True to his word Justin restored the castle as soon as he could. Suffice it to say Tomo was overjoyed, and he wasted no time in setting to work. Without his father's abuse to drain him the boy could finally focus on restoring the setting to it's true glory. When he was finally ready to show Suzu his "castle worthy of a princess", the Diva was nearly blinded by how immaculate it all was.
Kei, however, was not nearly as enthused to log back in to showcase it. The teen had used U as a method of venting the trauma he endured in the real world rather than any sort of entertainment. But now that he was finally surrounded by those who love and support him, he had less reason to forsake the waking world for the realm of fantasy. Like everything in his life he eventually compromised for the sake of his brother, and after some gradual prodding from his angel and princess, he began opening his virtual door to his new circle of friends.
"Dragon I will never forgive you for keeping me away from here…" an awestruck Hiroka proclaimed as she entered the castle foyer.
The beast for his part merely grunted as he ushered in an equally stunned Kamishin, Ruka and entourage of choir aunts.
"Just… be sure to follow angel or the other sprites at all times" he demanded in his normal voice, no longer feeling the need to put on his gravelly front. "And be sure not to-!"
"You worry too much brother!" Tomo happily chided as he radiantly exuberantly swooped about the place around. "We can finally share our home to our family! It's time to celebrate!"
Before the dragon could so much as bat an eye his brother and AI servants scattered to the four winds dragging along a guest each; until there were none left besides an exasperated Kei and delightedly amused Suzu. Taking the boy by the arm the school girl tugged him along for their own tour of the place. The once violent monster had all but forgotten about his irritation by the time they reached the first stairwell.
"I've never seen Angel so alive until recently."
"... yeah" the beast acquiesced with a light smile.
"He's been wanting to show this all off for weeks now."
"...mmm".
"... That includes showing you off."
Just as Suzu expected, Kei stopped mid step at this declaration. Now bearing a sad frown the boy couldn't help but look away in shame, still feeling unworthy of his brother's admiration.
"He really shouldn't, I'm not much to be proud of after… well, everything…" he explained, referencing the negative publicity he garnered through his fights.
"You're wrong Kei." moving to his front the beautiful maiden urged the creature to look into her eyes. "You have more to show the world than you could ever realize. You just have to give it a chance to see you."
"What, so they can harass me all over again?"
"That's not what-"
"Be real Belle" he interjected with a raised volume. "When the castle was burning down the world was cheering. 'Serves him right'"
"Everything is better now Kei!" the girl sternly rebutted. "Justin won't hunt and slander you anymore! And you'll have us to support you when jerks harass you."
"And why should I put that on you? Why shouldn't I just stay out of the way so-"
"Because it would make Tomo happy."
…
The silence went on for what felt like an eternity, until the loving brother could do nothing but collapse under the weight of his responsibility.
With a heavy sigh he sat himself on the step admitting "you're right, as usual". With a chuckle his wiser companion joined him and leaned into his side. "It's just that I can't think of anywhere to start! I mean, what could I do to give them a reason to actually like me?"
As if by divine providence the canine form of Kamishin came rushing down the stairwell.
"Dude, you have seriously been holding out on everyone! I mean, you've got a crazy looking library, garden with magic flowers, freaking moving pictures, IMPALED WHALE! It's like I'm in a video game! Oh, and there was this-"
As the overly excitable athlete continued to prattle off like a toddler's first trip to Disneyland, the proverbial light bulb went off in the mind of the castle's master.
With a smirk, the dragon asked "Wait a sec Kamishin, what did you say about a videogame?..."
After that day Kei and Tomo set to work on their greatest project yet: Virtual Reality Odysseys. Just as Suzu was waylaid by the AI sprites when she first sought out the castle, U users will embark on a journey throughout the infinite terrains of Tomo's custom reality program. Along the way the would seek out the sprites, proving themselves in great challenges of wit and courage. When at last they prove true of heart, they will reach the castle of fantasy, the final hurdle in an adventure worthy of the Thousand and One Arabian Nights.
Kei, ever the pessimist, offered to be the final boss fight to book end the adventures. After all, "What better way to be the hero than to slay a dragon?" Yet his friends and family immediately put that nonsense out of his head, for the whole point was to get people to realize who he is at heart, not to perpetuate the stereotype.
Instead they formulated a way to make the dragon a spiritual companion on the users' journeys. Whenever they feel overwhelmed or lost, a virtual Intelligence of Kei will come to their aid, whether it be to fight off the monsters, give encouragement, or just make sure that they won't feel alone (Tomo was extremely proud of the chibi version of dragon he used for this purpose in particular).
Like a flood Users embarked on these quests, and as with all games a community immediately sprang up around it. True there were some who initially construed it as "the quest to save the princess Belle from the wicked clutches of the dragon", but after a few hours of being put through the wringer with only Kei's avatar there to save them, they became some of the most argent of Dragon supporters.
In less than a month, the beast icon was an honorary mascot for the thrill seekers of U, and Kei was nearly as (if not more) beloved as the wonderful Belle who freed him of his curse. It also didn't hurt that the royalties and advertiser revenue had all but set the boys for life.
Years later, when Tomo became of legal working age, he was immediately hired by U's company as lead designer. Just like his mother before him, the Angel gave even the meekest of users, no matter how humble their background, the power to change the world.
As for the dragon who felt like shouldering everything alone; he was never felt undeserving of love and support again. All thanks to a freckled princess, and her power to open even the most jaded of hearts.
As the storybooks go, they all lived happily ever after.
