Day 11- Ezrabine: Accidentally Falling Asleep on Each Other

"I still haven't gotten any word from Hera," Sabine said checking her comm. "So, it could be a little while more."

Ezra shrugged. "Well, as long as we aren't needed, I don't see that as too much of a problem. We got the cargo we came here for, so waiting sounds good to me."

"As long as nothing comes out of the dark and eats us," Sabine said rolling her eyes. "It's getting dark, and we don't have any protection, other than our weapons. We should hope that Hera and the rest come back soon."

"Yeah, yeah, I know," Ezra said as he placed himself on the ground and leaned against one of the cargo crates. "But I'm not sensing anything around, so we're probably good. Honestly, I might try and get some sleep."

Sabine raised an eyebrow. "I guess I'll stay watch then."

"Or you could get some rest like me." Ezra patted the ground next to him. "If anything shows up, I'm sure I can sense it before it's too close. Besides, you're gonna get more rest here that at home."

Sabine sighed. "I guess you're right. Unfortunately."

"Hey!" Ezra shouted as Sabine sat beside him. "Sometimes I'm right! Actually, I'm right a lot of the time. Come on! Give me some credit!"

"I was giving you credit," Sabine laughed. "I told you that you were right! That's giving you credit."

"What so you're just mad that you didn't think of it?" Ezra retaliated.

"I didn't say that either," Sabine said with a smirk.

Ezra groaned and leaned his head against the crate. "Why are you so impossible sometimes? You know what," he said then sitting up straight, his arms resting on his knees. "Why don't we just get some sleep. Doesn't matter whose idea it was. We'll get more sleep here than anywhere else."

"Assuming nothing tries to eat us," Sabine added.

Ezra rolled his eyes. "Yeah, yeah, assuming nothing tries to eat us. I know. Now get some sleep you crazy Mandalorian." He closed his eyes.

Sabine squinted at him. "Crazy Jedi," she said, putting into it as much contempt as she could.

"Thanks," Ezra mumbled. "I'll see you in a couple hours."

"Fine," Sabine sighed. She didn't feel very comfortable, out in the open without much protection. But Ezra was right. They would probably sleep more here than at home.

Ezra began to stir. He wasn't very comfortable; his neck was stiff and his legs felt kind of cramped. When he opened his eyes it was still dark out.

"Wonder how long I slept," he said aloud to himself.

He looked to the side to see if Sabine was awake. When she was not sitting straight up there by his side he looked down at his lap.

Sure enough, the girl was passed out on his legs. He doubted she'd fallen asleep like that, but here she was now. Ezra smiled. It was nice.

It was also pretty funny. He knew she would never even think of doing something like this (at least not and admit she'd thought it), so that fact that it was occurring was priceless.

Tentatively, Ezra placed a hand on her head. When she didn't wake to his touch, he gently began to run his fingers through her hair. It had fallen into her face so Ezra pulled it back behind her ear.

It was incredibly more peaceful when she was asleep. Any lines of stress seemed to have disappeared, and she just seemed so relaxed.

Honestly, it was a little bit strange. His mental image of her was not at all what he was seeing. But, what he was seeing was what he wanted to be able to see all the time.

He looked up at the sky and checked his comm. Still nothing from Hera.

Ezra leaned back again and closed his eyes continuing to run his fingers through her hair.

He remembered thinking it was surprisingly soft before drifting off again...

Sabine opened her eyes and it was still dark out. As her eyes adjusted, she realized that she was no longer upright.

A quick glance down told her she had fallen over at some point into Ezra's lap. She sighed. Could be worse.

She checked her comm, but there was still no word from Hera. She sighed and rolled over to look up at Ezra's face.

The boy was still fast asleep.

Lying down on his lap wasn't actually terribly uncomfortable, though the angle she was at was a little weird for his face. Of course, his head was leaning backwards as well.

Sabine sat up and debated waking him up. Maybe they should try contacting Hera; something bad could have happened. Yet, at the same time, all Sabine really wanted to do was curl back up on Ezra's lap and go back to sleep. Not to mention he was actually resting; not something they always got a lot of necessarily.

For once, Ezra didn't look stressed, worried, or concerned about anything. He was just here, existing and looking, well, relaxed. Not to mention looking a lot more older and mature then when they first met; maybe even attractive.

Sabine chuckled at herself. Ezra would be ridiculously excited to know if she'd even thought that. She'd never let him know.

She reached a hand up to touch his face. She brushed a thumb across his cheek. Still completely smooth -no scruff she noted- and much softer than she would have expected. Maybe one day she'd actually be able to get away with touching it when he was awake.

Sabine sighed and took up a position similar to Ezra's. More sleep sounded good.

The sound of ship engines woke the teenagers from their sleep. The sound faded as the ship flew by overhead.

Ezra opened his eyes and looked over at the Sabine. This time, she was right by his side, her head leaning on his shoulder. They made eye contact, and Sabine immediately pushed herself away.

"Get off me!" she shouted, picking herself up off the ground.

"Hey!" Ezra complained standing up, rubbing sleep from his eyes. "That's not fair. You were the one on me!"

"Yeah, well," Sabine said crossing her arms. "Then your head was on top of mine, so you were on me."

"You know what...whatever," Ezra threw his hands in the air. "You are impossible. Also, was the ship that flew over ours?"

Sabine looked at her comm and began contacting Hera. "Hopefully."

"Spectre-5 to Ghost, Spectre-5 to Ghost," Sabine said into the comm. "Hera do you read?"

"Ghost to Spectre-5, I read you," Hera responded. "You ready to be picked up? You have the cargo?"

"Check and check, Ghost," Sabine said. "Did you just fly over?"

Hera laughed. "Yeah, we did. We're circling back around to get you. See you soon!"

"See you soon! Spectre-5 out." Sabine ended the transmission.

"You know," Ezra said coming to stand right beside Sabine. "We didn't get eaten. And we got some good rest."

Sabine rolled her eyes. "Yeah. I guess you being right isn't so bad after all."

"Well," Ezra smiled. "If that's what it takes to make you happy, I'll take it."
