(A.N. Here's the next chapter. Please forgive me for changing the name of Kimberly's attacker, the original name didn't flow how I wanted it to, I needed more of a 2 syllable name and I didn't really like using the name of a ranger from a different series (even though Sam isn't part of the offical SPD team during the series) but anyway I hope you enjoy and feel free to let me know what you think :) )
Kimberly was alone in the Florida gym by herself to get in some extra time and had finished practicing the routines set by her coach. Deciding that she wasn't ready to end her session just yet, she started rehearsing a routine back from Angel Grove. As she did her tricks, she couldn't help but smile as she thought about how often her friends would watch her on the beam. She'd always loved the beam in the youth center and being able to see Tommy and Jason or Tommy and Rocky sparring opposite her. Thinking of Tommy, she smiled wider - this had always been his favourite routine. She did her final trick before elegantly jumping off the beam, landing perfectly. As she finished, she heard a slow clap that was getting louder, frightening her as she'd thought she was the only one in the gym.
"Well done Kimberly, I haven't seen that one before."
"Umm thanks, yeah it's not one Coach set." As Marco started getting closer, she began to feel uncomfortable as he towered over her. They'd spent plenty of time together but without anyone else around, his company felt unnerving. Slowly packing up her stuff, she looked at the boy whilst trying to subtly keep their distance. "Are you getting some extra practice in?"
"No that wasn't the plan." Completely confused by his response, her dread grew as he continued. "Since we're both here, how about you show me some of your routines?"
"Thanks for the offer but I've been practicing for hours and I think I'm gonna call it a night."
"Oh come on Kimberly."
She shook her head. "I'm exhausted Marco, I'm just going to head up to my dorm, have a quick dinner and call Tommy."
Kimberly saw the boy's jaw tick and his glare intensify. "Oh that's right, the precious boyfriend. All we ever hear about is Tommy this, Tommy that."
Confused by his anger, she cautiously began to walk backwards towards the door. "Sorry, I thought we were friends. I'll make sure not to talk about my friends with you anymore."
Marco laughed, not a single thread of humour in the sound. "You really don't get it, do you Kimberly? I have been so patient with you but enough is enough." The boy began to advance on her until he had her pushed up against the wall adjacent to the door - the former ranger's ticket to safety. "I've watched you from afar and I've been your friend but I'm done waiting. I'm taking what I want."
He grabbed her tightly around her neck, pinning her to the wall, limiting her movement. He used his other hand to feel her breasts through her gym clothes. Trying to squirm away from his touch, Kim felt the tears in her eyes as she asked. "Why are you doing this?"
"Because I can, you are mine now Kimberly and there's nothing you can do to stop me." As she tried to fight against his grip, his anger grew and he slapped her across the face before punching her in the stomach, causing all the air to leave her body. "Don't move and don't fight me or you'll be punished. And don't make a sound." His grip on her throat tightened, restricting her air causing her to whimper. The noise resulted in her getting a punch in the jaw. "I told you not to make a noise." She felt the boy fiddling with the back of her shirt in hopes to remove the item as he said. "It was never gonna work with you and Tommy anyway, long distance never works Kimberly so why don't you make this easier on yourself."
Hearing the name of the boy she loved most, a new fire grew in her and she kicked at his legs much the way she used to when battling putties and tengas. She was able to fight him for a few minutes before he struck her in the head, causing her vision to blur. She felt Marco grab her forearms and slam her back and arms against the wall. He grabbed her upper arms in a death grip and shook her. "Pull another move like that Kimberly and I won't hesitate to hurt you." The former pink ranger waited until her vision cleared and knew she only had one chance to get away from the monster she called a teammate. When he was convinced that she wasn't fighting back, she lifted her knee and struck him right in the stomach, causing him to crunch forward and she gave a strong kick into the same spot. The boy fell to the floor, doubled over, giving Kimberly enough time to quickly grab the bag beside her and run out of the gym to her dorm room. As she was running, she could hear Marco following, shouting her name. "Kimberly!. Kimberly! Get back here!"
Kimberly was shaken from her sleep to find a concerned Tommy next to her. She could feel her heart beating rapidly in her chest and her breathing was heavy. She gripped her boyfriend tightly, comforted by the feel of his bare chest, assuring her that it was just a dream and he was really with her. Tommy rubbed her back, holding the girl to him as he whispered reassurances to her as she tried to calm down.
Upon hearing of Kimberly's return, – and having been unaware of the letter and the couple's supposed breakup – Tommy's parents had been more than willing to let the young girl stay with them. They had always had full faith in the teenagers and had even trusted them enough to share a room, both teenagers were respectful and responsible enough not to betray that trust.
Once she'd calmed down, she looked up into Tommy's worried brown eyes. "I'm sorry."
He shook his head, caressing her hair. "You never have to apologise Beautiful, are you ok?"
"I'm ok, I think." Tommy gently pushed her to continue. "It was what happened in the gym, what Marco did to me. I know I got away but it was still scary. I thought he was my friend and that I could trust him, I never thought I'd be in a situation like that."
"I understand, no one ever expects to be put in that position and I'm so sorry that you had to live through it. I hate that he hurt you but you are so strong Kim."
The girl sighed. "It doesn't feel that way Tommy. I can't help but feel guilty that it's my fault. I shouldn't have gone to the gym by myself and I shouldn't have been friends with him. I should've fought back harder."
Pulling his girlfriend in front of him, making sure their eyes were locked as he held her hands in his own. "I want you to listen to me, never ever think that this is your fault. You did nothing wrong and you can't blame yourself because he is a terrible person. You couldn't have known the type of person he was. And you should feel safe in being able to go to the gym and you deserve that safety." Placing a kiss on the back of both her hands, he looked into her eyes. "You did everything you could Beautiful, you fought hard and you saved yourself from him. I'm so proud of you Kimberly and I never want you to question your actions because of him."
She nodded and moved to lean against his chest, her hand rubbing his stomach. "I know, I just hate that it happened. But I'm glad that I'm back in Angel Grove and I couldn't be happier than being right here with you."
Lifting up her chin, he gently kissed her lips. "Me too Beautiful." Looking over at his alarm clock and seeing the hour, he sighed. "We should probably get back to sleep, we'll be up early 'cause I know the guys are gonna have heaps of questions."
He was glad to hear her giggle in response. "Yeah, you're probably right." Manoeuvring themselves so they were lying down in each other's arms with Kimberly's head rested on his chest, she leant up and kissed his jaw. "Good night Handsome, I love you."
"I love you too, sweet dreams Kim."
