"Doctor," Serephina greeted the man briefly, who greeted her with a quick nod. He appeared unharmed on the outside, turned off the machine, and then walked toward the group. "Well...the whole thing looks pretty awful," the doctor remarked briefly, looking around at the burning skyscrapers. "I've seen worse," Natasha interjected, shrugging her shoulders and looking calmly at the man in front of them. "I'm sorry." the physicist replied immediately, giving her a brief, sympathetic smile. "No, a little worse, we can well use:" replied Natasha and the younger saw the small smile on her lips. Barely noticeably, Serephina nudged Natasha and merely whispered, "Very subtle, Miss Romanoff.", whereupon both women began to grin.
"Stark, we got him.", Steve spoke into his commlink in passing, but then lowered his hand from the device again. "Tell him to get ready then, I'll bring the party to you.", no sooner had that sentence ended than Tony flew around the corner at the end of the block and behind him followed one of the giant whale creatures, paying no attention to buildings or damage. The thing rammed one of the buildings and took several levels with it.
"I don't see anything that looks like a party yet," Natasha noted quietly as she and the brunette reloaded. The men all tightened their grip on their weapons, ready to fight. Only Bruce turned to the creature, took a quiet breath, and took a few steps in Tony's direction. "Doctor Banner, this would be the perfect moment to get angry," the captain addressed the man for a moment longer. Bruce briefly looked over his shoulder as he continued walking and smiled briefly. "That's my secret, Captain. I'm always angry.", the sentence was just completed when Bruce's skin turned green and the Hulk took control. Without effort, the green creature struck the whale against its snout, stopping its movement. The momentum of the beast was so great that it rolled over Bruce, loosening the heavy metal pieces on its back. Tony seized the moment and fired a few small missiles at the thing.
Immediately, Steve pulled Serephina and Natasha to him and protected the three of them with his shield as the whale burst into flames. Serephina felt the heat of the explosion, but the heavy metal pieces simply bounced off the metal of the shield. The whale fell from the bridge and remained there, motionless.
Immediately, everyone rose again from their hiding places and lined up once more. Ready to fight. "Guys!" interjected Serephina a few seconds late. More of the whale creatures came out of the portal, as well as more of the individual aliens. She heard Thor take a soft breath, then Tony was heard again, "Call Cap."
"Okay, everybody, listen up. Let's keep these guys at bay until we can close the portal. Barton, they're going up to the roof as scouts. Report formations and lone wolves. Tony to the perimeter, push back anything more than three blocks away or turn it to ash." , he instructed the two men. Tony took the few steps to Barton and held him by his quiver. "Good hold, Legolas.", with that the two were off. Steve turned to the rest of the group, "Thor, try to form a bottleneck in front of the portal. Hold them off. Use your lightning and give those guys some real fire.", with that Thor also took off.
Natasha looked briefly at Serephina and then at Steve "The three of us stay down here and protect the people. And Hulk-", with that Steve turned to the creature. "Destroy it.", immediately the man began to grin and with a wide jump, he began to take care of the creatures on the walls of the house.
Steve, Natasha and Serephina had stayed on the ground, with Steve moving a few streets away. Natasha had been pinned to a hood by one of the creatures and was gasping for air before Serephina swung her legs around the creature's neck and rammed one of the spears lying around everywhere into its head. Immediately, the creature fell to the ground. Natasha breathed a sigh of relief and was slow to sit up again. The brunette stood up again and supported the woman for a few seconds. "All this won't do any good at all if we don't close the portal," the woman whispered irritably. "And how are we going to shut off pure energy?" replied Serephina quietly. "I have an idea," the older woman looked up at the portal. Serephina hesitated briefly but then nodded.
Above them, some of the chariots whizzed away. "Then we'll give you a ride," the two women stepped into the middle of the street. Serephina put her hands together, on which Natasha put a foot.
"This is going to be fun!" the woman still whispered before she shouted 'Now!" and Serephina catapulted her into the air with all her strength. Natasha got a hold of the cart and disappeared with it between the buildings. A disbelieving laugh escaped Serephina, this was really crazy. But as quickly as this brief euphoria arose, it was gone.
