A cute thought popped into my head, I love them as a couple. Unfortunately for everyone my stories write itself and people end up dead. This is a death fic, sorry about that. It is fast paced and not that great.

Junior was sitting in the passenger seat of Steve's truck in silence as he looked down at his hands, his thumbs running across each other.

"What's wrong Junior?" Steve asked taking a quick peak at the young man. "You haven't said a word all morning."

Junior shrugged his shoulders not looking up.

"Come on man, I can tell when something is wrong. And I saw you didn't touch your breakfast. That's not like you at all man." Steve said worried for his friend.

"Just a lot on my mind. I'm fine." He replied shifting in the seat slightly. "Can I turn the radio on sir?" He asked finally looking at his boss.

"You don't really need permission to do that, but today it's not allowed until you tell me what's bothering you...Did you and Tani have a fight?" He asked his face sad at the idea. He knew things between them were going great.

"No.." Junior said quietly. "But I've been thinking. Things have been so perfect." Junior's lips started to lift as a smile tugged at them. "I love her more than anything and I was out yesterday at the mall looking for an anniversary gift."

"Didn't find one?" Steve asked as they sat at the red light.

"That's not it, I did find one but.." Junior looked over his eyes wide. "I found one I wasn't looking for. It's been in the back of my mind for a while now, I mean from the moment I started to have feeling for her."

Steve being naturally a curious man looked over trying to read the man. "What? You finally gave in and bought her a ring?" He said half jokingly a smile on his face.

Junior's lips parted as a huge smile suddenly took a hold of his nervous face. "Yes! I mean I didn't mean to but I found myself standing in front of K Jewelers and next thing I knew I was looking though all the cases as I sweated."

Steve smiled thinking about how perfect the two were together, he figured the two would get married one day.

"And then next thing I know I was leaving with this." Junior suddenly had a black velvet box in his hand. "And I've been scared in my life but this one tops it all for some reason...What if she says no?" Junior asked his boss the smile leaving his face.

"She would never say no Junior. She loves you." Steve reassured him a smile still on his face, he never saw this side of Junior before, the look in his eyes.

"Like what if she did? What if it's too soon? It's only been a year man...What if she leaves me because I made her uneasy with the idea? Wha..."

"Woh, woh, man, stop that." Steve cut him off as he pulled his truck over parking it. Shifting in his seat he looked Junior in the eyes. "That's not going to happen. You need to think positive."

"But how do you know? She's everything I don't deserve. She's smart, beautiful, perfect...I'm not good enough for her." Junior looked down at the ring that sparkled in the light coming through the truck's half rolled down window. "This reminds me of her." He said knowing he picked out the most perfect diamond. He smiled at the ring as his hand started to shake getting nervous at the thought of getting on one knee for the first and only time in his life. "She's the one Steve. I want her to be Mrs. Reigns."

"That I have no doubt about bud." Steve said smiling like an idiot happy for the young couple. "Now hide that before we get to the office." He said as he started the truck and began to pull from the side of the road. "Shit!" He yelled hitting the breaks as a cars tires squealed as it swerved away almost hitting Steve's beloved truck.

Junior's body lunged forward as the truck came to abrupt halt his hands came up out of instinct the box in his right hand bouncing off the dashboard and out the window in one swift motion. "No!" He yelled pushing the door open and jumping out. "No, no..." He said looking down at the ground.

"Junior?" Steve asked coming around the truck. "You alright?"

"The ring." Junior said his face somber as he looked down at the gutter at his feet. "Its a sign!"

{}{}{}{}

A little over and hour later Steve and Junior were almost back to the office both sweaty, dirty and smelly. "Totally worth it." Junior said smiling as he looked down at the open box that kept the beautiful ring safe. "Thanks for helping Steven."

"No problem." Steve's face was a lot cleaner then Juniors, since Junior slipped and fell backwards into the sewer slop as soon as his foot left the ladder. "I cannot wait for a shower though."

"I can't wait for dinner tonight with Tani though, what if I slip before though? I hate keeping secrets.."

"This is the best kind of secret to keep Junior. The only one you should ever keep." Steve told the man as his cell phone started to ring. "McGarrett. Wait... what? Where are you? On my way." Steve hung up whipping the truck around and accelerating.

"What happened?"

"Tani and Danny are being pinned down by heavy gun fire from some drug dealers." Steve kicked himself for allowing the two to go check it out alone.

The truck raced around a corner screeching to a halt. He could see Danny ducking behind an old rusty car and Tani was laying next to him on her stomach with Danny's hand on her back.

"Danny!" Steve called out as bullets started to ping as they hit his truck.

Junior's eyes went wide as he saw his beloved laying in the dirt face down. "Tani!" He yelled, he was about to start running when a hail of bullets flew past him. Turning he dove behind the pickup truck his arm suddenly on fire. Looking down at his left bicep he could see his blue shirt turning red. Grabbing his gun with both hands he leaned over the back of the truck and started firing at the drug dealers. Two down, he told himself as he ducked as more bullets riddled Steve's truck.

"Cover me!" Steve yelled getting a nod from Junior, who started firing.

Steve fired a few rounds as he ran across the opening from his truck to his two team mates. Sliding across the dirt he stopped beside Danny. "How is she?" He asked looking from Tani to Danny. Danny's gun was loosely in his hands, empty. Leaning over he took out a guy who was trying to sneak up on them. The gun fire dying suddenly. Steve took a quick look around for anymore bad guys before looking back down at Danny.

Danny looked at him his eyes red and watery his body shaking from shock. "They came out of nowhere. We ran out of ammo...she.." He said shock on his face, his hand still resting on Tani's back. "I'm sorry."

Steve's eyes widened as he looked down at Tani. "Tani?" As he placed two fingers on the side of her neck he noticed the blood slowly pooling around her chest. "No." Steve's eyes grew wide as anger built in his chest. She was gone. This was so unfair. He could hear Junior in calling out to her, his voice getting closer.

"Tani?" He cried looking down at his beloved. Falling to his knees beside his fallen teammate, as gently as he could he turned her over, her face ash, lips blue, her beautiful brown eyes closed. "No no no no, please no." He begged God as he placed his shaking fingers to her neck. Her skin was warm but no familiar thump under his fingers. His heart skipped a beat as hers would never do again. "Tani!" His scream ripped his very soul out. Steve placed his hand on Juniors shoulder, there was nothing he could say.

This will be rewritten to what was first planned, and will be a sweet one.
