Chapter 6
A few hours have passed since I got out of the shower; changed my clothes to a black mini skirt with blue trimming blue socks a matching blue tube top and another black overshirt. I pulled my hair up into pigtails leaving my bangs down and styled to form to my face rather than letting them cover my eyes. I put in my moon earrings and sat there in my living room in Indian style as usual fiddling with the keys around my neck as I memorize the pages of how to Kanji. As Light had requested I didn't go anywhere today and the sun was already starting to set. As I had moved around my house today, washing my clothes that were in my sleepover bag and making sure nothing was out of place, even washed my coffee cup and spoon. I had spotted some cameras since they weren't normally there and I had everything memorized in my house. L had placed video cameras and wiretaps sooner than I thought he would but it didn't matter.
I had already expected him to place them. I just needed to act like a human girl while they are watching. Inwardly sighing from the thought. This was going to be difficult. I don't know how normal girls act. All I know is what I've seen in various anime. Putting my right elbow on the arm of the chair I rest my chin in my hand after setting the papers neatly on the coffee table and making sure none of them were even the slightest bit crooked. Closing my eyes I smile thinking about what Light might have planned for today. Even though it was the day after my birthday I still feel a bit excited. A candlelit dinner? A club outing? A family get-together? A night for just the two of us? What could he have in mind?
The doorbell echoes through the house as I continue to sit there raising my head to look at the watch on my right wrist. Exactly sixty seconds later the doorbell sounds again. Standing I walk to the door and open it smiling seeing Light standing in front of me. "May I come in?" He asks politely and I take a step back letting him in through the door then locking it as I close it.
"So what do you have planned for tonight Light?" I ask him the curiosity finally piquing.
"Go pack an overnight bag, alright. You took the one you had at my house. I'm guessing to wash the clothes you had in it."
"Uh okay." I tell him running upstairs my long pigtails flowing behind me. Going into my room I pull out the bag I usually leave at his place and pack a few outfits into it so I can just leave it with him again. Going back downstairs I see him in the living room looking at my Kanji papers. Coming up behind him I wrap my arms around his waist pressing my face against his back. "Just the time you were at school felt like an eternity you know."
"I know, I thought the school day would never end." He says placing his hands on mine. Smiling I pull back from him letting him turn around where he cups my cheeks and presses his lips against mine. Softly and more caring than usual. Our usual kisses were always alight with the passion we felt for each other but never the love. Closing my eyes I drop my bag gripping hold of his coat as I return the loving kiss. What felt like too soon he pulls his lips back from me. "I love you, Kira." He speaks softly placing his forehead against my own. "One day I want to spend every waking minute with you in a place of our own." His words wash over me making me smile as I raise my hands to his that still rests on my cheeks. "Would it be selfish of me to say I don't want you to ever leave my side?" He asks and I know he meant about me returning to my world. Biting my bottom lip I try to decide how to respond.
"Light, I want the same. The only way I want to live is if I can keep us just like this forever." I admit to him my cheeks flaring from my confession inadvertently telling him I won't leave here without him. He steps back from me taking my hand letting me grab my bags and leading me to the door where he lets go long enough for me to put my coat and shoes on. Stepping out I lock my door. Walking hand in hand I smile up at him as we go to his house. The car was in the driveway for a change showing his dad was here. Then it's a family get-together. I giggle following him inside and setting my bags on the floor as I take my shoes and coat off. But when I went to grab my bags again Light takes my hand pulling me into the living area without them. There stood his family with smiles. His mom holding a cake lit with candles and my name on it. They must have looked into different types of cakes in the states because it looked like a German chocolate cake! Yum! "Happy birthday!" They shouted in unison causing me to smile from ear to ear. Giggling I look up at Light who still hadn't let go of my hand then to everyone else.
"Thank you!" I said with glee walking up to them with Light as his mom sets the cake down on the table.
"Make a wish and blow out the candles k!" Sayu says giggling. I felt like I was glowing as much as the candles. Never have I had a family get-together just for my birthday. Leaning over the table I close my eyes. Wishing this would never end. Taking a breath I blow out all the candles but one. Raising a brow I puff out my bottom lip before blowing that one out too. "Ooo Looks like Kira has a boyfriend!" Sayu sings. I stood up and looked at her curiously. "Don't tell me you never heard about how if a candle stays lit you have a special some.." Her eyes widen as she finally realizes Light was holding my hand. "Oh my god it's Light!" she squeals causing all of us to giggle. "Congrats guys!" Picking up the knife on the table I cut the cake into four sections of three as Mrs. Yagami pulls out the chocolate Ice cream. My eyes widen seeing it. They guessed everything perfectly. Chocolate is my weakness. Helping Mrs. Yagami dip the cake and ice cream I giggle watching everyone having a good time. Closing my eyes I smile. This is how it should be.
After devouring our plates I went to help Mrs. Yagami with them but she just brushed me aside saying she will get to them later. Linking my arm with Light's, I smile up at him. He glances down at me then lowers himself so his breath was on my ear. "Enjoying yourself?" Nodding yes, I hug him right before Mr. Yagami clears his throat. Stepping back from Light, I look to his dad who was smiling at us.
"Time for presents." He says holding a white box with a green ribbon out to me. "This is from my wife and myself" Glancing up at Light he gives me a nod. So I step up to slowly taking the box then holding it with one hand I open it. Within there is a wooden picture frame with carved stars and crescent moons on it. The very detail on the wood was beautiful and had my eyes widening as I trace my fingers along the carvings.
"Do you like it?" Mrs. Yagami asks suddenly now standing next to Light's dad. Setting the box down onto the table before I fling my arms around them. One arm for each of them.
"Thank you so much. It's beautiful." I tell them with a smile successfully getting a hug in return from them. Stepping back I was smiling happily already thinking about what type of picture I want to try and put into such a beautiful frame.
"You are welcome, sweetheart." Mr. Yagami says which causes me to beam more. He was treating me as if I really were his daughter! This alone would make for the best gift ever even if it's just for tonight. As time went on I opened up more presents. Sayu had gotten me a camera to help with filling the picture frame. I had received dresses, skirts, a stuffed puppy which is Totally adorable, cool-looking pens with stars for caps. All in all, presents you give to someone you don't really know what they like but stick with a theme or just something absolutely cute so you know the girl will like it. They weren't all that personal but the point was. I was actually celebrating my birthday with a family. That alone made everything perfect. I caught Mr. Yagami sitting at the table piled with gifts. Leaning over his chair and extending my arm out I snap a picture of the two of us. Forever freezing this feeling and his fatherly smile in a stilled image. Though so not to pick favorites I tugged both Sayu and Mrs. Yagami into one as well. It was Sayu's idea however to get Light and myself in a picture. Which felt awkward at first but when he wrapped his arms around me I soon felt myself melt in his hold. Clutching to his shirt I smile softly hearing the camera click. Only after we were sure the picture was done we pull apart slightly, as I look up into his eyes he peers down at me. I could already feel my cheeks burning with a blush knowing we were about to kiss. Oh Light, is this your present to me? Letting your family know about our relationship, so we no longer have to completely hide our feelings? If it is, I can't think of a better gift than what you have given me this night. It was then the light on the camera flashed again and Sayu squealed pulling us from our silent stare, successfully bringing the world back around us.
Light has just left to go to the -store- as I am sitting on the couch with Sayu, watching one of her shows while eating more cake. I was finally just starting to get into it when Mr. Yagami calls me to the table. Nearly frowning from having to get up I stand and skip over to him with a smile. "Yes, Mr. Yagami?" I ask looking over my gifts on the table at him with my hands folded in front of me.
"I have one last gift for you. But it is from someone I work with rather than myself. Knowing that, if you do not wish to accept it it's alright." Tilting my head slightly I raise my brow running through the images of those he works with, in my head before finally settling on a plausible two. Matsuda or L. If it's Matsu then it would probably be something adorable like a plushie but if it's L then there definitely could be a second meaning behind it. "I'll accept it Mr… I mean dad." I get a smile out of him from having just called him dad for the first time, as he hands me out a green box with a gold ribbon that would have been about the size of his palm. Taking it with a smile I trace my fingers along the ribbon taking note about the perfect bow before tugging on a ribbon end untying it. Letting the thin silk strand lay in my hand as I pull the top of the box off. My eyes widen seeing a small book inside it labeled. -Advanced Kanji- It's from L. I knew it the second I didn't see a cute plushie but this... Was so much better. Pulling out the book as I set the box down I open the front cover and on the inside scribbled in nearly neat writing were the words. -Kira, maybe this will help. Good luck with the entrance exams.- So he knew. He had already figured out why I was trying so hard to learn the style. Giggling I look to dad who was watching me with a bit worried expression. "Can you tell your co-worker I said thank you very much for such a great gift?" With that, he smiles kindly then nods as he answers.
"Yes."
After hugging him I pick up the ribbon with a smile. The gold shimmered beautifully in the light, reminding me of the stars in the sky or even the moon. The moon itself shines with a gorgeous gentle light with help from the sun. and on the nights of the new moon, the stars tend to hide as well as if refusing to shine for anyone but the moon. As I set there on Light's bed waiting for him that thought brings a smile to my lips. When Light is concerned I guess I am the stars and he is the moon. Giggling I stuff all of my gifts into my backpack except one. The Kanji book. Laying back I open it reading through the how-to pages and their examples committing all of them slowly to memory. Just a few days left until the entrance exams. I thought as I close the book. I hear Light's door click open then shut again. Setting the book beside me as he crawls over me on the bed with a smile. His lips nearly automatically find my neck and places sweet and gentle kisses on my flesh. Wrapping my arms around him smiling and tilting my head giving him more room on my neck to explore. As I feel his hands trail up my legs and slide under my top where his thumb flutters against the flesh of my stomach. I feel my cheeks begin to burn causing me to close my eyes.
"Happy birthday." He says in between kisses before sadly he gets up. His touch fades from my skin leaving it tingling in the aftermath. Setting up I look to him about to pout with his sudden departure until I come face to face with a small white jewelry box with a light blue ribbon over the top of it. My eyes widening I look up to his encouraging face before taking it and pulling the ribbon free. Tucking the ribbon into my backpack with the gold one before I trace the felt of the box with my fingers. Opening it my eyes widen as I see a moon pendant with a silverback. Picking it up I take notice of the lack of a chain for it and just turn the pendant in my fingers. It looked like a full moon from the front that would light up the sky and even force the darkest of shadows away. A moon, as his name is written. Feeling his breath on my ear again my cheeks darken as I feel as if from all the warm feelings I have for him were going to burst. "Now, the world will know you are mine." His claim only touched me more as I put the pendent back into the box and closing it, before wrapping my arms around him again. Pressing my lips to his wanting all of my feelings for him to show in this one touch.
*L*
As she traced her fingers along the ribbon of my box I couldn't help but hold my breath. Why I got her a gift I didn't quite understand. She is a suspect, one I feel with more of a chance than Yagami's son. She's just too perfect. Yet as I sit here and see the genuine smile that appears as she looks at the book, I felt my heart pound. I could nearly see the gears spinning in her head as she tries to come up with an idea of who gave her the gift but as she read my message she giggles happily before looking to Yagami. "Can you tell your co-worker I said thank you very much for such a great gift?" With that, he smiles kindly then nods as he answers.
"Yes"
After giving him a hug that I would have probably received if I would or could have given the gift to her myself, she looks at the ribbon smiling almost as if she treasured it more than the gift itself. So she likes the simple things. I thought to myself as I brush my bottom lip with my thumb. Interesting. Talking with the family a little bit more she still looks at the ribbon in her hand. Thinking about something I couldn't even begin to fathom. Shortly after Yagami leaves to come back here she gathers up her gifts and leaves the room. Stopping by the door to grab her bags before going up to Light's room. She puts her things gently into her bag but keeps out my gift as she lays down reading it. This fact of how she kept only my gift out seemed to touch a piece of me I didn't know even existed. Watching her Yagami sets down next to me without a word. He knew it was unnecessary to relay the message that I already heard. Light still hasn't returned and it made me wonder what he could be doing and wish that we had the manpower to follow him and watch what he does when he disappears. She just seemed completely focused but then suddenly she closes the book and set it next to her as if she knew when Light would return. It was timed nearly too perfectly since Light walks into the room at that exact moment.
Locking the door he crawls on top of her as she wraps her arms around him with his head at her neck. I watch as his hands move along her body and under her shirt. Finding I was now curious how far they actually have gone. Shaking my head to get rid of the thought I continue to watch as they stay like this for a few minutes before Light suddenly pulls away and stands. She sets up, her bottom lip poking out until Light holds a small white box out for her. Watching as she puts the ribbon in her bag as if it was worthy of being saved, she opens the box viewing what looks to be a pendant, which she pulls out and moves around in her fingers. Light leans forward as if kissing her cheek the words he speaks so quiet I almost thought the taps wouldn't pick him up. "Now, the world will know you are mine." He staked his claim for her causing Yagami's eyes to widen but she didn't seem phased by it. She just put the pendant back into the box before putting her arms around him again. She kisses him in a way that made my stomach feel like it was turning. How could just a simple kiss I've witnessed them do lots of times already and it only being the second day, cause this reaction as if it was somehow different than the others?
Tonight was the same as the night before. Criminals were still dying even though the surveillances were up. Could the murderer Kira really not be one of these people? No, everything still seems to be timed too perfectly. This Kira, could she really be the murderer we all have thought to be a guy? With everything I have witnessed it would make sense. She runs her life on a well-kept schedule and times all of her actions too perfectly for things to happen only by chance. She is indeed smart. Would that make Light her unsuspecting pawn? Or is Kira not working alone? No, it is plainly obvious that the one we are after does work alone. Everything the Kira we are after, up until now, has been too precise and too planned for it to be even done by a duo. The Kira we are after would use others to prove their innocence without hesitation. Could this girl really be Kira? In the end, all of this is just speculation. The surveillance has proven that Kira can kill without doing anything outwardly suspicious. Taking a cup of tea from Watari, I put in four cubes of sugar before taking a sip. Its sugary texture just didn't seem enough to me so I begin placing more cubes. I'll give the cameras one more day but if evidence does not present itself then I'm going to have to find a way to get close to Kira. The only way that seems possible is through Yagami's son. One thing is certain. Research on this girl is a must. "Watari"
"Yes Ryuzaki"
"Pull up all of the records on Kira Lake, I want to know everything about her there is to know."
"Right away"
"You suspect her now?" Yagami asks as if he, himself at one point hadn't felt the least bit of suspicion towards her.
"I do suspect her, it is why I have also placed cameras and wiretaps throughout her house as well."
"Oh" he mumbles silently looking down.
"Mr. Yagami. Tell me everything you know about her."
*Kira*
After having slipped out of the Yagami household the day seemed to go on as it usually ever did anymore. I went further into the city and went window shopping thinking about my next plan. Making my way into Aoyama, making sure I find note blue, I continue walking looking at the surroundings. Stopping in front of a little café I smile. This is it. Walking around again I map out every route into this area seeing a plan in my head. As the sun began to set I pull my phone from my bag and send Light a text.
Kira: Meet me tomorrow at the usual meet-up at around 4.
With this Light, himself would know to meet me at my house but if L were looking at it he would be desperately trying to find places of business in the area where we will meet. Smiling I put my phone up and make my way back to my house. This is the last night with the cameras. Tomorrow will be perfect.
The night seemed to go by slowly as I just sit on my armchair in Indian style with my bag on the floor next to me lost in thought. How much will I need to tell Light to be able to pull off my plan? Sitting there I run through every possible outcome of my plan, and finally, feel content with the way things should turn out. Tonight is the last night of the cameras and there is still one more full day until the exams. Watching the sunrise I get up and go into the kitchen fixing myself some of my usual coffee. Sitting back down with it I sip the steaming hot contents watching the sun peek through my window. Ideally, if L is beginning to suspect me more than Light he would still try and use Light to get closer to me. Let's face it, I don't give him much of an opportunity to get near me enough for me to trust him. The past couple of days I've shown him that even though I put myself around the Yagami family there is only one member I am truly myself with, keeping the others at a distance. Which would lead him to think that even if he were to confront me rather than Light, I still wouldn't let him close enough for him to learn what he wants to. That he would have to use Light to even get me to be around him. Yes, that way he would have his two main suspects in one shot. In fact, I have no doubt that is what he would do.
Taking my cup to the sink I wash it and place it in the drainer before grabbing my bag off the floor and walking out of the house making sure to lock it behind me. I have to give them time to remove the wiretaps and cameras which means I have to purposefully put myself out of the house. After walking around a bit and even stopping at a nearby store, I make my way to the park bench I know that Light will be at. I smile as the bench comes into view and there is Light and Ryuk, as Light is feeding him the apple. Walking up to him I set next to him, startling him at my sudden appearance.
"I thought we were going to meet at your house today?" he asks as Ryuk eats the core of the apple.
"I sent you that message so you'd know I wanted to talk to you and would expect me to find you." I tell him leaning back on the bench. During my walking around I had picked up a notebook so if the taps in his house haven't been removed we could still talk by use of writing. Let's face it. There is still a possibility L would like to listen in. "Let's head to your place Light." I tell him standing and taking his hand in mine with a smile.
"Uhh... Yeah." He answers me standing as well. Of course, he doesn't know that the cameras have been removed so he's curious as to why I would say go to his place. As we walk I keep my attention ahead of us in silence as I roll through what I had decided. "Ryuk, check the house for the cameras." Light tells him as we reach the front yard. Ryuk fazes inside before we even reach the door. Walking on up to his bedroom Light sits at his desk as I set in Indian style on his bed in silence with my eyes closed.
"Hey Light, I just checked and all of the cameras have been removed!" Ryuk says as I imagine him up at the ceiling looking down at Light. Hearing the chair move I know Light has stood, and was now going downstairs to get him an apple. Yes, just as planned. Pulling the notebook I had just bought out. I bring out my pink and black pencil bag and grab two ballpoint pens. Opening the notebook on my lap and uncapping the blue pen leaving the black on the bed next to me, I write Light's name to catch his attention. Opening my eyes I stand grabbing the other pen and walking up beside him at his desk when he returns. Setting the black pen and the notebook on the desk in front of him. Momentarily he smiles at this already knowing I knew all along that the cameras were going to be gone.
-What is it?- He writes to me then slides the notebook in front of me. Nearly giggling I write out my message to him.
Kira -Light, I feel I should tell you some of what is to come and my thoughts on it.-
Light -Alright, you have my attention-
Kira -Okay, first during the freshmen orientation A guy will tell you that he is L. It will be an attack and defending move at the same time. But that is not what bothers me.-
Light -Then what is the occurrence that is bothering you?-
Kira -Soon you will be requested to join the task force as a way for L to either get close to you or use you to get close to me. A second Kira will present themselves. I already have a plan of how to deal with them.-
Light -A second Kira?-
Kira -Yes, you will figure out more when the time comes but what I need you to do is lone me a page or two of the death note, and when I give you the signal loan me Ryuk. The second Kira will want to meet you. But, they will meet me instead. Using a page of the death note and of course Ryuk I will pass off as the Kira they are hoping to meet.-
Light -And if I tell you no?-
Kira -Please just trust me Light. This will give you too many problems that is inevitably one of the hugest problems that gets you caught.-
Light -You mean the part of the second season you said you don't like.-
Kira -Never mind that. Just do as I say for now, please. I know I said ultimately I will let you decide but I want to do this. Remember I can't be killed by conventional means. This will prove it to you. Whereas you end up having to do stuff that you really shouldn't just so you don't get killed.-
Light -Alright, do you need me to do anything else?-
Kira -The day will come when you find you have to go to Aoyama, I want you to take the south entrance into the area. I will come by the north. You see, this second Kira has the shinigami eyes. In the anime, you believe if you put yourself around a group of people they won't be able to tell who you are.-
Light -Sounds like a plan I'd come up with.-
Kira -But what Ryuk hasn't told you is that with the shinigami eyes, you cant see the lifespan of another person with a death note. Since we both have death notes the second Kira will see me and feel content. I will be the one to put myself where they can see me. I want you to refrain from it. Got it?-
Light -Yeah I think I understand.-
Kira -Alright. The night of Aoyama I want Ryuk to be at my place. He shouldn't mind. He'll get to witness what's going on. It should pique his interest. But I want you to stay away from me at that time. We can text back and forth but I do not want them to see you otherwise this plan will go to waste.-
I watch as he nods to me before putting his pen down and pulling me into his lap. Dropping my own pen in the process I wrap my arms loosely around his neck with a giggle before lightly brushing my lips against his cheek. "I love you Light" With my plan, I'll prove to you I can be of more use to you without being harmed. Also as of yesterday, Toho should have received all of the paperwork regarding my admittance request. Of course, I had to forge records of schooling and stuff but still. At least Dad had told me of how to find black markets in the big cities so I could get things like this done. Rather than him replying to me. Light lets his lips do the talking as he kisses me like there would be no tomorrow.
*The next morning*
Having come home last night so Light could actually do some studying rather than be too occupied with me or passing notes. I ripped the pages we used from the notebook and burned them so no one would know of the conversations we were having. Pulling my hair up into two buns on both sides of my head I grab my bag and walk from my home. Stopping in front of the Yagami household as I hear his mother's voice. "Light hurry up you don't want to be late." Seeing Light walk from the house followed by his mom and sister he smiles seeing me waiting for him. "Do your best you two!" She roots for us as I give her a smile.
"I know you don't need it but good luck!" Sayu yells her input with her hands near her face around her mouth to make her voice louder.
Light glances back to them on his way out of the gate to meet me. "I really don't see why you two are making such a big deal out of this." Giggling I start walking knowing he'll catch up. "Do you mind if we take the train?" He asks me as he looks down towards me. My thumbs loop around the straps of my bag.
Yes, I'm nervous but that can only be expected. Locomotives. Something I'm not used to. "I don't mind Light it's just.." I look down nipping at my bottom lip.
"Don't tell me you've never ridden on a train before." Shaking my head in response I feel his hand lightly grip my right arm, pulling my hand away from the strap of my bag, before his fingers intertwine with mine. Looking up at him he gives me a reassuring smile. "Don't worry, everything will be fine I promise."
Sitting next to him on the train I close my eyes feeling my heart pounding in my chest. Personally, I would have preferred just walking but if we did that we really would be late. "I'm relieved we don't have to deal with wiretaps in the house anymore." Ryuk says as I gently squeeze Light's hand. Absentmindedly letting him know how nervous I am at the moment. He squeezes mine in return as his response, easing my anxiety a little bit. I thought the train ride would never end. But as we walk side by side I feel the stress fading from me as if being erased. Walking with my eyes still closed I let Light lead me to where we need to go. I'm confident that telling Light what I had will put the pressure off of him. Once we get into the university he will have more time to act as Kira. To top it off we will also have more time to spend together. Of course, our schedules for before and after classes will clash a bit but in the end. I can only see us growing closer.
"You there! The exam will be starting in ten minutes so you better hurry up!" The campus security guy standing in the booth at the entrance to the campus calls out to us.
Finally opening my eyes I let out a sigh. "Great we will have to wait." Light just chuckles at my comment.
"It's fine I planned to get here three minutes before the test, I hate waiting. We're here too early." Giggling I watch the guy's reaction to us, as I let go of Light's hand and loop my thumb once again around my bag strap. Following Light as he puts his hand into his pants pocket.
"Well well, confident." Ryuk says and I just shrug. After spending all this time learning Kanji I only glanced at what was to be on the test itself. The easiness of this test had proven that I didn't need to study it. This was going to be overly boring but if I put my head in the game I'll be ranked up there with Light, so I don't have to spend too much time away from him. Walking into the classroom specified for the test we sit next to each other. Pencils were to be given out with the test itself so I didn't have to worry about digging through my bag. My only problem was, these chairs gave me little ability to set the way I like to. Once managing my usual Indian style sitting. I set my bag beneath me where my feet should go. Yes, keep it close by so no one decides to try and take off with it. Luckily Light was 119 and I was 118 so sitting next to each other was easy since students were set by numbers.
"Don't worry, you'll do fine." Light whispers and I smile seeing he had taken my silence as nerves.
"I know." I give him a confident giggle before the tests were handed out. First looking through the question pack then I glance at the answer sheet. Basic setup from the looks of it.
"You there! Student number 162! Sit properly in your chair." Seeing Light from the corner of my eye glance back at the student that was called on I nearly sigh pulling my legs closer so they wouldn't fall. "Student number 118! Sit properly in your chair as well." I wait and when he didn't say another thing about it, I hold my legs in place as I fill out the answer sheet from having memorized the questions that go to it. (If you haven't realized yet from little hints. She has a photographic memory) Setting my pencil down I close my eyes waiting for the time to be up. Sadly I only managed to kill seven minutes of the hour-long test. Turning my question packet and answer sheet upside down to signify I'm done. I set there counting the minutes boredly until finally, I hear. "Pencils Down!"
"That took forever." Light comments and I giggle.
"They should have just made it so that the students can leave as they get done with their tests so we wouldn't have been waiting nearly the entire hour." Hearing Light's chuckle I look at him as I grab my bag and stand walking out with him.
"I didn't expect you to be done so quickly. And you even seemed to take your time"
"Yeah, same with you"
"Tell me, did you even study at all?" my steps pause even though I feel like we are being watched. I look up at Light who was still looking at me curiously.
"Does glancing at the necessary information count?"
His eyes widen in disbelief. A common look he tends to give me. "How many times did you... Glance?"
"Once."
I start walking again with a sigh. They were going to send the results in the mail which means. I'll be stuck waiting to know what I already knew was going to happen. In the anime, there were only two people that ranked the highest. Perfect scores. I knew this time there were going to be three.
