Chapter 2:
Warning: Light abuse
RISING UP. BACK ON THE STREET.
DID MY TIME. TOOK MY CHANCES.
WENT THE DISTANCE NOW I'M BACK ON MY FEET
"Wake up little bro. It's your birthday and you still got school!" Dean shook the large form hiding under the sheets that groaned annoyed.
SO MANY TIMES IT HAPPENS SO FAST
YOU CHANGE YOUR PASSION FOR GLORY
DON'T LOSE YOUR GRIP ON THE DREAMS OF THE PAST
YOU MUST FIGHT JUST TO KEEP THEM ALIVE
"Come on. Don't make me sing this part by myself." Dean continued on.
Sam rolled his eyes trying his best to drown out the roaring music in his room and the even worse off tune singing as he tried to wake up, getting dressed.
IT'S THE EYE OF THE TIGER
IT'S THE THRILL OF THE FIGHT
RISING UP TO THE CHALLENGE OF OUR RIVAL
AND THE LAST KNOWN SURVIVOR
STALKS HIS PREY IN THE NIGHT
"And he's watching us all in the eyeeeeeee…. Of the tigerrr" Dean finished dramatically as Sam passed him, leaving the room.
"Good morning Sam. I told him to let you sleep in. You Are 18. You can skip one day if you'd really like to." Mary smiled, giving Sam a warm hug.
Sam forced a smile, returning the hug.
Unlike his obnoxious older brother, his mother was always honest and straightforward.
"No. It's fine. I got tests to do today." Sam said.
"Alright. Well at least sit down and have some breakfast." Mary said, moving to fix a plate of pancakes.
"Yeah mom. He's all work, no play." Dean entered the room soon after, ruffling Sam's medium long hair as he passed him.
"Maybe you should take notes." Mary suggested as she set down plates of food in front of them.
Dean laughed, "Nah. Sam's the brainiac of the family."
"Ugh. I'm gonna be having a word with our neighbors about playing loud music early in the morning. I don't care how good it is." John came into the kitchen next, half asleep, straight for the coffee.
The smile almost instantly disappeared from Dean's face, which almost made Sam want to joke about it.
Almost.
They all ate in silence as John moved to sit at the head of the table, sipping away at his coffee, before finally glancing at Sam.
"Happy birthday, kiddo." He said almost absentmindedly.
"Thanks, dad." Sam managed out.
"Dean, do you mind taking Sam to school, and picking him up? Mary and I have some errands to run, not sure how long we're gonna be." John then switched his focus onto the older brother.
Sam knew how to drive, but didn't have a license yet, the process was taking forever in his opinion.
"Uh, yeah. Y-yes sir." Dean nodded.
John nodded, then gave a nod to Sam before eating his pancakes.
"I'm gonna go get my stuff." Sam said, excusing himself from the table and returning to his room.
He grabbed his bag, putting his books and papers that he needed into them.
He was in his last year in high school, with a few extra classes.
By the time he was ready, and had returned to the living room, John and Mary were pulling out of the driveway.
Dean was watching from the front door.
"Did they say where they were going?" Sam asked.
Dean shrugged and shook his head, "Shopping I guess, they took the truck though, so you know what that means… I get Baby for the day."
Before Sam could reply to that, Dean was out the door, heading to the beloved black impala that Dean loved so much, that wasn't even his.
Yet.
Sam rolled his eyes and followed after him, locking the door behind him, before going to catch up before Dean decided to put the thing in drive.
As suspected, Dean was there to pick Sam up after school, and their parents were still gone when they got home.
Not that Sam really cared, he always had plenty of homework to focus on when he got home.
"I asked Jess to prom, and she said no." Sam said dejectedly.
Dean snorted but quickly tried to cover it with a cough, "Ouch."
"Shut up. So. When dad asks. I need you to back me up and say she said yes." Sam pleaded.
"Me? Lie to dad? No thank you." Dean said.
"Come on, Dean." Sam begged, even using his puppy eyes on him that usually always worked.
"No. Just because your ego was stomped on by a girl. What do you even see in her anyway, she- Oh…" Dean trailed off when he saw Sam's eyes, "Man, you have got it bad. For a girl who's obviously got it bad for another dude… Oh… Look, I'm sorry, I-"
"No. Just forget it. I got homework to do." Sam snapped, walking past him, going to his room.
"Come on Sammy! I was just-" Dean's voice was cut off by the door.
Sam was two pages deep into an essay when a light knock sounded on his door.
"Go away." Sam meant to say it louder, but he was heavily focused on what he was writing.
"Mom and dad are home. They want us to meet them outside." Dean's voice was muffled from the other side.
Sam's brows lowered in confusion, his focus fully lost on the essay as he set his papers aside, getting off the bed and opening the door.
"Why outside?" Sam asked.
"I don't know. They said to come get you first." Dean said, before turning and heading for the living room.
Confused, Sam followed him.
They went to the porch before coming to an abrupt halt.
Their parents were there, but something else was there too.
"Come on now! Quit fighting!" John was wrestling something on a chain at the bed of a truck.
Sam's eyes widened and his heart nearly stopped when he saw an Angel at the other end of that chain, grabbing at it frantically.
The chain was connected to a cuff around their neck.
Their wings were badly torn, folded behind them, and clearly tied together.
"Come on, get down!" John yelled again, yanking at the chain, and the Angel came tumbling down off the trailer of the truck. "Mary grab the other one before he gets up!"
'Other one?!' Sam thought baffled.
He wanted to rush forward and demand what the hell was going on, but….
"Get up on your feet!" John demanded, pulling at the chain in his hands until the Angel was up again, only to make as much distance away from him as the chain would allow. "Stay! Good."
Sam's eyes widened even more, if that were possible when he focused on his mom who was dragging another Angel out of the truck.
This Angel was slightly smaller but the multiple golden wings tied behind him made him look even bigger.
Sam glanced over at his brother, checking for his reaction, only to see he was nearly as shocked and disturbed as he was.
"Down, nice and easy." Mary's voice forced his attention back.
This Angel was a little more cooperative, even if it still struggled every now and again, and was constantly looking over at the other Angel. The other Angel doing the same.
After a few more minutes of getting them situated, Mary and John were approaching them.
Sam nearly wanted to run back inside. Bury his face in a book. Wake up from this dream. What even was this?
"So?" John started, yanking his chain, which forced his Angel to take a couple steps forward, "Whatcha think?"
A/N: Well. 2 chapters. This went 0-100 real quick.
