Harry POV
A thousand years and I will still never get over hangovers. My current one is one of the worst yet. My head is in so much pain that it is akin to the time I was impaled through my brain. Salem, 1692. Now that was a clusterfuck and a shitshow.
I reached deep into my right hand pocket of my jeans, where i always kept my phone, just to find it wasn't there. Strange. Through much effort I moved my head to the left of me to which I found Lexi knocked out beside me, we were covered in what appears to be an American flag with bottles of many different varieties strewn around us.
'What the hell?' I asked although I instantly regretted it, super hearing and hangovers are really a terrible mistake, my own voice sending a splitting headache through me.
'Uhhhhh. Shut up Harry.' This voice coming from the other side of the room, Stefan. 'What happened?' He asked after a long pause. Before sitting up with what appears to be a lot of pain.
'Fucked if I know. All I remember is going out for your party and a lot of drinking.' I spoke with quite a bit of struggle. 'What the hell happened last night.'
'Well I can answer that old man.' A new voice chimed in, the last voice I would want to hear, with this amount of pain running through my brain.
'Damon.' Of course he would show up now, just what I need. 'The hell do you want?' I asked unamused by his cocky smirk.
'Hey, keep your voice down for god's sake!' Lexi's irritated tone prevelant. 'I'm trying to sleep!' Before falling asleep again instantly. Ever the morning person she is.
'Calm down, old timer. You know getting so excited will cause problems for your health.' He mocked. 'You'll strain your bad heart.'
'Yeah? How about I come over there and strain your heart outside of your chest. Now shut up.' I would come up with a better quip but I'm severely hungover, gimme a break. 'Where are my trousers?' Damon answered by throwing said articles of clothing at me. 'Cheers, mate.'
'So, how was the party? Did you crazy kids have fun with out me?' He asked clueless of our little chat last night. Good.
'Yes, Damon. We, contrary to popular belief, are able to have some modicum of fun without you.' I replied while redressing hoping, praying he will leave. ' Lexi! Wake up!' Lightly tapping her cheek in an attempt to wake her from her booze induced coma, to no avail. 'Lexi wake up or else I'm leaving you with Damon and his, horrific, machinations.' Damon feigned hurt at that.
'Stefan! Wake up for god's sake, I am too hungover to fight you on this.' I definitely wasn't in the mood for subtlety. 'Ok, Damon, why don't you fill us in on what the hell happened last night, short version if you please.'
'Uh uh, old man. Not until you say "pretty please with a cherry on top".'
'I am not in the mood for your petulant ego, Salvatore. Tell me, or else I get to find out how long a 150 year old vampire can live without his spine.' I looked in thought after, 'I'm guessing downwards of 15 seconds, but hey. All in the name of science, am I right?'
'Hey, hey all I wanted was to create a safe space for learning and understanding. Anyway, short version is you three idiots ended up buying the mystic grill and drinking it... all of it. It was quite the spectical trust me, the entire town came, saw. Hell, some created a betting pool over which one of you would die of alcohol poisoning first.'
'Some, or you?' I asked rhetorically, knowing the answer. Damon shrugged innocently. Uh huh. 'I bought the grill?'
'Yeah, after you guys refused to leave after the previous owners tried to cut you off, you came to an... accord of sorts. 10 minutes later, you ended up drinking the entire bar dry.'
'Shit. Elijah is going to kill me.'
'I can't wait to see that.' Lexi's pained voice sounds from behind me.
'Please, Rebekah will do the same to you and you know it, difference is, I can't die.'
'Fuck!'
Bonnie POV
I was in a forest, alone, afraid. Why am I here. I walked forward feeling drawn to something or someone, I come to realise as I saw her.
'Please help me.' She said cryptically.
'Who are you?' I asked, although knowing the answer.
'Im Emily, you know that.' She smiled, rather creepily. 'We're family.'
'Where am I?'
'This is where it all started, and this is where it will all end.'
'No this isn't real!' I denied before taking off, only to find Emily standing in front of me. I turned again just for the same to happen, she was standing there too.
'Help me, find Harald Mikaelson.' She said before I woke up in my math class, people looking strangely at me.
'What are you looking at? Turn around.' I asked the girl on my right rather rudely, although I was too weirded out to care.
I then looked towards the empty seat next to me only to find it wasn't empty any more, Emily was there staring, 'find Harald Mikaelson. He can help me.' That was when I woke up, for real this time. In the same forest in my dreams, only in my PJs this time. Who the hell is Harald Mikaelson?
3rd POV
Caroline and Elena were walking to school without any idea what had happened to their other best friend, 'Caroline, it's really great to have you back to normal. I really didn't like what Damon was doing to you.'
'Me neither. It's like I woke up and gained clarity, I realized that Damon wasn't worth it.'
'Definitely not.'
'Yeah, I met a guy at the party that really put my mind at peace, I think he was friends with Stefan too. I saw them together.' Caroline reminisces.
'Yeah, it was Stefan's birthday yesterday and he had some friends in town. He must have been one of them.' Elena was nervous, She didn't want her best friend around Stefan's friends, seeing as he was most likely a vampire. 'I wouldn't stick around Stefan's friend, Care. They are a bad crowd.'
'Why? Harry seemed so kind. I don't think he's that bad. Besides if he's Stefan's friend he can't be that bad.'
'Its just, I've learned some things that I don't want you to be apart of. I'd really prefer you weren't friendly with any of Stefan's crowd.'
'But why? What aren't you telling me Elena? From what I could tell Harry and Stefan are so kind and thoughtful.' Caroline was confused to no avail. What wasn't Elena telling her?
'Just, please. Stay away from Harry, Stefan and most importantly, Damon.'
'Trust me. I am going nowhere near Damon. I just wish you would tell me what is wrong with Harry?'
'The less you know, the better. Trust me.'
'You know, there comes a time when you need to stop making decisions for me Elena. I'm not a child, I can choose what I want to do with my life. If you aren't going to tell me what's wrong? Fine.' Caroline began to walk faster, Elena almost struggled to keep up. 'But trust has to go two ways, I deserve to choose how my life goes.' She finishes before taking off, Harry's words fresh in her mind. Her lifes decisions are hers, mistakes or otherwise.
(A/n Alaric's intro is the same. No change.)
Harry POV
'I know, Elijah and I'm sorry. Stefan's party just got a little out of control.' I said over the phone to one of my domineering older brothers.
'Oh I have realised how out of control that party has gotten, I'm looking at the deed for your new bar, you know, the one where you paid 4 times the asking price in solid gold.' I winced at that. Apparently, the previous owners of the Grill had been wanting to sell for a while and were more than happy to get the paperwork filed ASAP. Probably so I couldn't back down when I had sobered up.
'Ok, I get it. I screwed up and I'm sorry. What now?'
'Now Harald, it's time to pay the Piper so to speak.' I didn't like the sound of that. 'As punishment for using our accounts to buy a piece of shitty real estate in a small town for 6 million dollars...' I winced again at that. '...you, dear brother will be working at that bar and living in Mystic Falls until I have deemed you worthy of forgiveness.'
'Elijah, please. Isn't that a bit harsh, I mean, come on. We both know we can afford it.'
'Well, it is either that or I tell Niklaus and he can lock you in a box for the next 30 years, or I could just tell Rebekah and she'll string your by your entrails off the top of the Eiffel tower. Again.' That last one sent shivers down my spine. That was a tough couple of days, my god could that woman hold a grudge.
'Fine, I was thinking of sticking around a while anyway. This place seems interesting.' My mind instantly went to Elena and the fact that Katerina was apparently still alive. That definitely required investigation.
'Oh and one more thing.' I replied with a yeah. 'For allowing you to make such a incompetent deal, Alexia will be joining you on your 'sentence'.'
Lexi, who was obviously eavesdropping from another room of the Salvatore boardinghouse, screamed out in a resounding, 'Shit!'
Bonnie POV
'And then she tells me to find some guy, before I wake up in the woods near old fells church.' I know it's crazy, seeing my long dead ancestor telling me she needs my help. Sleep walking to a burned down church.
'And you always see you ancestor, Emily?' I nodded. 'Huh.' was her reply.
'Do you believe in ghosts?' I asked and Elena looked conflicted, before answering.
'Two weeks ago, I would have said no, but now?' I cut her off.
'I think I'm being haunted.'
'Why are you seeing Emily?' She asked.
'Grams said she was a powerful which in the civil war days and that this was her medallion. A witch's talisman.'
'And it all started when you got the necklace?'
'I think she's using it to talk to me.' I had long since resigned myself to the insanity of my situation.
'Now she wants me to help her with whatever it is she wants. I don't know, all I know is she wants me to find some guy named Harald Mikaelson.' Elena looked surprised at the named, like she knew it. 'What?'
'Do you mean Harry Mikaelson? Stefan's friend that just came to town?' Elena seemed nervous to tell me that much but I had to press the issue. 'I don't know much, just that he's an old friend of Stefan that came for his birthday with another girl, Lexi. Apparently they have been friends for a very long time. Like decades.' I could tell she was having trouble saying that.
'I need to talk to him.' I blurted out.
'I don't think that's a good idea, Bonnie.'
'You don't understand this may be my only chance of getting rid of Emily, I have to try.' Elena relented.
'Okay, but you have to be careful, I don't know what this guy is like.' She warned before dialling Stefan, after a few seconds she spoke into the phone, 'Hey.' 'yeah it's good to hear from you too.' 'No, actually I need a favour.' 'No nothing like that, actually Bonnie wants to speak to your friend, Harry?' 'Really? How did that happen?' 'Ok, I'll see you there later then.'
'Well?' I asked kind of out of the loop.
'Apperently, Harry is taking over ownership of the Grill and we can meet with him there.' Now, with any luck, I'll be able to sleep tonight.
3rd POV
'So,' The original vampire asked his first guests of his new restaurant. 'What do you think?'
'Its amazing!' The entire place was redone, the previously choppy wood flooring was replaced with new hardwood floors. The walls that were previously covered in wall paper were stripped to add a warm feeling to the place. The bar was replaced with what appears to be a state of the art setup. Brand new chairs and tables that looked to be extremely expensive. 'How is this possible? You've been owner for like a day?' Elena asked impressed with the vampire's haste.
'Oh, when you're as old as I am you gain a lot of pull in society. My coffers are overflowing to say the least. Setting this up is childs play, and I rarely do anything half assed.' He boasts unashamedly from behind the bar busiedly mixing various drink at an incredible speed. Pouring out three glasses of the mystery liquid for the ladies and himself. 'May I present to you, the new and improved, Mystic grill. As for our signature drink, The Original Sin.' He seemed to laugh at his own joke, I don't understand why though. 'Enjoy.' He said before plopping a straw into the ruby coloured concoction before the two humans.
'It looks like blood.' Elena spoke, staring at the strange liquid.
Harry smirked and nods, 'that is by design.' Elena looked alarmed. 'Its not obviously, just a little inside joke between me and my siblings the first time I made this. It just looks like that to fit in with the brand, you know. Vampire and everything.
'We're underaged,' Elena says pushing the drink away. Harry tries to pretend not to look insulted.
'Please, you're teenagers. Like that has ever stopped you before, besides, their non alcoholic. I can't get two teenagers drunk on my first day of the job.' Harry pushes the drink back towards them. 'Come on their no poison or any thing. I just want to see what you think.' He reassured before taking a sip of his own drink. Bonnie takes the first leap, taking a measured taste before moaning in delight.
'That is amazing! So fruity.' Elena begrudgingly does the same and has a similar reaction.
'It really is.' Harry apparently hears something and begins to grab a glass and uses a beer tap to fill it before leaving it at the side of where he is standing. Lexi suddenly appears with four plates filled with heavenly smelling burgers and fries.
'Order up.' The blond vampire joked before placing one down for each person.
'You really didn't need to-' Bonnie begins until Harry cuts her off.
'Nonsense, it's on the house. Besides we need to test these things before we open up properly tomorrow.' Bon Appetit!' Before both he and Lexi lift their burgers and take a bite of it.
'A little dry, could use some more sauce to keep it moist.' Lexi determined.
'Some more lettuce as well couldn't hurt. Add some freshness.'
Bonnie shrugged and took a bite of her own, It was probably the best burger she has ever had, 'thats amazing.'
'Thank you, Bonnie. So I should probably ask, what it is you came to see little old me for?' Before carrying on with eating, Elena finally joined him, obviously enjoying it tremendously.
'Ive been having dreams, really weird dreams. I was hoping you could help make them stop.'
'Okay, I don't know what I can do but, tell me more.'
'Elena tells me that you are a vampire.' Harry shrugs. 'So I guess, you know about witches as well?'
'More than most, used to be one. That was an extremely long time ago.'
'Well, I think I'm being possessed by one, my ancestor, Emily Bennett.' Harry almost spat up at that and looked at Lexi.
'You think it's possible, that she's here?'
'If Bonnie was born here then its a definite possibility.' Lexi reasoned. Both then looked back at Bonnie
'Tell me, Bonnie. You wouldn't happen to know a Sheila Bennett, now would you?' He asked with all his charm barely hiding the desperation in his eyes
'My grams? You know each other?'
'Id say so... Is she ok? Happy?' He asked with genuine, deep care and respect in his voice.
'Yeah,' Bonnie said apprehensively. 'She's great, she teaches occult studies at Whitmore and has been teaching about my magic for a while now.'
'Yeah? That's great, she deserves it.' He smiles fondly. 'Anyway, I'm not sure how I can help with this Emily, I've never met her before?'
'Im not sure either, she just told me in a dream to help her and to find 'Harald Mikaelson', beyond that I have no idea. I'm guessing it has something to do with old Fells church out in the woods.'
That took him out of his thoughts of Sheila Bennett for now. 'Old fells church?' Bonnie nodded. 'Oh, Okay I know what this is about. Sure I can help.'
'Wait, really?'
He nods. 'Yeah, but first.' He nods to his blond companion to get up. 'We need to go pay your 'Grams' a visit.'
'Yes, I know I screwed up Bekah, I bought the bar when I was incredibly pissed. (slang for drunk) But that doesn't matter right now and you know it, just get here, please I'll explain everything.' 'Yeah, me too.' 'See you then.'
He tells Lexi, 'Okay Bekah will be here in a few days.' Lexi nodded.
'Are you ready?' His best friend asks.
'Are you? We haven't seen her since she was 23. Who knows how she'll react.'
'Only time will tell I guess.'
'Can someone please tell me what is going on? How do you know my Grams?'
'You're about to find out.' Lexi says cryptically. Harry knocks on the door, before speeding Bonnie directly in front of the door.
'Its probably for the best she sees you first.' Harry says at seeing Bonnie's confused and surprised face, before taking a step back.
The door opens to reveal Sheila Bennett, 'Bonnie!' Sheila says in surprise. 'What are you doing here? Our next lesson isn't until yesterday?' She looks around to see a a black haired man and a woman with long blond hair reaching to her low back, their backs turned to her and they seem to be bickering she also sees Elena standing there awkwardly. 'Hello Elena dear. Who're they?' Pointing to the strangers with their backs turned which in turn stiffened.
'Hi miss Sheila!' Elena greets. 'We were actually hoping that you would tell us.'
The strangers turned towards the aging witch who almost had a heart attack. Two faces she hoped to never see again, but that she had missed so much.
'Aunt Lexi?' The female vampire waved awkwardly.
'Hi Shelley.'
'Hello sweetheart.' Harry speaks first when Sheila looked at him, too much in shock to say anything to him.
'Dad.' She finally says to the surprise of those present not in the know. This is going to be a long family reunion.
so... what do you think? Comment with any pairing ideas like usual. Sorry for the wait, I have been trying to write this for a while but school got in the way, don't you hate when that happens? I'm self isolating now anyway so I should be able to write a few chapters. I've changed the canon a tiny bit because of the continuity errors. I'm pretty sure Abbey, Bonnie's mother was born when Sheila was like 14, which I don't understand. Now, Sheila is five years older than canon. Hope that fixes some things. see you next time.
