Rita managed to get back to her boat and gently laid Roddy down on the deck. Behind her back, Rita crossed both her fingers.
Roddy woke up and saw that he was back on the boat. He saw Rita smiling at him. Roddy looked behind him and saw his own rat tail.
"It worked," he said. Then he gasped. He was speaking in his own voice again!
In amazement, Roddy looked at his hands and saw that they were his brown, smooth hands. This clearly told him that he was back in his own body.
"Ha ha!" he laughed as he jumped around. "I'm a rat again!"
When Roddy stopped doing his happy dance, Rita smiled.
"Welcome back, Roddy," she said as she hugged him with a smile.
And Roddy couldn't help but smile back.
As for the Toad, he was just as happy as ever to be himself again. When a fly flew into his lair, the Toad shot his tongue out and snatched it out of the air.
"It's so good to have you back, tongue!" said the Toad.
Whitey and Spike were confused.
"Something's different about the boss," Whitey whispered to Spike.
Spike scoffed. "He's always like that."
"No," Whitey replied, "as in, he's happier. Like someone possessed his body when he passed out. Does this mean…"
The rats looked at each other.
Then, they both said together, "Nah!"
The Toad looked at Spike and Whitey in anger.
"Go get that tiger's eye!" ordered the Toad.
