Chapter 51
Setting my bags on the bed in the latest hotel room I have gotten I look around at the tiny room. Compiled with a bed, table, two chairs, dresser, closet, sink, and bathroom. I felt myself sighing heavily. When I changed rooms I looked at my memories of the anime and what I would have done. With my hacking skills and knowledge of the anime, I would have pegged Lucien's rooms before he moved into them since he always chose suits. If someone is breaking into my rooms like I believe them to be then I need to start changing up where I am staying. It's probable since I stayed in a high-class hotel suite that they wouldn't expect me to find a lower-class hotel to stay in. Plus… Looking around again I felt my head hang low. This is definitely not a suite.
Falling back onto the bed I find myself sighing again. Last night I didn't go to the task force to see what was going on. I can only hope that nothing too important happened. Instead, I tracked down a Kin that could look me over. Paid an ungodly amount too. Just so he could tell me that beyond my still healing energy nothing is wrong. He suggested I lay off my headache medicine and relax. As I've not been sleeping well since I woke from my coma he believes it is hindering my healing. When I had questioned him about what creating something with my own power and then having it presumably destroyed would do to me. He was shocked. Told me that one if I had created it properly it couldn't be destroyed and two, if that indeed did happen it could be a long time before I'm back to my usual self.
Apparently, when creating something it bonds to the creator. Its very essence is mixed with the one who spent the energy to make it. Meaning as long as I am living it should still be there. However, since he stated I evidently didn't make it properly then I was lucky to have received as little damage as I did. A human would have died, but even a nonhuman being could very well still die from something like that happening. He has told me to rest. Meaning, I shouldn't go see the task force for a while. I was now torn between my duties and obeying the doctor. Scooting up further on the bed I lay my head down looking up at the pale cream ceiling. What should I do?
"Maybe I could rest and receive updates on the investigation." I say allowed to no one before reaching into the right pocket of my jeans and pulling out my phone. Opening it I scroll to the number I had placed in there recently once I had relocated it when I had searched through the task force information again. Bringing it up in text I close my eyes momentarily to decide what to say.
*Light*
Hearing my phone beep with a text I roll over in bed and reach groggily for the device that was resting on my nightstand. Once I closed my fingers around it I roll onto my back and look at the phone. "Unknown number?" I question before opening the message.
-Sorry I wasn't there last night. Something came up.-
Wasn't there? Something came up? Brushing my bangs out of my eyes I think about last night. Mulling through my sleep-filled thoughts before a pair of green eyes popped into my mind. Yawning I look at the phone again. Could it be her?
-Alessia?- I text before setting the phone on the bed next to me and raising my arms in a stretch before looking over in the direction of my clock. 7 a.m. huh. My phone beeps again suddenly, showing I had gotten a text back from whoever it was. They didn't seem to be as tired as I am right now. That's for sure. Picking my phone back up I open the message.
-Yes, sorry I didn't specify.- She's apologizing for not telling me? Weird girl. But then again…
-How did you get my number? I don't remember giving it to you.-
-I looked it up. Is that alright?- Looked it up? It's a cell phone. They don't post cell phone numbers in the phone book, right? Well, she did say she was the true successor to L so he probably either gave her my number, or She had Watari do his magic and get it from the phone company.
-Yes, it's alright.- I find myself responding to her. Why is she even messaging me? She could just come over. Then again if she is as much like L as I believe she is this could be a ploy.
-I didn't wake you did I?-
Yes. -Not at all. What's up?-
-Liar.- Was she playing around or... Does she really know that I just lied saying she didn't wake me up? She doesn't really seem like much of a person to joke around like that though.
-Maybe.-
Alessia: Definite yes.
Me: So why'd you text?
Alessia: To apologize for missing last night. Plus, I wanted to know if I missed anything.
Me: I knew you didn't just text to chit chat.
Alessia: What's that supposed to mean? Just because I'm mute doesn't mean I don't like to talk… Like this anyway.
I found myself smirking at her text. She is definitely a girl. I could only think if Misa was mute how insane she would drive me blowing up my phone. -Nothing, just thought you were a lot like L-
Alessia: Oh, yeah he doesn't talk much.
I found myself shaking my head as I got up to go into the bathroom. Sending her another text on my way. -No, he doesn't. He is more of a thinker I guess.-
Alessia: I could tell that too. He spends more time thinking rather than voicing his thoughts.
Setting my phone down I get into the shower to prepare for the day. When I got out I noticed my phone had yet another text message. -I guess the voices in his head keep him better company.- Actually laughing at her comment I shake my head.
-So, you do have a sense of humor- I respond to her before going into my room to get dressed.
Alessia: Yeah, but he's a good guy. I like him.
I found myself glaring at the phone in my hands as to why. I couldn't quite figure it out. She's not even mine I thought to myself. Unlike Kira was, this girl is my enemy. So why do I seem to care that she likes Ryuzaki? -You like him huh.- I found myself texting her. I just couldn't seem to stop myself from pressing send.
-Yes, I believe he is truly the first friend I have ever had.- Just as a friend then? I exhaled slowly before I dropped my phone onto the bed. What the hell… is wrong with me? Getting up I try to shake the emotions away from me as I get dressed. Not expecting my phone to beep again as it did. Looking towards my phone I see the screen was lit up so I knew I hadn't just imagined it. Shrugging off the urge to see what she said I finish getting dressed before settling back down on the edge of my bed to read the text. Though what was there I had a hard time comprehending. She was giving me her newest room number at a hotel. She must really be like Ryuzaki to change hotels like that. I found myself thinking before typing in the response.
-I'll see you there-

Upon reaching the hotel I couldn't believe she had chosen I walk through the small hallway towards the room she had specified in her text. If she actually chose this hotel… she is definitely running from something. I thought as I stop in front of her door and knock on it. There was some rustling inside just after my knock sounded. Seeming like she was situating the room before coming to the door… If she just got to this hotel what could she be situating? I heard a door close before I heard steps just inside the door of someone walking in my direction.
Seconds seem to tick past slowly before I even watched the door handle begin to turn. What is going on? I wonder silently before the door is pulled open and I come face to face with the sandy blond-haired girl. Wearing a tight white spaghetti string tank top and soft white and blue silk pajama shorts. Her long blond hair was left down without even the slightest thing done to keep her hair from her eyes. It was flowing freely past her shoulders and over her form. Her bangs however sifted neatly over her eyes. Stepping back out of the way so I could step in she bowed her head slightly as if she was looking towards the floor. Taking the hint I walk inside the small hotel room. What was she wearing? Is that what she wore to bed? Did she decide to nap while waiting for me? Honestly, I sort of pictured her wearing a t-shirt or a long-sleeved one and pants. This… though looks really good on her, doesn't seem like her style.
She however hovered around the door this time, long enough to click it shut behind me. Glancing back towards her I see her fasten the deadbolt and chain lock before even leaving the door. Something must have happened. I thought before I followed her to the small table and set in one of the two chairs noticing her pad was already setting in front of the other chair upon the table. She silently sets down before turning her attention to her pad. "What's going on Alessia?" I ask curiously as to what is wrong with her. The feeling about her isn't like what I have become used to for this smart emotional girl. There is usually a lightweight feeling unless she is deep in thought about something. But never is there a tension like this.
I see her fingers patter across the screen of the pad rapidly before she picks up her pad to show me what she had written. -I think someone broke into my hotel last night. So I changed hotels, even the criteria of what someone may think I would choose.- Oh, that's why she focused intently on making sure the door was completely locked. It could also be why she seems on edge.
"Why would you think someone broke into your hotel room?" I ask setting back in the uncomfortable chair so that I can try and mull things over properly. If someone did break into her hotel the question would be, why. Then the next would be... Are they threatening her? If they are then I could just sit back and watch as someone else eliminates my competition for me.
-There was a folder on my computer I didn't put there. It was a letter to me even telling me to look in my dresser drawer and grabs what's on the bottom of it. Though I found nothing.-
"So you think someone broke in to write you that note on your computer?" Is she crazy? She gives me a nod before looking back down at her pad and typing again.
-They didn't hack because my computer is always off and disconnected from the internet. There would be no way unless someone broke into my hotel and hacked through my password.- Oh I see.
"I may not know much about hacking but that seems right. I mean if you aren't connected to anything then they couldn't break into your computer unless they were there in person."
-Exactly-
"So.. What would you like me to do?"
-nothing except... Tell me what happened last night so I can keep up to date.- She really is a diligent worker. Even though she is paler today than usual. It could be from nerves with her room being broken into but... Is she ill?
*S*
Setting there I pull my right leg up into the chair as I was beginning to get used to sitting since my usual, Indian style, would be a total giveaway. I listened to what Light was telling me as I made the necessary notes on my pad. It does seem that I missed something critical last night when I went to that doctor but… At least I am able to get the details of what happened from Light. Even though he is Kira, it seems that he is really trying to help the investigation when it comes to this new Kira. He is truly wanting to find them. Probably to eliminate the threat. This is just like when The Second Kira had first shown up. This is why we say that he would have been compelled to intervene. Wanting to find The Second Kira before the police could. It is only natural I suppose. The wish to preserve what you have created.
Looking through the notes I have accumulated since this new Kira surfaced I found my eyes furrowing. "What's wrong Alessia? Did you notice something?" Light questions causing me to shrug before switching screens and writing step by step what has happened so far.
-L do you know, what isn't seen, and isn't heard, does not mean, it isn't real... Moon, star, god. Two Kira.- Reading it through again I couldn't help but fiddle with the findings a little. L do you know, what isn't seen, and isn't heard, does not mean, it isn't real. To Kira, moon, star God. Furrowing my brows some more I finally type something out for Light. -Wouldn't it be something if this is a letter?-
"What do you mean? How could it be a letter?" Light asks standing up and walking around to the back of my chair so he could see me playing with the evidence.
-To Kira. Moon, God, Star, L. Do you know what isn't seen and isn't heard, does not mean, it isn't real.- Sighing to myself I shake my head. -That doesn't sound right. It's still really cryptic. So I could be wrong.-
