"
Lately George had been thinking of moving away from New York to somewhere isolated, somewhere surrounded by woods as he wasn't one for the noises that come with big cities like New York. Plus, he was wanting to take up hunting legally, so he wanted to have a yard with wildlife and woods that he can easily go hunting in. He wanted to be in a place that was surrounded by trees and woods, as he was a private guy, barely did interviews, and didn't want people getting involved in her private, personal life as some fans and members of the paparazzi have attempted to look into.
Seriously, did they think George was going to allow that just because he starred in ONE movie? Seriously, Dwayne Johnson stars in one movie and then people start assuming he's going to do the same just because of his one time movie roll in Halloween.
"Yeah, I saw a place up in Canada." George said and looked at his girl. "Since you live in Canada, well lived since you now live with me, I figured we'd move back to your country and find a place there. I've already found a place in Saskatchewan."
"Saskatchewan?" Trish raised an eyebrow.
Saskatchewan is a prairie and boreal province in Western Canada, the middle of the three prairie provinces. It is bordered on the west by Alberta, on the north by the Northwest Territories, on the east by Manitoba, to the northeast by Nunavut, and on the south by the U.S. states of Montana and North Dakota.
"Yeah, Saskatchewan. I've already spotted a good looking house surrounded by woods, it's got a good view, it's isolated but not too far from a nearby town. It's perfect for us, we'd have privacy and don't need to worry about fans stopping us every time we exit the door." George said. "Plus, c'mon, tell me you aren't a little annoyed being woken up here every night by the sounds of shooting and shouting."
Before Trish can say anything, there was a sudden boom and the apartment shook. Stuff fell from the shelves and George was quick to cover Trish just in case any stuff managed to hit her.
"What the fuck was that?!" Trish shouted as George sat up and looked around. When it was all said and done, George went to the window to try and find out what happened but couldn't see much so he went out onto the balcony and what he saw caused his eyes to widen in shock and horror. Trish soon joined him, saw what he was staring at and gasped in horror, a hand going to her mouth.
One of the World Trade Center towers had an enormous hole in the side and smoke that rose from it.
"Oh my God..." Trish muttered before they went back inside and turned the TV on which quickly went to the news.
"...a obviously very disturbing live shot there. That is the World Trade Center and we have unconfirmed reports this morning that a plane has crashed into one of the towers of the World Trade Center," the voice of a female reporter said as an image of the smoking tower was shown.
"A plane?" Trish said in disbelief. "A fucking plane?"
"The hell was a plan doing so close to the building?" George asked with a frown as he pulled his phone out and was quick to start contacting his brothers who were in Brooklyn.
"George?!" Jack answered.
"Tell me you guys are seeing this!" George said a she went onto the balcony and stared at the towers with Trish beside him.
"Oh we're seeing it, Daryl and I can see it clear as day. The whole of fucking New York can see this!" Jack said frantically. "What the fuck happened? Daryl, watch the people!"
"Look!" Trish pointed and George looked in time to see a second plane fly and smash into the second tower.
"What the absolute fuck?!" George could hear Daryl yell in the background.
"Guys, get yourselves over here now! I'm going to contact the guys on the road and see if they are seeing this on the news." George said and hung up before he got quick to dialling Mark first. Soon enough, Mark answered.
"Yeah?"
"Tell me you've seen the news." George said.
"Give me a minute." Mark said and George waited for several seconds before he heard. "What the hell? Is this real? Are you seeing that right now?"
"Yes, a second plane just struck the second tower." George said as he watched the smoke rise. He was pretty sure that could be seen everywhere for miles, to the edge of Jersey.
"What the hell is going on?" Trish asked as she and George shared a look before they heard a rumbling and looked, their eyes widening when they saw one of the towers collapse.
"Holy shit!" Mark shouted on the phone.
George just stared in horror...
Since George was living in New York at the time, I figured I'd have to do a off screen chapter on him on the day of 9/11 when the World Trade Center was hit. Bloody hell, it's hard to believe it's been over 20 years since that day.
I didn't do this chapter as comedy or anything, just to try and show George in his life and include the real life problems of the world, and that includes the tragic moments such as 9/11.
