Chapter 20

"Light are you alright?" Ryuzaki asks me, it was then I realized I was holding my breath. I couldn't answer him. I couldn't even find the words as my eyes stayed glued to the screen. Even after seeing that nothing had come of it. "Oh, thank goodness" Dad breathes in relief. As he leans forward against the steering wheel.

"Th. Thank goodness?" Kira asks as if she had been holding her breath. Forcing herself to sit forward in the seat. As Misa looks around the seat at my dad. "What's going on I don't understand."

"Please forgive me you two. I know that was hard on you but it was the only way I could get you out of prison. You must understand I only agreed to do this because I believe in your innocence, Kira. Were you watching Ryuzaki? I did exactly as you said and as you can see I am still alive." Dad says looking at the mirror. This catches Kira's attention as she looks at the mirror as well.

At some point, Aizawa and Matsui had come in and were standing behind us. I hadn't paid attention at all. I had no idea when they got here. Ryuzaki clicks on the microphone. "Yes, it was a convincing performance. If Amane were the second Kira who only needs to see a person's face to kill them. There is no doubt she would have killed you before you had the chance to fire your weapon. Also if Kira was in fact the one we are looking for the Kira I know wouldn't even hesitate to kill someone they see as their father to save their own life. With Kira in particular I cannot rule out the possibility that she may have seen through our act at some point however as agreed I will end their confinement immediately. And as discussed Amane will remain under surveillance until Kira is apprehended. Although she insists that the tapes we found were just occult videos. The physical evidence we have plus her confession suggests otherwise."

"Hey! No fair you still suspect me?!" I watch as Misa leans forward in her seat clearly upset. My dad turns around in his seat to look at her.

"If I were you I wouldn't complain. You get to go back to your normal life if you're innocent then the surveillance shouldn't be a threat to you. Think of it as complimentary police protection."

"Oh, I get it, since I'm not the second Kira it will be kind of like having my very own private bodyguards."

"As for your part in this agreement Kira. You and I will be together 24/7 and that's how we will remain until we've brought Thee Kira to justice."

"Wait don't I get a say in this? I told you when we first met I want nothing to do with this investigation."

"Didn't you'd say you would do anything to get to see Light again?" I watch as her eyes widen and she smiles. Falling silent. "Well since I hear no more complaints I'll see you all back at headquarters."

"Ryuzaki? What do you mean by together 24/7?"

"You'll see." He states before falling silent.

*Kira*

Upon entering the hotel room I run out of Mr. Yagami's arms nearly falling but I still manage to push myself to make it to Light. Who catches me before I end up nearly landing on my face. His scent automatically wafting over me. Flinging my arms around him I hold him close before pushing my lips against his in a kiss. It has been way too long! I feel as he holds me tightly as if afraid that he'll lose me again if he lets me go. Leaning my head against his chest I close my eyes moving my hands to his upper arms where I bunch his shirt into my fists. His arms... They feel better than I remember. I feel as he rests his cheek against the top of my head and I listen to his heartbeat taking in his warmth.

The pain kicking into my throat with all of its pent-up fury causes me to gasp. As if knowing what that meant Light pulls from me just enough to pull my hair down out of the buns and let it flow down naturally about my form. With my eyes still closed I feel him brushing my bangs down so they would flow over my face. How I love him! It was then I felt cold steel around my wrist and hearing a clicking sound follow. Sounding like a handcuff. Turning slightly as I feel Light's arm move around my waist to keep me close to him so I remain standing. I peek through the gaps in my hair seeing what I had hoped wouldn't happen. L and I were now handcuffed together the chain between the cuffs was long and nearly touching the floor. "Are you sure this is absolutely necessary Ryuzaki?" Light asks clearly not happy with the cuffs. I don't blame him. I'm completely upset over it.

"This is as difficult for me as it is for you." He says and I narrow my eyes behind my hair at him. Yeah right.

"So is this what you meant by being together 24/7 with her? Looking at you never would have guessed. But then again I guess I was right you are a pervert."

"I told you, I'm not doing this because I want to okay."

"But Kira belongs to Light! Besides she can't bathe around you and stuff! Also if you are with her 24/7 how are we supposed to have girl time?!"

"Oh you can still have your girl time, but it would have to be the three of us."

"No way! Are you telling me we've got to talk about private girl stuff in front of you?!"

"I'm not telling you to do anything but, yes I suppose I would be listening."

"That's so gross! You really are a pervert aren't you?"

"Kira, please make Misa stop talking now." He actually whines.

"Listen Misa that's enough. If anyone should be complaining it's me. Plus the police already established that it was you that sent those tapes so you are lucky to even be here right now. They have every right to keep you in prison."

"Huh? How could you even say that to me? In case you forgot I'm your best friend. You should be on my side!"

"Look, the law is the law. They have evidence on you by all rights you should still be in prison. As for me!" I look to L. "You have absolutely no evidence on me or even probable cause, you have no right to handcuff yourself to me! You are just breaking the law more than what you already have!"

"What are you saying? Don't you trust me?!" Misa asks me.

"What are you talking about? I barely even know you."

"Speaking about all of this I was curious. You said that you and Kira met at some café you just decided to go to. Right."

"Yes."

"What did it look like?"

"It was cool with dividers and plants and stuff making it real homey." Misa says and I roll my eyes.

"It's Light's and my favorite Café" I explain.

"Sounds like the one I took you to Ryuzaki." Light explains further.

"Oh, so Misa why did you choose a place so far from home?"

"I. I don't know."

"So you don't remember why you were there but somehow you met Kira and knew instantly what her name was and approached her."

"Yes, so?"

"Tell me Misa how would you feel if you found out that the Kira targeting criminals and Kira Lake were actually one in the same?"

"That'd be wonderful, I mean I've always been grateful to Kira for punishing the man who murdered my parents so if I found out that Kira was actually Thee Kira that would be like a bonus for me. If anything it would make me want to be there for her even more! Even though that's practically impossible!"

"It's Kira though you'd feel more drawn to her for that? And wouldn't you be afraid? What if she tried to kill you?"

"You're talking about my best friend being Kira, she wouldn't be scary at all. I'm a supporter of Kira so if I found out My Kira was actually Thee Kira I'd find out how I could be helpful." She went to hug me and Light helps me dodge her sending a giggle through me. L was just glaring at Misa right now and I was internally counting down the time until she is tossed out of the room.

"That's very generous of you, but I'm pretty sure Kira doesn't need your help. Well, Misa based on what you just told me. There can be no mistake that you are the second Kira. But you've made it so painfully obvious I don't even want to believe it."

"Whatever it's not believable because I'm not the second Kira okay!" She childishly sticks her tongue out at L as I watch her start trying to hide behind Light. When she reached out to take a hold of his other arm my eyes narrow, spinning faster around him than I probably should have and bringing my hand into contact with her cheek. At the echoing sound, I felt eyes on me as everyone just seemed to look at me. Misa rubs her reddened cheek with her eyes wide. "What was that for?" She asks in nearly a whisper.

"You're getting too loud and too annoying, And Don't you ever touch Light." I sling my arms around him causing L to take a couple of steps closer as I nuzzle my cheek against his chest. "He's mine so you shouldn't have even tried to cling to him like that." She fell quiet, looking as if she was about to cry.

"Anyway... You will still be under surveillance if you do go out when needed you will be able to contact us by using this room's extension. For the most part, your life will return to normal but for now, on all private and work-related affairs, Mr. Matsuda will be accompanying you as your new manager Matsui. Your agency has been paid to keep quiet so please don't blow his cover."

"This old guy is my manager? Oh, you can't be serious!"

"Don't say that! What's wrong with me Misa Misa is it the tie because I can get.." Matsuda was cut off by Aizawa suddenly groaning loudly before shooting to his feet slamming his hands on the coffee table and glaring at Misa.

"Will you just cut it out already with this pervert, girl time, and Misa Misa talk already! This is the Kira investigation stop messing around!"

"S. Sorry about that Aizawa" Matsuda says raising a hand to the back of his head. Everyone was either as shocked if not more shocked than what they had been when I had smacked Misa.

"No it's alright, I just figured out what the problem is." He stands straight walking around the coffee table and up to Misa. "Misa Amane, it's time for you to go to your room." He says sternly point in the direction of her room as if he is talking to a child. I nearly giggle.

"Why?" She hollers as he grabs her and shoves her towards her door.

"Out you go." Aizawa sings. She slips off of in front of him trying to bolt back in but he catches her and throws her out of the room.

"Kira! Let's have a sleepover even if it's the three of us!" She says as she pokes her head through the door. Aizawa shoves her back out before slamming the door closed.

"So.. Kira, are you serious about being friends with her?"

"No way, she's too much of an airhead for me."

L turns around to look at me. "Then could you at least pretend to be serious for the sake of the investigation? There are two things I know about Amane for sure. One that she's involved in this and two, that she harbors an unnaturally strong devotion to you."

"Why would I put myself through the headache? Like I said I'm not a part of this investigation. And I still see no reason why we absolutely have to be handcuffed together or why I can't just go home."

"This is the main reason why I agreed to release the two of you. So that you can get Intel. For me about what Misa Amane knows."

"Doesn't matter, as of right now what you are doing to me is still against the law." I look at the actual police in the room. "Are you seriously going to just let him get away with breaking more laws?" When they didn't say anything I look to Mr. Yagami. "Dad? You can't seriously expect me to be alright with this, I'm a girl and he's a guy!"

"Honestly if it completely clears your name I can't say anything against it. But do know Ryuzaki. If you try anything funny or don't remove the cuffs so she can shower and what not I will be automatically against it."

"You don't have to worry I was already planning that."

"And when I sleep. I can't sleep next to him."

"Why not? It's not like you haven't slept next to a guy before."

"That's Light so it's different."

"I agree Ryuzaki." Light finally speaks up. "I don't want you in the same bed as her either."

"I'm sorry but until we catch the real Kira or until I am completely convinced that she isn't the real Kira this is how it's going to be."

"Doesn't mean I have to like it. By the way, do you think we can think of a better system with moving from hotel to hotel every few days?" Light asks.

"Actually, I had that same thought some time ago." Ryuzaki walks over to the computer dragging me along too. I could hear Light rushing to catch up as I try to stay on my feet. "So I arranged for a facility to be built. Construction started right after my first meeting with Mr. Yagami and the others." He sets down on the chair as Light grabs a hold of me again. "It should be finished in a few days." He begins clicking away on the keyboard. "Where... Oh, here it is." He brings up the file showing the building everyone gasps looking at it. "23 floors above ground and 2 below. Although it's impossible to see from the outside, there are two helicopters hidden on the roof."

"What? That's amazing." Light says as I just lean into him.

"Ideally I want all of us to spend as much time here as possible. If the investigation team grows we can accommodate up to sixty people. Misa shouldn't have any complaints since she'll have her own floor."

"This is truly impressive, to go to such lengths."

"Hold on a second, where did you find the finances to build this thing?" Matsuda asks.

"As you can see, it is my intention to solve this thing no matter what it takes. That's how it is"

"I'm sorry but how is that an answer?" I hear Aizawa ask.

"No, he's right the mass killings are bad enough already. But personally, I will never forgive Kira for putting Kira, my dad, and I through this. I want to solve this no matter what it takes."

"If you're serious about that then you should be okay with me being cuffed to Kira and get her to help us by joining the investigation."

"I can't she is the one I want to spend the rest of my life with so naturally I don't want another guy around her. And also it goes against my principles to use a woman's emotions to benefit myself."

"Right, what a shame."

Aizawa chuckles and Mr. Yagami makes a sound of questioning at him. "Uh, nothing I'm just feeling really motivated right now chief." That's a lie. "Ryuzaki, Chief yagami, Light. Let's get out of here and bring Kira to justice ha."

"E. Excuse me I couldn't help but notice you missed my name." Matsuda points out and I roll my eyes. Tugging on Light's shirt I get him to look down at me.

"Light could you ask L if he could uncuff me so I can lay down? I mean I can barely stand and I don't want to make him have to leave the room for the night when their work isn't done yet."

"So you are already trying to get out of the handcuffs. Why not lay on the floor or have Light pull you up a chair?" L asks looking at the computer.

"Ryuzaki, she can barely stand she needs to rest. I have to agree with her and she's trying to be nice to not interrupt you."

"Alright, I'll remove the handcuffs for tonight but she needs to get her strength back because it won't be happening again."

I smile then playfully pat his head. "Thank you, L."

"Do call me Ryuzaki here."

"Uhh alright, Ryuzaki." He looks at me actually giving me a makeshift smile before un-cuffing us. Light picks me up in his arms with one arm at the back of my knees and the other behind my shoulder. This suite had two bedrooms so he took me into the one that I was guessing was for him. Shutting the door with his foot behind us he goes to the bed and lays me down before laying next to me.

The next I hear is his hushed whisper. "In the dark like this, we should be fine. As Ryuzaki said you need to get stronger to keep up with him." A sigh escapes me understanding what he is getting at but before I could fight to push myself up on my knees I feel Light pulling me on top of him. I nearly giggle before kissing him. His hand snakes into my hair and grips hold of the tendrils as we do so. Causing me to shiver in memory of the last time we were in bed like this. He smiles against my lips before guiding me to his neck. "Here." He says but I didn't want to give in without a fight or something. Running my tongue along his neck I smirk in triumph at his sudden intake of air and his other hand moving around me resting at my hips. Slowly opening my mouth I try to gently sink my fangs into his neck. Hinging myself into his flesh. The second his blood seemed to flow down my throat a tingling sensation ran through my body. The strength he was giving me was slowly restoring what I had lost.

I continue to drink as Light runs his hand up my side gently caressing my form. If we were in any other place than a hotel suite with L and the others right outside the door. I have a sneaking feeling nothing would stop us from doing what I knew we both really wanted. Pulling my fangs from him after one last drink I lick his neck clean taking pride in the changes of his breathing and his grip tightening in my hair. Yes, we both definitely were wishing the same thing. It was then light flooded the room as the door was opened and I heard a throat being cleared. "You two." We break apart hearing Mr. Yagami's voice. I wipe my face clean making it look like I was drying my lips from a kiss before looking at him. Just from his two words, I watch L peeking around him. "Light you should come out now and let her get some rest." My cheeks flare up as Light sets up grabbing me and pulling me in for one last quick kiss.

"Maybe we can get away some other time." He whispers into my ear causing the heat to intensify in my cheeks. He looks at me with a smile, chuckling before walking out of the room. Sometimes I swear he makes me blush on purpose.
