(A/N: In that first chapter, Mario got the idea of getting Daisy to help him rescue Peach. Let's get this show on the road so we can see what they're going to do now!)
A while later, the Odyssey landed outside of Peach's Castle. Mario walked up to the castle's front doors with Cappy posing as his usual cap, and Daisy was at his side.
"Come on." Mario said to Daisy as they entered the Great Hall. Mario was so well-liked by everyone in Peach's Castle that he didn't have to knock anymore.
"Okay. Just so you know, you don't have to worry about how well I can do Peach's voice. I can imitate her perfectly. Listen to this." said Daisy. She cleared her throat, then said, in a perfect impression of Peach's voice, "Bowser, you insensitive dirt-clod! Have you no shame for trying to kill the only man I'll ever love?!"
"Hey, that's-a pretty good!" Mario said.
However, Daisy's impression of Peach was so good, it caught the attention of every Toad in the Great Hall.
"A little too good, if you want my opinion. Everyone else is looking at you." Cappy said, noticing how the eyes of every Toad in the room were on them, including the eyes of an elderly Toad who was more than a little surprised at the sound of that voice.
"Master Mario! Have you rescued the Princess already?" Toadsworth asked, running up to the red-clad plumber. He was hoping Mario would say that he did, because it would be pretty awesome if he managed to rescue her so quickly.
"No, I'm afraid I'm still working on it, Toadsworth." Mario replied.
"But... But I heard her voice!" Toadsworth said, stunned. Then, confused, he added, "If that wasn't the Princess talking, then who was it?"
"Well, first, I had to go and get someone who can help me get her back from Bowser a little more easily." Mario said, and he motioned to Daisy.
"Hi, Toadsworth." Daisy said to the old Toad, doing her impression of Peach's voice.
"Princess Daisy! Was that you imitating Princess Peach?" Toadsworth asked.
"Yup. Pretty cool, huh?" Daisy asked, still sounding like Peach.
"I will admit that it is impressive that you can imitate her voice, but now I have something to say to you." Toadsworth began.
"What is it?" Daisy asked, now using her normal voice.
"Please help Master Mario save your cousin! I'm begging you!" Toadsworth pleaded, getting down on the ground, looking like someone who was begging for mercy.
"Of course I'm going to help Mario save Peach. I wouldn't have come with him if I didn't want to help, or if I didn't think I could. But I know I can help, and I want to help, so you don't need to worry." Daisy replied.
"Don't worry, Toadsworth. With Daisy on our side, Peach is as good as saved." Mario added.
"Splendid! I'll leave you to whatever it is you need to do." said Toadsworth, and he carefully got up and left the Great Hall. He was still worried about Peach, but he hoped Daisy would be able to help rescue her easily.
"Where to now, Mario? Peach's room?" Daisy asked, sure that she was going to have to change into one of Peach's pink dresses and put on some of her make-up. Being a tomboy, pink was not one of Daisy's favorite colors, and she did not wear make-up unless she absolutely had to, but she was more than ready to wear both if it meant helping to get her favorite cousin out of Bowser's clutches.
"Actually, Daisy, we'll need to go to Toadette's room instead." Mario said.
"Huh? Why are we going there? I thought the idea was to make me look like Peach, and the stuff to help with that would be in her room." Daisy said, confused.
"I want to try something first, and we can only do this thing in Toadette's room. Come with me." Mario told Daisy, taking her hand and leading her to Toadette's room.
Thankfully, Toadette was currently in her room, tidying up a bit. She looked up when she heard a knock at the door to her room.
"It's open!" she called.
The door opened, and there stood Mario.
"Mario! You're back pretty quick! Is Peach okay?" the pink female Toad asked, more than surprised to see Mario standing in her doorway.
"I don't know. I haven't rescued her yet." Mario said.
"Well, that's odd. I've never known you to come back to the castle in the middle of a rescue mission without Peach. Why did you bring Daisy here?" Toadette asked, noticing that Peach's cousin was standing next to Mario.
"I'm here to help Mario save Peach, and the reason why is a long, complicated story, but I'm sure you'll get to hear it in due time." Daisy said.
"Okay." said Toadette, hoping that Daisy could help Mario save Peach.
"Right now, I've got something really important to ask you, Toadette." Mario said.
"Ask away." Toadette smiled.
"Do you still have that crown? You know, the one that made you look like Peach when you put it on?" Mario asked.
"What?! She's got a crown that'll make her look like Peach?! I'd really like to see that! That is, if you still have it." Daisy said, intrigued.
"Oh yeah, I've still got the crown with me. The Toad Brigade and I decided to call it the Super Crown." Toadette said, taking the power-up out of her closet. She donned the crown, and except for a few things, she did look like she could easily pass herself off as Peach's twin sister.
"Oh wow! You really do look a lot like Peach!" said Cappy, liking what he saw.
"Huh? Who said that?" Toadette, now Peachette, asked, looking around to see who said that.
Mario and Daisy quickly explained Cappy to Peachette, and Cappy revealed himself to her. Like Daisy before her, Peachette was more than a little surprised at the sight of him, but she recovered quickly when she learned that he was a friend, not a foe.
"As long as you're on our side, I'm okay." Peachette smiled.
"Now that you know about Cappy, let me say something about your crown, Toadette. That thing is so cool! If Bowser saw you now, he might actually mistake you for Peach! And your voice would have him completely convinced that you're her! Boy, I can just imagine the look on his stupid face if he captured you, only to find out at the last second that you're not Peach!" Daisy said.
"He won't be that easily fooled, Daisy. There are a few things about Peachette here that might tip him off." Mario said as Toadette, now Peachette, started laughing at the thought of how Bowser might look if he captured her and found out she wasn't Peach. But then she saw his shocked look turn to anger, which stopped her laughter pretty darn quick.
"I see." Daisy mumbled, realizing that Mario was right as she got a better look at Peachette. There were things that Bowser would notice.
"It might be easier to fool him if we see how that crown looks on you!" Mario said to Daisy.
"You want me to do the fooling by trying on the crown, huh? Well, okay, let's see what happens if I wear it." Daisy said.
Toadette removed the Super Crown and turned back into her normal self. She smiled as she held the power-up out to the flower princess. Daisy removed her own crown, handing it to Mario to hold while she took the Super Crown from Toadette's little hands and slowly set it on top of her head. Sure enough, Daisy changed when she was wearing it.
"Wow! Daisy, you look amazing!" Mario gasped as he looked at Daisy.
"Bowser's going to be so fooled!" Cappy said.
"Oh my gosh, Daisy! This is incredible! You look just like Peach!" Toadette exclaimed, clapping her hands while jumping up and down in excitement.
"Do I?" Daisy asked as she looked in a mirror in the room. She saw that Toadette was right! Daisy looked like a carbon copy of Peach. She had Peach's fair complexion and blonde hair, her face was all made up, and her dress had turned pink and looked exactly like the dress Peach wore. Her earrings also turned into the same blue ones Peach wore.
But, like Toadette as 'Peachette', there were a few things that made Daisy not look like Peach. First of all, the Super Crown still looked as it should. Secondly, she still had her short, white gloves with the petal-shaped openings and orange high heels. And finally, her hair, despite being blonde, was still in its usual style, not long like Peach's hair, the way Daisy used to wear hers.
"I don't think we need to worry about your shoes, Daisy. Like your dress, the skirt of Peach's dress usually covers her shoes, and I don't think Bowser ever noticed the color of her shoes before. If he doesn't know what color Peach's shoes are, then you don't need to change them." Mario said.
"As for my gloves, I can easily remove them and keep them on the Odyssey, with my crown. I can also see that my hair doesn't look to be in Peach's style. Ah well, no biggie. If Bowser asks, I'll just tell him I had my hair done so I'll look good for the wedding." Daisy said. Sure enough, she sounded just like Peach without having to imitate her voice. She liked that.
"You think he'll buy that, Daisy?" Cappy asked.
"He will. I'll teach him to believe that I am Peach. I'll teach the Koopalings to suck eggs." Daisy said, still sounding like Peach.
Mario, Cappy, and Toadette all burst out laughing at that one.
"I never thought I'd live to see the day I hear Peach's voice say the words 'suck eggs'." Mario said when he finally managed to stop laughing.
"Are you really going to say that to Bowser when you're with him?" Cappy asked Daisy, pulling himself together.
"Maybe. It all depends on his behavior." said Daisy, before adding, "But don't you worry about me, Mario. I can act like Peach. I'll put on an act worthy of an Oscar."
"I believe you, Peach." Mario replied.
Daisy understood why Mario had called her that, so she didn't complain. Instead, she removed the Super Crown, which turned her back into her normal self. She then retrieved her own crown from Mario, placing it back on her head, while saying, "Let's go get my cousin back, before she becomes the worst things in the world: Bowser's wife, and Bowser Jr.'s step-mom."
"Oh no! I completely forgot about that detail!" Mario gasped. He knew that if Bowser successfully married Peach, then she'd have to be Bowser Jr.'s step-mom, and if he believed that all step-moms are evil... who knows what he would do to Peach?!
"That's not good at all! Everybody knows that fairy tales are notorious for depicting step-mothers as raving shrews who take pride in terrorizing their step-children!" Cappy said.
"Oh, that's right. But Peach isn't anything like that; she's like a mom to all the Toads here at the castle." Toadette said.
"Yeah, but do you think Bowser Jr. knows that Peach has a nurturing, motherly side? I don't think so, and I don't think he'd give her the chance to show it!" Mario reminded them.
Toadette knew for a fact that Mario was right. She'd heard all about the trip to Isle Delfino, and how Bowser Jr. wasn't exactly nice to Peach, even though he was convinced that she was his mom. But surely he knew the truth about her by now.
Cappy and Daisy also knew that most little kids believe in the things they hear in fairy tales, and they knew that if Bowser Jr. believed them, his idea would be to hurt his new step-mom before she could hurt him. And he'd probably hurt her worse than anything if that was the case!
"Hurry! Go save Peach!" Toadette said as Cappy turned back into Mario's hat and rested on his head.
"Let's-a go!" Mario said, and he and Daisy ran out to the Odyssey, got back in, and set off after Bowser again, ready to save Peach from a fate worse than death.
Upon finding out that the next kingdom on the map was the Metro Kingdom, Mario set a course for the Metro Kingdom, and they were on their way, hoping against hope that they could catch up to that rotten Koopa King before he could do anything to harm Peach.
Will they catch up to him? And if they do, will he believe that Daisy really is Peach? I can only tell you to stay tuned if you want those questions answered.
