Present Day

Kunugigaoka City
Inside the Academy, 6:30am.
"Beginning of Kunugigaoka Academy"

In Kunugigaoka City, there is a boarding school named "Kunugigaoka Academy" that teaches children how to become Pokémon trainers along with their usual school subjects, such "Advanced Martial Arts," a subject used for Fighting-type Specialists, and "Pyrotechnics," a more advanced subject suitable for those who loved Fire-type Pokémon and attacks. Once a student graduated from Kunugigaoka Academy, they would get a starting Pokémon and begin their professional training career by journeying across the entire region of Kunu. Although anybody can become a trainer, only those who met qualifications and rules can participate and compete in professional leagues. To become qualified of entering the Pokémon League, only trainers who have at least a minimum number of eight gym badges from leaders appointed around Vale and accepted to become a participant in the league. Today was graduation day at Kunugigaoka Academy, and so many trainers were now going to begin the first step in their long journey.

One of them is being a girl by the name of Kiyoko Akabane. Also known as "Karma's kid sister," she has a gift for observation and talent, and retained her cleverness to that of her brother, Karma. After years of studying everything that is Pokémon-related, boring nonsense, and some unusual stuff, Kiyoko finally was going to become a Pokémon trainer. She rushed quickly in the washroom, showered, brushed her teeth, and got dressed all in record time without missing. She took her time accordingly and didn't care about being late in two minutes or less to her classes, but she didn't want to miss a single minute of her graduation ceremony. Once she was done, she burst open the door with great enthusiasm.

"Wow," gasped Kiyoko in awe. "I can't wait to see!"

"Hi, Kiyoko!" greeted someone behind Kiyoko, who looked at them in second.

"Hey, Onii-chan! Nice to see you!"

"Nice to see you, too, Kiyoko," said the one behind Kiyoko was her brother, Karma. "Come; let's go to choose your starter Pokémon, assigned by someone."

"Wait, someone?"

"Yep! That's the one."

As the two greet each other after exchanging thanks, they headed to the corridor to let Kiyoko choose her starter Pokémon.

"Kiyoko's Starter of Choice"

As the Akabane siblings headed to the corridor while inside the entire academy of Kunugigaoka, they met a special someone holding their box containing three Pokéballs containing three starter Pokémon. They met a face who is a researcher of Pokémon. The two surprised to see them of their looks.

"Wait," said Karma. "Isn't that-"

"Koro-sensei!" said Karma and Kiyoko in unison. "How did you-"

"Whoa, whoa, whoa!" said the researcher was Koro-sensei. "I'm now in a holographic form! Karma, Kiyoko! What brings you both here?"

"Well, she wants to become a Pokémon trainer like the rest of the characters in games," explained Karma. "I hope she'll become not only as strong as them, but as smart as I very well."

"Very good!" happily encouraged Koro-sensei, facing to Kiyoko after her brother Karma. "Kiyoko, I see why you're being chosen as a Pokémon trainer. Tell me why you chose that as a profession."

"As a trainer, I want to be a professional trainer like many others from their various Pokémon game versions," answered Kiyoko explanatorily. "As a professional Pokémon trainer, my mission is to battle gym leaders, earn gym badges, stop the villain team of their plans they're up to, and to go into the Pokémon League in order to beat the Elite Four and then the champion."

"That's the Kiyoko I'd like to hear," said Karma approvingly, giving his sister a fist bump. "Koro-sensei, Kiyoko will once become strong like the others. And to prove herself that she becomes the champion of the entire Kunu Region, she'll learn that of experience that she might improve."

"Good, Karma," said Koro-sensei. "Your kid sister might be as strong as many professional trainers, but one thing: She must have both potential and talent."

"Wait," asked Kiyoko. "You mean potential and talent?"

"Kiyoko, a Pokémon trainer like you must have potential and talent, and as well as strong bond of friendship, trust, and respect. Skill also is a must-have, too. Put your heart into it for effort. Don't give in to fear; have courage."

Hearing Koro-sensei's words made Kiyoko become more determined than ever as a professional Pokémon trainer. Karma, however, is quite pleased of his sister's courage from Koro-sensei's encouragement.

"Koro-sensei, I approve of what you said to my sister," encouraged Karma. "She'll become a professional trainer someday. Oh, you forgot to let her pick one of the starter Pokémon from your box."

"Oh, so sorry!" said an apologetic Koro-sensei, flustered from Karma's request. "I almost forgot!"

Koro-sensei opened the box, containing three starter Pokémon, in which awed at Kiyoko.

"Wow," said Kiyoko. "Three starters? But I only have to pick one…"

"Here're those three Pokémon, but you can only choose one. First one is Grookey, a Grass-type monkey full of energy and pep. Second is Scorbunny, a Fire-type rabbit capable of Mach speeds; high and deadly at projectile attacks with Fire-type moves but lacks breathing in flames. Last is Sobble-"

"Hold on," interrupted Karma alertly. "Sobble can cry because of its tears, which made anyone going near it cry."

"You're right! I should be extra careful! Sobble shoots Water Guns from its mouth."

Hearing Koro-sensei's explanation made Kiyoko pick a starter of choice with excitement.

"Oh, I know!" cheerily said Kiyoko. "I'll pick Sobble!"

"WHAT!?" exclaimed Koro-sensei about Kiyoko's pick. "You want Sobble!?"

"Calm down; it's just a Pokémon," calmly said Karma. "My sister here made the right choice; there's no need to panic. Go on, Kiyoko."

As Karma's explanation to Koro-sensei about Kiyoko's choice, Kiyoko picked Sobble as her starter Pokémon. He smiled at his sister for picking her favorite starter of choice.

"So it's a yes, then," finished Koro-sensei. "The starter you picked is now Sobble!"

Koro-sensei and Karma respectfully bowed at Kiyoko for her starter Pokémon is Sobble, whom she chose.

Kiyoko sent out Sobble from its Poké Ball. "Hi, Sobble."

With Kiyoko's glance, Sobble happily smiled at its trainer.

"Here," said Koro-sensei. "These are for you. Here's a starter kit."

Kiyoko received a starter kit from Koro-sensei, containing 10 Poké Balls, 10 Potions, and a Pokédex.

"What's that?" asked Kiyoko curiously.

"It's a Pokédex," said Koro-sensei. "It is a personal invention of mine, and I've modified it to help trainers on their journey. This electronically-built device allows you to record and identify Pokémon that are seen or caught you've come across, and thus providing a built-in map for the entire region, and several functions. Think of it as carrying a personal encyclopedia."

Kiyoko took out her Pokédex and pressed the power button, in which the button itself is colored green. After it was done booting up in a second, a sawtooth acorn suddenly appeared on the screen.

"Hello, trainer!" greeted the acorn as the screen was turned on after reboot. "What's your name?"

"Kiyoko Akabane," answered Kiyoko. "Who are you?"

"My name is Kunudon. I serve as the personal AI for the Pokédex. It will be a pleasure to help you!"

"Glad to have you aboard, Kunudon."

"Wow, Kunudon is the AI," said Karma. "I'm very happy to see that AI."

"Isn't it great?" happily said Koro-sensei. "You made your first step to becoming a trainer!"

Everyone made happy for Kiyoko about her starter she picked as well, and they are pleased well.

"Enter the Mysterious Silhouettes"

Somehow, on the outside, a silhouette of the three bad guys appeared outside the academy, with one holding their binoculars, as they winced about their past life.

"Not only we failed to steal that twerp's Pikachu," said the first one, "but we'll find our target soon enough."

"Agreed," said another. "We're about to steal not only that trainer's Pokémon, but the others as well for our boss."

"We'll get to it straight, fellas," said the third one. "We're about to take what's ours!"

All three laughed in unison.

"Final Scene"

As Karma and Kiyoko bid farewell to Koro-sensei while waving at him outside the academy, the two spent on each other walking and talking about how Sobble was chosen by Kiyoko.

"Onii-chan, does Sobble know some good moves?" asked Kiyoko.

"Oh, you want your Sobble to learn some powerful moves?" asked Karma, nudging his sister's head lightly with his hand. "Sure, let's learn a new move for Sobble."

"Yay!"

As Karma is happy about Kiyoko trying to learn a new move for her Sobble, he picked "Muddy Water" from his TM Case app.

"Wait, Muddy Water?" asked Kiyoko curiously about the move.

"Muddy Water is a great move for Sobble," said a knowledgeable Karma. "It can hit only enemies, even adjacent, not allies, unlike Surf. It lowers their accuracy, making them hard to hit your Sobble."

Kiyoko gasped in awe from her brother's knowledge about the Water-type move, Muddy Water.

"Here," said Karma, successfully learning the move for Kiyoko's Sobble. "That'll do it, but it takes mastery for you to let your Pokémon concentrate this move anytime."

"Thanks, Onii-chan," thanked Kiyoko. "This time, I'm going extreme mode."

"Wait, extreme mode?"

"Of course! Trainers who have played that mode are proved to both be the bravest and strongest among them."

"That's the Kiyoko I'd always trust." Karma gave his kid sister another fist bump as thanks. "You ready to face the toughest of adversities of all-time?"

Kiyoko accepted and shook her head politely. Karma smiled for his sister's hopes for success.

Kiyoko and Karma laughed while walking to head home. And the sinister shadow snooped at the two after their recon mission to watch them.
