"Here we are, the Pokemon Tower." Ash said.

"You here to see the ghost Pokemon?" An older man asked.

"Yeah, why is there something wrong?" Ash asked.

"They've been chasing off intruders, making it impossible for the construction crew to work on it." The old man said.

"Well isn't the tower their home, I'd fight back at first too." Ash said.

"I understand their point, but there's only the three of them, they can't win the tower forever." The old man said. "The names Dr. Kirk Fuji, I'm the go between for these Pokémon and the people of Lavender Town."

"I'm Ash Ketchum from Pallet Town, and maybe I can help you out." Ash said. "I have a Silph Scope, maybe I can talk to the ghost types about finding a new home."

"I'm not so sure about talking with them, but if you can convince them, I'd be more than happy to watch over them." Dr. Fuji said.

"Okay, thanks I'll see what I can do." Ash said.

A bit later, now outside the Pokemon Tower

"Hold it kid, we can't let you in." A man in a safety vest said. "This is an active construction site, too dangerous."

"I'm here to help with the Ghost Pokemon Problem." Ash said.

"We already have people on the job, qualified people, what can you bring to the table." A man in a suit asked.

"Six badges and a Silph Scope." Ash said bluntly.

"Just don't get in their way." The man said.

"You're letting him in?" The worker asked.

"He's the only one that didn't ask for money, if he gets rid of them it'd save us a fortune." The man in the suit said.

Up where the other "qualified people" are

"Whoa, a lot of people here trying to remove the ghosts." Cassie commented, looking around.

"Let's go see what they've tried." Ash said, rushing towards an old man, only to have a very very large man stop him.

"It would be best if you did not disturb my sensei." The man said calmly.

"I just want to see what he's doing." Ash said.

"Please, leave him be." The man asked.

Ash looked beyond the man to see the elderly man dancing around, and waving a dried up lizard chanting, "Yu Mo Gui Gwai Fai Di Zao." Along with something burning in front of him.

"Okay, maybe not all of them are professional." Cassie commented.

"No, nuhuh. No way. Call my brother." A man in overalls and a green shirt talked on a phone. He looked like he had a vacuum cleaner on his back.

That wasn't the only one either as four men in matching jumpsuits and large vacuum like devices ran towards the upwards stairs.

"It's alright Jack, we'll get the next one." A woman in a blue bodysuit said to a man in an orange jumpsuit.

"I know, I just really wanted to use my net launcher." The man, apparently named Jack said.

"Wow, there are a lot of people here, how do you know when it's your turn?" Ash asked.

"There are no turns, it is first come, first served." The very large man from before said calmly.

"You know you don't need to keep watching me." Ash said, backing away slowly.

"I was so close!" A man shouted, wielding a sword, and wearing nothing but his underwear.

"There are a lot of strange people hunting these ghosts." Ash said.

"You're telling me." A young man said. "Are you also a trainer?"

"Yeah, my name's Ash, from Pallet Town." Ash said extending his hand.

"Names Morty, from Ekruteak City." Morty said, shaking Ash's hand. "The problem with these people is they're trying to catch or expel the ghosts."

"Exactly, I want to work with them, try and make them find a place where they'll be happy." Ash said.

"Then maybe we can work together." Morty said. "Ekruteak is a paradise for Ghost Type Pokemon, if we can catch them I can bring them there where they'll be free to haunt and explore to their heart's content."

"Okay, I can work with that, and if they want to stay, I know someone in town who'd be willing to take them in." Ash said.

"Don't worry about ghost types, they're actually very friendly." Morty said, holding a Pokeball up. "Well, looks like there's an opening, let's go."

"Come on Cassie, stay close." Ash said, grappling his Silph Scope and putting it on.

On the next floor

"Here they come Ash." Morty said, as three wisp-like forms swirled around, forming a Gastly, a Haunter, and a Gengar.

"Ahh!" Ash said, clutching his head.

"Ash, what's wrong?" Morty asked.

"I'm feeling dizzy." Ash said, taking off the Silph Scope. "What in the? This thing is useless! I can already see the ghosts!"

"That's what I try telling people." Morty said. "Weirdest design ever."

"Alright, what's the plan?" Ash asked.

"I need to catch them, without hurting them." Morty said.

"I can do that. Pikachu use Thunder Wave!"

The spiral of sparks shot out, hitting the Ghastly and locking it in place as the Haunter and Gengar flew out of the way.

"Gengar help out!" Morty said , sending out his own Pokemon.

Morty's Gengar took flight towards the other ghosts as Ash reached for another Pokeball.

"If you can get them close, I should be able to put them to sleep." Ash said.

"Got it, just tell me when." Morty said, before giving more directions to his Gengar.

"Alright Gloom, come on out!" Ash said. "When they get close hit them all with a Sleep Powder."

"Gloom Gloom!" Gloom said happily, readying a blast.

"Now!" Ash said.

The three ghost types flew towards him as they were all doused in the green powder coming from Gloom's flower.

"Alright then, Pokeballs, go!" Morty said, tossing out three Pokeballs.

Later back at Mr. Fuji's house

"Are you sure about this Ghastly?" Morty asked the small ghost type.

"It's perfectly fine, and if he wants I can always make the trip to Jhoto for him to visit his friends." Dr. Fuji said.

"I'm glad it's all sorted out." Ash said.

"Oh Ash, that reminds me. Here's half of the earnings, I figured you deserved at least that much." Morty said, handing Ash a stack of cash.

"Don't you need it though, I mean you're on a journey to, aren't you?" Ash asked.

"I think my position as a gym leader pays more than enough for this trip." Morty said with a smile. "If you're ever in Johto, look me up."

"You can count on it." Ash said with determination.

Character of the Day: Morty

When planning to do the chapter on Ghost types, I really had two options, Agatha, and Morty. I felt Morty was the better option as his entire gym is made up of the Ghastly line so I could use him as a true ghost expert without having to show other Pokémon in the chapter.

Authors note

There are five non Pokémon references in this story, did you catch them all?

Edit: I meant this chapter, thanks Northstar Pokeshipper
