"You think Jon found her?" Chris asked as they sat in his apartment.
"He probably has." She replied. "Jon's pretty good at finding people."
"I just can't believe the judge let him out knowing what he did."
Quinn put her hand on his arm. "We just have to have faith that he'll get what's coming to him this time."
"I'm worried that he will come back after Tricia and finish the job." He looked at her. "He attacked her and raped her to send me a message. He did the same thing to Kaitlyn except he killed her. What if he comes back after Tricia to kill her too?"
"That's not going to happen."
"How do you know?" He asked. "I know we have protection detail but do you really think that will stop Barrett? He's crazy and unhinged. I mean I think Tricia's rape and assault pretty much says that. She had never met him and he had never met her. He targeted her only because she's my sister. If he wants to finish the job, do you think anything can stop him? I thought she was safe with him in jail. Now he's out on bail and even with the restraining order, he's dangerous."
She walked over to him and made her face him. "Nothing is going to happen to her okay? We're going to make sure he goes away for a long time. But you've got to really believe that and help us fight for it. Be the guy you are in court. That cocky, self assured asshole everyone expects." Chris looked into her and smiled halfheartedly.
"You really have a way with words you know that?"
"Yeah I've been told that before."
"You haven't called me an asshole in ages."
"I bring it out when the time is right. We'll get him this time Chris. We will." He nodded and headed to the kitchen.
Jon looked over at Tricia as they headed back to Chris's apartment. "Tricia, it will be okay. Wade isn't going to get near you."
"I hope you're right." She said to him. "I can't wait until my apartment is ready. I love my brother but I need to be in my place."
"You could come stay at my place. Just for now."
"I don't know." She said biting her lip a little bit.
"You're worried about Wade, right?" He asked and she nodded. "Well this would be last place he would think to look." He said looking over at her. "But it's up to you. Your place will probably be ready in a few days. Then when you go back there, I go too. I'm your protection detail."
"Fancy way of saying babysitter."
"Well in a way I guess so. But my job is to protect you and make sure Wade stays away from you. I will never let anything happen to you."
"Alright."
"Alright?" He asked looking at her.
"I'll stay with you until my place is done. You're right. It is the last place Wade would look."
"Alright. We will go tell Chris and Quinn and get your stuff."
"It's too bad though. I think they were starting to reconnect."
"Well, we could both stay at Chris's if you want and give them a chance." He said looking over at her. "If that's what you want. Tricia, I want you to decide where you want to go. If you want to stay at Chris and try to get them together. We can do that. If you want to stay with me, we can do that too. So you tell me."
"We can go back to Chris's."
"Alright and we can work on getting Quinn and Chris together."
"You want to play match maker with me?" She asked him.
"If you think they belong together, then I will play match maker with you." She smiled at him. "Is that a smile?"
"You're helping because you can't resist my charm. And the need to do what I want."
"Yeah that's it." She smiled and looked out the window as they drove to Chris's apartment. They pulled in and parked in the parking garage. They then headed up to Chris's.
"Finally." Chris said when he saw her and hugged her. "Don't ever leave without telling me. I can't lose you."
"Don't worry. I'll be fine."
"You will be as long as I know where you are."
"Chris, you can't be with me twenty four/seven." She replied. "My apartment will be ready for me to move back in before long."
"I still don't think that's a good idea."
Tricia sighed. "Chris, I can't stay here forever. I love you. You're my brother. But I need to be back in my place once it's done. I have to try to move on. And I can't do that if I'm living with you forever. I need to get my life back. Please tell me you understand that."
"I do. But you're my sister and I'm always going to worry about you."
"I know." She smiled. "And I'm so glad you worry. But I'm going to be fine once I go home. I understand I will still have my protection detail until after the trial is over."
"How about we table this discussion for now and order dinner? Maybe we can play some cards or something later?" Quinn said.
"Sounds good." Jon said to them.
"I agree." Tricia smiled. "And I think we should play the game of Life instead of cards."
"Why life?"
"Because I like it." Tricia replied. "It's my favorite game. So, let's play life and get the little cars and people and just have fun."
"Yeah sure why not?" Chris said.
"You use to play all the time when we were kids." Tricia said as she got out the game. "Why else would you have the game in your closet?" She smiled.
"You use to play life?" Quinn asked him.
"Because Tricia made me."
"I did not." Tricia smiled as she got out the game and set it up. "You wanted to play."
"It was just me and Tricia with the nanny. There was nothing else to do but play life with my little sister."
"Keep telling yourself that Mr. Big bad DA!"
"Oh you're going down Patricia Leanna Irvine."
"Did you just whole name me Christopher Keith?"
"Yes I did and you know that means game on."
"Bring on bro."
"Are they always like this?" Jon asked Quinn as she stood there smiling. Quinn nodded.
"Pretty much all the time." She smiled. "And it's nice to see Tricia acting like she normally would." Jon nodded.
"Well, come on you two. Pick your cars and the little people. And then decide if you're going to college or straight to a job." Tricia said to them.
"Give Quinn the green car. It's the one she always gets."
Tricia looked at Quinn and Chris. "You guys have played this game together haven't you?" She asked them. "I hope you were clothed when you did."
Chris smiled over at Quinn. "Sometimes."
"Eww, don't want to know more." Tricia said. "Let's play this game. And I'm going to college. So banker, give me some those bank loan notes." Jon nodded and handed her them.
Everyone else got their things together and started playing. Chris looked over at Tricia as she laughed about Jon ended up with two cars full of kids. It was nice to see her laughing. He hoped it meant she was slowly healing from what happened.
