"So all I have to do is feel out my energy and bring it to the surface?" I question looking at my cousin doubtfully. -could she at least be more specific?- She turned to face me in the clearing of trees within the park. She had prompted that we shouldn't do this indoors but she also wanted to make certain that no one was around to witness. She was being thorough even though it didn't exactly fit the personality I was beginning to believe was her own. She was a true definition of blond. When I had asked her on our way here about the articles pinned to the walls in the computer room she had honestly not given them a second thought of how to hide them.

"Yes, close your eyes. Feel the hum within your veins as you seek out your energy then push it outwards. Maybe you should focus on your hand. Move the hum to a hand then push it outwards." She corrected herself successfully confusing me more. Obviously seeing my confusion she continued. "Umm… Like this.." She spoke before closing her eyes and I watched her. "Find the hum... Then move it to a hand... Mine will be the left." I moved my gaze to the hand she signified and waited. Nothing was happening. I found myself shifting from one foot to another restlessly as I began to wonder if she was truly off her rocker or even knew what she was doing. "Then push it outwards." She mumbled just before I seen it. My eyes widen as I watch a faint pink glow surround her hand. Steadily growing to a more prominent shade of pink before suddenly disappearing as she opened her eyes to look at me. "Your turn."

"And what exactly is this supposed to teach me? Like what is the glow supposed to do?" I found myself asking as I close my eyes. I really did want to try it. I want to do it too even if it was useless.

"Moving your energy around and focusing enough to bring it to view in your hand you learn energy control. Not to mention with enough practice you can manipulate the energy you push outwards. It's how... Let's say... Someone can create fireballs or a light with healing attributes. With enough control, you could even use it as a protective shield." So... It wasn't completely useless. It was the first step of many.

"I understand."

-To give up ownership is the only way for the death note and the knowledge of it to be taken away. In order to make her give up ownership of it… I would have to put myself in a predicament she felt it would be necessary.- This is what I had thought. By now Misa should be on her way to the park to inform Kira of my... Problem.- Wincing at the uncomfortable feeling of being bound as the rope felt like it was cutting into my wrists. I had told Misa who I really am along with how she used to be the second Kira. But, Kira had made sure she lost her memories and ownership of her death note to get her out of the way. The look in Misa's eyes shown the betrayal stung and it made her even more determined to get her death note back. She won't fail. She may suck at acting but with any luck, once Kira hears of the circumstance she would be too upset to realize. Then again this is Kira I'm talking about. Opening my eyes I take in the darkness of the vacant warehouse that Misa and myself had found for this little scenario. If by some chance phase 1 didn't work then I had to make it believable… Meaning…

"Arota, blindfold the punk! If he somehow has his girlfriend's power then he could kill us if he sees us!" There was bustling in the darkness before I felt a cloth bag pulled over my eyes. -Yes, these goons would do anything to get the power to kill from Kira. Not just so they could use it but also... They were afraid of Kira. Afraid of the image I have created.-

"Boss, do you really think his girlfriend is Thee Kira?"

"Duh, we have proof that was offered by that bimbo blond! Even L believes she is the one which would explain the stupidity of punishing evildoers as if she was some kind of superhero. The creation of a world filled with peace and nothing wrong ever happens? Ha! It's totally the views of a female."

"Awesome Kira, you're doing it!" Aphrodite exclaimed causing me to open my eyes and look at my right hand. With my concentration not as prominent the blue glow seemed to dull a bit but lasted long enough for me to see it for myself. I couldn't help but smile. -I did it!- "And it only took you a few hours! That's amazing! Took our cousins and my siblings up to a full day or even more to accomplish this!" It was then I felt her arms around me in a hug as she squealed. The pitch itself was enough to cause a painful ringing in my ears.

"Kira!" I heard my name being called in a panicked gasp. Shoving out of Aphrodite's arms I turn around to see Misa with her right arm raised and her features distorted by something that caused her worry. I could hear her heart racing even before she stopped in front of me. -hmm... Take note, I can actually hear the muscle pounding in her chest-

"Woah, take a breath Misa. Calm down so you can tell me what's wrong." I instructed her as I brush her bangs from her face so I could see her eyes only then taking note of the perspiration that was matting her hair to her skin. -How long has she been running trying to find me?- Her eyes were wide and distraught. This... Is no trick. Even if Misa didn't absolutely suck at acting I would be able to tell if she was trying to fool me.

"Kira.." She sucked in a breath before tears began to flow from her eyes. "I met up with Light after school to see how you were doing and then.." She rambled fast, almost incoherently before trying to calm her quavering voice. "We got picked up by these goons who bound us after tossing us into the back of a van!"

"If that is so... How are you here?" I couldn't help myself but be skeptical and her eyes changed to a pleading gaze.

"They let me go to find you! They know your name is Kira and they said they have proof that you are actually Thee Kira. They said if you don't give them your power and give up being Kira they will…" She broke down covering her face as tears began spilling from her eyes. "They'll Kill Light!" She shouted beneath her hands. That one statement caused my heart to stop. No! I can't lose him! Feeling tears prick against my eyes I run to where my bag was laying on the grass before grabbing Misa's arm.

"Aphrodite! Go to task force headquarters. Tell them what's going on! Misa is going to lead me to these guys! I have to save Light!" I yelled the last part more to myself than any of the others. Misa seemed to get the idea since she began sprinting ahead of me to lead the way. Of course, I had to slow my movements in order to remain behind her. This was going to take far too long.

Finally reaching the warehouse district I grabbed a hold of Misa to drag her along with me. She had slowed down considerably and in my eyes, we didn't have the time for her to keel over from exhaustion. -I have to get to Light!- "Misa! Which one?!" I yelled at her as she was stumbling trying to keep up.

"Up ahead it's only two more doors down!" She gave a breathy shout. I let go of her to leave her behind but it seemed she had finally managed to get her legs to work right. She was pushing along right behind me. Images of Light's soft gaze as he looks upon me flashing through my head. Followed by the memories of everything we have done together. We have come so far. -How the hell did these guys find out about me!- I silently shouted at myself before settling the anger within me that had sent my veins to buzzing. I had over-exerted myself training today. Even if I could manage even one of the possibilities Aphrodite told me about it would push myself too far. I would be vulnerable. - "You're intake of blood is just like your mom's, She too the closer she became to fully awakening needed blood to replenish her energy. Even though she managed to train her body to accept blood from warmed raw steaks it still wasn't enough. She made herself weak, to the point she couldn't even muster a simple barrier or astral projection. Soon it became not even enough to sustain her body. The more you use your energy the more you will need to feed. You will need to set regiments for yourself to intake fresh blood after training or else... You won't even be able to manipulate your energy. You very well could fall into a coma if you try."-

Aphrodite's words rang loud and clear in my head. Her warning of what very well could happen to me. Shaking my head before yanking the doors open I found myself breathing heavily with an ache in my side. Proving how low my energy had been depleted just from training then pushing myself to run all the way here. On average, humans themselves use energy much like we do. Only they don't see it as power. They look at it as their normal bodily cycles. Eating for them does the same thing drinking blood does for me. Replenishes the nutrients that are burned off into energy. Taking in a breath I try and relax myself to further focus on the problem at hand. On shaky legs I walk into the dark warehouse, looping my thumbs around the straps of my backpack just to keep them from quivering. Not by fear but from how weak I was becoming. Reminding me of when I had been held in that cell by L just from waiting too long in between feedings. Yes, her words were more true to me now than they had been when she had initially given me that warning.

Setting in front of my computer, as usual, I couldn't help but think about Light's phone conversation with Misa the other night. Today should be the day he will be coming in claiming he had to walk Kiara home and apologizing that it had taken so long. I felt my stomach tighten and give a turn as if I was going to be sick. It has now been five hours since they got off of school. Nearing 8 o'clock at night and Light hasn't even stopped by. The other task force members had long halted the investigation as Mr. Yagami was now trying to call Light's phone. -Light, what are you doing? Only a few hours and your story would have been believable. This long and it definitely won't even pass with Mr. Yagami.-

Light wasn't answering and Mr. Yagami was now trying Light for the third time when Watari's voice chimed on my screen. "Ryuzaki, Kiara's cousin is here." I was about to tell him to let her in just from the confusion of why Damphire would be here when she came into the room. "My apologies Ryuzaki, she just ran through." Watari explained causing me to turn my chair so I may look at her. Like usual she seemed calm even though Watari had just said she literally ran through without giving Watari a reason or even waiting for him to get permission to let her in. Her sky blue eyes bolted between the other members before finally resting on me.

"Taskforce." She spoke again as if she had authority over us. Pausing as if to make sure she had all of our attention which was pointless. She knew she did. "Light has been abducted by criminals who believe Kiara is Kira. They released Misa Amane to retrieve Kiara. She is now on route to them and instructed me to report to the Taskforce with what is currently happening." She spoke level without even the slightest pitch to give away if she was worried or not. Her words caused intake of gasps throughout the room as she gave a timed pause for them. "Their wishes are, Kiara to give them Kira's power and step down as Kira, otherwise Light will die." She glanced around the room again before a smirk finally showed on her features briefly. -What is so funny about the threat to Light's life?- "As you know, Kiara does not have Kira's power. She is also weakened from training so if things go south she could very well end up in a critical state and Light's death. I do not know where Misa is leading her so I cannot inform you of where to go. This is truly a precarious situation." She nearly laughed before setting down at the computers next to me. The room was silent with the weight of her words as my eyes followed her. -Kiara is in danger, Light's life on the line. Her cousin doesn't know where to look or even how to help. She just followed Kiara's orders and came here to lay this weight on us… And it seems... She is enjoying every minute of this.- strange family.

"Ryuzaki!" Matsuda's voice echoed in the silent room as he ran up to me. "I have an idea, it could be why Kiara sent her cousin here!"

"Then out with it Matsuda." Mr. Yagami's voice barked up.

"Yes... And no need to shout." I spoke now looking to him.

"I didn't tell you before because Kiara had entrusted me with a secret. But, if we can use it to save her and Light then I believe she will forgive what I am about to say." He spoke rather quickly but it was obvious he was trying to calm down. -didn't mention this before?- The memory of the day Matsuda spent up in Kiara's room with her finally came to mind. Was he really about to tell us all what had actually happened?

"Out with it Matsuda!" Mr. Yagami practically yelled at him. Anger with Matsuda's sudden pause after saying so much is apparent in his tone. It was understandable, however. Right now he was torn between saving her and Light and protecting her secret for the off chance they do make it out alive on their own. She would be unhappy with him.

"Well, we could always use the tracking system installed in phones to locate their current position." He spoke raising his hand to the back of his head. Turning in my seat I found myself clicking onto Watari's line.

"Watari, get the GPS on Kiara's phone and bring it up as quickly as possible."

"Right away Ryuzaki." That is all he said before his screen flashed off of my computer.

"Matsuda.." I picked up my cup of coffee and raised it to my mouth. "While we are waiting could you tell me, how does Kiara have anything to do with tracking phones?" Matsuda gave a nervous laugh as all eyes of the task force were now upon him.

"Well, you see.." He began nervously before finally lowering his arm to his side, slightly slumping forward as if admitting defeat. "Kiara has been tracking both Kira and the Kira investigation since nearly the beginning. Since she knew the Chief was a part of the task force she tracked his phone's GPS leading to the hotel rooms we were in just before we turned off our phones. Doing so she could even track phone calls and text messages to and from Chief's phone..." So, she's kept tabs on us this whole time. How would she even have the authority to get something like that approved?

"How did she track his phone?" I ask ignoring Mr. Yagami's intake of surprise.

"Well uh... you see.." Matsuda looks away from us as if still internally fighting with himself about answering my question and revealing all he had learned from Kiara. "She's a hacker. She hacked into the computer company and routed her way to Chief's phone. She said it a little differently though but I can't remember all the technical words she used." So she's a hacker? Thinking about how information was being leaked by the police from the very beginning I could find little doubt that she had hacked into the files. "She said she only did it so she could guess where the investigation was going and interpret Kira's next actions."

"Yes.. she's said that." I comment remembering when I had confronted her with Matsuda and Light up in her room about withholding information. "What else did she do, in order to keep track of the investigation?" There had to be more than just watching where Mr. Yagami went and the few phone calls he made.

"Well.. she was able to deduce what hotel room we were going to move into from making a profile of previous rooms she seen you pick. From there apparently..." He pauses again looking down at the floor not wanting to meet the eyes of the task force or even my own. "She set up surveillance cameras and wiretaps throughout the hotel rooms that were most likely to be used by you. Since we never use the same hotel twice she would then go in and remove the taps and cameras from the other rooms then set up more in different hotels around the city all over again."

"So she's been watching and listening to our every move since the beginning. She knew she was being suspected which is why we never found anything in her home. As she knew whenever she was being tailed so she could pretend like nothing was suspicious about her... And you never once thought when she told you this that this information very well could be of use to us?" I ask him, narrowing my eyes upon Matsuda. If we would have known this it would have been more evidence against her to prove she is actually Kira... Turning back in my seat I face my computer screen before clicking on Watari's link to call him."

"Yes, Ryuzaki?" He asks. "I haven't yet located her GPS signal at this time. It will take a little longer.."

"Watari, when you are done will you double-check our layouts to make sure no one is spying on us?"

"Ryuzaki, I have made certain no one can hack into our system. It is virtually impossible..." Watari's voice pauses for a brief time.

"Unless what, Watari?"

"Unless someone were to establish a direct link into our system. Gadgets are available to government agencies to complete this task. So it is likely such devices would be available on the black market." He explains. A direct link? "I shall check our network boxes as soon as I have located Kiara." With that said his screen disappears as he cuts the call off. Could she really? If so then when... I found my eyes nearly widening towards my computer as I place my thumb against my bottom lip. It had to be on her sudden visitation! She hadn't even been gone for twenty-four hours. It was odd that she had decided to bring us all lunches... Was it actually... A cover for her real reason? First requesting to see me, then bringing lunches for everyone to make it seem like it wasn't weird that she only wanted to spend time with me. That gave her two possible motives which was meant to... Damn it, she purposefully caught me off guard and slipped her true agenda under enough covers she didn't believe I would think any further past... She was right.
