Jackie sat on her bed, looking at the tattoo. It was on the inside of her left forearm. It had been there since her birth.

It depicted a pudding pop. She had no idea who it represented. Who on earth was represented by a frozen treat?

She used to think it was Michael. But the tattoo had never gone away, no matter how in love with him she thought she was. His had never gone away either. His was a book.

Now, she wasn't sure. She knew who she wanted it to be. But it was too soon to go assuming things. She'd only started fooling around with the guy a week ago. And he wouldn't want her. He'd turned her down before. They were only fooling around because it was convenient for the summer.

Jackie decided to just enjoy the summer. She shouldn't worry about her soulmate. She'd meet him eventually. For now, she could just have fun.

Hyde frowned at the tattoo on the inside of his right forearm. It was fading, which meant he was fucked.

The tattoo depicted a cartoonish sun. It was simple, but that didn't make it hard for Hyde to know who it was. The way it was fading gave him a big clue.

Soulmate tattoos disappeared when you fell in love with your soulmate. Forman's ink depiction of two houses had long since disappeared, along with Donna's Vista Cruiser. Hyde's fading sun meant he was falling in love. And he knew exactly who he was falling for.

Her name was Jackie Burkhart, and he had never seen her soulmate tattoo.

If she saw his- or the eventual lack of his- she would have questions. She would want to know if he was in love with someone else while he was fooling around with her or if he was in love with her.

He sighed. He'd burn that bridge when he got to it.

Hyde could hear vague cheering from the television. Someone had probably won a game or guessed the price of whatever the thing was. Hyde didn't care. He was far more occupied by Jackie's lips on his and her hands in his hair.

She gave him one last lingering kiss, then pulled away. Her face was flushed. "God, it gets hot down here."

"Well yeah, it tends to get hot when you make out with someone in the middle of summer," Hyde teased.

She giggled. He wanted to hear that giggle every single day. She laid back on the couch, smoothing out her dress. "How much do you believe in soulmates? Like, do you really think everyone falls in love with their soulmate?"

Hyde shrugged. "I think it depends. I don't think it's easy to find your soulmate or to make it work with them. But I think everyone loves their soulmate."

Jackie nodded. "See, I have no idea who mine could be. I thought it was Michael for a while, then… Now I just don't know." She looked at the inside of her left forearm. She showed him the small pudding pop. "That tells me nothing."

"It tells you that the guy likes pudding pops," Hyde said. He liked them. It was his go-to treat in the summer.

"That could be anybody." She withdrew her arm. "What's yours?"

Nerves grew in his stomach as he offered his right arm to her. She traced her fingers over the fading sun. "It's fading… You're already falling in love with her." She looked up at him. "You must know who it is."

He swallowed. "Yeah."

"Is it…?" She didn't say it out loud, but he could tell she was asking if it was her. He could feel it, inexplicably.

"Yeah," he said, hoping she understood.

She must have understood, because she grinned and practically tackled him in a hug. He fell back against the couch, wrapping his arms around her reflexively. She pulled back just enough to look at him. "Do you think the pudding pop I have is you?"

"I hope so. It would kinda suck to have an unreciprocated soulmate."

"I hope it's you too." She kissed him. "We'll find out."

"Yeah, we will." Hyde kissed her again, taking advantage of the fact that she was now on top of him. She giggled against his lips and he forced himself not to smile into the kiss.

Jackie was in Steven's room, sitting next to him on his bed. His left arm was wrapped around her shoulders. Her legs were draped over his lap. Led Zeppelin was playing on the stereo.

Steven was talking about the album. Or he had been at one point. "But when you really compare Bonham's drumming to other bands, it's clear how talented he is. And combined with the other elements of the music, Zeppelin has such a distinct rock and roll sound that it's impossible to deny they are one of the biggest influences on music today."

Jackie smiled at him. "I love listening to you talk about music." He opened his mouth, but no words came out. She felt a little tingling in her arm, and she looked at her tattoo. It was fading. She smiled and showed it to Steven. "It's definitely you."

He smiled and took her hand, pressing a soft kiss to her knuckles. She looked at his tattoo. There was only a faint hint of the cartoon sun.

"Since we're really soulmates…" she smiled, happy to have finally found her soulmate, "do you want to be my boyfriend?"

He glanced between her and his barely-still-existent tattoo. "No, Jackie, I don't want to be your boyfriend. I'm only days away from falling completely in love with you, why would I want to be your boyfriend?" His words were dripping with sarcasm.

Jackie rolled her eyes, laughing. "Okay, fine, stupid question." She looked at him more seriously. "Are you really only days away from being in love with me?"

His smile softened from teasing to nervous. "Yeah. Even without the tattoo telling me, I'd know it. I'd probably deny it if there wasn't obvious evidence."

She pushed him lightly, and he chuckled. "Well, I'm falling for you too… Puddin Pop."

He grimaced. "Is that gonna become a regular thing?"

"It is now," she said with a grin.

"Okay, just not in public… Sunshine."

"Deal." She kissed his cheek. "And I like that pet name a lot."

"Mhm." He kissed her deeply, running his fingers along her jaw. She was so glad he was her soulmate. She was a little scared, but she was excited for what the future would bring.

"I don't get why he has to fly to California to get her back," Hyde said. "She's coming back at the end of summer anyway."

"It's about the romantic gesture, Steven," Jackie said. "He has to show her he cares about her enough to risk getting in trouble. That he wants to be with her so badly that he goes to her instead of waiting for her to come back."

"Exactly," Fez agreed, sitting on Jackie's other side in the front bench of the El Camino. "She wants him to come and prove to her that he will fight for their relationship."

Hyde shook his head. "You guys are weird."

"We're not weird," Jackie said. "You just don't get it. You've never been in a long-term relationship before. Think about your soulmate. If she was gone, wouldn't you go to her?"

Hyde smirked at her. "Nah. 'Cause she'd be coming back eventually. And I could fight for her then." He parked at the airport. The three of them got out. They were buying a ticket for Forman, to California.

"Oh, you are so unromantic," Jackie said.

He gave her a look. Just yesterday, he'd told her he was nearly in love with her and given her a pet name. How was that unromantic?

They approached the front desk. "One ticket for the next flight to California, please," Hyde said.

The attendant gave him the ticket once he paid. The three of them started the walk back to the Camino. "We didn't need all three of us to get this ticket," Hyde said.

"No," Fez agreed. "But it was a fun outing. Besides, you wanted to spend time with Jackie, and it would have looked suspicious if you went with her alone. I had to be a buffer."

They all stopped short in the parking lot. Hyde and Jackie stared at Fez. "How do you know?" Jackie asked.

"I heard you talking in Hyde's room the other day. I know you are soulmates. Plus, both of your tattoos are fading. I can put two and two together."

"Huh. Well, then." Hyde slipped his arm around Jackie's shoulders. "Let's get this ticket to Forman so he can go on his romantic quest."

Jackie giggled against Steven's lips. They were in the basement, making out. His tattoo was gone. He hadn't said he loved her, but he didn't need to. The lack of sun on his arm was enough.

The door opened, causing Jackie and Steve to split apart. They looked up to see Eric and Donna, gaping at them. "I'm blind!" Eric exclaimed.

"Shut up," Steven said. "You've seen people make out before."

"Not you and her!" Eric pointed out.

"When did this start? And why?" Donna asked.

Steven and Jackie rearranged themselves on the couch, sitting normally together. He slipped his arm around her shoulders as she answered, "Started at the beginning of summer. Because we were bored. But then we found out that we're soulmates."

Eric's eyes were practically bulging out of his head. "Soulmates?"

Steven nodded and showed them his arm, free of any soulmate ink. Jackie showed off her mostly faded pudding pop tattoo.

"You're in love with her?" Eric and Donna exclaimed to Steven.

"Yeah," Steven said, as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. She smiled and kissed the side of his face.

The basement door opened again, and Michael practically fell into the basement. "Guys, I just-" His eyes landed on Jackie and Steven, cuddled together on the couch. "What the hell is going on?"

Steven and Jackie showed him their arms. "Soulmates," they said at the same time.

"What? No way! You two hate each other!"

"Obviously that's not true anymore," Jackie said.

"I guess not," Michael said. "Anyway, I just realized I forgot my license in California!"

"I'll take you to the DMV tomorrow," Steven said.

"Wait, wait, we're just glossing over Jackie and Hyde being soulmates?" Eric asked.

Fez walked in as Eric was talking. "Oh, you found out?"

"Fez knew?" Eric, Donna and Michael asked.

"Yeah, he heard us talking in Steven's room," Jackie said.

Fez nodded. "I think they go together very well."

"They kind of do," Donna said.

"We really do," Jackie said, smiling at Steven. He smiled back at her.

Hyde was in his room, reading Rolling Stone and listening to The Rolling Stones. It was Saturday, and he was enjoying his time off from school. Later, he and Jackie were going out.

Forman shouted through his closed door, "Hyde, Jackie's on the phone for you!"

"Coming!" Hyde put his magazine down and left his room. He picked up the phone as Forman sat on the couch. "Hey, Jackie."

"Hi, Puddin. I can't wait to see you tonight. What's the plan? I wanna know what I should wear."

"Uh… I didn't have a plan. What did you wanna do?"

"You didn't have a plan for your first date with her?" Forman whisper-asked.

"Shut up," Hyde hissed at him, making sure Jackie didn't hear.

She answered his question, "What about dinner? Not at the Hub."

"Okay… How about that new place? The Park Diner?"

"Sounds good. I really am excited to go on a real date with you. I know it'll be great."

"It will be great. 'Cause it's with you, Sunshine."

"Aww," Forman crooned softly. Hyde glared at him.

"You're so sweet, Puddin! I'll see you soon. Love you!" She hung up.

"Wait, don't-" Hyde still held the phone to his ear, off put. She had just told him she loved him for the first time. Over the phone. Without letting him respond. "She hung up on me." He put the phone down slowly.

"What? Why?" Forman asked.

"I don't know. I have to go." Hyde left the basement, intent on getting to Jackie's early to talk to her.

Jackie fluffed her hair. She'd just finished getting dressed for her date with Steven. And just in time, she thought as the doorbell rang. She went downstairs to get it. Steven was standing outside, not dressed properly for the date. "Why did you say that?" he asked, clearly nervous.

"Why did I say what? I say a lot of things, Steven."

"You said you love me and then you hung up on me."

"Oh." Jackie shrugged. "I guess it just slipped out. I noticed my tattoo was gone earlier today. Sorry I didn't tell you in person."

"How could you not realize you said it?" he asked, smiling.

"You might not like that answer."

His smile faded. "What is it?"

"I told Michael I loved him all the time. Eventually, it just became a habit. So, it just slipped out. That doesn't mean I don't love you! Because I do love you. A lot. You're my soulmate, after all, it would be weird if I didn't love you-"

He cut her off by kissing her deeply. He gently pushed her inside the house and closed the door behind them, never taking his lips off hers. When they finally parted, he said, "I love you too."

Jackie cradled the sides of his face in her hands. "Y'know… My parents are out tonight. Maybe we don't have to go out. You're not dressed right for it, anyway."

"You mean…?"

Jackie nodded. "You wanna go to my room, Puddin Pop?"

"Hell yeah, Sunshine." He kissed her again, sweeter this time. She was so glad he was her soulmate.
