Sekirei One Shots

(A/N: I own nothing and this is just a random one shot that pops into my brain. Be prepared for anything AU and OOC should be expected.)
Minato was a strange one to the residents of Izumo Inn. He showed no obvious signs of attraction to any of the women there, including his Sekirei, after a few days of getting used to them. He helped with the chores readily enough but always had payment for himself and each of his Sekirei on time no matter how many Sekirei he gained. Miya wondered if he was paying her with MBI money but a discreet questioning of Musubi revealed that they didn't have their MBI cards since Musubi had forgotten hers when she left.
But he always paid her right on time, even sometimes giving her extra because he 'felt like she deserved it', but he also had no job that she knew of. She knew he went to the construction yard one day out of boredom to try it out and left the job after that one day without going back. And yet the payments still came right on time.
What's more, he didn't seem to be on good terms with his mother and didn't specify why that was but upon his sisters visit and how she so casually called him worthless as if she had been doing it for years Miya could understand a bit. It seems as if Yukari was so used to calling him worthless that she didn't even think about it, ingrained into her as it was now Miya could only guess that she had picked it up from somewhere and Miya had a sinking suspicion as to where exactly.
Somehow though…Minato could just glance at someone for a few seconds and seem to know most anything and everything about them. Miya wasn't at all surprised to be left a discreet note while she was cleaning, in her pocket no less even though she never noticed him slipping it in there which really did surprise her, that he knew she was a Sekirei but that she didn't have to worry cause he wasn't going to tell anyone and if she wanted him to leave he would. She quickly assured him that she wasn't worried and that he could stay if he wished, but there was to be no fighting in the Inn.
Right now though Miya was looking bemused as she stared down at him, the chores were done for now and dinner wouldn't have to be ready for a few more hours…and yet she found Minato lazing in the yard just staring up at the sky with his arms behind his head.
"Want to join me?" Minato asked without looking at her, she wasn't at all surprised to know that he was aware of her being there watching him.
"For a nap on the grass?" Miya questioned raising an eyebrow in amusement.
"Cloud watching. It can be really relaxing and sometimes you can make some funny images out of the shapes." Minato said and he lazily raised one hand and pointed at one of the images.
"See? That one's a hydra…but the one right on its tail is a unicorn. Kind of looks like the unicorn is stamping on the hydra's tail doesn't it?" Minato asked motioning to the clouds and Miya glanced up. Yes she supposed it did look something like that if you tilted your head a bit.
"Besides…It rests and expands your mind with a bit of imagination." Minato said and then let out a jaw cracking yawn.
"And yeah sometimes it leads to a good nap out in the sunshine." Minato admitted with a small smile and chuckle as he tilted his head to look at her.
"You work hard every day for everyone else. You need to take a break sometime." Minato said and Miya smiled slightly at how thoughtful that was of him.
"Besides, I don't know much about Sekirei biology or their muscle structure but with how hard you train to keep your sword skills sharp, your muscles must be constantly breaking down and unless you heal extremely fast then doing that over and over without a break would only hurt you further in the long run. So pull up a patch of grass and watch clouds for a while." Minato said and Miya had to admit that the boy had a point, even though she knew she healed extremely fast some resting was always good. It's why she enjoyed her bath so much, it was a way to rest and relax and ease her tired muscles.
"I suppose it can't hurt to do so for a little while." Miya admitted as she laid out on the grass next to him and stared up at the sky.
"But no being naughty and trying to kiss me if I fall asleep." Miya teased with a small smile and Minato snorted slightly.
"If I did kiss you it'd be on the cheek and you definitely wouldn't be asleep. Trust me you're beautiful and Takehito-san was a very lucky man, but to me you're more of a mom-figure." Minato said and Miya had a sudden aura around her.
"Oh? I see myself as more of an older sister." Miya said her voice a bit playfully dangerous.
"Wouldn't know what that's like so I couldn't say. I just know that you care about everyone, try to look out for us even when punishing us, and you treat me and the others the same way you do Kuu-chan. Sounds like a mom to me, a better one than mine at least." Minato said not bothered by her dangerous aura in the least as he kept staring at clouds.
"What do you mean by that last sentence?" Miya asked confused and worried while Minato glanced at her out of the corner of his eye.
"You noticed how Yukari always called me her worthless or useless brother. She had to get that from somewhere. If that's what my little sister is like then imagine what my mom is like. Besides the fact that she's also very busy, has been lying to me about multiple things my entire life, and is emotionally and mentally abusive? While also training my little sister to be the same way and treating Kuu-chan and Musubi both as her daughters while they were at the MBI." Minato said all that without being bothered in the slightest by Miya's small gasp of shock at what he was saying. Miya had never thought that Takami could be like that to her son but…it…it unfortunately made sense.
"Not to mention barring me from entering the college by bribing or blackmailing the college into saying I failed that test twice just to get me out of the city so I wouldn't find out about her lies and other actions." Minato added that part almost as an afterthought as he let out a yawn.
"She really did that to your test results?" Miya asked softly, although she could kind of understand if Takami didn't want her son in the fighting but she agreed with Minato that it seemed more like his mother just didn't want to find out about her secrets or working with MBI.
"I have three bachelor's degrees, two masters degrees, and roughly ten different associates degrees in various subjects. Does that sound like I could fail that test to you?" Minato asked raising an eyebrow at her and she blinked at that.
"How on earth did you get that many degrees?" Miya asked turning her head to look at him fully and making him chuckle.
"There's a reason some of my old friends called me a lazy genius. Try asking Matsu for the results of that IQ test she thought she was tricking me into taking." Minato said and Miya made a mental note to do just that later on.
"I'm probably about to drop off. Night ma." Minato said yawning again and closing his eyes while Miya blushed a bit and looked confused and worried but also a bit pleased at the title he gave her.
"Night Minato-kun. I'll wake you for dinner." Miya said moving over and kissing his forehead before she laid back down and stared up at the clouds.
Just enjoying the moment and keeping a silent vigil over him as he slept.
