She tried to catch her breath and keep quiet. Shit she always had the worst of luck. She took one last deep breath before deciding it was time to move.

A voice rang out "you should know, i grew up in Brooklyn. Think I even got in a fight in this very alley. Keep the money but I would like my wallet back " Becca groaned. Of course she couldn't outrun Captain America. She got up feeling dizzy.

"Look, I'm sorry. I didn't know you were well Mr USA. here" She hands him the wallet and cash back. Steve laughs

"Steve is fine" he checks his wallet. And finds the photo of Peggy he kept in there. He gets the cash out and offers it to her "Here. you clearly need it"

She went to take the money, when she felt her stomach drop and the world went fuzzy. She fell over, fainting. Steve caught her again. He felt a warm liquid on his hands. When he checked he saw it was blood.

"What have you gotten yourself into Becca?" He holds her and heads out of the alley. Something about her made him curious. There was something familiar about her. He took her to his place in Brooklyn and called Doctor Banner for him to set up the medical bay at the compound. He checked the wound. It looked infected but he was no doctor. He did the best he could for now, wrapping her in a blanket and carefully moving her to his truck. So much for his quiet day off.

He pulled up at the compound and sighed, spotting Sam and Bucky waiting with Bruce. Sam helped him get the unconscious girl out.

"You couldn't find a girl so you knocked one out now?" Sam chuckled as Bucky rolled his eyes.

"More like Steve can't help but jump in to help a damsel in distress Sam" Bucky chuckled watching his old friend.

"Stop it you two. She stole my wallet. When I asked for it back she passed out on me. I think she has been injured. Possibly stabbed." Steve then looked at Bruce "I think it's infected she is really hot" Sam and Bucky both snorted at that. Bruce feels her forehead.

"Take her to the med bay, she is running warm. We can have a look at her. Stop it you two" Bruce leads Steve to the bay. Bucky and Sam look at each other and shrug, going off to train. They were used to Steve bringing injured strays, though it was usually of the furry kind.

In the med bay, Steve puts the girl on the free bed. He steps back letting Bruce work. "You may want to go clean up Steve" Steve looked at his hands and shirt and nodded "of course, inform me if anything changes" He leaves for his room to clean up, he walks into natasha. Natasha looked at him with a raised eyebrow. "Not mine, don't worry. Just a Girl i met while out"

"Steve, honestly you can't even have one day off without being the hero. Why did you bring her here though? There are hospitals in New York." She followed him into his room sitting on his bed while he cleaned up in his bathroom. Steve spoke as he took his shirt off. "I don't know Nat, she is clearly living on the streets. She feels familiar to me like i know her from somewhere" he washes his hands of the blood, then comes out to get a clean shirt. She smirks "well at least it's not another dog or Tony would have been pissed" Steve laughs.

Bruce was treating Becca by attaching a IV drip to treat the fever and dehydration. He wasn't happy with her condition. It was clear she had been on the streets for a while. He turned his back to get some items to clean her wound, Becca woke up, her eyes flickering open against the bright lights. The smell hit her nose. A clinical smell. She panicked, they had found her. HYDRA found her. She ripped the IV out and jumped off the bed breaking a bar off it and pointing it at Bruce.

"Who are you? Let me go or I will kill you!" Bruce looked at her surprised but calm.

"My name is Bruce. I was treating your stab wound, it's become infected. That is why you have a fever. Steve Rodgers brought you here. I can assure you, you are safe here"

"NO this is a trick it's all a trick! Im not new to HYDRA's games"

J.A.R.V.I.S spoke in Steve's room. "Sir there is an issue in the medical bay. Doctor BAnner may need some assistance" Steve and Natasha looked at each other before running to the med bay, they both stopped in the entrance way looking at the scene. Becca still pointing the broken bar at Bruce scared. Bruce looked at his friends who were pointing guns at Becca.

"Becca seems to think she is at a HYDRA base" Steve frowns and lowers his gun taking a step towards her, Natasha frown and whispers "Steve be careful"

Steve holds his hands up and places his gun on the bed. "Becca this is the avengers compound, you are safe here. I can assure you HYDRA are nowhere near here. " Becca looks between Steve and Bruce. She lowers the bar a little. Captain America wouldn't be here if this was HYDRA. Steve holds his hand out for the bar, she hands it to him. "Let's get you back to bed before Bruce tells you off" Steve helps Becca back into the bed. Natasha looks at the bar that was broken off from the bed.

"Steve, I think your new friend has some explaining to do" Natasha lowers her gun but stays on alert. Steve looks at her "Nat I don't think now is the time. Becca this is Natasha, she is a good friend of mine"

"Well at least a full name Steve" Natasha and Becca were both looking at each other

"Its fine. My name is Rebecca Jane Barnes, HYDEA are after me because i escaped a lab 10 years ago where I was born"
