Naruto: Rebirth of the Hyuuga Clan: Chapter Nine; The Search for Tsunade
The Hokage's Office: The Next Day
In the Hokage's Office Jiraiya, Hikari, Sasuke, and Naruto stood before the third Hokage.
"Alright, it's time for your next mission to begin. This mission is extremely important and is therefore being given an A-rank. Jiraiya of the sanin will be the team leader for this revival mission due to his familiarity with her." The Third Hokage informed them. "Remember, your first priority is to find Tsunade Senju and convince her to come back to the village. Any questions?"
Hikari decided to speak up. "So where is Tsunade Senju right now? And why hasn't the Senju clan forced her back here yet?"
The third Hokage sighed "As for the first question, I do not know her current whereabouts. And as for the second question, the Senju Clan understands that she lost all of the people she loved and they respect her decision to unofficially retire. The current clan head, Shai Senju, has spoken to both me and her about this. Unfortunately, I need a successor who has enough public recognition as much as their ability."
"Is she really all that you have available?" Hikari asked. Seriously, to think a drunken gambler was going to be the fifth Hokage...
"Yes. She is the best candidate we have." The Third Hokage affirmed.
"Alright, can we have the intel you have available on our target, all the intel you have available?" Hikari asked.
"You may have all unrestricted intel Hikari, may I ask why you wish to see her classified files?" The Third Hokage asked her seriously.
"If I know all the facts there are to know about her, It would be easier to convince, coerce, intimidate, emotionally manipulate, generally manipulate, or blackmail her into coming with us and into changing how she feels about the leaf village into a more positive direction." Hikari responded simply.
"What?! Why would you want to do those terrible things to her?!" Naruto asked in shock.
Hikari turned to him with a flat look on her face. "Our mission is to convince Tsunade to come back with us and to become the fifth Hokage by any means necessary, Naruto."
"But that doesn't mean you have to do those things to her! We can just be nice about all this, Believe it!" Naruto said with a thumbs up and a smile.
"Naruto, unlike you I'm not naive enough to believe choice words will always be enough to settle such things, even if it should be what you try at first." Hikari started explaining. "We are shinobi Naruto, lying, stealing, and killing. That is our job, you know. While I wish everything could be solved peacefully through mutual understanding and companionship, that's just not always how human nature works, unfortunately."
Naruto just looked confused. "Well, why can't it be?"
"Look Naruto, we can argue philosophy later, for now, we have an important mission we must complete." Hikari said with a sigh.
Ten Hours Later: Sasuke, Naruto, and Hikari Training on a Lake.
"Hey Sasuke, do you mind if I try out a jutsu? I kinda need your help." Hikari asked him.
"What kind of jutsu?" Sasuke asked with curiosity. He was always open to new types of training.
"A passive genjutsu I cast on myself, it will give me a photographic memory when it is active." Hikari told him with a smirk.
"Alright, I guess. So how can I help?" Sasuke said. Honestly, he didn't know why she wanted his help with this instead of reading a book or something. "If I do this then I guess you could help me with a few new jutsus of mine."
Hikari nodded before she went through some hand signs and activated her Byakugan. 'Ninja Art: Mental Retention!' "Launch a great fireball jutsu." She had trained for hours with shadow clones to get this just right... Now it was time to put it in effect with a jutsu she didn't already know...
Sasuke shrugged and went through some hand signs. "Fire Style: Great Fireball Jutsu!" Shouted and launched the fireball over the lake. To his surprise, Hikari then performed the exact same hand signs and let out a large fireball over the lake "Fire Style: Great Fireball Jutsu!"
Hikari deactivated her genjutsu and pumped her fists in the air. "Yes! It actually works! I did it!"
Sasuke just looked at her in extreme confusion and shock "Since when could you use fire style?! I thought you were still working on lightning style!"
Hikari nodded in affirmation "That is correct Sasuke, at the highest I can perform c-ranked lightning jutsu. What I just did was replicate the jutsu copying abilities of the Sharingan's eye of insight."
"You what?!" Sasuke was literally lost for words, he knew Hikari was incredible at creating new jutsus but this…
"You see, the Byakugan can perfectly see an entire person's chakra system but lacks the photographic memory offered by the Sharingan. My new jutsu rectified this by giving myself a temporary photographic memory while I'm under its effect.
From here I can memorize my opponent's hand signs by looking at their chakra system in addition to how the chakra moves throughout their body, this lets me gain a complete understanding of the jutsu they cast." Hikari explained to a wide-eyed Sasuke. "However this jutsu is not perfect and has various weaknesses. Such weaknesses are the standard ones of the Sharingan, the fact it cannot be activated instantly like the Sharingan, and its mental strain is significantly larger.
That being said, I have far more yin chakra than I do yang chakra and this greatly negates the negative effects on me."
Sasuke still didn't know how to feel about this "That's…impressive…"
Hikari knew it wouldn't stay that way forever. She was currently working on creating seals that project genjutsu but it was extremely, extremely hard and she had yet to have any meaningful success. Perhaps she would spend another five years in Vishnu when she had a few days available to work on her sealing and lightning jutsu. It seemed that five simulated years was unfortunately her limit.
That being said, however, she could only let her yin chakra go so far above her yang chakra without causing problems. The fact of the matter was that Vishnu simply was unable to let her train in jutsus directly affecting her physical body; thus giving her a massive imbalance of yin chakra over yang chakra that she had to try and equalize by undergoing several weeks of intense physical training after awakening from the jutsu.
Due to these issues and how she wasn't about to dedicate her entire waking life to physical training, five years was probably her absolute limit that her body could handle.
Extreme chakra imbalance was a serious medical issue, if she raised her yin chakra too much and too quickly, her physical body would suffer greatly and it would be that much harder to create an equilibrium.
"So Sasuke...know any other cool elemental jutsus?" Hikari asked him with a devious smirk on her face.
Sasuke was about to get angry but he then realized how hypocritical that would be of him, he himself had secretly copied the Chidori and various other techniques from Kakashi and Hikari. 'So this is how it feels to be on the receiving end of this...not pleasant…'
"Fine. I'll show you some elemental jutsus." Sasuke ground out in annoyance.
Four Hours Later
"Alright guys, let's set up camp for the night. I'll take the first watch" Jiraiya informed them. He was about to unfurl the sleeping bag he took out of one of his storage seals when Hikari motioned for him to stop.
She then unsealed a truly massive two-yard long storage scroll from one of her smaller ones and started unrolling it in the grass. She then sent a pulse of chakra through it to unseal a modestly sized one-story house in a puff of smoke. Following this, a few smaller puffs of smoke appeared around the house to reveal a few dozen thin and wiry puppets that each had a sword and a shield attached to their arms.
"Sorry if the guards are a bit simple and crude, I created these based on the extremely limited information the leaf village has on puppetry we obtained from observing the hidden sand's puppet masters in battle." Hikari told them. "And don't worry guys, I only programmed their control seals to attack anyone who tries and/or succeeds at breaking through the currently inactive barrier seals."
Jiraiya, Sasuke, and Naruto just stared at her in shock.
"Still... These puppets are at least an entire generation ahead of what leaf R&D has come up with…" Jiraiya said in amazement.
"This house is also fully resealable so we can deploy it elsewhere after we wake up. As for the puppets, I'm planning to sell the blueprints to leaf R&D as I've done for a few other things." Hikari continued.
"How do you power this?" Jiraiya asked.
"Three of my chakra storage seals for pure chakra and one for lightning chakra. The pure chakra is to fuel the barrier and the puppets, while the lightning chakra is for the electricity. In continuous use, it can last about two months before I need to swap out the chakra storage seals." She then waved at the front of the house "Shall we go in, Pervy Sage, Naruto, Sasuke?"
Jiraiya groaned. His godson's kami-awful nickname was spreading! He was one of the legendary sanin, he deserved more respect than this! "Don't call me that! It's bad enough that Naruto came up with that stupid nickname and exclusively calls me by it!"
Naruto just glared at him flatly "Well if you didn't want that nickname, then maybe you shouldn't be such a pervert, pervy sage."
"Why you little brat! I otta-" Jiraiya began only to get stared at by Hikari with a massive amount of killing intent.
"Fine, fine. Sheesh. Let's just go into this house, I'm actually quite curious about the seal work that went into it." Jiraiya mumbled in a mixture of annoyance and curiosity.
The three ninjas just silently followed Hikari into the house while looking around in awe. Hikari sent a pulse of chakra through a sealing circuit to activate a cubic blue-white barrier that formed at the edges of the house.
One Week Later
Hikari was busy working on her latest seal on her sealing table. This seal would expand upon her chakra absorption seal to be able to absorb entire ninjutsu attacks to replenish her or her storage seals' reserves instead of just draining some of the chakra from them. Unfortunately, until she manages to make an elemental chakra conversion seal or she unlocked all five elemental affinities, she will only be able to absorb water and lightning jutsus. Such a seal would be a master-level seal, something she was still quite a bit away from.
It was then that Jiraiya walked in through the door to her mobile home's sealing lab.
"Huh, nice setup you got here. So what kind of seal are you working on?" Jiraiya asked, looking around at all the sealing formulae littered around the room.
"I'm trying to create a ninjutsu absorption seal. As I have only mastered water style and know a bit of lightning style, it would only be able to absorb those until I create a chakra nature conversion seal or unlock all five elemental affinities." Hikari explained to him.
"Well once you figure out how to create those absorption and conversion seals, let me know. Such seals are indeed master-level seals." Jiraiya told her with a smile "So you want any pointers here and there from a certified seal master?"
"I'd definitely appreciate that, Master Jiraiya." Hikari said with a smile.
Jiraiya laughed "Master Jiraiya huh? No pervy sage? Do you think buttering me up will let me slip a few extra secrets? Not happening!"
"It was worth a shot, pervy sage." Hikari said with a shrug.
Two Weeks Later: Tanzaku Town
"So, Pervy Sage, do you think the legendary sucker will be in this town? Perhaps the next one over?" Hikari asked Jiraiya.
"My spy network has informed me that she is currently visiting a casino in this town." Jiraiya informed her in a huff of annoyance, he still hated how she called him pervy sage… It was bad enough that Naruto called him that, but now she had to go about doing it too?...
"But seriously, what kind of name is 'the legendary sucker' anyway?" Naruto asked in confusion.
Jiraiya laughed in amusement "Well you see, she's a notoriously bad gambler who despite being absolutely beyond unlucky with it, would take any bet. That's how she got the name of the legendary sucker."
"She's gone into a massive amount of debt due to her little escapades, I wonder if her moniker is a double entendre as well...you know, to pay off a few debts she couldn't afford otherwise …" Hikari said with a laugh.
Jiraiya just looked at her with a proud smile. "Yes! We'll make a proper pervert out of you yet!"
"It seems that Anko' been corrupting you." Sasuke shook his head in disgust.
Naruto just looked confused "Umm, guys? What's a double on..toone...drae…?"
"Oh nothing, I'll tell you when you're older. I'm sure Jiraiya would love to have the talk with you to teach you about the birds and the bees." Hikari said mischievously. "But then again, you did make the sexy jutsu on your own so maybe you don't really need it?"
"Don't give him any ideas!" Sasuke quickly spat out.
Later: Outside A Local Bar
Hikari looked at the sign "Huh, this the place?"
"Yep." Jiraiya said as he opened the door.
They walked into the bar and Hikari found Tsunade exactly where she expected to find her, pathetically drunk off her ass on sake.
"Jiraiya, what are you doing here?!" Tsunade asked in shock.
"In Sensei's infinite wisdom, has requested you to come back to the leaf village to become the fifth Hokage." Jiraiya informed her bluntly.
"I refuse, I will not become the next Hokage! Tell him to find someone else!" Tsunade angrily told him. Honestly, what was old man Hurizen thinking?!
Naruto was furious but Hikari had an idea.
"Tsunade Senju, I challenge you to a bet." Hikari said with a smile, she had her right where she wanted her… and sure enough, that definitely got her full attention.
"I'm listening." Tsunade told her with a cocky smirk. She stared directly into the brown eyes of the young girl she didn't know was under a transformation jutsu in excitement.
"If I can defeat you in battle, then you will come back and willingly become the Hokage. You will also not complain about it. If you win, then you get 100,000 Ryo."
"Deal!" 'This is the easiest 100,000 ryo of my life!' Tsunade thought in enjoyment, she immediately knew she could win this easily.
"Why don't we take this to a wide-open place away from where people could get hurt?" Hikari suggested. Honestly, a fight against a sanin, even the weakest one, would not be one light on collateral damage…
One Hour Later: Twenty Miles Away
"I'm going to enjoy beating that 100,000 Ryo out of you little squirt!" Tsunade said confidently. Seriously taking on a sanin, what kind of idiot was this girl? A student fresh out of the academy couldn't even dream of defeating her. "To think one of the legendary sanin is taking on a snot-nosed genin, I should be ashamed of myself."
Hikari just went through some hand signs 'Lightning Style: Overdrive!' Lightning chakra then ran through her nervous system to rapidly increase her speed and reflexes. She then deactivated her resistance seals and faster than anyone could blink, flickered towards Tsunade in a flash of electricity and slapped a handful of paralysis seals all over her body.
"Jonin, I'm a jonin. And as for the seals, they are potent and nemours enough to hold even you, Tsunade." Hikari then moved to inject a potent sleeping poison into the artery in her neck. "Have a nice nap, Tsunade. A shinobi should never underestimate their opponent…" Just as the needle made contact, Tsunade turned into a puff of mist. "A Mist-Shadow Clone?"
It was then that Tsunade came out of the ground aiming to punch her with a lightning-infused fist. Hikari quickly moved out of the way in another flash of electricity. She then rapidly moved through some hand signs 'Fire Style: Phoenix Flower Jutsu!'
Various small orbs of fire flew out of her mouth and toward Tsunade who also went through some hand signs "Water Style: Water Dome!" Water quickly came out of her mouth to form a wall of water as Hikari rapidly went through some hand signs faster than the eye could see "Lightning Style: Lightning Beast Running!"
A hound made from lightning chakra quickly leaped towards the wide-eyed Tsunade who used earth style to head unground.
'Nice try' Hikari thought as she activated her Byakugan. She then quickly made a shadow clone and both quickly went through some hand signs 'Typhoon Style: Electrified Water Fuma Shuriken!' Hundreds of Fuma shuriken formed from water in the air and Hikari quickly sent lightning chakra into them with a small bolt of lightning towards them. She then sent the electrified water Fuma shurikens directly through the earth toward Tsunade underground, who jumped out in surprise.
"Three elemental affinities, the ability to silently cast jutsu, and a powerful sensor? No wonder you're a jonin. Still, jonin or not, you cannot hope to defeat me. I've killed hundreds of jonin who were far more talented than you!" Tsunade said cockily.
Hikari nodded and decided to go all out, well mostly all out. She dispelled her transformation and activated her chakra armor, chakra barrier plates, and unsealed her four purity-seeking orbs.
"You're a Hyuuga?!" Tsunade said in utter shock. She recognized those eyes with veins pulsing around them anywhere, but a Hyuuga using ninjutsu and wearing old-fashioned plate armor and...were, were those some kind of tiny chakra barriers used like interlocking armor plates? And what were those four floating white orbs behind her back?
"This fight is over." Hikari said simply as she morphed one of her purity-seeking orbs into a pure blade, channeled lightning chakra through it, and rushed towards Tsunade in a flash of lightning. Quicker than the eye could see, Hikari plunged her blade straight through Tsunade's ribs and out her back with a splash of blood. Tsunade then fell to the ground in a bloody heap, occasionally writhing involuntarily from residual lightning chakra.
Shizune just looked at Hikari in shock, she had just defeated Tsunade in battle...
"I didn't hit anything critical, I specifically targeted areas that wouldn't kill or cripple her." She said as she deactivated her jutsus.
Jiraiya made a whistling noise "Wow! I knew you were a Kage-level kunoichi, but damn! That speed was like watching Minato fight again!" 'Oh, how nostalgic! it's going to be so much fun when she becomes a seal master and I teach her Minato's improved flying thunder god jutsu formula…' he thought. 'That being said, Tsunade is rather out of practice compared to when she was an active ninja…'
Shizune rapidly came up to start trying to heal Tsunade as she looked at her own blood pooling around her in shock and remembrance. Shizune then fed her a plasma pill so she wouldn't suffer from the blood loss.
Hikari then kneeled down next to Tsunade's face and looked her directly in the eyes, full of fiery determination "I will reignite the will of fire in your heart if it's the last thing I do!"
Tsunade looked at her in further shock 'those...those words…that look…' She remembered when her grandfather said those exact words and gave her that exact same look when she was just a little girl right before his battle against Madara Uchiha in the valley of the end. 'I will reignite the will of fire in Madara's heart if it's the last thing I do!'
Tsunade always loved her grandfather, he was where she picked up her gambling addiction and bad luck at it from after all. The more she thought about it the more she knew this girl was right. She hated that fact. Her grandparents would be disappointed in her, her parents would be disappointed in her, her lover would be disappointed in her, her brother would be disappointed in her, her clan never outright said it but they were probably also disappointed in her...She had decided, she would become the Hokage for them...and for herself...
"Fine! I'll become the fifth Hokage!" She said in resignation. She hated it but she had to do this, her entire family would have wanted and supported it...Her clan back...home...back home in the leaf village would want and support it...
"Lady Tsunade! Please hold on! Hikari is right, she purposely missed all vital and crippling areas!" Shizune said, trying to reassure her before she turned to Jiraiya. "Just….just what has happened in the leaf village recently?…" She asked.
"Orochimaru invaded the leaf village. The Invasion failed and these three killed Orochimaru for the time being." He said waving towards Sasuke, Naruto, and Hikari.
"For the time being? And killing Orochimaru?! That's just insane! They couldn't have done that!" Shizune asked in complete shock and confusion.
Tsunade knew what her family would have wanted, her clan would be wanting, and what she wanted…They would want her to move past her fears and move on in life as the fifth Hokage… "...Orochimaru was always obsessed with immortality, to think he actually succeeded…as for these three brats beating Orochimaru, I don't buy it."
"Oh, they did very well kill him. As for him lying, perhaps, but based on what he said he likely did indeed achieve some form of immortality." Jiraiya told her.
"You can't seriously be trying to make me believe these three killed Orochimaru!" Tsunade said in disbelief while looking at Jiraiya's three subordinates.
"Oh they did, and Hikari here laid the killing blow with a completed Rasengan using water chakra, she calls it her compression Rasengan." Jiraiya told her candidly.
Tsunade yet again looked at him in utter disbelief. "Are you kidding? She completed the Rasengan?!"
"Nope, I'm not kidding! There's a reason she is constantly being compared to your great uncle all the time!" Jiraiya said happily.
"Also, you said earlier that I have three elemental affinities, that is false. I have fully mastered water style and am currently working on doing the same for lightning style. As for the fire jutsu, I made a jutsu that allows my Byakugan to act as a pseudo Sharingan and copy ninjutsu, genjutsu, and taijutsu while it's activated." Hikari told her.
"Really? A Hyuuga who knows high-level genjutsu as well? What has the world come to?" Tsunade said while trying not to be surprised.
"So lord fifth, shall we get going once Shizune heals you from the injury a fourteen-year-old girl inflicted on your delicate royal ass?" Jiraiya asked sarcastically.
"Don't patronize me, Jiraiya!" Tsunade barked in anger. "This fourteen-year-old girl in question is a Kage-level kunoichi! I don't need to be ashamed of myself for losing to her!"
"She has a point you know, people are calling her the reincarnation of the second Hokage all the time…" Sasuke paused dramatically before ever so slightly smirking. "… pervy sage…"
"OH FOR FUCKS SAKE! NOT YOU TOO!" Jiraiya exploded in fury.
Tsunade laughed "Pervy Sage huh? I've got to say it's quite an appropriate name. Who came up with it?"
"I did! I did! When I first met him he did this weird dance while going on albeit a pervert and a sage! So I called him pervy sage!" Naruto said happily. He loved being acknowledged by other people.
"Oh? I think we're going to get along just fine, Naruto. Pervy sage will surely allow his pupil some time with me to exchange insults?" Tsunade said deviously.
"YOU TO TSUNADE?!" Jiraiya yelled in anger only for Tsunade to give him the middle finger with a laugh.
"Of course pervy sage, I'm going to be the Hokage after all aren't I?" Tsunade said as seriously as she possibly could. Jiraiya just stomped off in a huff.
"Make sure to be back soon, pervy sage! Your Hokage demands it!" Tsunade said while laughing hysterically.
One Week Later: Mobile Home; Server Room
Hikari was hard at work studying various jutsus from her jutsu master scrolls, a massive set of scrolls containing every single jutsu the Uchiha clan had ever copied with their Sharingan that she had digitally transcribed onto a few hard drives. It would have likely enraged the other clans of the leaf village and many outside it if they had learned that the Uchiha Clan had copied all their hidden jutsus.
Right now, she was busy reading up on yang-based jutsus on the topic of the cultivation and growing of body parts from DNA to one day create her flesh clones. Not only would this help her create her flesh clones to move her consciousness around, but it would help the medical sector to help replace lost limbs and organs.
On another monitor next to her, she was cross-referencing some genetics studies, specifically the properties of DNA and how it interacts with chakra that she digitally transcribed from some medical scrolls.
It was then that Tsunade came in and looked at all the various databases and Hikari sitting in front of a wall of cubic computer screens.
"How the hell can you afford all this?!" Tsunade asked in shock.
"Oh, this is nothing compared to my main base. As for how I can afford it, Orochimaru is a rich man? woman? hermaphrodite? Let's go with hermaphrodite. They're a rich hermaphrodite who I happened to accidentally come across one of their main labs in the leaf village and appropriated it and its vault' funds for my own. Those funds were quite considerable."
"And Sensei allowed this?" Tsunade questioned.
"He didn't know at first but he allowed it after he saw some of the innovations I made if I let them be used by the leaf village." Hikari explained.
"So what are you working on? If you're as similar to my great uncle as everyone apparently says you are, then you must always be working on some new jutsu in your downtime." Tsunade responded.
Hikari hesitated but decided to tell her the truth, or at least part of it. "I'm looking into the feasibility of growing new organs from DNA samples to create what would essentially be flesh clones. You're a medical ninja, think of what could happen if we could grow new limbs and organs for patients who lost theirs."
"Alright, you've convinced me. I'm helping you." Tsunade said suddenly.
"Um, excuse me?" Hikari said somewhat taken aback.
"You've convinced me of the value of your research. When I become Hokage, I'm going to offer you a transfer for part-time duties over at Leaf R&D."
"I already have part-time duties in the T&I department and I really don't feel like moving my entire laboratory." Hikari told her honestly.
Tsunade just looked at her "You work part-time in T&I?"
"I'm the apprentice of Anko Mitarashi. I have a sadistic side, believe it or not." Hikari explained.
"Hmm, as you clearly have both strong morals and empathy, I'm going to give you full funding and provide staff to help you in your laboratory." Tsunade told her.
Hikari's face lit up "Oh thank you Tsunade! Basic automated puppetry and a few shadow clones can only accomplish so much!"
"Your welcome, Hikari." Tsunade told her.
'My research will no longer be secret now, I think I should check with Sandro if I can build a laboratory in the Ryūchi Caves, it would also help due to the dimensional time difference…' Hikari started pondering. 'I wonder if I can use puppetry in the construction process?'
"Well, I'm going to sleep, we're returning to the village tomorrow." Tsunade said, walking out of the room.
The Next Night: Hokage's Office
"Good job everyone! You have completed the mission and have managed to rekindle Tsunade's faith and love in the leaf village!" The third Hokage began with a smile. "But before I turn over the hat to Tsunade, I've decided to recreate team seven by adding a new member" he then turned to the door "Sai, you may come in…"
A pale man with an obviously fake smile came into the room and stood there emotionless. She activated her Byakugan under a transformation jutsu to see his chakra, her thoughts were confirmed when his chakra showed no emotion whatsoever. The results she got from this new sensing skill she developed instantly put Hikari on edge.
"Is Sai loyal to the leaf village, or just the extremist ideals of the deceased Danzō and his Root lackies?" Hikari asked the hokage.
The Hokage gave her a small smirk "How did you figure that out, Hikari?"
"I've developed a new sensory skill where I can sense the emotions of others by reading their chakra." She then dropped the transformation jutsu over her eyes to show her Byakugan was actually active instead of inactive "Danzō was a cold, ruthless, and heartless pragmatist who gained the moniker 'The Shinobi of Darkness.' Danzō saw emotion as a weakness that needed to be replaced with blind obedience, and that is exactly what he did.
Just like what is done in the bloody mist village, the final test Root ninjas take is to kill their closest friend in a fight to the death in order to close off their heart. However, even in the bloody mist village, the applicants are volunteers instead of victims of kidnappings. So Sai, what mother had their child forcibly taken from them to turn them into a heartless monster? What mother now thinks her son is dead?"
Hurizen Sarutobi's smirk turned into a frown accompanied by internal panic.
