Day 9- Codywan: Wearing the Others's Clothes

Cody left the bridge, making his way over to the general's room. While the general finished up the business he had with the council, Cody figured now was probably the best time to take the general's cloak back over to his room.

He felt somewhat ridiculous walking around the ship with the cloak hanging on his arm, even though the occurrence really wasn't so uncommon. It continually amazed Cody the number of times General Kenobi left his cloak behind. And Cody doubted there was an unlimited supply.

Cody shook his head and smiled, baffled, yet amused all the same. He reached the room and opened the door. He stepped inside and reached to the side to turn on the lights. The door closed behind him and he sighed. The room was familiar and Cody found it comforting to be here. Taking off his helmet to place it on the small table in there, he then strode across the room to the closet, the door automatically opening as he approached it.

Very little was in the closet, another cloak and change of robes, seemingly identical to the ones that the general was wearing currently. To some, the humble contents may be surprising, yet Cody himself (and all his brothers) had similar simple wardrobes.

Cody began to hang up the cloak, but hesitated. The sudden urge to don the cloak came over him. Checking behind him to see that the door was closed, he started to place one arm in the cloak. He could feel his heart racing unnecessarily fast. He wasn't doing anything wrong, yet somehow it felt that way.

Cody put his other arm in, and backed up, away from the closet. He then put the hood up and wrapped the cloak around him.

"It smells like him," Cody thought to himself. He put a sleeve up to his face and inhaled. A wave of comfort enveloped him as he smelled the cloak.

Cody became intensely glad that the door was closed. Although the chances of any of the boys walking by was slim, he knew he would never hear the end of this if he was caught.

"I should probably get back to work," Cody said to himself with a sigh.

With reluctance, he took the cloak off and approached the closet again. As the door opened, so did the one to the room.

The commander immediately spun around and found General Kenobi standing in the doorway.

"Sir!" Cody snapped to attention, cloak still in hand.

"There's hardly any need for that, Cody," Obi-wan said with a wave of his hand. "Although, I wasn't expecting you'd still be in here."

Cody flushed. "Well, sir, you see...um...I was just, you know...I...uh..."

"Have you done anything wrong?" Obi asked, interrupting the useless rambling.

Cody shook his head.

"Well then, I doubt you have anything to explain," the general concluded.

"Yes, sir," Cody said as he finally relaxed. Remembering he was still holding the cloak, he turned around again to hang it up.

"Actually, Cody," Obi said, interrupting his actions again. "I'll take that. It's a little chilly, you know."

"Of course, sir." Cody turned around to face his general, the heat in his face still present. The two men walked to each other and Cody handed the cloak to his general, suddenly very eager to leave. He gave the general a nod and immediately made his way to the door.

He was just leaving when General Kenobi said, "Cody, it seems you've forgotten something."

Cody turned around just in time to catch his helmet. "Thank you, sir!" came the surprised response. He firmly shoved his helmet on, comforted by the minimal privacy it gave.

"I'll see you around, Cody. Take care," Obi-wan said.

"Thank you. I will, sir." With that Cody finally left, relieved greatly by the fact.
