A/N: This is basically a rewrite of "Auror Longbottom" I will keep "Auror Longbottom '' up as its not a bad story, but this is just an improved version of it. Hope you enjoy!
December 1981
Bellatrix Lestrange had lost her mind. Not like she really ever had it these days, but she really lost it.
Lord Voldemort had fallen because of Lily Potter's sacrifice to protect her baby son, Harry James Potter. James and Lily Potter both lost their lives that night, but they were glad to die if it meant their son would live and have a chance at life.
Bellatrix couldn't accept it. She refused to accept the defeat and fall of her Master. It would not do for her. She thought perhaps their little spy, Peter Pettigrew, or Wormtail as he was referred to, gave them false information. Information that caused the deaths of the Potters and allowed them to capture the Dark Lord.
But she couldn't get to Pettigrew. Her disowned cousin, Sirius, seemed to have dealt with the little rat and ended up thrown in Azkaban for it. Bellatrix saw it as two less people she'd have to deal with.
Bellatrix knew if she wanted to find out about her Master's whereabouts, she'd have to get one of the higher up Aurors. She picked Frank and Alice Longbottom. It seemed rather ironic, since the prophecy was believed to apply to either Harry Potter or Neville Longbottom. The Longbottoms probably thought they were in the clear now. When in reality, they were far from it.
Bellatrix had been planning this ever since November. She'd strike when dear old Frank was alone and unsuspecting. She didn't care to get Alice though.
She had been watching Frank from afar. He was headed towards the woods, perhaps going for an evening walk.
'Perfect,' Bellatrix thought to herself. 'I'll get him now. I won't miss my chance. I'll get him and get the Dark Lord back.'
The dark dressed Bellatrix started walking towards the woods to follow Frank. They were going deeper and deeper into the woods. Which was perfect for Bellatrix, it meant Frank wouldn't be able to run back to his home to get away. She'd have him trapped there.
Frank must've heard her footsteps as he turned around and said, "Hello? Is anybody there?"
Bellatrix pulled her wand out and laughed.
"Who's there?" Frank asked once again.
Bellatrix stepped forward and came out of her hiding spot.
"Hello Frank." Bellatrix said, slightly taunting him.
"Bellatrix Lestrange." Frank said, grabbing his wand.
"Expelliarmus!" Bellatrix quickly casted the spell to disarm Frank.
She stepped closer. "You won't be needing that wand. I just want to talk."
A darkly dressed man with a cloak appeared next to Bellatrix. Rodolphus Lestrange, Bellatrix's husband, was just as insane as his wife. They made the perfect pair when it came to torturing people.
"Rabastan and Barty are here too." Rodolphus said.
"Good. They can keep an eye out for Alice. When she comes looking for her husband, they can bring her to where we'll be." Bellatrix smiled.
"No! Leave Alice alone!" Frank pleaded.
Bellatrix and Rodolphus laughed.
"If you play nice, then we'll consider sparing her." Rodolphus said.
Bellatrix and Rodolphus grabbed Frank, then disapparted away to one of the secret places the Death Eaters used to...get information from their victims.
The building was dimly lit and freezing cold. It was rather eerie, but it was hidden and that's all Bellatrix really needed.
Bellatrix and Rodolphus threw Frank harshly to the cold floor. Bellatrix smiled at the sight. She was going to have fun with this one.
"Tell me where the Dark Lord is and I'll consider letting you live." Bellatrix offered.
"I do not know what you're talking about, Bellatrix." Frank replied.
"Wrong answer." Rodolphus said, pointing his wand at Frank.
The Lestranges pointed their wands at Frank and spoke the same spell at the same time.
"CRUCIO!"
Frank fell over in pain. Unbearable pain hit him. Having the cruciatus curse casted on you by one person was painful enough, but Frank had two people doing it and they really meant to cause him pain.
"TELL US WHERE THE DARK LORD IS YOU FILTHY BLOOD TRAITOR!" Bellatrix screamed.
Frank's screams in pure pain and agony filled the building. He was starting to bleed from the curse. He didn't beg for mercy. He refused to beg them for mercy on him. Besides, he knew he would never get it.
After what felt like an eternity, Bellatrix and Rodolphus stopped the curse. Frank layed on the floor, bleeding and very slowly feeling the physical pain ease off.
But the moment that could barely be described as peaceful, was soon over. The Lestrange couple casted the spell and continued to scream at Frank.
"WHERE IS THE DARK LORD YOU DISGUSTING FILTHY TRAITOR!" Rodolphus screamed.
Bellatrix and Rodolphus never let up on Frank. They kept their wands pointed at him and kept screaming "CRUCIO!".
But when they finally did stop, they realized that they had essentially driven Frank to insanity with all of the pain they put him through. Frank was still breathing, but one look at him could tell he wasn't really there.
Then Rabastan and Barty came with Alice.
"Where is he? What have you done to him?" Alice questioned the two Death Eaters that brought her.
"Go see for yourself, blood traitor whore!" Rabastan shoved Alice forward harshly.
She rushed over to where she saw what appeared to be a man lying down on the cold, hard floor. When she realized it was Frank, she sped up and cried out.
"Frank! Frank, darling I'm here." Alice said softly.
Frank's eyes stared through her. His eyes were empty. It was like Frank was there, but he wasn't actually present. Alice was devastated.
"Oh darling, I wouldn't waste my time with that. Poor Frank's been like that for quite a while now. You're too late." Bellatrix said.
Alice wanted to cry. She wanted to cry, scream, throw curses. But she would not cry in front of Bellatrix or any other Death Eater. She would instead fight. She would fight for Frank, herself, and most importantly, Neville. Her sweet, brave little boy.
"Now, I want to make a little deal with you. If you tell me where the dark lord is, I will consider not killing you or your precious son, Neville, in an extremely painful manner." Bellatrix said.
"You won't ever touch my boy, you insane bitch! I do not know where the dark lord is and even if I did, I'd never tell you!" Alice declared.
This only pushed Bellatrix's anger further.
"Filthy, disgusting, blood traitor! How dare you! CRUCIO!" Bellatrix snapped once more.
Alice didn't want to scream. She didn't want to give Bellatrix or any Death Eater for that matter that kind of satisfaction, but she couldn't help it.
"Crucio!" Rodolphus joined in.
That only made poor Alice's pain worse. Rabastan and Barty joined in to help torture Alice. Frank was already pushed to the point of no return, so all four Death Eaters could focus on Alice and push her to that exact same point too.
Eventually, the Death Eaters stopped. Alice's screams stopped and she laid there on the ground, same as her husband. She was still alive, but her eyes didn't show much life there.
Before the Death Eaters could inflict anymore torture, Albus Dumbledore, Aurors, and Order of The Phoenix members showed up.
There was no duel. Bellatrix, Rodolphus, Rabastan, and Barty knew they were outnumbered. They knew it would be suicide to fight. So they willingly surrendered at that moment.
Because they knew. They knew their master, the dark lord, Lord Voldemort would return one day. They believed in him deeply.
Frank and Alice Longbottom suffered a fate worse than death. They would have a room at St. Mungo's together. They couldn't talk, couldn't understand, couldn't walk, they couldn't do anything.
But in the end, Frank and Alice would have been happy. Happy to know that their little boy, their son, Neville, would be safe. And at the end of the day, that's all they really cared about.
