(So it's not my pasting that is the problem nor is it my internet fluctuating or anything of the sort that is causing missing words. hates me. It hates my writing style so it's removing different things. -.- Again I am sorry for this, problem. I am working on fixing what fanfic did.)
Chapter 3
Three days and all I've been doing is going from occult store to occult store trying to find a way back home. Yet, all I found is made-up rubbish that wouldn't work even if someone like me tried it. Rubbing my tired eyes I try to figure out another place to check. Biting my bottom lip I look up at the sky. "If I tried the internet all I would most likely get is more complete and utter nonsense. Top it off the past two days every time I go, Light is never home." Looking ahead of me I begin walking again, my skirt lightly brushing against my upper thighs showing skin between the fabric and my knee-high black socks. Pulling my backpack higher up onto my back causes my see-through off-the-shoulder white shirt to ruffle showing more of the blue spaghetti string tank top underneath it. With my long black hair pulled up into a high ponytail giving view to my crescent moon dangling earrings. Looking at my watch my eyes widen noticing the time. "Shit it's 4:15! It would normally take 20 minutes to get from here to Lights!" It was time, in just ten minutes L's broadcast will begin. (Don't believe me? Go to episode 2. 14:56 in the left-hand corner of the TV is a clock that says 4:25 pm.) Running I push my legs as fast as I can, nearly wanting to drop my bag so I can make it there in time. An animalistic growl escaped from me causing those who I was running by to stop and watch me but, I didn't have the time to care about that!
"Damn it, if I had wings like mom and dad I would totally be there by now!" Corner after corner I push myself so I don't lose momentum, nearly smacking into an elderly woman that I barely even dodged in time. Reaching Light's house I throw myself into the air landing on top of his yard fence before leaping into the neighboring tree and running down a branch; launching myself over the top of his yard and catching hold of his small balcony. With a kick of my legs, I flip myself upside down into a handstand, tilting my legs back so as they touch the floor of the balcony my upper body goes with it. Nearly causing myself to roll into the sliding glass door. Throwing it open in mid-fall I roll into his room smacking against his bed. "Don't!" I say loudly causing Light to jump but it was all for naught. I heard the sounds of Lind L. Tailor in his final moments. Rubbing my throbbing head as I continue to try and regulate my breathing I nearly cry from failing.
"Eh... I had to test this just in case but I... Never thought it would actually happen... Kira... It seems you can kill people without having to be there in person... I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't just witnessed it.." Standing I walk over to Light who is just staring at the TV in disbelief. "Listen to me, Kira... If you did indeed kill Lind. L. Tailor the man who you just saw die on television. I should tell you he was an inmate whose execution was scheduled for today. That was not me. The police arrested him in absolute secrecy so you wouldn't have heard about him on TV or through the internet. It appears that not even you have access to information about these types of criminals."
"Hehe. He got you there." Ryuk said momentarily leaning down closer to Light's height.
"But I assure you! L is real. I do exist... Now! Try to kill me!… What's wrong hurry up! Come on right now! Kill me! Come on try and kill me. What's the matter can't you do it?"
I began reciting his speech subconsciously. "Well, Kira it seems you can't kill me after all." Ryuk's annoying laugh pipes in on my pause. "So there are some people you can't kill. You've given me a useful hint. Let me return the favor. I'll tell you something I think you'll find interesting." Light looks at me in the same disbelieving stare. "Although this was announced as a worldwide broadcast. The truth is we are only broadcasting in the Kanto region of Japan.. I had planned to broadcast this message around the world until we found you. But it looks like that won't be necessary. I now know where you are." Ryuk laughs again and my cheeks redden realizing I was talking along with L now watching Light rather than the TV.
"This L guy is pretty good" Ryuk comments between laughs.
"The police treated your first killing as an unrelated incident." I nip my bottom lip before continuing along with L's words. "But in actuality, the first of your victims was a suspect in Shinjuku. Of all the criminals that have recently died of heart attacks, this one's crime was by far the least serious furthermore his crime was only ever reported inside Japan. I used that information to deduce this much. You are in Japan and your first victim was little more than an experiment which means you haven't been killing for very long. We decided to broadcast in Kanto first because of its large population and luckily we found you. To be completely honest with you. I never expected that things would go this well. But it won't be too long now before I am able to sentence you to death. Naturally, I'm very interested to know how you are able to commit these murders without being present. But I don't mind waiting a little longer. You can answer all of my questions when I catch you. Let's meet again soon Kira." Falling silent I fold my hands behind my back and close my eyes. Wishing I had made it here in time or could have reached him during these last three days.
"Really, he's going to sentence me to death. Sounds Interesting. I accept your challenge L." Looking up I see his determined eyes and can't help but smile. "L, I will hunt you down wherever you're hiding and I will eliminate you... I am!.. Justice!" Walking over to his bed, making sure I avoid touching Ryuk who had moved next to me. Setting down I open my bag to make sure everything was still alright. Pulling out each and every case, bag, binder, and having the notebook lay face down so the letters were hidden by the bed covers. Setting my bag at my feet I pick up first my iPod and check the screen then pulling my Ihome out of its case I check it as well before moving on to my Ipad. "You knew." Light said finally calmer than he was a minute ago. Nodding I set my Ipad down.
"Yes, I knew, I've been trying to see you for three days now to warn you. Today I had hoped I would get here soon enough from running as fast as I could from across town." Finally picking up my cell phone I click the screen on to see if it was cracked. "This is one of the mistakes I told you about before you had gone to school a few days ago. Now things will be a lot more difficult since L knows you're in Japan."
"You weren't kidding when you kept saying we're in your favorite anime to watch. That's the only reason I can think of that you were able to speak L's words as he was saying them." I felt him sit beside me as he looks at my gadgets. "I've been wondering what you had in this bag of yours."
"It's all of my essentials... And of course, I wasn't lying before. I can't stand people who lie to me so I don't do it either." Sitting there I watch him as he turns on my Ihome. "By the way. Hello Ryuk." I tell him getting an interesting sound of startled shock from him. Getting up I walk to his window and look out into the darkening sky. Seeing Light still fiddling around and looking at my stuff from his reflection in the glass. As he reaches for my notebook I sigh drawing his attention. "I should tell you. I'm not…" Closing my eyes I cross my arms over my breasts gripping hold of my upper arms trying to make myself just come out and say it. "I'm not human."
"What are.."
"What am I saying? What am I if not human?" I answer for him moving to his bed and pushing him down.
"Wha.." He starts as I crawl on top of him straddling his hips with my hands on the bed on either side of his face.
"Light, I trust you as I know you are beginning to trust me. That is why I'm telling you this. I believe now with everything that has happened you know I'm not lying." He reaches up and touches the moon earrings I am wearing. A smile curving his lips.
"I believe you. As you said with the notebook, and you just showing up and proving your words to me. I have no reason to doubt you anymore." I'm tempted to smile but I force myself not to. This was a serious topic and no matter how relieved I am to hear he accepts me I can't lose sight of what I'm trying to tell him. "Use me as your shield if you must. Both my parents are awakened beings so I was born mostly awakened as well. I won't receive my full form until I master my power and it reaches its full limitations but, I still can't be killed by conventional means." Dropping my head to his chest my body shakes. I close my eyes feeling completely drained, the burning I've felt in my throat every day since I got here has gotten worse. As if it was eating away at my very existence. Feeling his arms wrap around me he finally breaks the silence.
"I'm honored you shared that with me Kira." He breathes before suddenly pushing me up to look at him. "Why are you trembling?"
My cheeks go pink as I advert my eyes away from him. "I haven't fed since I arrived in this world. I guess I'm just hungry."
"You haven't eaten all week?"
Shaking my head I close my eyes clenching my fists in the blanket around him. "I haven't but that's not what I mean."
Feeling his hand lightly touch my cheek I look back down at him my body's shake intensifying as the hunger I have for him grows. "Let me guess. Blood." He says calmly with a smile my eyes just widen at his words. "What? I've watched my fair share of Television. That's it isn't it." Nodding I close my eyes knowing before long they will reflect my hunger with their inhuman glow. Feeling his hand move from my cheek to just below my ponytail he grips hold of me tightly. Pulling me against him with my face buried against his neck.
*Light*
Having her crawl on top of me made me wonder if I was in a dream. Also thankful I've been keeping my door locked anymore. As she admitted to me of not being human fear flashed through her charcoal eyes gnawing at my heart worse than it had the last time. With her dropping against me I felt her breasts fully press against my abdomen raising about the very feelings I've been getting around her. Which I can only conclude as arousal for I am physically attracted to her. Wrapping my arms around her touched that she was able to share all of this with me. "I'm honored you shared that with me Kira." Noticing she was shaking I push her so she is more sitting up so I can look into her eyes but instead of fear within their depths there was something else. "Why are you trembling?"
Her cheeks go red threatening to take my breath away as it usually did when she blushes but then, she looked away as if ashamed. "I haven't fed since I arrived in this world. I guess I'm just hungry."
"You haven't eaten all week?" Disbelief fills me but it was soon taken over by worry.
Watching her shake her head and close her eyes worry pooled through me thinking about just getting up and taking her downstairs to eat. "I haven't but that's not what I mean."
My eyes widen as the realization hit me from the conversation we have been having. Raising my hand I lightly touch her cheek. Making her look back down at me her shaking only worsens as she does. "Let me guess. Blood." I speak before I could catch myself, seeing her eyes widen in response I finally knew I was right. "What? I've watched my fair share of Television. That's it isn't it." Nodding she closes her eyes. This girl, not human but yet so frail. I thought as I move my hand to the back of her head. She is willing to become my shield without me even wishing it of her. To go through so much just for me. There is no other choice I can make even if she hadn't promised such a ridiculous feat. I pulled her to me tightly enough to show her I didn't want her to pull away, feeling her warm breath on my neck sent shivers through me but they weren't of fear from what was about to happen. My body just seems to react to her closeness. "Do it." I tell her closing my eyes. Hearing her breathing quiver as she tries to restrain herself before it was replaced by her tongue running along the curve of my neck only intensifying my bodily need for her. Loosening my grip on her I run my fingers through as much of her ponytail that my hands would allow. Wincing when I felt the piercing pain and the sound of her fangs entering my neck.
What I had said was true. If the death note, shinigami, and her somehow ending up in this world from another was real. Why wouldn't the other supernatural beings be real? Closing my eyes I listen to the unforgettable sound of her drinking from me yet rather than being grossed out I felt warm. Happy that I could be of as much use to her as she wants to be to me. She unhinges her fangs from my neck. Before she raises onto my lap away from my neck causing me to open my eyes. Looking into her bright scarlet red ones I smile at her uncertainty. Her face had flushed from what she had just done. Raising onto my left elbow, I brush the red that had run down from the left corner of her mouth from her skin, before grabbing a hold of her ponytail and crashing my lips against hers. At this moment I realize the reason why I can't get her out of my mind or the feelings that have just been continually emerging whenever she is brought up. This girl. This... Goddess. Pulling away so that our lips were mere millimeters apart I speak to her. "I love you Kira and I want you to be the Goddess of my world." Her breath caught causing me to smile before kissing her again. This time flicking her lips with my tongue so that she would open up for me. As she did I dart my tongue into the warm depths of her mouth tasting both the copper from my blood along with strawberries mixed with kiwi. Her own taste was out of this world. As if etched from perfection itself. Feeling her tongue entwine with mine a moan reverberating from her sends my mind to spinning. Moving my right hand down her back I felt her muscles inhumanly shift beneath my touch. My fingers traces down her perfectly shaped rear to her thigh where I ran my fingers along her soft as silk skin up and underneath her skirt. Her hand caught my own before I could move it more towards my body's goal before she pulled away.
Her lips were moist and plump from the kiss we just shared her cheeks were as scarlet as her eyes, brought a smile from me even though internally I was fighting against myself to not do what I really wanted to. "I think.." She pauses biting at her bottom lip the way she does that always brings about more of these forsaken urges. "I think I love you too Light." Her words bring me out of the haze of lust feeling my heart throbbing as if dancing with sheer joy. She loves me. A knock on the door just then startles us both as we look towards it. Before I could even blink she was gone, with my closet door clicking shut. Shaking my head I can't help but chuckle at her hiding. Standing I walk to my desk and put the Death note away. "Light. Mom says it's time for dinner so come down." Sayu's voice comes from behind the door.
"Alright, I'll be right down." I respond more composed than I feel. In fact, I'm rather irritated with being interrupted. Hearing her walk away I go to my closet and open the door. "Would you like to join us? Mom's been asking about you."
"That's alright. I'm full." She spoke with a bright smile before walking past me and to the bed where she began to gather up her things. Following her, I wanted to reach out to stop her. Wanting to tell her to stay with me tonight but it lodged in my throat as she grabbed her large notebook. The very one I was about to look at before she caught my attention to confide her secret to me. "Light." She said quietly.
"Yeah?"
"With my name being Kira and how I showed up right when all of these murders started it's highly plausible I may become a suspect."
"What are you saying? There is no way my dad would think you are the same, Kira."
"Possible, but your dad has a high sense of justice. If he thinks even for a second I could be connected to the murders he will not hold it back. So can you.." She turns around holding the notebook out to me. "Can you find a place to put this too, like you did with yours?"
Taking the large notebook my eyes widen as I turn it seeing the words Death note written on the cover with occult-like markings lining the entire cover. "Kira.."
"I made it with my own power. It works just like yours does."
"But how…"
"Like I said with my own power." she shot back showing she was hiding something from me.
"And what else?"
She looks away before turning around and finishing up packing the rest of her "Essentials" as she called them. "A chunk of my life as payment." Her whisper was nearly so low I couldn't even hear her.
"You gave up an amount of your life to create this?" I ask in disbelief. It's not that I don't believe her but, I just didn't want to believe she would pay such a price.
"Yes. But so you know, it requires a certain pen for it to actually work and if pages are removed they won't work. It has to stay intact. I just don't want the police to possibly find it. If it gets ruined in any way I would have to make a new one."
"And pay the same price."
"Yes."
"I understand." - I will not let you make another one.- Setting the notebook back on my bed I grip her sides and spin her so she was facing me again. With my arms now around her I pull her to me pressing my lips against hers. She is an amazing person that just seems to keep surprising me. "Stay with me tonight. You can slip out tomorrow while everyone is gone." I gave in and asked. Now nervous to her saying no but she seemed to pull back just enough to look into my eyes with a smile that seemed to only enhance her beauty.
"Then I'll stay." That is all she said before moving from my grasp and setting at the desk. "Go eat, Light. And be sure to drink some orange juice to replenish what I took from you." I nod but I find myself not moving. Feeling as if I look away she will be gone. "Don't worry, I'll be here when you get back." She encourages causing me to smile. Somehow she seems to always know when I worry about leaving her alone. Walking from the bedroom I go downstairs to see mom and Sayu already eating. My plate sitting in my spot already dipped and waiting for me.
*1 week later*
Climbing through Light's window as I have done countless times this past week I smile seeing him at his desk working either on schoolwork or writing names down. He was quite diligent but then again I already knew that. Setting on his bed in Indian style I watch him as I bite my bottom lip. Time was drawing closer to the next hurdle. Question is. Even if he doesn't kill him. Would L really set his sights on him more so than what he does anyway? Leaning back on my elbows I look up at the ceiling trying to weigh the pros and cons of this next event. Feeling warmth envelop me as arms slink around me I look to see Light leaning on his bed in front of me with his lips close to mine. He was and is completely a drug to me. One I doubt I would be able to quit even if I had wanted to. "What's wrong Kira?" His voice drawled my name out in such a tone it gave me shivers.
"I'm just thinking about what is coming next."
"Wish to share?" This made me smile. Not once this entire week has he even tried to make me reveal everything that I know. He was being considerate letting me debate on my own and decide what I need to share with him.
"Maybe I'll tell you... after you are done eating." A knock at the door brought Light up from my lap. I too get up and go into the spot that was quickly becoming my hiding place. Closing the door I set on the bag of spare clothes I had brought over here previously for my secret sleepovers with Light. Smiling I sit in the darkness and close my eyes. Realizing now that all my thinking has led me to losing rest. Stifling a yawn I find myself beginning to drift in and out of sleep. So slipping off my backpack I pull out my Ipad and headphones. Plugging them in I slip them on as I turn on my Ipad and flip to the episodes of Death note I have saved to the memory. It felt like forever by the time I paused the anime to listen in on Light and Sayu. "I knew I could count on you Light!"
"Hey, So do you think you are ready to try a few on your own now?"
"Huh? Yeah... I guess so." The doorbell goes off causing me to hold back a sigh. "Oh sounds like dad's home." I hear movement in the bedroom before hearing Mrs. Yagami's muffled voice from downstairs. "He's home really early today!"
"Hey, why don't you at least try the last problem by yourself?"
"I will but maybe after dinner."
"Yeah right."
"Helping your sister with her homework you sure are relaxed."
"Of course. If the police try to come after me I'm pretty confident I've got something that'll give me the advantage."
"Like your girlfriend." Ryuk laughs as I openly sigh this time.
"Not just her, you'll see."
Starting my anime again I watch the episodes that still have yet to happen, trying to get myself through my doubt and come to a definite conclusion. Falling asleep in the process.
"Hmm. Well isn't that interesting. Looks like the police are already beginning to suspect a student."
"Hahaha, I guess that means you're in trouble."
"If the cause of death is written within 40 seconds of writing the person's name, it will happen. If the cause of death is not specified the person will simply die of a heart attack. After writing the cause of death details of the death should be written in the next 6 minutes and 40 seconds. That sound right to you Ryuk?"
"So what's your point?"
"In other words, if I write heart attack as the death then I should be able to write down all the details including the time of death afterward, shouldn't I? Looks like I'll be able to provide you with more entertainment now." Putting my Ipad and headphones up I get out of the closet and smile at them.
"Nice deduction Light." I tell him as I rub the sleep from my eyes.
"Oh Kira, you're still here?"
"Guess I fell asleep watching anime."
"What anime were you watching?"
"The episodes of death note I have saved on my Ipad." I shrug walking to the bed and setting in Indian style next to Ryuk. "You can state the time of death yes."
"You heard me huh"
"Yeah, it was your talking that woke me up since you didn't check on me." I play pout at him.
"I'm sorry." He says getting up and coming over to me pulling me to lay down with him on the bed. "Now, what were you going to tell me after dinner?"
"Well if I tell you, you might be able to help me figure out what has me stumped."
"I'll share my thoughts if that is what you are implying." He spoke his lips brushing against my cheek causing me to flush.
"Ok, well you found out they were suspecting a student already."
"Yes"
"So you are planning on showing them it doesn't matter what time, you can kill them any time you wish as if to say "What are you going to do about it?" He fell silent but I could feel him smile against my ear. "Well, that will get L to realize there is a leak. You see it as the police and L will investigate each other to bring you that much closer to L. But in reality, the police won't investigate L. In fact, more of the police on the case will resign from it. And you'll be followed for like five days by a detective of the FBI which you will feel the necessity to get rid of him as soon as possible."
"That's right."
"Well going through with an elaborate plot to get to see his face and know his name, you wait a week before killing him. Which at the time from your end is all said and good. But on that very day, he will plan that it is his last day investigating you and report there is no cause for suspicion."
"So you are saying that when I kill this FBI agent to get him off my tail in reality I should have waited and let him be."
"Yes and no. My problem is. That if you don't kill the FBI agent you may be cleared of suspicion. But since the anime didn't take that turn I can't know for sure. Whereas when you kill him, his fiancé will be hot on your trail and you'll have to figure out how to get rid of her. But when you do her disappearance becomes known to L and he has the investigators look into the ones the FBI agent was tailing. But then if you don't kill her. What she will know could end up getting you caught sooner. To top off the way the FBI agent dies rises suspicion with L anyway."
"What happens after I get rid of the FBI agent and his fiancé?"
"Well, the agent will be watching primarily two main households so cameras and wiretaps will be placed all over your house which because you're slick you give no reason for suspicion even under those harsh circumstances."
"Then that would clear me of suspicion."
"No, it would only prove to L that no amount of cameras and wiretaps will get you to show him that you are Kira. Mainly he'll only suspect you because he has no one else to suspect."
"Hmm. Well, I think, for now, I'll play along with how I would do things. I don't want to just not kill the agent and end up being under even greater suspicion and throwing off the chain of events that you may be able to help me with later on."
Nodding I curl into him taking in his warmth and the sound of his heart. "Alright. Either way, it's your life. In the end, I will always let you decide."
"And this way I have forewarning." He comments pulling me as he rolls onto his back so my head is on his chest. Smiling I listen to his heart beating against my ear.
"How long do we have until the agents are sent into Japan?"
"Let's see, you kill criminals every hour on the hour for two days. I think it is the night of the second day that L decides to investigate the police to try and find the leak then maybe like 4 days after that the FBI agents arrive in Japan."
"So about 6 days then"
"Yes"
"Good plenty of time." I smile yawning against his bare chest enjoying the hiss that comes from him as I let out the air. "So in total, it will be about 13 days before the cameras are installed." He was now talking to himself but sleepily I respond.
"If not more because it takes a couple of days for L to hear about the agent's fiancé. So I would say about 15 to 16 days." With no response, I close my eyes letting sleep take me.
