"Celadon City! Finally!" Cassie exclaimed seeing the sign gate.
"It's been a long and tiresome trip, but we're finally here." Ash said.
"Hold it!" A boys voice cried out.
"You can't enter Celadon without paying a fee." A girls voice said.
"Or pay the ultimate price." Another boy's voice said.
"What's this ultimate price?" Ash asked.
"A battle." Another girl said.
"Against all of us!" A third boy said.
"Okay, I accept!" Ash said.
"Ash, you've never fought this many trainers in a row, are you sure?" Cassie asked.
"It'll be a good warm up for the gym." Ash said. "Oddish you're up first!"
"Then I'm first as well! Come on out Paras!" A girl in pigtails said.
"Oddish use Acid!"
"Paras use Stun Spore!"
Yellowish spore launched out of Paras's mushrooms as Oddish launched his attack forward, brushing off the spores with ease. Paras on the other hand didn't seem to be doing too well already.
"Paras use Scratch!"
"Oddish use Acid again!"
Paras scuttled forward only to get blasted by Oddish's attack once again, stopping the bug type in its tracks.
"There's no way I'm already out! You must have cheated!" The girl said, returning her Paras. "Cheaters never win so you should give up now while you have a chance."
"Not happening." Ash said. "Oddish stay in for now."
"I'll stop you right here. Come on out Kakuna!" A young boy with blonde hair said.
The yellow bug appeared on the field, only to fall over onto its side.
"I almost feel bad for Oddish at this point." Cassie said.
"Oddish, use Absorb." Ash said.
Even Oddish was confused, he'd gone from fighting for his life to, well, things that made him look strong.
"Kakuna use Harden!"
Oddish began draining the energy of the motionless Kakuna, until finally the Kakuna spassed out and flipped on its back.
"I think I won?" Ash said, still confused. Was this a pre gym trial? Or was it a false sense of security. "Oddish, let's give Jigglypuff a chance."
"Hey you can't switch!" A new girl said, her red hair in a braid.
"I just took out two of your friends Pokemon with ease, I'm pretty sure switching might give you an advantage." Ash said. "Jigglypuff let's go."
"Come on out Nidoran!" The girl called out.
The female Nidoran popped out of its Pokeball, looking a bit stronger than the last two opponents, maybe they were a threat.
"Jigglypuff use Pound!"
"Nidoran use Tail Whip!"
Jigglypuff waddled up and slapped Nidoran back and forth as the poison type brushed her tail up against Jigglypuff.
"Nidoran use Scratch!"
"Jigglypuff use Disable!"
Nidoran stopped mid attack, seemingly stuck in its spot.
"Now use Pound!"
"Nidoran use Tackle!"
Nidoran broke free, launching at Jigglypuff, only for the pink Pokémon to strike the poison type with her microphone, launching the Nidoran into the air.
"Jigglypuff use Pound again!"
As Nidoran drew closer to the ground, Jigglypuff puffed up and slapped her to the ground.
"Nidoran!" The girl cried. "You big meanie!"
"You all challenged me!" Ash exclaimed.
"And it will end here. Come on out Venonat!" A boy with moppy brown hair said with confidence.
"Said almost all of you." Cassie commented sarcastically.
"Jigglypuff use Pound!"
"Venonat use Disable!"
Jigglypuff stopped mid attack as if her muscles were unable to do anything anymore.
"Venonat use Tackle!"
"Jigglypuff sing!" Ash called out.
Jigglypuff sang into her microphone as Venonant's antenna dropped as it fell to sleep. Jigglypuff wasted no time opening up her marker and letting her inner artist have some fun on her sleeping target.
"What is your Jigglypuff doing?" The boy asked.
"What she does best." Ash said. "Now try another Pound!"
Jigglypuff lined up the stub that is her arm above the target she drew on top of Venonat's head, before slamming it down on the bug type.
"Venonat wake up!"
"Jigglypuff use Pound again!"
Jigglypuff kept up her assault of slamming Venonat on its head before the bug fell over again this time in defeat.
"Now it's getting serious." A slightly older girl said. "Come on out Abra!"
"Jigglypuff take five, Pikachu you're up! Use Quick Attack!"
"Abra use Teleport!"
Pikachu sped forward but by the time he got there, Abra was mysteriously gone.
"Up on the gate! Pikachu hit it with Thunderbolt!"
"Abra use Teleport again!"
Abra easily dodged Pikachu's electrical attack, appearing behind the yellow rat.
"Pikachu use Thunder Wave and send it all over!" Ash said, before recalling Oddish and Jigglypuff to their Pokeballs.
"Abra use Teleport!"
A spiral of electricity spun out from Pikachu's tail, covering the area in sparks.
"Now Pikachu hit it with a Quick Attack!"
"Abra use Teleport!"
This time the Abra just barely got away in time, small sparks shooting across its body.
"Pikachu use Thunderbolt!"
"Abra use Teleport!"
This time Abra wasn't quick enough as it was zapped midair, dropping to the ground with some smoke coming off of its body.
"Now you've done it, our boss will handle it from here." The girl said.
"Get ready for the ultimate Pokémon, something so strong, so terrifying, even gym leaders and the elite four can't use it! Come on out!" The oldest boy said.
"KARP!"
A Magikarp flopped in front of Pikachu, seemingly stuck in place.
"Magikarp use Splash!"
Magikarp flopped up and down on the ground, managing to even flip itself over.
"I can see the fear in your eyes, you should be scared. Now Magikarp use Flail!"
Magikarp launched itself at Pikachu, only for the electric type to duck out of the way.
"Ash, are you going to attack, or just wait this out?" Cassie asked.
"I'm kind of curious to see what they do next." Ash admitted.
"Magikarp use Tackle!"
Magikarp leapt up into the air, landing down onto Pikachu's tail. The surge of pain sent out a burst of electricity, frying the Magikarp, and giving Pikachu the win without even being given a command.
"I guess I just won?" Ash said. "Am I good to go in?"
As the group of kids scattered back into the city, Ash took that as a yes, wondering still if they really were guards of Celadon.
Authors Note
Why did I have Ash fight, well the bottom of the barrel Pokemon when he's approaching his fourth badge? It's because one of my personal challenges for this story is for Ash to battle all the original 150 Pokémon in it, so it was getting pretty far in for me to use those six anyways. I know Mew is technically gen 1 but I'm not sure how I'm going to include it so I'm not counting it right now.
