Chapter 4

"Light You got a second?"

"Ryuk I already told you, you can't talk to me in public. How many times do I have to tell you?" Inwardly I'm infuriated with him as he continually keeps forgetting that simple detail. Walking back home after cram school I had been lost in thought wondering where Kira was. She hadn't shown up for a couple of days. She had last spoke about how she was trying to find ways to get home but wasn't having any luck. Could she have just been caught up with that? L and the police shouldn't have made her a suspect already right? Curling my lip in distaste still being quite upset from her mentioning that to me. Sure, she was right from their eyes she would fit the bill quite a bit which would make her a good suspect. I just didn't want to think about it.

"In that case, I'll talk you just listen, if you don't want to hear me you can just plug your ears or something. First of all, I don't have anything against you, in fact, I actually think the death note couldn't have been picked up by a better person. I'm here because I have to stick around until the death note is finished or I see you die whichever comes first. But make no mistake Light I'm not on your side or L's." Glancing back at him as he finished before looking ahead of me again. He now has my attention.

"Well, I knew that much already."

"You'll never hear me say anything about whether what you are doing is right or wrong. I'm not here to support you or give you my opinion I'm just a spectator. But as your roommate, I might have a few things to say now and then."

"What's this about Ryuk? Why are you telling me this stuff now anyway? It's really not like you."

"It's just I'm no ally of yours or Kira's but the only reason I am going to tell you this is because personally, it's starting to creep me out."

"Get to the point already."

"Heheheh, You're being followed by another human. He's watching you right now." Stopping from hearing this I glance back noticing a black shadow that starts to walk from a corner but backtracks back out of sight as soon as he sees me.

"It's been four days already huh." I mumble turning back around and continue walking.

"It's really starting to get on my nerves. I realize there is no way he could see me but because I'm always following behind you where ever you go I feel like I'm constantly being watched."

"That's a problem, as she said I'll have to get rid of him as soon as possible."

Walking inside and up to my room lost in thought, I walk into the dark. She has been right so far with everything she has said. There is no doubt left that she has been telling me nothing but the truth. Going over to my window and turning on my desk light as I walk past I pull the curtain back. I shouldn't look any different than your average high school senior but the longer I let this agent keep following me the greater the chances they'll figure out who I really am. Above all I need that agent's name once I figure that out, I can get rid of him for good and I doubt Kira will tell me because it's not critical to know. She has proven if she has faith in my abilities she will leave out those details.

"Light." Looking from the dark corner across the street I turn to look at Ryuk, pocketing my hands in my pants pockets. "I'm gonna let you in on a little secret." He's just standing there watching me. The moonlight casting upon him making him look even creepier than usual. "What makes a Shinigami and a human with a death note different? Well, there are two things. And why do shinigami have to write the names of humans in their death notes? You got any ideas?"

"Of course not why would I know that?" I tell him walking to my desk and setting down. "You know you sure are talkative today."

"It's because we are able to take human life spans for ourselves."

"Wait, what do you mean by that?" Turning toward him I lean a little forward in my chair curious as to the answer.

"Let's say you have a human that is due to live till the age of 60 and a god of death wrote that this person will die at 40. 60 minus 40 is 20. So 20 years taken from someone in the human world are added onto that god of death's life. So that means as long as we don't slack off even if someone were to shoot us in the head or stab us in the heart with a knife a god of death cannot die on the other hand no matter how many names you write in your death note your lifespan will not increase that is the first difference between gods of death and humans that possess a death note."

Looking down I chuckle. "That's something about shinigami that I haven't heard before. Pretty interesting stuff."

"The second difference between us will probably be of greater interest to you." Looking back at him with him having my curiosity again. "Though this has less to do with lengthening life and more to do with cutting it short."

An image of Kira flowing into my mind by his words and her death note I felt a question I just had to ask. "What do you mean about cutting it short?" Suddenly Ryuk was right in my face making me subconsciously lean back away from him.

"Shinigami can tell what a person's name is just by looking at their face we know instantly. And do you have any idea why?" He pauses as he just looks at me. "Because through a shinigami's eyes a human's name can be seen above their head not only that but we see their life span as well."

"Their name and life span?" Could that really be possible?

"That's right I am able to see your name and life span right now. If I converted that to human time I could tell you how many years you got left but there is no way I'd ever tell you that. I may have a big mouth but not even I would go that far." He laughs with that grin on his face letting me see all of his sharp shark-like teeth. "Shinigami never have to worry that they won't be able to kill a person just because they don't know their name. And every time we do take a life we always know exactly how many years we are going to receive. Our eyes just aren't the same and that is the second difference between you and I. However if a shinigami drops his death note and a human picks it up he can grant that human the eyes of a shinigami." Really? I raise my head more taking in a breath. "But if only a deal is made. One that's been with us since ancient times."

"And what's the deal?"

"The price for having a shinigami's eyes is half of that person's remaining life span that's all it is."

"Half of my remaining life span?"

"Yeah in other words if you were supposed to live another 50 years then it would be 25 if it was only one more year than 6 months."

"I see and since you've made it clear you aren't on anyone's side you wouldn't help me out and just give me the names of the people I want to kill. Basically, you are saying I can't simply borrow your powers I'd have to pay for them."

"That's right. It's a key part of the code that all shinigami are bound by. I'll say this once more, give me half of your remaining life span and I'll give you the shinigami eyes.

Smiling at his ridiculous deal I couldn't help but see the upside to all of it. "If I agree I'll be able to know everyone's name just by looking at them. If I had that power the death note would only be easier to use."

*Kira*

Walking out of my house humming I walk past a man in a black trench coat nearly pausing as I realize that is the agent I had spoken to Light about. Making myself push forward I walk through the front yard gate my long white sweater whipping around the legs of my bleached light blue jean pants that had sewn in stitching in the front where my knees were. My sky blue spaghetti string tank top open to view from my sweater like always was left unbuttoned. My backpack resting as it always is on my shoulders. Ringing the bell I wait for a response feeling eyes on my back. Sayu opens the door squealing and wrapping her arms around me. "Kira!" She hollers before pulling me inside. "Mom! Kira's here!" she laughs. "Light!" she sings. "Kira's here!" she then pulls me into the living room and onto the couch where she was watching a show before dinner.

"It's good to see you, Kira, I didn't expect you to visit."

"Yeah, I'm sorry for coming over unannounced. I haven't gotten a new phone or my service switched over yet so I'm still roaming." I give her a smile uncomfortable with how buddy buddy Sayu was being. But soon enough she was completely drawn into her show. Hearing the doorbell ring I hop up. "I'll get it." I say so Sayu stays glued and their mom doesn't have to stop preparing supper. Going to the door I open it as I hear Light coming down the stairs. Smiling when I see Light's dad so I back up and let him in. "Good evening Mr. Yagami."

"Hello, Kira how are you doing?" He asks as he shuts the door behind him.

"I'm good, I was bored so I decided to come visit. I hope that is alright."

"That is quite alright. You are welcome here anytime." Smiling I watch him hang his hat and coat before following him and Light into the dining room. "By the way. Hi Light."

"Hey Kira, it's good to see you." He says glancing back at me only with that look in his eyes that seems to always make me melt and end up with us kissing for who knows how long. At the thought, my cheeks go red.

"Kira, I have a question to ask you." I hear Light's dad say pulling me from my pleasant daydream. I walk over to him and sit across from him at the table.

"Anything Mr. Yagami." I smile as Light sits next to me finally now noticing they've added in a fifth chair I guessed was especially for when I visit.

"Kira, I haven't known you for very long but there is something about you I feel is trustworthy." Tilting my head slightly to the right in confusion I look back to him remaining quiet so he can finish his thought. "It is because of that I haven't mentioned your name at work but it still leaves me curious as to what connection if there is any between you and the Kira murders." This was so expected. I let my eyes widen in shock as if taken aback by what he was getting at. Then closing my eyes as if accepting his reasons.

"I understand . Since my name is the same as the one given to the murderer that has recently popped up. I realize it is a bit suspicious that I show up the same day as the murder in Shinjuku that L had talked about over that broadcast." looking up to him I find him watching me so I give him a soft smile. "I wouldn't expect you to think anything less Mr. Yagami but I can tell you I'm not the Kira that kills criminals aimlessly as if their lives have no value just because they have made wrong choices. A lot of people that do get put in jail for a few years do get out and not commit another crime afterward from having learned their lesson." Looking down at the table as I fold my hands together pausing momentarily to give the feeling of hurt. "I am glad Mr. Yagami, you have thought me innocent enough to not mention my name. You understand that I can't help the name I was given at birth. But unlike what my name translates into, I am no killer." I look up at him seeing him smile.

"That is all I needed to hear Kira. I hope that someday you will look at me as a father figure to you so that you can come to me with any problems you have." My heart warmed at his words as I feel a tear roll down my left eye.

"Mr. Yagami." I said my voice quivering from my attempts to not let any more tears spill. Standing I go around the table and hug him burying my face against his shoulder. Which I quickly found out was a mistake. The pent-up tears now flowing freely down my cheek as I cry against him. All I had ever wanted were parents that cared about me and now tonight has proven to me that I may have found some. Mr. Yagami patted my back gently calming my tears. I waited where I stood until I was sure the crying was stopped. Backing up I wipe my eyes with my sleeve then smile to him. "Thank you, Mr. Yagami. That is all I ever wanted to hear from a parent." His smile was warm as his eyes were caring. Setting back down I look at Light who gives me a smile as well. We all fell silent. It was a comfortable silence rather than the awkward one I had thought would follow my sudden tears. Slipping my bag off my back I set it on the floor next to me.

"So does that mean she's like my sister now?" Leave it to Saiyu, to be the one to break the silence.

"Well we can't legally adopt her but I guess if she is okay with it Sayu." Mr. Yagami says trying to hide a laugh.

"Well Kira?" she asks with an impatient tone that made me smile. Looking down I fold my hands in my lap. Thinking about Light and myself.

"Well, I've never had any siblings before so Sayu. I guess I can take on a little sister." I smile finally looking up. Noticing the smile on Light's face and knowing he caught how I neglected to mention him as a brother. Which from the watchful eyes of his father being upon us, I figure he caught that as well.

"Sweet I have a sister now!" She laughs before something happens on the show that has her gasping and whining about it.

Throughout supper, I guess Mrs. Yagami forgot to set out a fork for me. As everyone seemed to be enjoying watching me try to figure out the chopsticks before I let out an aggravated sigh and end up stabbing a cut piece of chicken with them finally managing my first bite.

"Sister, I never asked but where you from?" Sayu asks having fun calling me sister as she had been since the plates were set in front of us. I try to hurry up chewing my chicken to answer but Light shakes his head chuckling at me. "She's from America Sayu"

"Oh, that explains it." She says with an over-exasperated tone causing everyone to laugh. But for me, I'm still fighting with my chopsticks. "Here" I hear Light say as I feel him lean over me. I nearly gasp from not realizing he had even gotten up. Taking my right hand he positions it in a way my thumb was flat but facing up then he sets the chopsticks in my hand correctly. "Now you just do this" he uses his own fingers to maneuver mine causing my eyes to widen seeing the chopsticks actually pick up a piece of chicken.

"Hey, it works!" I exclaim making everyone crack up laughing at me. Light sets back down but watches as I try to bring the piece of chicken to my mouth and it drops back onto the plate. "Or not" I mumble setting down the chopsticks. Hearing a chair move and someone walks to the kitchen I pout at my plate until I see a fork being handed to me. Looking up I was met with the kind smile of Mrs. Yagami. Taking the fork I give a giggle. "Haha with this I shall eat!" I made a funny that even made myself laugh. "Thank you, Mrs. Yagami." I tell her as she sets down when the laughing finally calmed to quiet giggles. "You are welcome, dear. I am sorry I didn't bring it out earlier." She gives me an apologetic smile causing me to give her a warm one in return, if only to help alleviate the guilt she is feeling. "It's okay." I say now taking normal bites of the chicken rice and veggies.

After dinner, I wave everyone goodbye as Light shows me out. "Do you want me to walk you home?" He asks, normally I would just brush off his request because I only live a few houses down but I smile at him instead. It has been a few days since I have last seen him and already I was itching to touch him. I just labeled that as withdrawals.

"Are you sure? I only live a few houses down?" I ask giving him both a yes and a no so he could take it however he really wanted my answer to be. Shutting the door behind him I giggle. There's my answer. As we walk in silence to my house I notice the agent watching us until we got to my doorstep. "Well, here we are." I say trying to mask my excitement. "Would you like to come in?"

"No I still have more studying to do, I should be getting back." His silent I would but the agent watching us was causing him to be more cautious.

"Well then, study well. And um Light. If you ever want to go out sometime I'm game... You can always call me on my cell. The number for it is in the bag I forgot at your place."

"I would ask why you have your number in a bag of yours but I can guess it's in case you lose it right?" Light nearly chuckles as he smiles down at me. "Yep." I smile up at him with a soft smile of my own.

"Well, then I'll keep that in mind." He says before leaning down and placing a kiss on my cheek with a whispered. "When I lose him, come back over again I've missed you." My cheeks going red I very nearly had reached out to grab him.

"I missed you too" I whisper back before walking up to my door and unlocking it. "Well, I'll see you around then Light."

"See ya." He says casually before turning and walking back towards his house. Walking inside I close the door behind me before locking it and taking off my shoes. It was time to call it a night. I have more searching to do tomorrow.

Walking up to my house as a large truck pulls up I turn to face it after unlocking the door. Seeing the logo of a computer company I smile. They're finally here. Opening the door I wait for them to unload all of the boxes before stepping out of the way. "Just put them inside I'll move them up to the room I wish for them to be in." I tell them but the guy as he lets go of the dolly looks at me with a raised brow.

"Not to be rude miss but I'll do it for you. It wouldn't be right if I were to leave the heavy lifting to you." Sighing I shake my head. Chivalry and people said it was dead. Walking inside past him I move towards the stairs. My house was built a lot like Light's so it didn't take me long to get used to it.

"Then I'll show you the room." I tell him as I start up the stairs. Pausing as I hear him lift one of the boxes. When I was sure he was ready to follow I went up the stairs and to the right. In the Yagami house, this would have been Sayu's bedroom. I thought as I walk into the nearly completely empty room. The only thing in it was a large desk I had bought and set up especially for this equipment. "Please set it near the desk." I tell him before walking out and up to my room to change from the outfit I'm wearing. It was made up of a white skirt with blue trimming and a white spaghetti string tank top. Tugging on a pair of white pinstripe black slacks and a white fur off-the-shoulder sweater I walk back into the room leaning against the door frame as I watch him start pulling the equipment out of the boxes he had accumulated at his feet. Yes, I wasn't going to leave him to set it up without me at least watching him to make sure he didn't put anything funny into the towers.

"What's a girl like you need with these babies?" He asks trying to break the silence. "I like my games and these are the best on the market for them. The multiple screens are for different games at a time or if I would like to watch anime and leave my games paused. Simple as that." I answer him lightly almost as if he should have known that by now. "Sweet, maybe if you get into some online games I can play with you." Is he really going down this road? I nearly frown at my own thought, he's just trying to be nice. "Maybe but then again there would be no way for us to contact each other to know if we play the same games."

"True. Guess that means I'll have to leave you my number." Was this guy flirting with me? Seriously, he should have just did his job and left. "Thanks, that'd be awesome." I try to keep myself polite and not let slip what I was actually thinking.

Standing up straight he smiles at his work before turning to me and pulling a card from the chest pocket in his coveralls. "I'll be waiting for that call." He said confidently before walking down the stairs and out of the house. Following him, I lock the door behind him. Seriously, that guy was kind of creepy.

After checking all of the towers and screens even the mouse and keyboard I set my screwdriver down content that nothing had been tampered with. Setting down I bring up my home screen looking at the three screens with a smile. Yes, all my times alone I've learned one thing really well and it wasn't just simply how to watch anime. Giggling as my fingers begin typing away, hacking into the Yagami home network and into both Light's and Mr. Yagami's files. In the anime, Light becomes withdrawn and secretive not giving the whole bit of information. I just wanted to prevent that. After copying all the files I set back switching Light's computer to the left computer screen shadowing his very computer. At the moment it doesn't look like he is home yet. Getting up I walk downstairs to perk myself some coffee. The most difficult thing I've found with my situation is that I can't see everything that is happening so I could only sit and think about what should be happening at that second but now that I have my babies. I could even hack into the NPA and any computer within its walls if I wished to. The only problem with that thought is, if I made one slip they would notice and their firewalls alone would probably alert them of someone using their back door. This means L's computer at this time is off-limits. Pulling down a coffee mug I open my hot chocolate mix and instant mocha. Dipping three teaspoons of each into my cup and finally pouring in the hot coffee. Stirring it before putting the spoon in the sink I walk back up to my computer room and set down. Taking a sip of my coffee and closing my eyes to it's delicious chocolaty goodness.

With the agent having started to follow Light, today should be the day he gets his results I just hope I've timed everything out perfectly. Sighing I switch over to the right computer setting up a shadow link to even Mr. Yagami's computer, I would like to see how both of their minds work with this one little problem. Seeing the pentagram show up on my left computer I smile. "Light's home." I say to myself as I set back in my chair thinking about what's going to happen next. Honestly, so I know fully what happens I could spend a bit more and make sure every hotel in the Kanto region is covered. It would take up my middle computer yes but, if I have become a suspect I can be sure that my computers will be well searched which means At this time I should just keep up with doing things that won't leave any traces. If I were to be hacked I can be certain that the hacker wouldn't get too far but if I end up with cameras as well around my house I can be sure they'll at least check my computer while I'm away. Of course, that would mean after the taps are done with I'll have to take them apart again to make sure there are no taps on the computer itself.

My phone rings causing me shift my position from having been setting in Indian style so my feet are now touching the floor. Pulling off my backpack I reach into it and grab my phone. "I bet it's Light" I say with a giggle before answering it. "Hello?"

"Hey, it's Light."

"Hey what's up?"

"I didn't wake you did I?"

"No, I've been up."

"Good, will you meet me at the bus stop to space land?"

"Sure. I'll get ready"

Hanging up my phone I put it back in the bag with a smile. Yes, in the anime he chose some girl from his class but this time he chose me. A part of me began to wonder if this was the start of a turn of events that could end up changing others but I hope that isn't the case. Clearing my computer of the files and making sure there was no trace left of what I had been doing. I get up grabbing my bag and walking into my bedroom. A date so date clothes would be necessary. From all the anime I have watched girls wear skirts on dates so my slacks wouldn't cut it. Sighing, I change into a baby blue mini skirt to go with my white sweater. Putting on heels, at first I stumbled. "These things aren't easy to walk in." I tell myself as I take a few practice runs around my room until I am sure I can walk in them at least. Walking from the house I figure I should get there first rather then walking with him since he did say for me to meet him at the bus stop. Looping my thumbs around the straps of my backpack I close my eyes to bring up the mental picture of the route I would be taking.
Once I get there I stand in front of the bench waiting. My hair blowing gently in the breeze from having been left down. I get to see Light. The thought brings a smile to the open. Looking in the direction he would be coming my smile brightens seeing him. Raising my arm just like the girl in the anime had I giggle. "Light!"

"Sorry, did I keep you waiting?" He asks closing his eyes for a moment. I'm sure he was worried if I would follow along well.

"No, not at all." I tell him in a chipper voice. Running to his side I link my arm with his smiling up at him. "anyway I haven't been to space land before so I'm really excited and the best part is I have you all to myself."

"Uhh yeah." He says turning with me still clinging to his arm and walking a smile permanently attached to my face. Stopping at where the bus will he looks down at me with a smile dropping his voice a little bit. "You know you're pretty good at acting."

Giggling I smile up at him. "Thank you." The bus stopping in front of us allows us to get on walking to the second seat from the back on the right side. I slide in taking the window seat already knowing he needs to be on the outside. Watching the agent follow in and set behind us I tuck my hair behind my ears out of my face. "I don't get it Light, didn't you say you weren't going out until entrance exams were over?"

"That was before I scored number 1 on the national practice exams."

"Eww, you're such a nerd." I poke fun at him giggling. The ride fell silent so I laid my head on his shoulder closing my eyes. Yeah, I was here as a cover for his plan but it didn't mean that I couldn't actually enjoy myself. Keeping my eyes closed, I wish for these last few precious moments to last. When the bus stops I open my eyes hiding a smile I wish I could show. Setting up I look to the front as the criminal walks in. Feeling my heart pounding with excitement I do my best not to show it. Looking out the window I put on a normal face for a girl that's going out with her boyfriend. The bright smile reaching my eyes as I try to seem oblivious to what is going to happen. Hearing the clicking of the gun my eyes widen. Naturally. Bringing my gaze to the front with the criminal holding the gun. "Stay in your seats unless you want to die!" Giving a scared look I clench my hands in my lap trembling from excitement letting out little terrified noises to go along with my act. "Everybody shut up! If anybody moves I'm putting a bullet in their head!" Closing my eyes acting as if I'm trying to keep quiet when really I am. I am so excited I can barely contain myself. This is unlike anything I have ever experienced before! A perfect way to alleviate me from my lonely existence. "Alright driver I know you've got the number for space land's office on ya, call them!"

" .. Okay...Thi..this is Sasaki calling from bus 174."

"Tell them what's going on and no tricks either"

"My bus has been hijacked, and he's.. holding a gun to my head."

"Give me that." The hijacker takes the phone from the driver and puts it to his ear. "You heard what he said, Now you listen up, have a female staff member bring all of space land's cash from yesterday, I know it's there! Have her meet us two bus stops from the park, and don't make me wait, if you mess with me at all or try and get the police involved I swear I'll kill every one of these passengers!' He ripped the cord from the wall then steps on the receiver. Feeling Light touch my thigh I open my eyes and look at him then to his note. It's written in Kanji but he knew I would know what it says anyway.

Kira, don't be scared, as soon as he turns around I'm going to grab the gun out of his hand.

"Don't be stupid that's risky. If it comes to that I'll handle it." Light acts like he is going to write another note. "It's okay we don't have to pass notes back and forth as long as we keep it down he won't be able to hear our voices over the sound of the engine." watching Light crumple up the piece of paper and put it into his pocket with the pen I keep up my scared girl tactic.

"Do you have any proof you're not his accomplice why should we trust you?"

The agent takes in a breath as if he hadn't expected Light to point that out. "Accomplice?" I ask quietly adding a quiver to my voice.

"Yes, I've read about this before, the first hijacker comes in as if he's working alone meanwhile a second pretends to be a hostage and stays in the very back in case something goes wrong." Bringing my left hand to my lips shaking in a portrayed fear. "What's the matter?" He drops his voice more to ask.

"Do you... Really think he is one?"

"Here's my proof take a look." Ray says handing his I.D to Light. Inside I was laughing guessing I did a great job.

Light gives a short intake of breath looking at the I.D. making it seem like he was surprised. Handing it back after a brief short-lived smile before hiding it again. "I trust you, and I guess for the time being I won't ask you what an FBI agent is doing on this bus. Do you have a gun?"

"Yea, I've got one."

"So if it comes down to it I can rely on you right?"

"Yes"

"Shut the hell up you old Hag do you want me to shoot ya right here and now?!" The jacker pipes up and I flinch in response. "I said shut up!" Hearing the sound of a paper falling I look to Light my eyes wide. Watching as he goes to pick it up. "Don't move you little punk!" Light looks up at him completely calm as he tries to reach it. "What the hell is that smart ass?" the jacker moves to him and picks up the piece of the death notepaper. A smile finally emerges through my acting looking down I let my hair cover my slip. "You guys were planning something back here weren't ya." There was a pause as I heard the paper being unfolded. Clenching my shaking fists my smile grows. I can't wait! My adrenaline is pumping from the fear filling this bus and how everyone believes all this is real. Forcing back a snicker I fight to at least keep quiet. "Plans for a date huh. Stupid kid" Lifting my head just enough to watch the hijacker through slits in my hair I see his fear. It's true and genuine causing me to shake even more. The predator within me wanting to lunge forward and take him down. It was becoming nearly unbearable. "Who the hell are you!" he shouts. "You in the very back what do you think you're doing? Don't mess with me! How long you been hiding back there?" Yes he was seeing Ryuk but my sights were set on the hijacker my throat tightens and a fire erupts sending pain through my body. The hunger, the wish to kill. Hearing Ray yells for everyone to get down then Light's arms around me to help me. Did he know what was going on with me? Lowering his head to mine he would look as if he was protecting his girlfriend.

"Kira" he whispers trying to break through the madness that was rising. "It will be over soon Kira, just hang on." Reaching my hand to his arm I grip hold of his jacket to try and regain myself. Hearing gunshots I nearly growl in response but I fight myself. Did he think I was actually afraid? Or does he know what a scared and week prey does to a hunter?

"Stop the bus! Let me off!" the bus swerved throwing me more into Light, his warmth bringing me back even as I hear the squeal of tires.

"Stay here" Light whispers standing and going towards the front of the bus to see his dead criminal. I look out the window seeing the blood on the ground the gnawing at my throat and the burning desire threatening to take me completely into the madness. Finally able to stand I walk to the entrance after I saw Ray Pember run from the scene. Coming up behind Light I reach out and grab his coat between my right thumb and pointer finger. He looks back at me then slips his arm around me my eyes trained on the blood. "Let's go." He says walking me away from the accident.

"I'm sorry" I whisper to him as we get far enough away from it the stench of spilled blood wasn't as thick.

"Don't be. I should have known how you would react to it all. I'm sorry if I scared you."

Shaking my head I lean into him. "I'm not scared. It was… the predator within me trying to act out of control." He pauses hearing my words.

"Let's go home then." Silently agreeing I walk with him to my house.
