Kate and Grills are the last to exit the scene of a recent four alarm fire. Their suits are covered in soot and char marks, and their faces are drenched in sweat. They remove their packs and place them securely back on the truck. Grills is the first to give the rookie a congratulatory pat on the her shoulder, followed by the other members in their squad. That makes the senior firefighter grin with pride at his trainee.

The rookie stares longingly at her phone. A action that Grill has observed for the eleventh time in the past two hours. Glancing into crowd, a young woman suddenly grabs his attention. Grills points at himself, but the girl shakes her head then points to his protege. Kate is preoccupied however, tossing her jacket into the truck and keeping her eyes locked on her screen.

"Yo, I think that girl is trying to get your attention," Grills says, using his hand to block Kate's view of her phone.

Kate glances at the girl, "I don't recognize her," she says, before returning to her previous activity.

"Yeah, but I think she wants to know you," Grills says- he grabs the phone from her hand- "I know I may have just risked my life, but I think you should at least see what she wants. She looks a bit desperate waving like that," he says.

The rookie drags her reluctant feet toward the woman, who smiles enthusiastically as draws closer. It's a smile so infectious that Kate feels obligated to generate a similar grin. Kate scans the lengthy blonde, her ocean blue eyes, long toned legs, and fair skin. The onlooker eagerly extends her arm to Kate and the two share an awkward handshake.

"Hi, I hate to bother you," the woman starts, "I was wondering if I could get a photo of you to send to my niece, she wants to be a firefighter when she gets older, and I want to support her in that. I think if I could get a photo with you to send her that it would have a good effect on her self-esteem an-

"Whoa... that's a lot of words," Kate interrupts, "My name is Kate, and I would be happy to take a picture for your niece."

"I'm sorry, I'm Kerry, thank you so much," she says. Kate poses with her hands gripping her suspenders and the woman takes a quick snap. She invites the firefighter to critique her photography skills. Kate gives her a thumbs up and nods. "I should keep a copy for myself," Kerry blurts out.

Kate tries to bite back a smile, but Kerry's blush makes her giggle. "I can pretend like I didn't hear that if you want," she tells woman.

"That be great, but it be even better if I could get your number," Kerry says.

Kate draws back and grits her teeth, "I'm flattered, really, but I'm devoted to, and enamored with another," she says with Shakespearian flare.

"Well okay then, but it's still a pleasure to have met you," Kerry says, bowing off into the crowd.

Grills pulls up behind Kate, "Why didn't you tell me that you and Yelena are officially a thing?" he asks.

"Yeah, about that," Kate says. The two of them walk back to the truck.
