Chapter 3
A bird was flying above the morning sky, happily singing, then it landed on someone's balcony, tapping the glass balcony door.
Tsunade squirmed on the bed, eyes shut tighter as the sunlight hit her face. She blocked the sunlight with her hand as she groans, sitting up on the soft bed. Growing up, Tsunade had never been a morning person due to her life situations. But a sudden contentment of feeling appeared inside her chest.
For the first time in years the smell of intoxicating colognes, sounds of cries and yells, and the traumatizing things didn't greet her. Instead a peaceful morning, complete hours of sleep, and a heartwarming feeling greeted her.
She took a heavy breath before allowing herself to open her eyes. A gasp came out of her mouth as her eyes roamed around the unfamiliar bedroom.
"W-where am i?" She asked to herself in shock and disbelief.
She pushed the thick blanket off of her body and jumped out of the bed, standing in the middle of the gray painted bedroom. Her long blonde hair swayed to the right with the soft fabric of the very large t-shirt she's wearing. Her heart pounded in her chest out of panic, she stood infront of the large mirror near the balcony door and stared at her own figure.
Speechless as she is before, she softly clutched the sides of the t-shirt and lifted it little. "This isn't...mine-." She jumped on her spot when she lifted the shirt she's wearing and saw that she's wearing some men's boxers. "What the hell?" She muttered and immediately looked through the glass door balcony.
She pushed the doubled door of the balcony open and went in. Her eyes widened at the sight that greeted her. Many olive green hills and countless spring trees stood on the grassy field as birds flew up the blue sky. The sound of the singing birds reached her ears and immediately calmed her down. She stared in awe, taking a step closer to the balcony railing and as soon as her skin touched the railing she yelped in pain.
"Ouch." She exclaimed, taking a look on her bruised arm that's surprisingly wrapped in a bandage. The person that must've had took her in it's own house probably cared that much for her and she's thankful for it. She continued to stare at the view from the balcony, without hearing the bedroom door swing open.
Jiraiya stepped in with a laundry basket in his hands. He was about to go to the closet when his eyes caught something. A smile graced his lips, he placed the laundry basket down and stood in the middle of the room.
"Enjoying the view?" He asked, seeing her jump in her spot, completely taken aback at him.
Tsunade turned around to face him with a red face as she was caught red handed. "U-uhm yes. I've never seen such view before."
He chuckled at her and scratched the back of his head a little. "I'm glad you like it."
She awkwardly giggled, she held her hands together as she steps inside the room, "Uh i was wonderi-"
"You're wondering where are you huh?" He said, cutting her off in the process which she completely agreed to what he stated by giving him a nod. He smiled, "You don't have to worry, Tsunade. You're safe here in my house."
Her eyes widened upon hearing him say those words, "Your house?!" She exclaimed in disbelief, "T-this big thing is yours?"
"Yes?" He awkwardly stated and thought that the woman had never been in a big place like that. "Well actually this is my childhood home. This used to belong to my mother."
"O-oh," She exclaimed. Upon hearing the word mother a pang of pain appeared in her chest and she couldn't help but wonder what her own demonic mother could be doing at this time. She shook her thoughts off and sadly smiled at him, trying to hold back the tears that wants to be released, "Your mother must be wonderful."
Jiraiya looked at her in the eyes and was glad that she thinks about his mother that way, "Yeah, she is."
A blue feeling overcome them, but then it was pushed away when a feminine voice of a woman called Jiraiya up.
"JIRAIYA, BREAKFAST IS READY." The woman called down the stairs.
"COMING NANA." Jiraiya called back then turned his attention to the startled Tsunade, "Follow me, or you'll get lost."
Tsunade nodded her head and walked behind the tall man as they went to the dinning area down stairs. Her eyes moved around the house as she silently follow Jiraiya to the dining area. The inside of his house looks modernly simple, enough for you to feel at home. Many pictures and paintings were scathered everywhere, and one picture caught her eyes.
Though her attention to the picture was torned away when the same feminine voice from not long ago greeted her.
"Nice to see you awake, Tsunade."
Tsunade was clueless as she already is. With a slight confused expression on her face, she turned to the woman who greeted her. Her eyes widened in anticipation and immediately bowed in respect. "Ohayo!"
The brown haired woman raised her brows in amusement with her lips playing a smile, "You don't need to be so formal around me, Dear." She said and suddenly held a hand to touch Tsunade on the shoulder, though Tsunade flinched at the sudden movement and became a little tense.
The little act made the woman aware about Tsunade, she gave her a warm smile and pulled her in a warm comforting hug, "Don't worry, i'm not gonna hurt you."
Jiraiya looked at Tsunade as his Nana continued to hug her in comfort, he then smiled when he notice Tsunade relax in the hug and nuzzled on to the embrace of the woman. The way his Nana interact with people who has a terrible past makes him proud of her. Especially when she treats them like her own child. And Tsunade would seem to like having a new mother figure.
Slowly, with a trembly arm, Tsunade wrapped an arm around the woman and sank in the warmth she's giving her. The feeling the woman radiates feels oddly familiar to her.
"Even if i'm away, i want you to know that i'll always be here."
Little Tsunade looked up at his father with her own glossy amber eyes, "Where?"
Her father smiled and reached a hand towards her chest, where the heart lies, "Right.. here."
Tsunade giggled when his father's touch tickled her a little. His father looked deeply on her amber eyes, not knowing how long would he crave to look at it again. He smiled, helding out his arms wide.
"What do you say about a hug?" He stated, smiling widely as he saw her became giddy for a hug. "One last hug before daddy leaves."
Tsunade happily ran into his father's arms and embrace him as tight as possible. "Promise me to comeback, Daddy."
"I promise."
The brown haired woman felt a warm liquid on her shoulder and immediately pushed Tsunade gently off her. She looked at Tsunade with worried eyes as she witness her cry. "Is something wrong?"
Tsunade shook her head, wiping the tears off of her eyes and cheeks, "Nothing. I-i just remembered my father."
"Well that's nice. He must be wonderful then."
Tsunade smiled in anticipation, "He is, Mrs. Namikaze."
A chuckle came out of the woman and Jiraiya. Tsunade looked at them cluesless at to why are they chuckling.
"Sorry for laughing, Dear. But i'm not Mrs. Namikaze." The woman stated.
"You're not?"
Jiraiya placed a hand on Tsunade's shoulder, "Yes she isn't. Tsunade, this is my surrogate mother, Nana Yuri. She's the one who changed your clothes not me."
A blush was plastered on Tsunade's cheeks in embarassment, "Oh sorry for my mistake. I-i thought you're his moth- Where is his mother if you don't mind me asking?"
The mood between the two people beside Tsunade changed. It felt blue.
"Well, you see-" Nana Yuri didn't got to finish her words when Jiraiya changed the topic.
"The food is getting cold, we should eat." Jiraiya simply said and sat down before them with uttering another word.
Nana Yuri looked at Tsunade apologeticly, "Sorry, Tsunade. But it's very personal for him. You just have to understand."
"Oh uhm, it's alright, Ms. Yuri. I understand-" Tsunade jumped a little on her spot when the older woman touched her shoulder.
"Please," Nana Yuri smiled, "Call me Nana."
