Day 4- Codywan: Bed sharing
Cody shut off his datapad and leaned back in his chair closing his eyes. That was the last report and he was all too happy to have it all read and filed away. He supposed it was time to go to bed now, he needed all the sleep he could get. But, it hadn't been easy to sleep well very recently...
"Everything alright there, Cody?" The general's voice broke his train of thought and Cody sat up to look the other man in the eye.
"Y-yeah," Cody stuttered. "I'm just, tired...I figured it was probably time to go to bed, get some sleep..." His voice trailed off as he looked around the room.
They sat in the general's quarters, and overall the ambiance of the room was warmer, happier. Perhaps that was because Cody associated it with feeling more relaxed and at peace; whatever the reason, he was reluctant to leave.
"Well," Obi-wan said as he stood up. "Don't let me keep you. As long as all your work is done, you're free to go and do as you like. And I dare say you need your rest. Always do."
"Hmm," the clone responded, making no movement to leave as his general went to hang up his cloak in the closet.
"Then again," Obi-wan continued. "I suppose if you aren't done we can always do this again tomorrow. I do have a couple more things that the Council wanted me to give to them. Those should be done as soon as possible, and I'm sure that you have something that needs to be done. Of course if you don't, I won't object to company. And I'm sure you don't mi-" The man ceased his rambling as he finally turned his attention away from his cloak to his commander.
Cody was sitting, bent over, head in hands, and through the Force, Obi-wan could very well tell it was not because he had fallen asleep. No, something was clearly troubling the man.
Obi walked back over and stood beside Cody, placing a hand on his shoulder. "You should go get some rest. Either that tell me what's bothering you." His tone was firm, yet gentle, and understanding.
"I just need to go get some sleep," Cody sighed as he sat up straight again. Yet, the man made no sign of getting up, rather he continued to sit and stare. His hand went up to run the left side of his face, tracing the scar that ran along it.
Obi bent down to look him in the eye. "Do you need to talk?" Cody only shrugged. Obi sighed. "What is it?"
"I just...haven't been...sleeping very well, lately," Cody muttered slowly. He knew his general meant well, but going through this informal procedure always made Cody feel like he was being a burden. Chances are General Kenobi didn't view it that way, but Cody had a hard time seeing it a different way.
"I've been having...bad dreams. That's all," the clone commander finished.
"Ah," Obi said. "Quite a nuisance those are. They do always seem to appear when they're least needed, don't they?"
Cody snorted. A classic Kenobi understatement. "Last I checked sir, they were never needed."
"Quite so," Obi agreed. "Do you want to talk about them?"
"I'll probably just grab some sedatives from the medic. That should help," Cody concluded. Yet still he didn't move.
Obi-wan cocked an eyebrow. The Jedi stood up and began to stroke his beard. "Yes, I suppose you could do that...But, I would suggest that perhaps you do what you might normally do in a such a situation."
Cody looked away from his general as he felt his face grow hot, realizing exactly where this could lead. "Well, sir, usually I would find Rex and sleep with him. But... he's not exactly accessible at the moment..."
Obi sighed. "Well, yes, that would put a bit of a dent in that plan..."
Cody rolled his eyes. The way the general made everything sound was just something else. "Yeah, just a bit..."
"Well," Obi-wan said with a deep breath. "I suppose there may be room in the bed for two."
Cody looked back at his general in shock. "Pardon? Sir?"
"I mean, you need to sleep well, and Rex isn't exactly available. However, I am. I assume you see him to sleep better, and I'd imagine that you'll sleep better with at least someone. So, will you stay or not?" Obi said, finishing with crossing his arms.
Cody didn't know what to say. He doubted the general would really allow him to say "no" but the very idea of sleeping with his general was borderline appalling.
"Is that a yes?" Obi asked. "I won't assume anything, but I'd like to get sleep. if you'll be joining, you can leave your armor on one of the chairs."
Obi-Wan began to remove his boots, sitting down on the bed, gently placing them near the foot of the bed.
Cody slowly began to take off his, placing each piece on his chair. He felt more vulnerable with each piece removed, but with what he'd wanted for a while now so close, it was hard to stop.
Once Cody has removed all of his armor, he simply stood there barefoot, unsure of what to do next.
Obi-wan however, simply came over, took the other man's hand and led him over to the bed. Cody was still processing and had little choice but to follow.
When they reach the side of the bed, Cody stopped, stalling somewhat as Obi pulled the blankets aside and climbed in. Cody stood there rubbing a cold foot against the back of his leg, feeling like a cadet in trouble. As his general settled down, Cody made one last effort to avoid this awkward situation.
"You know, sir," he began. "I don't think I've really showered, gotten cleaned up you know? Maybe I shouldn't sleep here..."
Obi-wan shook his head and he began to lie down. "Cody, if I was at all worried about that, I wouldn't have offered this as an option. Besides, if we refused to climb into bed and to sleep every time we hadn't cleaned up, we would all have gotten a lot less sleep. Now come on in. I really don't mind."
Finally, Cody nodded his head, doing as he was asked.
Now, the situation was awkward because it was to some degree fraternization (or so Cody viewed it to be), but also simply because the bed wasn't exactly built to fit two fully grown men. But, it was made even more awkward in Cody's mind because he did in fact want nothing more than to climb into bed with his general. He was attracted to his general, yet despite that he wanted this, he had assumed that such actions would be completely out of the question, considering that Obi-wan was a Jedi.
Yet, despite all of that, Cody found himself that night lying in bed beside his general, and it was Obi who had offered this, so who was Cody to argue with him? And although Cody was exceedingly embarrassed by the turn of events, he was thankful (and would be sure to treasure the moment while he could, should nothing more occur), and he did sleep well.
