Sekirei One Shots

(A/N: I own nothing and this is just a random one shot that pops into my brain. Be prepared for anything AU and OOC should be expected.)

When Uzume had to attack Kazehana on the roof Miya was nearby. She had been talking to Kazehana and honestly had wanted to try and see if she could bring Uzume back home Then Uzume had attacked and Minato and his Sekirei had shown up t help Kazehana.

Miya was quite interested in the young man. He was the son of Takami and she would guess Minaka as well. And yet nothing like either of his parents aside from his obvious intelligence. Matsu confided in her that someone had purposefully stopped Minato from passing the exam. She had wanted to quiz him and thus gave him an exam harder than the one the university used, which he had passed with flying colors in less than an hour.

Matsu had been surprised and had since tested Minato with a variety of exams. According to Matsu Minato should have at least two bachelor's degrees and one masters. And yet despite his intellect and despite how he had been in the top ten nationally for his year level ever since he was a small child, he had supposedly failed the exam. Even though he was used to exams and aced much tougher ones.

Matsu called bullshit and Miya agreed with her.

But…Miya also knew that there had to be something else to the boy who had gotten a construction job to try and support himself and his Sekirei.

And Miya knew full well that a persons real self only came out when they feared that either they or a loved one was about to die. And while she knew she couldn't count as a 'loved one' for him, after all she was a bloodstained alien who merely pretended to be a simple widow landlady, she was sure that he at least respected her and cared about her safety a little bit. It was cute watching how he had tried to hide away the truth of his relationship with each of his Sekirei and hilarious for her how he tried to come up with all his excuses.

But wanting to see what Minato would do is what led her to her next actions. She waited until Uzume was battling Kazehana (and one of her little feathers was being bribed with her Ashikabi's health to do this?! Oh how she felt the itch to grab her sword, how her blood cried out to save her little feather and gut the one responsible for this.) and Minato and his group were close enough and Miya stood just behind Kazehana, right in front of the railing. She noticed how Minato's eyes shot to her and then to the railing and then to Kazehana and Uzume and he looked horrified as he already started running towards her.

Uzume's next attempt to strike Kazehana that the wind flower had dodged gracefully slammed into Miyas side and she let her body be moved with the blow. Oh her little Uzume was strong of that their was no doubt, but if Miya hadn't wanted to be knocked over the railing by the blow then she probably wouldn't even notice the blunt attack.

As it was Miya let the momentum behind Uzume's attack, and Kazehana's small careful blast of air (because Kazehana knew what Miya was up to without having to even ask or think about it. They had fought together for a long time after all and had nearly died together or well Kazehana had nearly died at least and they were still very good friends all these years later) push her backwards over the railing.

She caught sight of Minato being near the railing with wide horrified but determined eyes, saw Uzumes look of shock and horror (and she'd have to apologize to her little bird later), how Kazehana merely raised an eyebrow but quickly fixed a look of shock on her face while the rest of Minato's group were horrified and cried out in shock and horror.

Miya smiled slightly as she saw Minato's hand appear on the railing. She wondered if he thought she would die? Sure most humans would die from this height but Sekirei would barely have a bruise, and she being the real thing instead of being adjusted and limited like her little siblings have she wouldn't even have a bruise. Surely though his smart intellect had to acknowledge that she wasn't human, or if she was then she must be the smartest damn human in the world to know half of what she did and let slip around him.

Her eyes widened however when instead of Minato's face appearing over the railing in horror and shock and fear, she saw him jump the railing and dive after her.

"Miya-san!" Minato cried as he dove after her, quickly adjusting his body to fall slightly faster than her, allowing him to catch up to her with ease as he wrapped his arms around her.

"M-Minato! What are you doing? Do you want to die?!" Miya asked baffled. Why had he jumped after her with absolutely no hesitation? What had he been thinking? Did he know she could save herself, or rather save him, with ease?

Minato didn't answer her for a second, one of his arms letting go of her as his hand shot out and he caught the railing of a balcony. She heard how his bones cracked and snapped while the railing came loose and warped dangerously under their combined weight. They both jerked greatly and Minato gritted his teeth against the pain as he used his broken arm to hold his weight and her own up. Glancing down Miya verified that the fall would still be deadly to a human and stared up at him in shock.

"I'm sorry you got dragged into this Miya-san. I truly did want to try and keep you out of it so you wouldn't worry or be targeted. But I refuse to let you die!" Minato said giving her a grim determined smile as he held her in his other arm while their were horrified shouts from above as his Sekirei peered down worried.

"Minato-kun I'll be fine. This railing can't hold both of us. Let me go and pull yourself up." Miya said eyeing the railing as its screws and bolts began to come loose or up.

"I refuse! Sacrificing your life to save mine? I refuse! I won't let you fall Miya-san." Minato said and she looked into his eyes, surprised by the determination and strength of character he had in them now that he never had before. Noting that his arm may be around her but his hand was mainly held onto her arm and kimono sleeve Miya smiled softly at him.

"It'll be alright Minato-kun. Your arm broke catching the railing. There's no way you can hold us both up. Let me go." Miya said softly as she twisted in his grasp a bit until it loosened while he hissed in pain.

"I don't care! My arm, my leg, it doesn't matter! I don't care if I break every bone in my body I'm not letting you fall!" Minato said gritting his teeth. Miya smiled softly at him.

"You really are…a good man. For what it's worth I'm proud of you Minato-kun. Trust me." Miya said smiling at him gently and not caring how maternal her words sounded as she used her other hand to grab her kimono sleeve just below where he had his grip on her.

And she ripped it. She began to fall again and smiled at the shock on his face, but then frowned when he quickly moved and grabbed her bare arm, there was another horrible crack from his arm and he hissed in pain but stared at her with clear eyes.

"If you want to die so bad then do it at Izumo Inn! Do it after the Sekirei plan is finished and everyone is free and safe and happy! If you want to die then be there with your family for it! Don't do it like this!" Minato said glaring at her and several more screws and bolts came up.

"Minato I.." Miya realized what that must have looked like to him. Seeing her trying to throw her life away

"I couldn't save someone before. Last time I tried to save them, she threw me out a window and had to watch and hear knowing that she didn't want to be saved! That I couldn't save her as she burned to death in a fire she started. I refuse to let anything like that happen again!" Minato said and Miya felt as if she had been punched in the gut at hearing that. Oh god…she….she didn't know.

If she had known then she would have…would have…

She noticed how they were dangling precariously by only a screw or two left that was about to pop and felt how his grip on her arm changed ever so slightly.

"I'm not letting you die here. You might have just been existing…but now…now you need to live and actually start living. Take care of the girls and Kagari for me…take care of yourself." Minato whispered so softly she almost didn't hear him as he looked up and she noticed how his grip on the metal railing was strong enough that he was actually bending the metal under his fingers.

"Musubi cover Ku-chan's eyes! Uzume!" Minato bellowed for those on the roof, who were apparently arguing and fighting verbally about who was to blame instead of actually trying to help either of the two who had fallen. The only ones at the railing were a sad teary eyed Kusano and a grim Kazehana. Almost immediately Musubi appeared and had picked up Kusano, getting her away from the railing and where she could see.

"I might be worthless but…if I can save just one person then it's not that bad to be worthless is it? Don't blame yourself for this Miya, or else I'll come haunt ya." Minato said softly to her while Uzume appeared looking horrified and stunned at the railing.

"Uzume! Don't blame yourself! And…" Minato tensed his body further and Miya had a sudden understanding of what he was about to do.

"Catch Miya!" With that Minato gave a roar of effort and exertion as he used all of his muscles from his construction work to toss Miya up hard and high enough for the veil Sekirei to grab her, just as the last screws on the railing he was holding onto pop.

"MINATO!" There were several screams from the girls and Kazehana was shocked as was Miya.

But seeing Miya being grabbed by Uzume's veils Minato merely smiled as he fell backwards to the hard cold pavement below.

Locking eyes with the stunned and horrified Miya Minato merely gave her a gentle smile as he mouthed the words 'I'm Sorry' to her before he closed his eyes.

He accepted his fate with a smile.
