"you really hate that boy, don't you shigaraki?" Illumi asked as she threw a dart at the picture of The green haired boy.
"yeah he's the disciple of all might. And everything about all might is plain annoying" the man replied scratching his neck.
"What was his name again?" The girl asked as she turned towards kurogiri.
"I believe its Midoriya Izuku" kurogiri replied as he poured a drink for shigaraki.
"I see" illumi mumbled as she got up from her chair. "I'm going out, I'll be back by the time of the meeting."
Kurogiri simply nodded and started doing his own work.
The ravenette waved shigaraki a goodbye before closing the door.
As illumi came in her apartment room she took her hoodie out and threw it in the washing machine.
the apartment that the ravenette lived in wasn't very fancy, it was just an old one with two rooms and a small kitchen. knowing that it was on sale for jyst ten thousand yen, the girl couldn't help herself to not buy it.
the ravenette didn't think of it too much, since she just needed a small place to keep her things at, she just happened to be in luck and even though the house was small, it was nice and comfortable and at least, habitable.
The girl plopped down on the bed putting down her sword on the side of the room.
"Why am I so tired? i didn't even do anything" she sighed leaning on her right side. "is it because of stress...?" "anyways... If i stay like this, I'll be a liability to the league".
The ravenette got up from her bed picking up her mask and an cyan jacket.
"I'll just get a coffee somewhere..."
As the girl started walking down the stairs of the apartment building, she saw a bunch of police gaurds at the enterance gate. 'The hell? Are they onto me?'. 'i might have to flee... Shit man i practically wasted ten thousand yen for this!'
suddenly out of nowhere a police gaurd showed up walking towards the girl, making her want to flinch and runaway. he cleared his throat and showed his ID "hello ma'am, we had some questions about the recent murder near this area. have you seen anything different lately?" he asked politely. Illumi's eyes windened 'murder?... of who?' her mind flooded with thoughts as she found her fingers twitching inside of the pockets of her hoodie.
"I don't think so officer, everyone has been acting like the usual" she easily lied. well she had to, not like the girl just spies on her neighbours checking if they're innocent or not.
As the man asked her some more questions regarding the incident it was already evening.
"alright, i think that was all I needed for now." he bowed and walked away.
the girl bowed back, sighing in relief.
'damn, i couldn't even get my coffee.' the girl thought as she took out her phone from her pocket. 'shit, it's already time for the meeting'
Illumi was the last one to reach for the meeting and everyone looked at her like she was a dead person who just walked out of her grave to get some maple syrup for her pancakes.
illumi shot them a glare before sitting on some wood boxes, leaning on her back. she was practically falling asleep because it was so boring, no one said anything, literally anything! Not like she hated the silence since it was helping her-
"We got a delivery from tomura-kun!" Toga exlaimed coming dancing in the huge hall, with a usual smile plastered over her face. "he said there's enough for everyone so we should bring it with us!"
'tch, i was enjoying the silence, get lost, psycho.' she squinted her nose in annoyance glaring daggers at the sight of the blonde.
"Throbbing, it's throbbing". "lets Just hurry up and go" the guy with a long nose grinned widely.
"Its still early, besides he told us to do nothing too flashy" one of the new recruits replied.
"Yeah even though he attacked me when we first met, he's acting like he's in charge." The guy sighed shrugging his pale arms.
"This is just a signal fire" dabi stated as he stood up. "Those empty heroes will be pulled off their pedestals." "To create a brighter future." He completed as a grin made its way to his patched up lips. 'these people have motives... right... they're just like... kurayami...' Illumi gritted her teeth staring at her palm.
After this everyone took whatever shigaraki had sent for them and started leaving.
The ravenette was left in surprise because she had been given a sword by him. It was a shiny new katana, and... well she wouldn't admit it, but... she actually found the sword pretty cool, it was easy to handle, good quality, and her quirk goes perfectly well with a katana. holding the sword in her right hand she started walking out of the huge hall.
"Illumi-chan!~". The girl sighed as she heard the annoying voice of none other than toga.
"Are you going somewhere?!" She asked with a ear to ear smile.
"I'm going to my house". Illumi replied not slowing down her pace. Toga caught up and and started walking beside her. The ravenette gave a her a side eye. 'yare yare...' (good grief). "Toga...do you intend on coming to my house or something?" She asked tiredly. Toga just nodded, her smile widened.
"See... toga, i cannot have you" she looked at her katana. "An investigation is going on near my area and i can't have you caught, above than that, i don't know how I'm even gonna sneak this sword in."
the blonde's smile broke and a dramatic sad expression took over her face. the ravenette acknowledged the sadness and a hint of guilt started building in her chest.
"B-But i guess you can have my address, come whenever you want, just not this week." Illumi ordered as she stopped and pulled out her phone. the girl's smile returned and she stopped too. both the girls shared numbers and Illumi sent the blonde the location of her house. The girl nodded and cutely ran-jumped away. 'i hope she doesn't come barging in though'
While the ravenette was testing her new sword outside, she felt someone walking towards her from behind. "Dabi" She sighed while putting the katana back into its scabbard. 'great every league member is gonna irritate me now.'
"I had something to ask you" he uttered in a reluctant tone.
"make it quick" she replied, turning towards the man.
"What's with the scar on the side of your neck?" He asked looking away from the girl's black orbs.
the ravenette felt a surge of fury remembering her past. and opened her mouth to speak.
"It... was...given by... endeavour..." Illumi mumbled just loud enough for dabi to hear, as she put a hand over the scar, unintentionally covering it.
Dabi eyes widened and his mouth was left opened in shock.
"I-I have to leave" she hurriedly walked past the burnt man, cursing at herself for stuttering.
As illumi entered her apartment room she pressed her back on the door, her mind was currently racing.
'why would he want to know about my scar?'. 'And even though we barely know each other, why did I tell him?'. 'Is he trying to tell me something?' 'Am i supposed to be panicking?' 'Why'd he ask it out of the blue?'
she tiredly laid down on the couch stuffing her face in a pillow.
Remembering that her katana is still in her balcony, she huffed in annoyance. yeah you guessed it, she used her quirk to transport her sword, and since it was night nobody saw it.
Peeking over from the couch, she activated her quirk again.
Suddenly a powerful wind blew by opening the door to the balcony. and a small tornado like structure formed around the katana. as the ravenette swung her right hand the door was instantly closed and the small tornado carefully placed the sword near her room.
the girl stared at the gift given by shigaraki before something else caught her attention. the same, red coloured ring she bought 2 days ago was still on her hand. the girl wasn't very good with buying things and not losing them. so this might be a first for her that she'd ever had such a small accessory for more than a single day.
As she fawned over its design, the door bell rang suddenly rang.
The ravenette got up and opened the door to reveal someone really unexpected.
"What the hell are you doing here!?" The girl asked in shock as she looked around to check that if anyone was there. "Did anyone see you? Cause If they did then your so dea-" the ravenette was interrupted as she felt someone coming towards them.
She hurriedly grabbed the man's wrist and pulled him inside before locking the door quickly.
she sighed in relief but it didn't last long as the doorbell rang again. She looked into dabi's eyes in horror and he returned the look.
As the ravenette hurriedly shoved the man into her room, she took a deep breath. Tucking a few strands of loose hair behind her ear, she opened the door.
"hello Sami-chan!" the middle aged woman exclaimed, while smiling widely at the girl.
"hello Atsu-san" Illumi replied with a small smile.
"I made some taiyaki today... turns out making thirty of them could be too much for a single person... so I brought some for you!..." the woman gave an awkward smile while handing the girl a basket full of crispin' hot taiyakis.
"thank you. I hope i can repay this with something soon." Illumi answered while bowing.
"oh, no! consider it a gift" she smiled while bowing back. "oyasumi! (goodnight)". she waved at the girl.
"oyasumi" Illumi closed the door after slightly bowing again. as she put the basket on the couch, her whole demeanour changed from silent and welcoming, to a furious and raging one, she went and opened the gate to her room.
"What the hell was that about dabi?" She snapped as her eyes turned blood red from anger.
"Well, toga gave me your address" he replied calmly.
"I dont think i allowed you to come to my goddamn house though. you could've blown my cover!" The ravenette grunted narrowing her eyes at the man in front of her.
"I wanted to know more about that scar and endeavour.." he mumbled looking down.
"pardon?"
The man just rolled his eyes and looked anywhere but at Illumi.
'oh he's not kidding.'
The girl sighed as she sat down on the couch putting her legs on the table in front of her, picking up a taiyaki, she questioned. "Can you tell me why you are so interested though?
"Well let's just say I have some unfinished buisness with endeavour." Dabi replied as he shrugged.
biting a peice of the sweet illumi nodded and closed her obsidian orbs, trying to remember everything that happened. "If I'm not wrong it was about 5 years ago. My whole troupe was attacked by the heroes. Endeavour was the one who unintentionally burnt down our whole hideout...his flames got out of control. me and my brother were left to die while my mother, father and sister escaped. The last thing I knew before i blacked out was, i was being safely shifted out of the building by my brother's quirk. After about two days when I woke up i got to know that he died in the building that was left in ashes. Of course, this was kept secret from the media because of how utterly horrifying it got. And also because-" the girl got interrupted as her phone started beeping. she took it out from her pocket looking at the screen, she recognised it was actually an alarm.
"I gotta go" she informed getting up. "What? At least tell me the whole thing" dabi growled looking annoyed. "Save some for later, impatient guy" the ravenette turned towards dabi smiling at him slightly as she walked towards the window sliding it open. the man was caught off-guard but didn't say anything.
"Why do you always leave when we're in middle of a conversation" he tiredly asked standing up from the couch, running a hand through his hair.
The girl took a deep breath. "you wanna come?" She asked. Dabi seemed surprised yet didn't say anything.
"I don't trust you but... You can come if you want to. i wont mind" the ravenette's words had his eyes widening.
she picked up her bag and hung it around her shoulder.
standing in the balcony with her eyes closed, she tried to concentrate, and as the wind blew by, the girl's faint black figure disappeared.
"So you did follow me, huh" Illumi scoffed as a I-can-read-you-like-an-open-book look escalated up her face.
"Shut up" dabi replied as he sat a little away from the girl.
"i really hope you locked all the doors and windows before leaving my house." she inquired.
"i did."
the ravenette grinned as her long black locks floated in the air, she laid down resting her head on her bag, like the usual.
"This place is so...satisfying" dabi mumbled softly as he closed his eyes to feel the cool breeze blow through his face.
"I know" the ravenette murmured. "I usually come here to sleep, Its so aesthetically and mentally pleasing."
the Man hummed in response and they fell into deep and peaceful silence.
They sat there for about an hour, before dabi looked back at the girl to realise she was sleeping. he stared at the ravenette before lying about a meter next to her. Using the palm of his hands as a pillow.
As the two laid there, dabi could almost wish that this moment never ended. Never in his life has he felt this calm and stressfree.
As Illumi got up she noticed that dabi was still beside her.
'im glad I could get at least some sleep before we attack those damn kids today.' she ran a hand through her hair, rubbing her eyes from the back of her hand.
The girl exhaled noisily and stared at the sleeping guy in front of him, "get up already, burnt loser" she mumbled while shaking him slightly. The guy caught her wrist making her flinch. As dabi opened his eyes he instantly let go of the girls hand.
"sorry, i thought you were a hero" dabi apologised as he got to his feet while holding the side of his head.
"don't sweat it..." Illumi gulped, staring at her wrist as some of the memories she had locked up, started playing in her mind again. the girl gave her head a small shake.
"a-anyways, are you going back to the hideout?" She asked while getting back to her feet.
"Yeah, i guess." He replied with an uninterested tone.
"Bakugo katsuki...huh...?"
Soo as you can tell i'll be writing the bakugo-kidnapping thing in the next chapter. also, if you were wondering how dabi and Illumi didn't get caught while being outside it's mainly because it's on top of a mountain in an abandoned area and not many people come there.
also no, i don't not intend on making my character edgy. The scar, her black hair and the name 'death fangs' have a backstory which will be revealed in the upcoming chapters. and yes, i wont try to reveal too much but there was also a very specific reason why Illumi thought that killing her family would be the best option.
