Chapter 55
*S*
Walking to the front door with everyone else I could feel their heavy hearts. I myself knew somewhat how they felt. Only instead of being outsmarted by Kira, I had been beaten by myself. That was the only explanation as to how all of this happened. I took things into my own hands before losing my memories and made sure Light's will would be done. I couldn't think of anyone I had possibly found to replace Light or myself as Kira. Only one person was highly probable but according to everyone, she left this world.
Looking to the others and taking their extended hands they held out for me. Wishing them a silent farewell with a bow of my head. I could see in each of their eyes that their very souls were feeling this defeat. Could it really have been Aphrodite after all? If so it would explain why no one could catch Kira. She is my cousin. Someone who is like me. She wouldn't be found unless she wanted to be. Also, she knew how Light and I would judge others. She would know everything down to the smallest detail from her obedience to me. There would be no one else I could trust all of this to. But.. I had no proof. Without proof, it was only speculation and there was no way for me to find out.
"Alessia.." Light's gentle voice spoke up pulling me from my thoughts. Only to find that it was just him and I left in the apartment. Looking up into his eyes I could see a mix of emotions but also sadness… Was the news of Misa's death that painful for him? Or was it something else causing the pain? "The task force has been disbanded and I assume you will be returning to L.." His sentence broke off as he glanced behind me to the open door. "This will be the last time we see each other." He stated before looking back down towards me.
Could the sadness actually be caused from knowing we were never going to stand face to face ever again? Confusion rippled through me as I retrieved my pad from my bag and typed it up on the screen. He is no longer Kira so... Why not? -Would you like to walk with me to my hotel room so I can get ready to meet L?- I ask him watching his eyes light up if only by a fraction. With a nod for an answer, I turn around placing my pad back into my bag before walking out the door of his apartment.

Upon reaching my hotel suite I open the door to allow the both of us to walk inside. The trip here was uneventful, to say the least. Neither one of us had typed or uttered a single syllable. There was a tension between us which I could only guess was because I had him as my prime suspect since I arrived. Retrieving my pad from my bag as my door clicked shut I turned towards Light. Yet before I could type anything out I felt my back press against the wall and his soft lips against my own causing my eyes to widen. My heart was racing frantically as wild emotions began to stir within me.
When he pulled away I felt as if I couldn't breathe from the look in his eyes. He then bowed his head and muttered under his breath. "I'm sorry." I barely caught those words before he backed up so I could regain control of myself. Shaking my head to regain my thought I look down at my pad before typing to him.
-My computer bag should be on a chair. Could you put my laptop away while I pack away my clothes?- My fingers hesitated with these next words. As I wondered if I really should put them for him to read. -It's okay, just surprised me.- After he read them I turned around not waiting for confirmation from Light as to if he would do as I ask or not. I walked into my bedroom and began pulling my clothes out of my drawers and closet.
I could hear rustling in the other room as Light was putting my Laptop away until I could hear an unfamiliar sound of paper and silence. Did I leave any paper in there? I don't believe so. It could be a receipt that I had forgotten to throw away I guess. Reaching up I went to grab my duffle bag.
*Light*
When I put her computer into the bag she specified I couldn't help but think about the kiss I had stolen from her. Was it her first kiss? Is that why she went rigid and her eyes went wide? She looked as if I had scared her but then only said she was surprised. Shaking my head I wrap up the cords noticing a folded piece of paper that had been under her laptop. What could it be? Wouldn't Alessia know that putting paper under her computer could block the vents and cause the machine to overheat? It seemed unlike her to take that chance.
After putting away her cords I pick up the paper and slowly unfold it. At the words upon the page caused my eyes to widen.
Light,
I told you we will be together soon. In fact, the countdown is.

I could hear screaming coming from the bedroom causing me to run in that direction. That was Kira's handwriting to be sure. Even if she wouldn't have mentioned that she had told me we would be together soon. Was she doing something to Alessia? Was it because she was watching me and seen me kiss her? Could people that cant talk scream? It didn't make sense but I was going to find out. Stepping through the bedroom door I was expecting to see Kira standing above an unmoving Alessia. Silence rang out in the room so I walked in a little further to look around the corner. Don't let Alessia get hurt because of me.
The sight before me was unexpected. My heart was hammering in my chest. Alessia was on her knees on the floor holding her head with tears streaming down her cheek. Her duffle bag lay in a heap next to her with a… I felt my eyes widen at the death note on her lap. She has a death note?! No wait, calm down Light. That letter was from Kira... Pulling me from my thoughts Alessia dropped her hands and look up towards me. Her green eyes which were always full of emotion seemed colder now as a slow smirk spread across her lips. "Light." She spoke with a voice she made us all believe she didn't have. I felt my heart leap from the tone of her voice causing me to close my eyes. It wasn't just any voice... It was Kira.
"I see. So that was part of the message I didn't catch until now." I said walking towards her as she stood. "What isn't seen and isn't heard does not mean it isn't real. What wasn't seen was the way I remember you to look and what isn't heard was Alessia. You were trying to tell me you and her were one in the same." I set the note on her bed and looked down at her realizing her eyes were now the very charcoal color I adored with contact lenses in her hand.
"Yes, I am surprised it took you this long to figure out Light." A playful smile tugged at the corner of her lips before she stepped up to me and wrapped her arms around my shoulders. Within moments I could feel her lips press against mine. With the very heat, my soul itself had ached to feel again. Kira... Running my hands down her sides I traced the contours of her before gripping my palms over her pleasantly round butt and picking her up. Kira's breathy sound of glee vibrated against my lips as I carried her to the bed. My love, My goddess. None of this would have been possible without you by my side even when I had believed you were gone forever.
Pushing her down on the bed as I hoist myself above her and trail my thumb over her cheek. I felt myself smile for the first time since that day in the warehouse. "We will rule our empire until the end of time. My love. My Kira. Let us join and set upon our thrones side by side."
I watched as her nose wrinkled, her cheeks flushing red. " Light. Are you actually asking me to marry you?" Her tone was playful though, her eyes clearly stated she was being serious.
"Yes." Is all I said before I couldn't hold back any longer. Capturing her lips with my own wanting to reclaim the very body I have been denied for years. Her nails drag down my back pulling at the cotton separating us, causing small scratches to push through to my skin. Yes, this is Kira. My goddess, is back where she belongs. Closing my eyes to my thoughts I nip at her bottom lip enjoying how she squirms beneath me as I press my hips further against her. "Kira, you... are mine." I declare watching her cheeks flush adorable, her red swirling hues half-close. "Always." She breathes out sending shivers through my body, a warm building in my chest I have not felt in years. -She's mine.- I think to myself before shedding her of her clothing to bear her to my view. -She's mine.- I silently repeat as I move down the bed and pull her legs over my shoulders. Lowering myself between her legs before slowly running my tongue along her damp folds. When I hear her hiss in reaction and squirm around me as her hips raise for me I couldn't help but feel prideful. "You're mine." I breathe out just before slipping my tongue into her. Taking in her sweet juices as I lather her soft silky dew-covered skin. My hands grip onto her hips holding her in place as she begins to call out in pleasure, her hips trying to buck against my tongue. Nipping at her nub I nearly chuckle at her call of pleasure. "Don't move." I inform her and just as she used to, she obeys. Focusing intently on keeping her body still even as I return to enjoying her taste.

We have lost the war against Kira. As Alessia had stated and with what she didn't clarify. She herself may have caused this loss. I could see it in her eyes when she was typing to the task force. As if she had just realized it herself. That it was possible she may have planned to lose her memories and made it so someone whose ideals were the same as Light's would take up being Kira. Someone that not even she herself would be able to find.
The heavy thought weighed on my shoulders as I walked into the room recently modified to house a new person. The Kira with her memories intact and the Kira after were so different from each other. Not only with the emotions and beliefs but... Could possibly the true Kira Lake be wittier and smarter than the Kira who woke up from her coma? It is quite possible. In fact, I am unsure why I never thought of it before. The Kira with all of her memories had the time and motivation to always remain ahead of me. She had to be resourceful to not be caught even with all odds against her. The Kira now who chose to be called Sapphire and became S herself never had to outwit anyone especially herself. We were doomed from the beginning. We were just too stubborn to accept defeat. The moment the Kira killings began we had no chance to win.
Coming up to the baby blue crib I look down at the small boy infant. Misa's legacy. "Ryuzaki. Should I contact the father now?" Watari questions with his phone already out. The only words Misa ever spoke. Was to make sure her Light receives their son. Taiyo Yagami. (Taiyo meaning sun. Get it? Light is moon and the child is sun. ^.^)
"Yes, Watari. Tell Light of what Misa left for him." I speak shoving my hands in my pants pockets and walking out of the room. It is Light's son after all. He has more right to know about him than any of us. As Alessia said. Light without his memories is innocent. He will make a great father.
Looking up at the clock I felt my heart give a shuddering throb. She should have come back by now. I knew if she didn't and her realizing Light's innocence that there were a high possibility that she had feelings for Light and would give them a chance. As her text had said between her and Light. I was only her friend. If those two have gotten together then young Taiyo will have a wonderful life with at least one parent who will dote on him. Treat him as if he were a prince. Or because it is Sapphire, take as if he were her own. A true prince son of a supernatural princess.
