Chapter 5

Over the past week, I've been successfully sneaking in and out of Light's room on the days he doesn't visit me. We've been growing closer yet still in the times that we have nothing of use to talk about we end up making out for hours until the sun comes up. Today makes the second day since Ray Pember's death. And the last two days I've taken a break from my search of how to get home and had begun learning Kanji. If anything I would like to go to school. Maybe take the entrance exam to get into Toho with Light when he goes. But in order for that, I need to learn the language so I can at least understand what is written on the tests. Glancing up from my papers and looking out the window I see Light walking with a black bag in his hand. Smiling I set the lessons on the coffee table and hurriedly put on my shoes and jacket. Today I was wearing the white pinstripe black slacks with a light grey off-the-shoulder sweater. My coat was a tanish white with fur lining the inside. Stepping outside I lock my door before running to catch up to him. "Light!" I holler so I wouldn't have to push myself. Since the bus jacking my energy has been left depleted and with me refusing to take from Light, my speed and swiftness have also taken a turn for the worst. He pauses and looks back at me giving me a gentle smile.

"Kira." He says as I catch up but then he switches hands with the bag and takes a hold of my own careful not to squeeze too hard. His hands were huge compared to mine. Why hadn't I noticed this before? They were soft yet strong. The warmth makes sure my own hand doesn't get cold. "What are you doing?" He asks looking ahead of him.

"I saw you walk past and since the past two days I haven't seen you I wanted to walk with you to take that change of clothes to Mr. Yagami." His breath catches almost as if I surprised him that I knew before he continued on like normal.

"I see so you know."

"Yes, also this is when you will meet Ray Pember's fiancé'.. Just so you know."

"I see, when will I run into her?"

"At the reception desk in the station. But don't worry you'll figure things out and come out on top." I tell him showing him that I won't give anything else away. Come to find out I was quite enjoying playing this little game with him. He gently squeezes my hand causing me to smile.

"So what have you been up to these past couple days?" Looking up at him I silently question whether if he was worried or just curious.

"I've been trying to learn Kanji so that maybe I can get into a college around here." It would be easier if it was like math or any other curricular, but it's a completely new language to me that requires a complex analysis on top of a good memory. Memorizing each stroke of the symbols too, one wrong line or an extra swirl in my writing like what I usually tend to do, it could change the meaning of the symbol completely. No, I need to make absolutely certain that I remember every aspect of the kanji. "If you need I can help you"

"Thanks, Light, but right now I'd like you to focus on your objectives for the most part. Things will only get harder from here on out."

"I don't suppose you'll let me in on what is coming huh."

"Not exactly but so you know, if any girl tries to take you from me.." I look ahead narrowing my eyes as he pulls out his phone to try and call his dad. "I'll kill her in the worst way imaginable."

"The jealous type huh, funny I never pegged you for it."

"I'm only jealous with you Light."

"I know, I've been finding myself thinking if a guy were to flirt with you, that is punishable by death." Hanging up his phone he frowns putting it back into his pocket.

"His phone's turned off huh."

"Yeah."

"Then that means he's working out of a hotel room right now with L and the last few remaining task force members. Which means from here on out you won't be able to get information from your dad's computer regarding the case."

His steps falter as he looks at me. Stopping as well I look up knowing what was going through his mind. "You really do know a lot about what's going on. Sometimes it still catches me off guard."

"I know, I'm sorry." I manage to utter out as I avert my eyes from him and nip at my bottom lip. "Your thought process really is different isn't it." He smirks playfully. "Apologizing for something that you don't need to be sorry for. Thinking about others before yourself."

I shrug letting go of his hand as we walk in front of the station. "When we go in. Don't call me by my name. If you like you can use the secondary name my parents thought about calling me." I mention looking up at him. "What's that?"

"Kiara" I inform him causing a look of confusion to cross his features for a moment. "That's really close to your name."

"I know it's just an extra syllable but still it's better than Kira when walking into the police department." I point out for him before looking back towards the police station.

"True." With a smile, he walks in ahead of me and I follow. Biting on my bottom lip I think about the anime with everything that has happened and how things are going. L would be at the Tato hotel right now. On the tenth floor. But the room number was never specified and I am only guessing the floor since I am unsure of how many basement levels there are. Judging from the height of the view of the room in the anime 10 is a plausible number but if there are no basement floors then it would be 11. "A number of FBI agents were just killed and a lot of detectives just quit the case because they are afraid of Kira. So he's pretty busy right now."

"Uhh Light, it's probably better if you don't discuss this with.." The male receptionist says and Light looks down momentarily.

"True but it's practically common knowledge at this point. Besides I feel like I can almost trust her, you can almost see it in her eyes. She's a wise and careful person." He looks to Naomi. "You heard about what happened, and figured out the police must have had a leak of some kind, and that's why you wanted to tell them in person you thought this through... Well, am I right?" She just gives a little gasp as I lean against a wall watching them walk out. Yes, it's best I don't go. Besides if he does end up failing unlike in the anime I could always just kill her myself. With that thought, I feel the burning intensify. Bending forward I try to catch my breath and work through the pain.

"Hey, are you alright?" one of the two male receptionists came running over to me. They were about to touch me when I brush their hands away.

" S. Sorry... I... don't like to be touched." I tell him struggling to speak. "I'll… fine. It..will... in a minute." Standing straight when I regain my breath but keeping my head lowered so my bangs were in my face covering my eyes from their sight. "I just came to see if I can speak with Detective Yagami. But I overheard what you said. So I guess I'll come back later.." Going to take a step it felt as if my world darkened and the next thing I knew I was being held by the receptionist. This isn't good, I have to get out of here! I yell at myself in my head trying to get my body to move the way I wish it to.

"Call an ambulance!" He yells at the other receptionist.

"No, I'm fine." I snap at him keeping my eyes hidden. Pushing from him I manage to stagger out of the building. Leaning against the wall outside I slide down it until I am sitting hunched over on the sidewalk. This action causes the contents of my backpack to dig into my back. Covering my face with my hands I try to gather myself over this relentless need. Digging a fang into my bottom lip I run my tongue down the side of my mouth to catch the sweet taste.

Looking up as I felt something cold land on me I close my eyes letting the snowfall upon my all too hot skin. I lost track of the time. I thought as I go to stand, nearly falling back onto the ground but, still managing to reach my feet and lean against the building. Letting the snow cool me down. Clear my thoughts. Yes, if mom was able to do this growing up I can too. My body is going through the withdrawals of not having blood as often as I am used to. Back at home, there was always a supply of blood packets for when I wanted them but here... It's either bite someone or do without. Wait, what am I talking about? Earlier I was talking so nonchalantly about killing someone but yet, I don't even want to bite anyone? What sense does that make? "Hey, are you alright?" I heard a familiar voice ask. Closing my eyes I picture Shuichi Aizawa with his afro and tan suit. Opening my eyes I see him through the slits of my hair, he looked concerned.

"Yes, I'm alright. I guess I should be going so I am not just hanging around out here. My apologies for the inconvenience." With a roll of my shoulders, I push away from the wall and walk away from him. Passing Naomi Misora as I do. Walking up to Light who was smiling I tug on the arm of his jacket to tell him we should go. Walking with him back to his house we travel in silence. As always after completing a plot like this he was quiet as if reflecting on what he had just done. Yet as his hand reached for mine it barely grazes my hand before my body throbs with that same painful heat. This time feeling as if a searing hot blade was sliding right through my chest. Stumbling I gasp as everything phases in and out of focus. Before I knew it I was in his arms. One at my knees and the other resting behind my shoulders. Closing my eyes I finally feel like I don't have to fight so hard. This is Light. The only one I have ever truly cared about. Not even my parents who I spent my life trying to make proud just so that they would give me something as simple as a smile holds a place in my heart. Feeling him shift me a bit as he digs into my pocket for my house keys I just rest in his arms. I'm just so tired. Laying my head against his chest everything seems to fade away followed by a sweet dream. One that may never come to pass of us living together so there was no more sneaking around. No one was chasing him, all we had and needed were each other. His smile at the table covered in a dinner I cooked for him lit my world. The same smile I wish would never fade from him. Rolling over I realize I was no longer in Light's arms, setting up abruptly only sent my world to spinning.

"Kira." I heard his voice. Turning my head more slowly this time I see him leaning against the wall just at the side of my bed. Opening my mouth I went to speak but the pain slammed back into me with a fury. Being shoved back down he was now on top of me with his right leg between my legs and his left just on the other side of my leg. His hands are upon the bed on either side of me as he leans forward. I realize his jacket and shirt were missing. He was topless. Raising my right hand I run my fingertips from his chest to his cheek before finally brushing the hair from his eyes. "You shouldn't push yourself so hard. If you are correct, cameras will be placed in my house and possibly your own soon. Soon you won't have the ability to do what you need and with you, already in this state it will be impossible for you to not lash out at an innocent." He spoke his eyes soft and warm luring me into his gaze as if being placed under a trance. Feeling his left arm beneath me he lifts me closer to him. Slowly as if he knew my world was already on the verge of spinning out of control. Feeling his cheek brush against mine I open my mouth instinctively.

He was right, soon we will be under surveillance which means this is my only chance. If I keep fighting myself I will only end up putting him in danger. Wrapping my arms around him to keep me close I sink my fangs into his neck with a need I had never felt before. He flinches beneath my hold but gives no complaint as his sweet warm delicate blood flows into my mouth. Drinking as if I had never sated my thirst before, bringing me to closing my eyes a growl escapes from the depths of my chest. I unhinge my fangs and shove him onto the bed next to me, and throwing myself on top of him all in the same movement. Lowering myself I sink my fangs back into his neck where I had just been biting this time achieving a whimper of pain from him. But his arms still seemed to move around me caressing my body that had already been set aflame. "K...Kira" He breathes, his word broken. Pulling from him with wide eyes I couldn't believe I had lost myself to the blood lust. He was smiling up to me but he was weak. He still manages to raise his hand and brush the blood from my chin as he had the last time he let me feed from him.

"Oh my god, Light I'm so sorry I didn't mean to take so much."

"It's fine. I'm just a bit dizzy from the loss. I will be alright." Nodding to him as he pulls me close to him with my head on his chest. I feel his lips brush over my hair bringing a smile through my worry. "Do you feel better?"

"Yes, I am strong again. Thank you, Light."

"Anytime"

"When you go home. Tell your mom I'll be by for supper for possibly the next week. When really, I'll be there nearly the whole time." I speak softly running a finger along the bare flesh of his chest raising goosebumps over his skin.

After he heads home I watch him down the street as he walks into his house. Smiling seeing he got home safely I walk into my house and lock the door. From having fed so much I wasn't even the least bit hungry. All food is really, just a deterrent from feeding like I just did from Light. Touching my lips I sigh. I can still feel his flesh against them. Walking up to my computer room I look at the screens. I had hacked my way to Mr. Yagami's cell phone so even if he were to get a text or a call I would get it. Plus the function that the governments seem to have taken a liking to proved to be a plus as well. His signal was coming from the Tato hotel still. Which was good, it means that L hasn't changed hotels yet and probably won't until shortly before setting up the cameras and wiretaps. This way I can keep an eye on the secret locations without having to worry about it. Especially from having fed this very same link through my Ipad. Any time and anywhere I can check on the location of Mr. Yagami.

Turning I go ahead and walk into my bedroom finding my backpack that Light had set beside the bed for me. Picking it up I go back to my computer desk and set down with my legs in Indian style as usual. Pulling out my diary case and my pencil bag along with the keys I had placed on a necklace. I set my bag on the floor next to my chair. Retrieving a blue mechanical pencil and unlocking the case. Setting it on the desk I unlock my diary and flip to the next free page. Every night before bed I always write in my diary excluding the nights I spend with Light. I have found that it is an effective way to be able to straighten out my thoughts so I can think more clearly. I don't carry it around with me because I'm afraid of something picking the lock. Simple barriers similar to the one dad uses on his office door prevent that. No, I keep it with me so I can write my thoughts at any time and anywhere. Finishing writing about what happened today including the emotions I felt when Light held me I move on to explain what I am doing right now.

Since I got here I haven't just set back and relaxed. When I'm not searching for a way home. Which, I am beginning to doubt there is a way or even if I want to find a way. I am either hacking on my computer to try and get a more detailed look at what was going on so I can plan accordingly or trying to learn Kanji. I knew without a doubt that if I could just learn the Japanese writing style I would have no problem passing the entrance exam. And of course, since I am not of this world I had to pay a good amount of money to have someone forge myself a birth certificate. Giving myself the same birthday but at a more suitable year since Death note is based off of 2007, a year that my mother was the same age, I am now. So of course that wouldn't work. My new year of birth was 1989. Sadly as I play out the dates in my mind my birthday falls on the same day that the cameras will be installed.

The days passed with me sneaking into Light's room on a nightly basis and joining them for dinner by sneaking out and walking through the front door. By his mother and sister's eyes, I would be just coming around long enough for dinner then going home but in actuality, once dinner was done I would slip back into Light's room. But for the sake of keeping an eye on his father, I haven't been staying the night with him every night besides he needed to be able to focus on his studies while I crept ever closer to fully understanding Kanji. I can now write complete sentences but I have found that there are a number of ways Kanji can be used to mean different things. On that objective, I am inching ever closer to my goal of taking the test with Light. Nearly positive my house wouldn't be bugged until after I present myself under the cameras in Light's house I was spending my time removing anything that has to do with anything illegal I've put on my computer. Returning to its nearly new state except for my usual anime and games. As I am finishing up the doorbell rings. I wait a little bit to see if it rings again. Something I've begun doing. If someone really needs to see me there would only be about a minute delay then the doorbell would ring again. When it didn't I get up from my computer turning it off as I got to the top of my steps to see a piece of paper on the floor just in front of the door.

Walking down I pick it up and look at it. Smiling when I see it's a receipt purchasing a dirty magazine. Yes, this was Light telling me the cameras were finally in place. Going into the kitchen I turn on my stove holding the receipt just enough that it would warm up the paper and turn it black. There was no way I was just going to throw it away for anyone to see. Besides buying something like that is personal to quite a few people. Tossing the now black paper into the trash can, I walk upstairs to my room. Today I've been wearing one of my favorites. My bleach jeans and my red bikini. But in order to go over to the Yagami household, I would need an overshirt. One that would be appropriate to wear in front of his family. Pulling out my black button-up shirt I check its length. It would successfully cover down to my thighs when it's buttoned. Shrugging it on I go back to my computer room and grab my bag. Making sure everything is in there before carrying it around in my right hand as I go from room to room. Killing time while making sure all lights are off, even though I never turn them on during the daytime. Finally, I pull on my coat making sure the middle button is in place to let less of the chilly air beneath it. I pull on my backpack and slip on my shoes. With the keys to my diary around my neck, I step out of the house and lock it.

The crescent moon was in the darkened sky as I stopped outside of Lights house. Leaping onto the fence then into the tree as usual I peak inside of Lights room seeing him looking through the magazine he had bought today. As he closes the book I leap onto his balcony. Given the strength, he had previously, the jump was quite easy. But I stayed there until he put the magazine away in an empty book on his shelf. Glancing at the door handle on the other side of his bedroom, I smile seeing it locked as usual. Sliding the glass door open I step inside and shut it quietly. Light stands and glances back at me with a smile as I set my backpack on the floor next to his bed. Smiling in return I unhook the one button on my coat and slide it off as I walk to his closet and hang it up. Knowing the cameras would have a full view of my unbuttoned overshirt and my small red bikini top. If they had searched the bag in his closet this would give them an explanation why there is female clothing in it.

Turning I gasp as Light grabs my hips pivoting me so my back was now against the wall. Wrapping my arms loosely over his shoulders I tilt my head as he places gentle kisses on my neck sending shivers through me. And as his lips reach my ear his hot breath flows around the flesh bringing rise to the more natural of urges I get around him. He didn't have to say anything. I already knew about the cameras and wiretaps. But he still breathed my name into my ear causing me to grip a hold of his shirt fabric at his shoulders. Then finally after such torturous seconds, his lips meet my own relentlessly kissing me as if he wished to devour me. Feeling his hands move from my hips to my rear he cups my lower cheeks lifting my feet from the ground. Instinctively I wrap my legs around his waist as he carries me to his bed. Laying me gently down with him on top, his lips moving feverishly from my own and down my neck. A show for the camera I know but it still brought the heat to boiling in my lower stomach. Moving my right hand to the back of his head I entangle my fingers in his hair as his lips trace my collar bone.

*L* (I know I've never gone to his perspective before this but I'd like to try it. If it turns out alright I just may switch to him more often)

I'm sitting in the armchair with my feet on the edge of it and my knees against my chest as was my usual posture. "I can't believe my son is looking at those magazines!" Yagami growls as if he hadn't expected this of his son. My eyes were glued to the screen there was something about all of this that just didn't add up. Why go to such great lengths to hide something in your room and nearly automatically locking the door as you enter? It can't just be because of this magazine. No, that's what he wants us to think.

"It's normal for a 17-year-old but it seems contrived. It's too obvious that the only reason why he didn't want anyone in his room is because he had these magazines? That's what he wants us to think."

"Hey that's my son that you're talking about are you honestly telling me that you suspect him?"

"I do suspect him, that is why I placed wiretaps and surveillance cameras in your home and the deputy director's house." Seeming as he finally accepted my reasoning Yagami looks back at the screen. Brushing my thumb across my bottom lip, I just don't get it though. What could he be hiding beyond those magazines? What more could there be? Watching as Light put the magazine in a fake book with others I still didn't get it.

"Oh, Light." Yagami said under his breath but then my eyes caught it.

"There's a shadow at the window." I point out to it just as Light was standing the sliding glass door opens and in walks a girl with nearly impossibly long black hair. Light turns smiling at her as she smiles back setting her book bag on the floor near his bed. "It's obvious from those reactions this isn't the first time that girl has been there." I say more towards myself.

"That is a girl that has been welcomed into the family. But I never would have thought they meet up like this. She seems so.. Polite and lives around etiquette."

"I see." Watching her she walks to the closet and hangs up her coat at first, all I saw was a long black shirt beneath her hair. "This would explain why there is female clothing in Light's closet." I tell him getting a look of shock from him. My own eyes widen when she closes the door and turns to Light, as he grabs her hips and pushes her against the wall next to the closet. Her arms seem to wrap around his shoulders as his head bows to her neck. "I know you don't want to hear this Yagami. But from those responses and actions, this isn't the first time for them in this type of intimate hold." Could this be what he tries to hide? That this girl appears in his room? Watching Light seems to pick her up as she wraps her legs around his waist he carries her to his bed and lays down with her. His hands now traveling along her body as he kisses down her neck.

"Oh, you two." Yagami's voice pops up. "Why hide your feelings for each other?"

"Maybe they feel you will disapprove. What is her name anyway?"

"Her name is Kira Lake."

"So her name is Kira. Am I supposed to think that is just coincidental?"

"I have already questioned her. She is a kind girl who couldn't hurt a fly, and has problems with her parents. She came to Japan on her own in hopes to live a normal teenage life."

"I see and where does she live?"

"Three houses down."

"Watari."

"Yes, I shall have the same surveillance set up in her home as well. I'll make arrangements to have it done immediately since she isn't home." Watari says as he hands me a plate of cake. In the meantime, something happens that causes the two on the screen to break apart. Both obviously breathing heavy and her shirt was left open giving us a complete view of her well-formed chest. Straightening their clothes out the girl gets up and brushes Light's hair straight with her fingers before going to the window and vanishing as she had appeared nearly an hour ago. Light finally composes himself as he goes to his door and leaves his room shutting the piece of paper in the door as he seems to do every time he exits his room. As he walks downstairs he pauses looking at the front door then opening it. The black-haired girl had returned having forgotten her coat up in Light's room and her shirt was now buttoned just enough to cover herself, she walks in and removes her shoes. After which Yagami's daughter comes running through the house and shoving her against the door in a hug. His wife comes to the doorway and smiles. "Your family really does seem to love her."

"She is like a daughter to my wife and myself and Sayu sees her as a big sister so naturally, she is family."

After the touching reunion, they all go into the family room. Light sets at the table and Kira sets across from him sitting on her chair in Indian style slipping her backpack off and setting it next to her acting as if what had just happened in his room never did. Yagami's wife sets the table and I notice the only one with an actual fork is Kira. "So why does everyone use chopsticks but not this girl?"

"She's from America and it seems she is all thumbs with chopsticks. She nearly went without eating one night just because she couldn't seem to get them to work even after Light showed her."

"She also sits in Indian style?"

"Yes, from what I've seen and from what Light tells me. She always sits like that."

"I see." Pulling my phone up to my ear I speak into it. "Hello Mr. Aizawa, are the Kitamura's watching television now?"

"Yes he's not home but the other four are watching while they eat dinner... It's channel 4."

Pulling my phone from my ear still watching the two seventeen-year-olds. "Watari please contact the broadcasters and have them play our message."

"Very well I understand."

Watching the video we both fell silent. If any of these two is the murderer Kira then they should at least be surprised by this or even show some emotion of being disgruntled.

"Huh? What's this? ICPO... They're saying that in response to the Kira murders Interpol has decided to dispatch a force of 1500 investigators to Japan. The investigators were drawn from law enforcement agencies from its member nation.. 1500 investigators? Whoa" Yagami's daughter both reads and responds to the broadcast. Light and this Kira girl just looked over towards her in silence. Both seem to be unfazed by it.

"The ICPO sure is stupid." Light says.

"My thoughts exactly Light." Kira responds causing Sayu to look at them.

"What do you guys mean?" She seems completely clueless.

"I mean there is no point in making this announcement." Kira piped in and Light smiles at her.

"If they are going to send all these people here to investigate shouldn't they keep it a secret?" Kira giggles.

"Even the FBI agents who were secretly investigating were killed by Kira, why would this be any different?" She finishes for him. Almost as if their thought processes are the same.

"If you ask me this is a desperate attempt to shock Kira." Light continues

"In the hopes that he'll reveal himself somehow." And Kira follows

"Quite frankly I wouldn't be surprised if Kira sees right through this."

Chuckling as I watch the two of them pushing my thumb up into my top lip. "This is the same trick L used last time."

"You're son's clever, as is that Kira girl aren't they?"

"Well, yes." Yagami responds to my question looking at me as if worried that his response will cause me to suspect his son or the girl even more. Light then goes to the cupboard saying thanks for dinner and grabs out a bag of potato chips. Claiming it is just a late-night snack for studying. Meanwhile, Kira is standing up and putting her bag back over her shoulders preparing to leave saying she has studying to do as well and thanking Yagami's wife for the meal. Light and her walk from the room stopping at the door. "Bye!" she calls going outside after sliding on her shoes.

"I wonder what is with that bag of hers?"

"It was her mom's growing up. She says having it makes her feel closer to her since the relationship with her parents is so empty."

"What do you mean empty?"

"They are important people in their companies and are caught up with their duties as she says. She has rarely seen them and they are always too busy to even call her on her birthdays."

"Sounds lonely"

"Yes, she cries whenever family is brought up. With me just saying that I hope she begins to see me as a father figure made her break down crying from how happy she was to hear someone wishes to be a parent to her." Light is back up in his room setting down and doing his homework.

"After dinner, your son just goes back to studying without turning on the TV or his computer?"

"It's because the entrance exams are five days away." Really? Studying so hard just for the entrance exams? He seems bright enough that he really shouldn't have to study every free minute he has. No, he just seems too perfect in this. Seeing the sliding glass door open again Kira walks back into his room her black shirt unbuttoned as I was beginning to feel was her true self. Hiding behind clothes respectfully in front of his family but looking relaxed and completely comfortable in front of Light. Her outfit would be more meant for the summer days yet it was anything but.

"Are all of her clothes like that?"

"Well I don't get to see her often but my wife says every time she comes over she is always wearing lightweight clothes and her overshirts are barely ever buttoned showing spaghetti string tank tops underneath. She seems to think from watching her compared to the clothes we had loaned her that she hates clothes that cover too much almost as if she feels constricted by them."

"I see." She goes to Light's bed setting her book bag on the floor at her feet before opening it. Showing it full of books, cases and things in bags. Pulling out papers and a binder along with what looked like a pencil bag she sets in Indian style again flipping through the papers. The words. -Easy how to Kanji- on top. "So she doesn't know Kanji?"

"I guess it stumps her. I only ever hear her speak or write in English."

"Ryuzaki.." Watari comes back in.

"Yes, what is it Watari?"

"A few minutes ago a bank clerk being questioned on suspicion of embezzlement and a purse snatcher being held in a detention center were broadcast on the news, they both just died of sudden inexplicable heart attacks."
Yagami stands watching Watari. "It's him again"

"While all that was happening at your home your wife and daughter were watching television when it was over they turned the TV off and didn't watch anything afterward. From just past 7:30 until now 11 o clock your son has done nothing but study. And Miss Kira has been working on her Kanji. The Murderer Kira needs a name and a face without those he can't kill so I suppose anyone who didn't watch the news can't be the Kira we're after right?"

"You said it yourself that means my family has been cleared!"

"It doesn't make sense that Kira would kill two petty criminals that was right after their identities were broadcast. I know it's only the first day after the cameras were installed but the Yagami household seems almost too innocent to me beyond your son's and the girl Kira's extracurricular activities." pushing my thumb up into my top lip again I wonder what is giving me this feeling that the Kira we are after is indeed one of them. After a bit, the girl sets her stuff on the bed and gets up walking over to Light. Letting him read one of the problems to her in English she smiles and spouts off the correct answer without even having to think about it. Light just seems to look up at her wide-eyed. "You never even study how did you.."

"Know?" She finishes with a giggle before closing his books and turning off his light. Grabbing his hand she leads him to the sliding glass window next to his bed so they were both illuminated in the light. "H. hey I need to study!" Light halfheartedly complains about her actions.

"I know but too much studying and your brain will never allow the information to sink in besides.." She pauses raising up on her toes and kissing him. "It's my turn." She said with a smile. Before they began another session of kissing while holding each other in the moonlight. At midnight they seem to pull away and Light looks down at her, hooking her chin with his finger and raising her gaze to look at him.

"What's wrong? It seems something has been on your mind today" Really? How could he tell if that was the case, all I've noticed is that she seems completely enthralled by him and happy to just be in his presence so how would he come to that conclusion.

She steps from his touch looking down and if I wasn't mistaken a tear glistens in the moonlight down her cheek. Was he really spot on? "I know I shouldn't have expected it or even hoped for it... But, my parents didn't call today."

"What's the difference between today and any other day?" Light asks completely clueless.

"Well, it's just… Today I'm 18." Her birthday?!

"Wow, why didn't you tell me? I would have gotten a birthday present and we could have celebrated it properly?" He says stepping back up to her and catching her before she can step away again.

"I didn't realize it until I ran the dates through my head." Didn't realize her own birthday? What sort of upbringing did she have?

"Then tomorrow we will definitely celebrate. I'll make the plans for it then come by your place and pick you up. So.." He raises her gaze to him again and bends forward until their lips were almost touching. "Wait for me at your house so I can find you alright." He spoke softly before kissing her again. After another fifteen-minute make-out session, they crawl into bed cuddling as they go to sleep.

"They even tend to spend the night together? I guess it does make sense and all with her having a bag of spare clothes there." more towards morning Yagami goes home and goes to bed as I sit there watching the video. Sometime in their sleep, Kira kicks her blankets off of herself and the moon just seems to shine upon her half-naked form. She was indeed a beautiful girl even as she sleeps there is something about her that just makes people care for her. Like an innocence that people wish to preserve even though judging by her and Light's actions that night she wasn't as innocent as she seems but it all seems to wash away as I look at her. She's beautiful, smart, sweet, and I can guess fun-loving. As the day comes I watch as Light gets up leaving her in bed as he grabs his waist basket and carries it down to the trash bag his mom is holding. Meanwhile from his disappearance, she gets up and goes to the closet pulling out a change of clothes. Changing into a light skirt and a white off-the-shoulder sweater further proves what Yagami said last night about guessing she didn't like clothes that would feel restraining. Nothing she wore the night before covered her shoulders except for her shirt and when she wasn't downstairs eating with his family she left it open. Her long black hair fanned out around her form almost wildly as she tossed the bag onto Light's bed and pulled out her coat. Carrying it with her to the bed she opens her bag and pulls out a brush before walking out onto the balcony as she brushes her hair.

As she does so Light comes back into the room locking the door behind him, seeing her out there he stands next to her leaning on the railing. Could his dirty little secret really be her? Before long Light leaves for school and she grabs her things seeming to just vanish from the balcony. How does she get up and down from that height? I wonder before I noticed the slight movement in the corner of the window. Tree leaves were blowing in the breeze showing a tree branch near his balcony. That's how! As the household was empty I switched to the screens Watari just set up showing Kira's house. It was clean and had furniture but completely void of anything else. No pictures, nothing lying around out of place. Almost as if no one actually lived there. Seeing her walk into her home she locks the door behind her. Taking her shoes off she goes to her kitchen and makes herself some coffee. I watch as she heaps Hot cocoa mix and mocha into the mug so there would be more chocolate than coffee. Filling her cup she stirs it then walks up to the empty room with the expensive computer equipment. Setting in Indian style at her computer she sets her bag next to her. She seemed to just stare at the multi-screens for a minute before clicking on the browser and starting an episode of Naruto. So that would explain why she has no TV in her house. It's because she doesn't watch TV she watches things on her computer.

The day passes by slowly as she doesn't seem to move from her spot. Mimicking the Japanese from the anime she is watching as if committing the language to memory. Around noon she clicks out of the anime and reaches into her bag pulling out a small device and hooking it to her computer before turning up the sound. Rock begins to blare as she gets up and dances to it in a rather erotic way. Hypnotizing my eyes so I couldn't seem to look away even if I wanted to. As female artists came on she sang along with them. Her voice matches her beauty, it is astounding. Of course, at this time I was so enthralled by her I didn't hear Yagami come into the room and sit next to me watching her as well. "I didn't think she could sing so well on top of everything else." He comments watching her. At 1:30 exactly she turns off her music and goes to her bedroom grabbing yet another change of clothes and going into the bathroom to shower. As I watched I felt my cheeks heat up for reasons I didn't know. She was just another suspect so why? Her hands run through her damp hair further wetting down the dark tendrils ever before they glide down her body. Trailing over her well-rounded breasts to her flat stomach, following the route of the water cascading down her form.

"She's perfect in every way. It's almost inhuman." I manage to speak up as a lump forms in my throat watching her lather herself with soap. The white suds moving from her hips, down between her legs, and gliding towards her feet.

"What do you mean?"

"Well she's clever, smart, sweet, beautiful, with a great voice, she's also limber and quite accurate. There is something about her that makes people want to help her or at least protect her, even care for her. Her house is perfectly kept without anything out of order or in the wrong place." Pointing at the screen with her bookshelf she hasn't even looked at yet. "Her books are even in alphabetical order. She is just too perfect."

"It does make you wonder what sort of upbringing she's had to get her into such a well-organized schedule."

"Yes, it does raise questions. And everything she is doing is definitely second nature. No pauses or hesitations. She's kept this schedule for years."

"Ryuzaki..."

"Yes?" I look away from the screen to make eye contact with Yagami, a part of me was thankful for his interruption while the other just wanted to watch her some more.

"This morning Light caught me outside. He wanted to know If I can be at home tonight for Kira's birthday. He really wants to throw her a celebration that attempts to ease the pain of all of her missed birthdays."

"I don't mind. You can leave here around let's say 4 or 5 either one you prefer."

"Thank you."
